This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Ave., Dayton, Ohio, this 27th day of Feb., 1925, in accordance with request made by parents.

Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Alabama. Time of Reading 4:30 P. M. Dayton Savings Time. …, Ohio.

1. LS: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities latent and exhibited in the present life. Also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving the time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here and that position from which the entity took its place in the present earth’s plane with those conditions surrounding same and the relation of Universal Forces in the spheres with those abilities that are latent in the entity, and that ability to which this may be developed in the present earth’s plane.

3. In the entity’s entrance in the present earth’s plane we find the position taken from Mercury and Venus, with Jupiter and Uranus in the position of the development other than in the earth’s plane and we have those urges present in the developing entity. Hence the direction in which these urges must be directed, that they may give the better development as will be seen as necessary in the present plane.

4. We find these are those urges: Those of the nature of the selfishness as manifest towards self and of those whom the body holds near to same, yet without that show of being an error when guided in the correct channels. Hence, the necessity in the early training for the purpose of the urge as is given through this condition, which we find comes from that of the Venus forces. Hence not governed by the mental, nor is same balanced by the Uranian forces. Rather let the developments be directed in the Jupiterian, or the forces of the ennobling portions of same. [See 487-4, Par. R15.]

5. Again we see those urges of possessions of worldly goods.

This again guided in the correct channels gives the same condition as we find in the moral urge of the entity.

6. Again we find that of the desire to obtain knowledge or the understanding of every condition. This coming in the highest element of the entity and increased through the urge in the Uranian forces. Hence the necessity of the correct environments for this acquiring of the elements of knowledge, and the necessity of these being guided in correct channels, for with the knowledge of the other two urges as given, this shows the necessity of this directing in the proper channels. [See 8/4/43 letter of [487] under 487-17 Reports indicating results of such training.]

7. Again we find the elements as enter in thru Venus and Uranian forces with the mental, that the physical forces in body, especially those tending towards the eliminations and the direction of the system of the nerves, needs to be kept in the correct channel, else we bring those elements in the developing mental forces retarding, or causing the accentuation of these conditions. Be especially anxious or careful of this condition eight days from present.

8. In these developments then with the entity as we find in its development in its mental, moral, physical makeup, let those directions be given in the manner that will give the greater development in this entity, for we find the abilities in this entity, especially, beyond those of the ordinary, as we shall see from the sojourns in earth’s plane.

9. Those abilities lie then in that which represents the weaknesses in the physical forces in the body, that of aerial affairs, or of electrical development, or of electrical engineering [He did become an electrical engineer - See 487-17 Reports.], or of steam engineering, or of those that have to do with that requiring the mental development, especially along the lines of mathematical precision in each element. [See 487-4, Par. R15.]

10. As to the appearances in the earth’s plane, these we see have been in accordance with those developments necessary and with the care given at this stage of development in earth’s plane will give that necessary for the entity to be presented wholly to the Giver of good and perfect gifts, in that sphere of the development, or in another sphere than earth’s, or earth’s solar systems’ connection.

11. In the one before this, then, we find in that land now known as Germany when the first application of steam was given to move objects, and the entity then was from another country. In this development as brought the entity on, we find in the name of Iasdo, and the time was in that of [1321], and the personality as is in the present is the condition as given in the desire to keep things to self, or knowledge of conditions to self.

12. In the one before this we find in the Indian rule, then the higher civilization in the earth’s plane. This we see 1097 [10,097? coincided with Atlantis? See 419-1 on 11/18/26.] before the Prince of Peace, and the entity then in the name of Ddao, and then the entity gave to that people the first show or combination of chemical that produced explosives, as this we see was used against those tribes that attacked the ones this entity made head of. In the personality shown in the individuality, and the urge exhibited at the present time, slow to make those connections in friendships, yet true to those, provided others do not interfere in that, yet these are easily remained in oblivion to the entity.

13. In the one before this we find in the land of the Poseidians when the rule was in the house of Ode [Od?], and the entity then gave to that people the manner of use of the universal forces as may be applied in the way of mechanical construction in a physical plane. The entity then known as Ode. In this we find in the present plane that ability to grasp easily, quickly, every condition as is presented to the body, yet this, as we see, depending upon the manner in which the developments may be made in present plane by those having the charge or direction of the entity in its gaining the first principles of applying the urge as comes to the developing of the mental abilities, with the position in which the physical finds itself in the present sphere.

