This Check Physical Reading is being charged to Mr. [1536] at the regular rate of 10 for each Check Physical, the First Physical Reading at 20 being Sponsored by his uncle, Mr. [675].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. Clearwater, Florida. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes.
-
As we find, conditions are on the improve.
-
The corrections that have been indicated as necessary for the relief of the body are being made.
-
But there should be, as we find, specific attention given to the area from the 3rd dorsal to the 3rd cervical, see? and these should coordinate as one with another.
-
To aid in making for a reaction in the activity of the muscular forces and the impulses in the bronchi and larynx, that receive the greater portion of the spasmodic reaction, we would take - when these conditions occur - a one-grain tablet of Calcidin. Do not take these too often, to be sure; and as the corrections are more in align, and there is the relief from the disturbance, less and less of the spasmodic reactions will occur.
-
In the diet beware of sweets, of pastries, and of those things that tend to make for a spasmodic reaction to the upper or cardiac portion of the stomach.
-
Also when these occur, a little salt occasionally will be found to be most helpful.
-
The rest we would keep much in the order as has been indicated.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often may the Calcidin be taken? (A) Two hours apart, for a day; and then be left off for eight or ten hours before being taken again.
-
(Q) Any further suggestions to help effect quicker recovery? (A) The perfect alignment on either side, and where there are the segments and the subluxations that exist in the vagus area - these should be from the side as well as up and down; that is, lateral as well as up and down, see?
-
(Q) Anything further that will help relieve attacks? (A) As has been indicated.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/13/38 [1536]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce -
I just received a wire from my brother saying that he saw my Mother [1558] yesterday, and that the improvement in her condition is amazing [See 1558-2]. I feel impelled to write and express my gratitude to you for seeing Mother’s true condition so clearly. I feel certain that her improvement will continue from now on, and I will be forever grateful.
I am also relieved to know from both you and Dr. Farrand that my condition is improving because the frequency and severity of the attacks I have been having would indicate just the reverse. Before long I too will feel the improvement. Enclosed is $10 for my last reading - and my sincere thanks.
Cordially, [1536]
R2. 4/25/38 His uncle, Mr. [1578], obtained a Physical Rdg.
R3. 4/25/38 Dr. Farrand’s ltr. to EC: ”…All of the patients have gotten along very nicely - Mr. [1536] is still having some trouble but is improving some right along…”
R4. 4/29/38 EC’s reply: Glad to have yours of the 25th and to know that Mr. [1536] is coming along nicely - must be necessarily slow, but hope it is not of a permanent nature…”
R5. 5/3/38 [1536]‘s letter to EC:
… Apartments, Clearwater Beach, Fla.
Dear Mr. Cayce -
I have delayed writing to you again hoping that each day would bring a change but it has not been felt. The attacks have continued very strongly despite the fact that I have had 7 1/2 weeks of daily treatments.
When I received your first reading in Buffalo I started with osteopathic treatments which seemed to help the general condition immediately. For the first time in over a year I started to sleep normally at night, and I also started to put on some of the 30 pounds I had lost. However treatments during an attack seemed to irritate rather than help. By the time I was here ten days, I had gained about eight pounds from the low point in Buffalo. Since that time the condition has seemed to be getting back where it was this winter in Buffalo and last summer in Asbury Park. There has been quite a loss of weight which is continuing. The coughing attacks are very violent - particularly at night - so that I seldom get more than three hours sleep and that is an exhausted sleep. The wheezing continues very strongly, and the entire physical condition seems much weaker than when I arrived here
- a good deal of nausea, etc. Dr. Farrand certainly seems to be on the right track but I should be feeling better instead of worse.
I sincerely desire your help in this matter, but I do not feel that I can afford the cost of another reading at this time unless it seems likely to you after reading this letter that a reading should reveal additional treatment or medication that will be helpful. If it seems to you that all is being done that can be done, we will dispense with the reading - otherwise I would like you to give me another one as soon as possible and also to see if there is any additional cause for the trouble. There will not be any specific questions and it will not be necessary for me to verify the time as I shall be here in apt #… of the … Apts at whatever time you set.
Yours Very Sincerely [1536]
P.S. I am very happy to report that Mother continues to improve [see 1558-2] and that she will probably be taken home within the next week.
P.P.S. Is it possible that although the treatment I am receiving seems to be right in that it is removing the pressure, is it not also possible that the method Dr. Farrand uses may be setting up irritation in other parts of my body that counteract the benefits received?
Might a mental reading disclose sources of trouble that are counteracting the physical benefits received?
R6. 5/8/38 EC’s letter to [1536]:
Dear Mr. [1536]
