This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of June, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1611], new Associate Membership sponsored by Active Membership Fund of Mrs. [1315] - through recommendation to Hugh Lynn Cayce by Miss [1402].

Time of Reading 10:45 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mrs. [1611].

2. In giving that as we find would be most helpful for this body in the present, it is not so much regarding the physical condition that exists (which is of an abnormal nature); for this is very well understood.

3. And those precautions are being taken as to the necessity for the body-physical to be builded so as to have the abilities to meet that loss of blood; also the ability for the assimilating system to create those necessary influences in the coagulative system. These as we find are showing some improvement.

4. There should be, then, only sufficient time taken for the count to show its increased cellular forces - and the hemoglobin as related to those plasms that create or cause or produce the coagulative forces necessary.

5. A week to ten days, then, under the present environs, should be sufficient to insure the very best under the conditions.

6. Then, the approach for the body is as to that attitude which is to be held and maintained by the body throughout this experience.

7. The body has surrounded itself, filled its mental mind with axioms and suggestions that apparently are being made nil.

8. Yet the body should know, the body should comprehend that all force and power that is manifested - if the attitude is held properly - is of a creative nature.

9. That conditions within the physical have assumed such proportions, then, that it becomes necessary to resort to operative measures, is in keeping with that as He gave; “If thy hand offend thee, cut it off! If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out!”

10. What meaneth these? Is it not that there IS the conformity to that experience, that consciousness which has been and is being builded ever?

11. Now, then, put thyself into the hands of Creative Forces - through that manifested by Him who gave, “Come unto me and ye shall find rest.”

12. These attitudes held will bring that consciousness of healing in a manner that may BE creative in its activity through thy experience.

13. Let thy prayer and meditation be, then, rather that as life and health and strength are given thee, ye dedicate same to the service of the LIVING God!

14. We are through for the present.

R1. 6/25/38 [1611]‘s letter: “I’m getting along fine the doctor says. I sat up a while this morning. The doctor took out a nest of tumors as big as a grapefruit, top of the womb, and appendix which showed signs I had had one attack, and liable for others. I feel pretty all in but must improve quickly. I am very grateful for my friends and their prayers in my behalf. I think this is a turning point in my life. It seems as if all would be totally different now. It must be, for health, finances and all but mentality had reached the very lowest ebb. As soon as I can drive I am going to … to my mother’s, but for the next two weeks I don’t know where I’ll go. I guess I’ll leave here Sat. or Sun. Where I go is right up to God. I had to depend on him in this crisis and it’s up to Him to guide me to my right place and find my channels of good. I have felt your prayers very strongly. I send good thoughts and blessings to you, too, daily.”

R2. 8/30/38 She obtained a second Physical Reading - See 1611-2, in re varicose veins [in arms-thighs prominent, varicose in legs - doctor-surgeon advises treatment], lack of strength, great tiredness, backache; eyes in the last year much weaker.

B1. 5/25/38 Letter:

At the minute, I am on the raw edge of nowhere, that is why I am coming to you. If I am spiritual enough, I am ready to take up your work - if I am wanted. I believe I was led to you divinely. You see I can’t understand why I have not worked out my problems in love, finance and business; I have studied Truth for some time, also Rosicrucian Fellowship (Max Heindel’s) philosophy, also astrology and numerology. For the past few months I have been going to a Truth Centre, Mr. Schaffer in Stineway Hall, “Absolute Truth”, a Peace Centre he calls it. I thought I would become spiritual enough to solve my problems but at present I am at the most ragged edge.

A doctor told me more than a year ago that I should be operated on for a Fibroid tumor on the womb; I felt it could be dissolved by a knowledge of Truth without operation, also a small tumor on my head, so I have treated in Truth for it. Now I am in the midst of the menopause and I am very weak emotionally and physically from the loss of blood; there were two hemorrhages this week.

I have given up smoking, liquor, meat, coffee and tea since the first of the year - to attain spiritual freedom. Just to show you I have endeavored.

The questions I want answered are - Can I heal this tumor myself and regain my health by Truth, or should I have the operation?

How can I find a reason for living, and pick up these broken threads and go on?

How can I, at this late day, make a business success?

My assets - it seems to me - in which I could help your work and help myself are - a very pleasing personality, selling ability, lecturing ability, secretarial ability, a great desire to help others, and a desire to make life worthwhile.

My liabilities - bad health and inability to demonstrate Truth which I believe in. - Resentment and bitterness over the way men have treated me [two husbands who deserted her for other women], although I do try to bless them and not to hold things against them, to know they have the Christ in them and that He, not I, is the judge.

B2. 6/6/38 [1611]‘s letter to EC:

Room 201. Women’s Hospital 110 St. and Ansterdam Ave. New York, N.Y. Monday.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

I thought, inasmuch as you were going to give me a physical reading on Wed. morning next, June 8th, 10:35 - 11:35, that I would drop you a line and let you know that I entered the above Hospital Friday night and I am so run down, so low in red corpuscles, that the gynecologist surgeon Dr. Barrett, has given orders for me to rest and build up before the operation for the tumors on the top of the womb. The hemorrhages and flow have almost stopped. - Dr. Barrett is going away for a few days & expects I’ll be built up in readiness for the operation to take place Tues. P.M. June 14th.

The hospital is lovely, the food & service & nurses also fine. I have a semi-private room, one lady in it who is very nice. She is interested in New Thought, Divine Science, etc. and I am trying to help her & she me. We are going to meditate together at the same time each day. I have told her about your work & she is interested. She is going to meditate with me between 10:15 and 11:45 on Wed. - June 8th.

• Perhaps nurses will come in and out and all that but we are going to try to hold the meditation.

Thank God I joined the N.Y. Hospitalization Unit in 1936 - which pays all hospital bills for 30 days. I felt it was a fine and suitable form of charity $10.00 or bit more a year. Of course this doesn’t include the Dr. though.
