[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Misses [1540] and [357].]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1540]; this we have had before.
-
There are changes in the general physical forces of the body since last we had same here. Some are for improvements, and if these are taken advantage of in the present we may find - with the application of the mental as combined with the physical forces - we may bring near to normal influences through the body-forces.
-
Then, in the present, we would do these; disregarding what has been heretofore indicated:
-
Each day, in the evening, take half a teaspoonful of Tonicine.
-
Twice each week have the osteopathic adjustments, with special reference to those conditions existing in the lumbar axis and in the vagus center. These we would keep until at least sixteen such treatments have been given.
-
Each evening when ready to retire use the Radio-Active Appliance for twenty to thirty minutes.
-
Do these; being mindful that there is kept the prayerful attitude; living, practising in the experience, and in the relationships with others, that for which ye pray - and not for self alone but that self may so live, so act towards others as to bring a greater manifestation of that which is good in each individual, and less and less of that which would cause or bring doubt and fear from ANY cause into the experience of others.
-
Do that, and we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Will I get my position back and how must I go about getting it? (A) Get the physical forces first in a position or condition to maintain the position, and it will be ready for you.
-
(Q) Is it best for me to live at the beach with Mrs. […]? (A) This must be determined in self. This CANNOT be something that is one thing today, something else tomorrow, but take time to be wholly in accord with that which will enable the body to carry out those applications suggested.
-
(Q) Is it possible for me to make friends with […] [[…]‘s family] at …? (A) If ye would make friends, in thyself first be friendly. For, that ye create in thy own mind ye must meet - as every other individual.
-
(Q) Must I take something to make me sleep at present, as I have lost sleep? (A) All that we have indicated if done will make the abilities for the body to rest, to sleep, - IF done consistently! And when ready to rest, determine in self first to do so, - not by thinking of it, but BY RESTING, and ye will sleep.
-
(Q) Has my mind been damaged by lack of sleep? (A) If the body thinks so, yes. If the body will adjust itself, no.
-
(Q) Did the sanatorium harm me? (A) No.
-
(Q) When will I be friends with […]? (A) When ye make friends with […] by being that in self that is desirable.
-
(Q) Will I get well without making friends with […] [[…]‘s family]? (A) This depends. Will tomorrow come? Will next year be rainy or sunshiny? Depends upon what ye DO ABOUT IT!
-
(Q) Any further advice? (A) Do consistently, persistently, prayerfully, all that has been indicated.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R4. 8/31/42 Miss [1540]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Casey [Cayce]:
I am writing to ask you if you can give me a check reading. Even though I have made errors, and didn’t carry the last reading out, I want to do the right thing, and am interested and have a great deal of faith in the work and the truth, and will try harder next time.
I am working some and want to pay for my reading.
An early reply will be so appreciated.
Yours sincerely, (Miss) [1540]
R5. 9/4/42 EC’s reply:
Dear Miss [1540]
Have yours of 31st - I assure you would like the best in the world to be of a real service to you - and am making the appointment for you for the afternoon of the 14th - 3.30 to 4.30 E.W.T. However I really believe what you need however is to take your last reading and apply that in your experience right now - rather than going to the expense of another reading - as you realize am sure - the change has to be in you as to your attitude toward conditions about you
- and believe if you will do that you will find every thing better.
But let me know what you wish - and will be glad to try if you wish it now.
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
