This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of April, 1938, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [2175], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, Miss [1566].

2. As we find, there are some improvements in the activities of the digestive forces of the body. There is not yet, as we find, sufficient activity of the stomach as related to the digestive forces through the duodenum; that is, instead of the ability to belch after feeding there is the tendency for regurgitation.

3. Hence, for the present formula, we would put only three-fourths of the quantity of the Karo. And as the bottle is given, we would add about half a teaspoonful of Lime Water in the bottle when ready to feed the baby.

4. We would give the Glyco-Thymoline more often; one minim (one drop) two to three times during the day, to purify and to prevent this fermentation that causes the agony for the body. Continue to give the Glyco-Thymoline until there is the odor of the Glyco from the stool.

5. Don’t feed the body too often. Let a little longer period elapse - three and a half hours; but, of course, if there is fretting or crying then it is necessary to feed. Do not overcrowd, however.

6. And when the body is fed, soon afterwards - or immediately afterwards - as soon as the food is finished, let there be given a gentle massage with camphorated oil, in this manner; the mother may give it: Lay the baby across your left shoulder, or upon the shoulder (with its head up, of course), and then with the right hand dip the fingertips in camphorated oil and gently massage from between the shoulders (down its spine, you see) down to where the bands are - from between the shoulders to the areas opposite or below the stomach. This gentle stimulation to the activities of the reflex forces from the gastric flows will aid in the assimilation, in quieting, and in developing better conditions for the body.

8. (Q) Should the milk still be diluted with water as the bottle is given? (A) This has to be governed by how well assimilation takes place; and will necessitate changing from one time to another.

As we find, though, with the gentle massage as indicated each time after the feeding, it will not be necessary to dilute the milk so much as it is prepared, see?

9. (Q) What can be done to check stools? (A) That’s just why we have given the Glyco-Thymoline!

10. (Q) Why does the baby eat so slowly? (A) As just indicated, because of the lack of the flow from the stomach through the pylorus and the duodenum.

And this massage will stimulate the flow, if given in the manner indicated. Gently.
