GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, Mr. [1564]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are changes in the general physical forces of the body.
-
In a manner they may be considered not so well, because of some material manifestations; yet as we find, the responding of the system and the ability of the response through rebuilding or replenishing influences or forces in the body may be said to be considerably better.
-
True - with the general strain under which the body has recently gone, through great changes in the altitude, environs, and the NON-adherence to the diet as closely as has been indicated or outlined - there has been produced a condition wherein the circulation through the lungs has been affected so that the lymph has thrown off a great deal of refuse through the mucous which arises there.
-
Just so this strain, however, does not reach such proportions as to cause breaking of the cellular forces - and cause rupture - this is not to be considered disturbing.
-
Then as we find, too, the inclination for the body to lose some weight might be considered by some as a disturbing factor. Should this remain, or increase in this direction, then it might be considered as a condition to be reckoned with. But the fact that these conditions exist, and that the system has taken and does take from the energies to supply the necessary forces for the coordination of the physical and mental activity, indicates the abilities or the rebound, - or the elasticity as to the vitality of the body-forces themselves.
-
Then, as we find, it is necessary that such conditions be taken advantage of, - rather than the neglecting or the overbalancing in any given direction.
-
We would then, as we find, keep those suggestions which have been indicated, - in the use of those properties that will replenish and supply to the activities of the system the necessary influences and forces for the body-building.
-
Keep, then the calcium in a manner as has been indicated; the digestive forces in the form of the Acid in a way that keeps a balance in the system.
-
We would keep, regularly, the inhalations into the lungs of the fumes of the Brandy, and keep this where there is sufficient of the evaporation taking place as to fill the portions of the container or keg with the gas when it is inhaled into the lungs night and morning.
-
To add to the strength, as we find in the present environs and surroundings, - as there is very little of the vital forces as are taken through the respiratory system in this season of the year, especially in the present environs, WE would add the Codiron; this to be taken once each day with the heavy meal, or the heaviest meal taken that day; two tablets taken during the eating. The activity here of the cod liver oil, combined with the iron and the vitamines that are released when this is properly taken during the period when the meal is taken, so as to release same in its activity through the assimilating system, will give greater strength, greater vitality and aid in making for the easing as it were of the associations of the nervous system with the energies of the body; thus allowing for better rest.
-
And this of itself will give better conditions for the system, as it will allow the nerve forces of the body to replenish themselves; and through the very properties that are in the compound will give the added strength to the nerve impulses and forces of the body.
-
In the matter of the diet, - these as have been outlined are very well. But use all those influences which carry a great deal of the sunshine vitamines, as much as the body assimilates. But whenever there is any food taken that becomes a reactionary influence, ease off in the use of such foods.
-
A great deal then of orange and grapefruit, or grapes, or figs, or any citrus fruits; either in their combinations or separately, should be the greater part of some meal, or taken during the day.
-
Beware of any fried foods. Leafy vegetables, - those that carry a great deal of the vital forces as are active by the sunshine are well.
-
Do not use ANY vegetables, however, that have been colored by the use of ANY coloring matter for their preservation or for their color.
-
Fish, fowl and lamb preferably as the meats. Wild game whenever practical.
-
When there are not the eliminations, the occasional use of colonics would be well, for the removal of the inclination for the mucous owing to the general condition through the respiratory system; that there be no reinfection by fecal forces carrying such through the body.
-
These done - consistently, persistently - we should find the body not only gaining some in the weight but keeping near to normal - in the hundred and sixty to seventy-five or eighty, according to the activities of the body.
-
Do not overtax self by too long hours without rest or without the influences of those forces which will keep the body balanced.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please give specifically the hydrotherapy treatments which are advisable? (A) As indicated, when the high colonics are taken, then a thorough, general massage and rubdown - not with too much of the overheating of the body but to purify the perspiratory or superficial circulation. Hence the hot and cold sprays, a thorough massage with or at the time colonics are taken, or occasionally - if these are not necessary - such a workout is advisable.
-
(Q) What is causing the excessive quantity of mucous, produced through coughing? (A) As just indicated, the violent changes and the strain upon the system. These cause the change in the pressure through the system. And naturally there are those disturbances through the lung area, where the balance of the blood pressure - as through the area from the heart to the liver and to the kidneys and to the lungs - is below normal and tends to make for irritation to the membranes. And the flow of the lymph through same causes the coughing, as well as the mucous which arises with same. As indicated, this is something not to be EXCITED about, but rather taken advantage of, - that is, the conditions of the system, through taking and doing and and keeping those things which will make for the more normal balance.
The removal of the poisons through the colon area, as well as in the better assimilation, as well as the better abilities to rest properly, will raise the pressure to a better balance.
-
(Q) What has caused a loss of weight? (A) As has been indicated.
-
(Q) Is the N.Y. climate especially bad for this body? (A) As indicated, there is a great deal in these special seasons the lack of the oxygens from sunshine; and there is a great deal of ammonium that is depressing especially to any with lung disturbances, so that it becomes a hard area for such. But if there are trips taken to warmer climes, or the rests regularly, and the balancing of the system with the properties indicated, these may be carried on - the activities - in this climate.
-
(Q) What causes and what should be done for the catarrhal condition? (A) All of these effects have been indicated, or the treatments for same, in that for the general respiratory system, the eliminations, the alimentary canal, the properties taken internally. All of these conditions which exist through the soft tissue and mucous membranes of the functioning organs have been considered in that which has been suggested.
