This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of May, 1938, in accordance with request made by self through Hugh Lynn Cayce, 6/6/38, and questions submitted by Dr. Frank Dobbins, 5/12/38; $10 sponsorship for this Check Physical Reading by Mr. David E. Kahn, Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1513].
-
It would have been better if there had been the concurrent applications of the vibratory forces AND the adjustments in the areas from which the impingements and deflections have arisen that have caused the greater portion of the disturbance.
-
As we find, in the present the disturbances HAVE been eliminated; that is, the corrections are made in the coccyx area.
-
However, with the vibratory forces set up for the enlivening of tissue - which is the reaction from the Gold Solution or Vibrations of same in the system - it will require that there be occasionally the gentle manipulations and the stimulation of the ganglia especially in all areas of the brush end of the cerebrospinal system; to prevent same forming or producing clogging again in the system.
-
Hence these should be kept up intermittently (the manipulations); or rather once, twice, three times a month there should be the examination, or the inspection of the conditions - as long as the vibratory forces of the low electrical appliance are kept.
-
And these vibrations should be kept for at least another six or eight months; with occasionally the other treatments, as indicated.
-
Thus we will find the better conditions will continue, and the body grow nearer to normal - unless there are other influences that become active in the system than are indicated in the present.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is this coccyx misplacement the direct cause of the condition? (A) As indicated, this was the direct cause of the condition - as combined with the general deflection produced in the system by same, see?
Hence the necessity, with the correcting of same, that there be the vibratory forces to re-enliven, or to enliven nerve ends where coordination comes BETWEEN the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal systems.
Hence the necessity of the inspection occasionally, as indicated.
Do that.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/13/38 Mr. [1513]‘s letter was written but was not received by Edgar Cayce until after the Reading [1513-2] was given:
New York, N.Y.
Dear Sir:
Your son wrote to inform me of the reading and suggested that I could form a list of questions which I am doing.
- Should I apply to the U.S. Civil Service Commission for reinstatement immediately?
- How long will [should] I use the Gold Chloride and accessories?
- Will I return to my previous status in the Federal Service?
Respectfully, [1513]
R2. 5/16/38 EC’s letter (not dictated): ”…Yours of the 13th with questions arrived after we had taken the reading; however, they would possibly be irrelevant to the activities for the next few weeks, and then we would like to take another reading for you and we can have these or other questions that you may wish to ask at that time. Sincerely hope you will soon be feeling your normal self again. Hoping to have been and to be of a real service…”
R3. 5/16/38 EC’s letter to HLC: ”…[1513] reading sent him. Didn’t get his questions that he mailed until after the reading was taken. I wrote him suggesting we get another reading after he has tried the appliance and treatments together for a time, and include his questions then. If you see him, or make a point of seeing him, explain how it was…”
R4. 12/6/38 Eye witness report by Lydia J. Schrader Gray: Mr. Cayce lectured at the McAlpin Hotel in N.Y.C. on this date. In introducing Mr. Cayce, Mr. David Kahn announced that a man had just entered the hall whose story he wanted to tell. Mr. Kahn then described this case, [1513]. At the conclusion of the story Mr. [1513] rose from his seat and came to the front of the hall. In a quiet, choked voice he said, “Every word of this is true, and I came tonight to shake the hand of the man who gave me back my life.” When Mr. [1513] and Mr. Cayce shook hands, there was hardly a dry eye in the hall.
R5. 1/4/39 Letter from [1513] to EC: ”…Was very pleased to learn that my appearance at your meeting and the short address that I delivered was satisfactory and helpful. Rest assured that I will be at your service whenever you may feel that I have anything in the way of enlightenment to contribute to your audience…”
R6. 1/6/39 EC’s letter (not dictated): ”…Thank you for yours of the 4th. Just your speaking to someone else is fine. I hope I will have the opportunity to talk with you at some length on some of my visits to N.Y…”
R7. 2/13/47 Dr. Frank P. Dobbins’ reply to Questionnaire in re Mr. [1513]:
