This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of January, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1523], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [934].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [1523] and Mrs. [934].]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1523].
-
Now as we find, there ARE disturbing conditions which prevent the normal reactions in the physical forces of the body.
-
We find that as there HAVE been heretofore disturbances with the activities in the pelvic organs, and as in the present there is the false conception, this has produced in the tube (that is left - there’s one) that of CONGESTION.
-
So, the reactions are the disturbance and distress to not only the organs themselves but to the nervous system - and to the general activities of the body.
-
The general temperament, the general activity and some precautions that were not taken in the operative forces that were performed, indicate that the POSITION of the organs has been allowed to produce this plethora and the congestion which exists.
-
Hence it is not TRUE conception at this time; but there will be necessitated the applications and treatments that will allow for the disgorging of the disturbance without producing rupture or a disturbing condition to the bodily forces themselves.
-
This as we find may be accomplished, then, if there are the proper precautions and the applications that would be protective in that way and manner.
-
First, there must be the precautions as to the general activities of the body during the periods in which the applications are administered - and in the accomplishing of same.
-
Then, there must be those precautions as to the proper character and proper amount of eliminations from the system.
-
And there must be the proper distribution of the eliminations as related to the activities of the body, as to the poisons and as to the activities of same.
-
Then, the application of those influences as to bring about the disgorgements.
-
First, we would use the Violet Ray Vaginal Applicator. This would be used each day in the beginning, only for about half to three-quarters of a minute. Then on the third day it may be increased to one minute. Then on the sixth day it may be increased to about a minute and a half.
-
AFTER each application of the Violet Ray (the vaginal applicator), use a WARM douche with an Atomidine solution. Not too hot, but a little above body temperature. Don’t trust to the hand or the feeling, but thermometer-ize the douche. To each quart of water for the douche add a teaspoonful of Atomidine - to produce a cleansing and to assist the elimination.
-
And keep these until there is a disgorgement of the congestion that is produced in the system.
-
Well that at least two to five minutes of a thorough massage be given the body each evening. This may be done with the electrically driven vibrator or it may be done by the hands.
-
For the eliminations generally, we would use Zilatone as an activity upon the eliminating system; that the organs of the system may be cleansed throughout. Half an hour after the morning meal take one Zilatone tablet; half an hour to an hour after the noon meal take another; then in the evening about two hours after the meal take TWO tablets. And then leave off for at least two or three days, before this may be repeated again.
-
In the matter of the diet, keep those forces or influences that are body-strengthening and body-building; as liver, fish or fowl as the meats; as the leafy and pod vegetables for the weight and the body-building forces.
-
Keep quiet, and ESPECIALLY keep the FEET DRY and WARM!
-
Do these and as we find there may be the elimination of the disturbances. Otherwise we may find it necessary for curettage OR for the elimination of infectious forces arising by removing the tube.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What corrections are necessary for normal pregnancy? (A) First we must get rid of the condition that exists! Then it will depend upon what POSITION the organs are left in, and as to what condition! for as we find indicated from present conditions it will be very apt that there will never be NORMAL pregnancy here!
-
(Q) How long should it take to correct this present condition? (A) This depends again upon how well the applications are carried out, and as to the precautions taken concerning the general conditions during the applications. This should be cleared or corrected as we find within six to eight days.
-
(Q) Should I expect any alarming symptoms after starting these treatments? (A) There may be a great quantity of blood or a condition which will appear as some flooding; but keeping quiet - and keeping off of the feet, and especially keeping the lower limbs WARM, these disturbing conditions should soon discontinue.
-
(Q) If sudden pains arise, what should I do? (A) There should NOT be sudden pains if there is the proper precaution taken!
If these do arise, then it is best to have a physician!
-
(Q) Is there any trouble with my stomach? (A) This is purely reflex as we find in the present.
-
(Q) Should I give up strenuous exercise, after the condition is corrected? (A) This depends upon the position of the organs and the condition that is brought about.
The strenuous exercise naturally makes for irritation to much of that which has been caused by the effect of scar tissue in the system; but these BECOME more and more NECESSARY for the body-activities. But do not OVERDO it!
