This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of March, 1938, in accordance with request made by Hugh Lynn Cayce, Manager of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., sponsored by Mr. Douglas T. Johnston, Active Member of the Association.

Time of Reading 11:15 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.

1. GC: You will have before you a copy of the message which I hold in my hand, received this morning from Hugh Lynn Cayce. Considering the circumstances surrounding all concerned, you will advise whether or not it is best to make this trip at the time designated - and if so, how.

2. EC: In considering such - while there is anxiety and a great desire on the part of all concerned to make such a connection, for what apparently would be an advantageous situation for not only the future of the Work but for the immediate needs - we find:

3. Would it not be better to consider the information given respecting the manner and modes of arousing or awakening interest in the work of the Association, as done by or through Edgar Cayce?

4. This was given to those Trustees present at the Reading in November; wherein it was given - and it has been given often - that the approach is to be FIRST to the individual, THEN to the classes or groups or masses! [See 254-96, 11/21/37.]

5. Then, let the individual seeking to make such a connection be PERSONALLY convinced that there IS something worthy OF BEING PRESENTED!

6. And then such approaches will come to mean a great deal more to all concerned!

7. Be a little patient, but be consistent.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Then, would it be better for Madame [1553] to come to Virginia Beach as first planned? (A) What has just been said? Whether she is to come, go or what not, let her be first personally convinced! and make an effort for it!

R1. 3/15/38 (Tuesday, 6:50) HLC’s letter: “Just home from N.Y. and have your wire. I take it that situation is not ripe for Carrel. I will so advise Madame [1554] in the morning.”

R2. 3/16/38 HLC’s letter: “It is now time to go over and see Madame [1554] at the … She was sorry that you couldn’t come up - had a lot of nice people for you to meet, but you will see and talk to her next week.”

B1. 3/7/38 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “I have a Mrs. [1554] coming in tomorrow who is interested in a Life Reading and I will write you more fully after I have a visit with her.”

B2. 3/14/38 HLC’s wire from N.Y.C.: “[1554] has friend intimate Carrel willing pay all expenses take readings and arrange meeting Carrel. Give readings 23rd through 26th. Train or I bus down and drive you all back saving money. Dave’s or Harrison’s for readings. I must phone [1554], Wednesday, 16th, so wire me. If necessary question for reading is it advisable consider Madame [1554] Room …, N.Y.C. request for readings in N.Y. for self and close friend, Alexis Carrel?”

B3. 3/14/38 Monday evening, HLC’s letter: “Let me reassure you that I shall not continue my N.Y. stay with telephone calls and wires all reversed. Both my call and wire came after much talking with [257] and Madame [1554]. It seems that this Madame [1554] has a friend who is very close to Carrel. I talked with [257] this morning and explained to him that I considered it foolish to consider a trip here unless it would be possible to have Carrel introduced to the work by a close friend. This [1554] was made definitely aware of in conversation with both [257] and me. She insists that it is an excellent opportunity and if her friend who is close to Carrel is impressed at all it can be easily arranged. I hope you considered it and, if you thought wise, asked a question in a reading. It is foolish to ask for such things as contact with Carrel and not take opportunities if it is a real opportunity.”