14. Then to apply this and how:

Well that those who have this charge take notice of the responsibility in the present condition, and with the present entity, that the world, the peoples, the nations, may gain that advantage of the abilities of the entity, for let it be known that with the development as acquired through this entity, that were these turned in that channel from the Uranian forces, it would make just as far from the high development as it may make with the correcting of the urges as presented.

16. Then, let the entity gain that as the first the knowledge of self, and of Him who gives all good and perfect gifts, then the ever correcting force of His purpose, as is in Him, be directed in that channel, leading then ever upward, onward, to that bright and holy land.

I don’t know as he’s changed his eccentric ways and manners much, yet he seems to be a very bright, active, quick thinking child and I’m glad that he’s had the opportunity to get his first training in the school he’s in. I only wish he could have 3-4 years of it…progressive school, Frank D. Slutz, Principal - one of the progressive leaders.”

R2. 7/14/25 “[487], ‘Dynamite’, as he is called by Mr. [4121], is still showing a great deal of his aptitude of a studious person, as was shown in his Life Rdg., and is considerably advanced in many ways for his years. It’s very interesting and surprising how the little school work he has had has brought this out.”

R4. 1/13/27 Father’s letter: “He is the one financier, I guess, of the family - for he is as particular as anybody you ever saw about his little savings account, and that the interest is properly entered from time to time.”

R7. June 1929 his father sent this poem written by [487] at the age of 11; a pupil at Professor Francis H. Greene’s School for Boys:

R8. 11/17/32 Father wrote that [487] had gotten rather far advanced in French at the Greene School and now in high school was taking an extra course in it from an outside instructor: “I don’t know how it is that he seems to be something of a French student.”

R9. 7/5/33 See 341-40, Par. 13-A advice in re [487] on Boy Scout trip.

R10. 9/7/33 “It would be possible for him to get through high school this year, but I think that on account of his age and his counseling with his brother, he has decided to go another year. His brother thinks it better for him to do that, even though he wouldn’t have to carry but one subject next year. I don’t know whether that will give him too much time for his own good or not, but - as he says - he is doing a most unusual thing this year - this will be his freshman, junior and senior year, as he is taking subjects in all three. When he finishes there next year he will have had everything it is possible for that school to give him - [“except agriculture, as he is not much of an agriculturist”] all the credits including his active interests in football, Scouting, etc.”

R11. 4/26/34 See 540-1, Par. 34-A indicating that Mrs. [540] came with [487] from Atlantis into Egypt in a former incarnation. [See 487-17 on 6/7/34.]

R12. 5/18/34 Father’s letter: “For the last 4-5 months [487] has made straight A’s all the way through…he doesn’t like the girls…you can’t persuade him to have anything to do with any of them at any time or anywhere. He is somewhat athletically inclined; plays on the football team and is counted among the stars in baseball just going on right now.

R14. 3/35 His grandfather wrote that [487] was working week-ends at a grocery store and saving his money.

R15. 5/27/35 Brother’s letter: “[487] according to his Life Rdg. has in every past incarnation been associated with mechanics and chemistry. Without urging he has always taken a great interest in any subjects pertaining to those fields. His math grades, his chemistry and general science grades have been perfect. He has read volumes of parallel works, technical books, pertaining to these subjects, and has selected his vocation for which he will, I hope, start further preparation in Duke University next fall - electrochemical engineering.” [See 487-4, Par. 9.] [9/10/47 Brother’s letter: “His specific work at present, as an electrical engineer, deals with estimating (note the mathematical precision mentioned), which requires the use of math in working out a variety of problems. Each new job requires precision in determining the needs in terms of materials, labor and electrical power required.”]

“The interesting reference to selfish nature [See 487-4, Par. 4] certainly worked out. As a child and young man he has maintained a detached attitude regarding people, and he has been known to express frequently an utter disregard - in word and act - for others’ feelings.”

R16. 6/35 We were told that [487] graduated with honors from high school, being valedictorian (his average for the 4 yrs. being 95.3).
