This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, there are some improvements from those conditions as we have had here before - just inasmuch as the body has been consistent with the applications suggested; that is, not merely the FORMALITY! but just as the body has been consistent and persistent, the relief has come.

4. As we find in the present, if there will be followed those suggestions that have been indicated heretofore, consistently, persistently, prayerfully, we will find the relief from the nervous headaches, the tired tensions through the system, the lack of the proper eliminations, and the general conditions for greater improvement.

5. If there would be ANY change, we would give only that there be the high colonic or the hydrotherapy treatment given at least twice each month. This would mean that there would be the going to a hydrotherapist, - one that would first give a hot and cold shower, a sitz bath, and a thorough rubdown with a bit of the vapor cabinet bath, - the vapor being the fumes of Pine Oil over the body. Not too much of this, else we will - owing to the lack of the coordination in the superficial and deeper circulation - produce a bit of irritation. But a little of this, with the dry heat, would be most helpful.

6. Do that. This, or course, is not to take the place of the osteopathic adjustments and the activities of the other things and diets indicated - but merely added to same.

8. (Q) Why am I so tired and listless? (A) As indicated, poisons in the system. Do as indicated if we would bring the better forces.

9. (Q) Is there anything in my mental attitude affecting my condition? (A) As indicted, be persistent and consistent, - not merely by matter of rote or routine, but have the ideals and the purposes for SOMETHING, - this will change the mental attitudes.

10. We are through with this Reading.

R1. 12/14/53 Husband requested copy of wife [1584]‘s readings, saying he had recently become interested in ESP and related subjects. He subsequently rejoined as an A.R.E. member for several years.

R2. 6/1/64 She and her husband visited A.R.E. The comments below were made to Mrs. [1523], receptionist:

She reports [says Mrs. [1523]] that she followed through by getting the colonics and using the violet ray - for about six months. She received help from following the suggestions given.

I found her attitude quite significant. She seemed highly impatient, nervous, and said that it was her husband that [has] the faith in the readings, and that she had followed through mostly because he wanted her to. She also said that she was going to follow the suggestions again, since the headaches were coming back. She plans to get X-rays of the coccyx, but was specific about not wanting to take colonics again - “unless I get very sick, then I might.”

Her husband renewed his membership to-day.

R3. 11/5/68 Husband again renewed membership, saying: “I wish I felt about EC’s work in 1938-39 as I feel today… But I guess I wasn’t ready then, so we didn’t follow through as thoroughly as we might have, and I passed up the possibility of a Life Reading.”

R4. 8/19/93 JT’s note: Husband visited the Foundation offices today to obtain copies of his wife’s readings. He reported that Mrs. [1584] passed away in a nursing home in Trotwood, Ohio on March 11, 1991. She had been in the nursing home for two years. She was not suffering from any specific condition, simply stopped breathing. He said she continued throughout her life to suffer with the condition that caused them to seek readings from Mr. Cayce in the first place, severe headaches. “We only made a halfhearted attempt to follow through, we never followed the reading completely. If I had known then what I know today it might have been different.” He will keep in touch and provide us with further information.