-
(Q) What causes my head to stop up every night? Do I have a sinus condition? (A) More of a reflex from a disturbance in the upper dorsal centers. With the use of the vibratory forces from the electrically driven vibrator, this should be materially aided.
-
(Q) Why do I gain in weight so easily? (A) It’s the NATURAL disturbance and the natural conditions for the body!
-
(Q) How may I keep normal in weight? (A) The diets.
-
(Q) May the position of the organs in the pelvis be corrected by osteopathy later? (A) Well, this depends upon other conditions - to be sure! This may be given AFTER there is a correction of these disturbances here! For to try to answer that now would be like giving whether or not the body would take care of itself, whether it will react to the same conditions, or just how! This may not be given until there is a correction of the disturbances in the present.
-
(Q) What has caused the unnatural menstruation for the past week, which was within two weeks of the last Period? (A) Congestion.
Do these things as we find, as we have indicated, if we would bring the better condition for this body.
- We are through for the present.

INDIVIDUAL CASE REPORT
Date of Reading: Jan. 28, 1938 Case No.: 1523-1
In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? In my opinion the Reading covered my condition THOROUGHLY.
Give symptoms of conditions described correctly. Jan. 7th normal menstruation. Jan. 14th opportunity for conception took place.
First indication of tubal pregnancy as I found it, Jan. 21st
a spotting and dull pain in the left side of the left thigh. This pain was always present when active, but with quiet and rest it was less frequent. Mr. Cayce gave me a Reading on the 28th of Jan. For eight days I stayed off my feet, getting up only to go to the bath and to meals. By the 8th day there was very little pain and my condition was some improved. By the 11th day, I was staying up all day taking only a little exercise. Feb. 10th, Mr. Cayce gave me a check reading [1523-2]. Feb. 12th, menstruation began. There was slightly more than normal flooding, and some clotting. A plethora the size of the little finger was passed, this being purple in color and of slight mucal substance. The second day, Menstruation became normal. With the normal menstruation, the busts which became twice their normal size during this pregnancy [?] deflated to their normal size.
The suggestions given in the Reading were followed exactly as outlined.
The physician’s analysis of this condition - was not made known to me. I was told to await developments. When this same condition had occurred in the right tube - the tube was removed (1930). Mrs. [1523]
R3. GD’s note: Subsequently - 5/9/53, in fact - Dr. M. L. Richardson, then treating Mrs. [1523], secured from the Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va., a copy of her case reports on a tubal pregnancy in May 1930 and in June 1936. Mrs. [1523] has agreed to let these reports be used in 1523-1:

One of the most dangerous conditions that threaten women’s
- [Mrs. [1523] said that she considered it ironical that some yrs. later Dr. Hargraves himself died with appendicitis. He had operated on her for what he thought was appendicitis and in process of the operation discovered it was tubal pregnancy.]
lives is pregnancy in the tube rather than the uterus. In a large New Orleans charity hospital there were 1,059 such cases in 40 years. Unless there is early diagnosis, the patient may die from hemorrhage if the tube ruptures. Women should learn the chief symptoms of this condition. In 97 percent of the cases there are pain and bleeding as soon as the baby’s growth creates pressure on the tissues. There is a risk of confusing this condition with others that cause pain and bleeding. These cases emphasize the importance of a woman’s consulting her doctor the moment she suspects pregnancy.
Background
Background
B1. 5/24/34 Mr. [257] in N.Y.C. referred Miss [1523] to Edgar Cayce, following the separation and divorce from her first husband, Mr. [2508], telling her that EC would be able to tell her what to do with her life. She told Mr. [257] that she had been told about Edgar Cayce in 1929 by Mr. [391]. [See 1523-4, her Life Rdg. Background, on 4/12/38.]
B2. 1/22/38 Mrs. [1523] and her second husband, Mr. [1650], were visiting Mr. [391] and his wife, Mrs. [934], for the evening. She related to Mrs. [934] her fears about her physical condition; it would appear that she had another tubal pregnancy, as she had all the symptoms of the tubal pregnancy for which she had previously obtained surgery. Mrs. [934] urged her to have a Physical Reading immediately from Edgar Cayce.