-
(Q) What causes the insomnia and what can be done to relieve it? (A) As indicated, this arises from the strain which is being produced upon the nerve system, and the removal of poisons or accumulated waste from overexercise, overenergies, and the overbalance produced by conditions which have brought about much of these, will restore the better equilibrium and naturally produce better rest.
-
(Q) Are there any suggestions to be followed, other than those given in previous Reading? (A) As indicated, there are some changes here - and more CONSISTENT use of those things suggested in the previous Reading.
Make the mental forces and the physical activities coordinant and cooperative with the needs of the physical, mental and spiritual body. Let nothing become a drudge. Find harmony, and don’t look for so much of that which is antagonistic in ANY direction, - this is the attitude the body should keep.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/20/39 He obtained a Physical Rdg. for his mother, Mrs. [1824].
R2. 3/14/39 He obtained a Business Reading - See 1564-4.
R3. 10/12/39 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564]‘s excursions to the ball game were certainly fun - while they lasted but immediately thereafter - or even sooner - he developed a good solid congestion in his chest. Dr. Van Rumpt was out of town but when he saw […] Monday morning, [1564] was just an inch removed from a double pneumonia. Van gave him a short jab to the right and one to the left and succeeded in getting ‘drainage’. Fortunately it was his chest he attacked and not his nose, for the drainage was not obvious. By evening most of the congestion was gone, temperature normal, and the patient was very hungry. He has been in bed under ‘orders’ ever since - on a strict diet - (no alcohol) and today, looks as if it were he who had discovered the new world instead of Columbus…”
R4. 4/9/40 He referred employee for a Physical Rdg. for [2165].
R5. 4/25/40 Wife’s letter: ”… [1564] left the coast today and should be here Sat. P.M. or Sunday. I am sure he is not feeling well. His cough is bad and general condition not good. If only he could have some time off from his heavy responsibilities at the office, where he seems to carry everyone’s burdens as his own. A little release from the tension of the business would certainly help him back to health but he is not free to make that choice…”
R6. 5/1/40 Employee’s letter used in 2178-1 Reports.
R7. 7/6/41 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564] plans a month’s vacation…it will be in the nature of a reconstruction period for him.
“He got a very bad cold a few weeks ago - coughed so much it effected his heart and for a while he was in grave danger. That emergency seems past now and what is prescribed for him is rest and change of air - away from his mad-house office.”
R8. 2/4/42 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564] has had a very bad cold for the past few weeks but has sprung out of it…with remarkable ease and now seems to be on the ‘building’ side once again. It is…and always will be the most amazing thing how he can get so low one time and then rise to rapidly again into conditions and strength. His business still pounds away and yet his head is (up to date) above water…”
R9. 2/2/43 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564] left the next day for Akron with an abscessed ear, fever and cold and returned on Tuesday with all these things plus. He went directly to Dr. Van Rumpt from the train and even before he arrived here an oxygen tank was waiting - emergency treatment - which he surely needed. After several days he ‘came back’ and today is well on his way to normalcy, i.e. - he went to the office.”
R10. 4/7/43 Wife’s letter: ”…At present he is in bed these past few days with a diabolical cold and congestion but is not seriously ill.”
R11. 7/3/43 Mrs. [1602]‘s letter to EC: ”…Our readings seem to us important but I felt they could be delayed a little until things were better adjusted in your sphere of action.
“[1564] has wanted and really needs a physical…he is far from well. He has had 2 heart attacks in a week and I know he is trying too hard to keep in the business world, when his body is yelling for rest. He phoned tonight and asked me to write you, regardless of my knowing how busy you are and ask if you can’t possibly squeeze these readings in somewhere. I have put off asking you for so long now that they have all reached the emergency state. I hate like the dickens to even suggest this to you but I feel I must and then leave it in your lap. I am more worried about [1564] than [1581]…”
R12. 8/1/43 [Questions submitted]:
- What is the cause of my shortness of breath and the great difficulty I have in breathing.
- What causes my constant coughing and paroxysms? Can it be helped?
- Will you specifically examine my heart - its actions and reactions, giving causes and suggestions for improvement.
- What is the present condition of my lungs?
- What is my general constitutional condition?
- Has my general condition improved since the information was given a few years ago?
- Will you give specific suggestions for me at this time?
- Any further information that applies to me, physically, mentally, spiritually?
R13. 9/21/43 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564] - also - will not be able to keep his appointment - hope to get them some time in the spring…”
R14. 3/44 Wife’s letter: ”…[1564] seems to have had one darn thing after another all year but on the whole is very much better, generally than he has been in some years. He does need rest tho badly and the prospects for that are rather slim.”
R15. 6/28/49 GD’s note: We heard that Mr. [1564] died about a month ago with T.B. HLC told me he called on them soon after he returned from overseas, that due to Mr. [1564]‘s illness they lived pretty much to themselves.
Mrs. [1472] told me that both Mrs. [1602] and her husband drank quite heavily, that Mrs. [1602] boasted that it was nothing for them to drink a pint of whiskey before dinner, as a regular routine. However, HLC stated that in the last few years they changed to wine.
R16. 2/28/69 Brother-in-law [1597]‘s letter: “The entire [1564] family has passed on. [1564] went first, about 1948, a victim of tuberculosis.”
