This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1611], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mass.
-
GC: You will give the present physical condition of this body, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be asked.
-
EC: Yes - we have the body here, [1611]; this we have had before.
-
There are many changes in the general physical forces of the body, and specific changes, since last we had same here.
-
As we find, the operative measures have been very successful.
-
But for the best physical forces of the body, there ARE corrections that need to be made in the general physical functionings in the present.
-
The drain upon the whole of the assimilating system, through the tumorous nature of the disturbance, has altered the activities of the blood supply in such a manner that there has been the inclination for the system to create those influences in the lymph supply which have not been and are not being cared for.
-
This produces the flushes that occur in the body at times, followed by weakness and the inclination for the body to feel rather draggy; and inactive especially in the lower portion of the body.
-
Where there have been and are the effects indicated of too great a superficial circulation, in the form of enlarged veins, these apparently show greater disturbance when the body is on the feet - at times now - than formerly.
-
There needs be, then, as we find, at least ten to fifteen THOROUGH osteopathic adjustments; that the equilibrium of the body may be set as it were in order. This would mean releasing along the whole of the cerebrospinal system, and especially in the upper dorsals and through the cervicals; then the 9th dorsal and the 4th lumbar plexus. These more specific; though if all the segments of the cerebrospinal system were brought into play in the activity through the mechanical adjustments it would relieve the tension throughout the system.
-
When there is a little cooler weather, it would be well that the body especially wear the elastic - heavy elastic stocking, or brace in the form of the elastic, over the limbs where the tensions from the superficial circulation in the form of the veins are causing some disturbance. Not to irritate same, but as the adjustments make for a change in the supply of the circulatory forces, we will find that these conditions will gradually be relieved.
-
Just before the body retires at night, it would be well to use the Violet Ray (hand machine, bulb applicator). Do not take this for more than a minute and a half or two minutes. This would be principally along the spine; and over the head, neck and shoulders - and across the lumbar and sacral areas - which may be applied by the body itself - or it would be preferable for the body to apply it herself, other than that portion of it for the spine - but this also may be applied by self when not convenient for another to do so.
-
This will make for the abilities of the body to rest better. It will tend to make for strengthening of the body, by the toning of the circulation - as combined with the adjustments that are taken.
-
The correct diet should consist particularly of those foods that carry an abundance of iodine AND calcium. Hence as we find, especially shell fish and fish of all kinds would be well; preferably, though, NOT fried!
-
Also Calcios would be well to be taken about once a day; just the quantity as might be spread over a wafer or cracker. Once a day would be sufficient for this, if the other part of the diet is followed properly.
-
Plenty of leafy vegetables, fish and fowl should form the better part of the diet. Not too much bread, but let that as taken be rather the whole wheat or rye and wheat bread.
-
These as we find, with the proper precautions, should make for such corrections as to bring the better forces for this body, Mrs. [1611].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What will help the eyes and correct same? (A) With the general treatments, and with the increase of the circulatory forces by the revivification of the nerve forces through the electrical treatments as indicated, these should be materially aided.
-
(Q) What will relieve the backache? (A) The corrections and electrical forces.
-
(Q) How may I gain more strength? (A) All of these things as indicated have been for this!
-
(Q) What osteopath would be suggested? (A) Any in sympathy with or that will follow the suggestions indicated!
Do these things indicated.
- We are through with this Reading.

R1. 9/30/38 Mrs. [1611]‘s letter to EC:
…, St., …, Mass.
Dear Mr. Cayce: -
Thank you for your continued interest in my case.
I have started in with a very fine osteopath. He is the best in this vicinity, I believe, and is also an M.D. I told him all about you and your work. He read the directions, the booklet on “The River” and is now reading the article by Mr. Sugrue. As I attended two meetings at Mrs. [1402]‘s home in N.Y.C. and the public meeting at the N.Y. Life Ins. Bldg. and talked at length with your son, I do feel I know quite a bit about your work, and I’m glad to pass on this information wherever possible. This osteopath who is W. H. Wallace, M.D. and D.O. [Wilford H. Wallace, M.D., D.O.] of 47 West Elm St., Brockton, Mass. is much interested. He was quite amazed that your directions were so authentic. He found the feet, too, in bad condition.
- He says if I will try not to worry about money and positions, relax and not be tense, I’ll soon be feeling very differently. -
I couldn’t seem to borrow an electric vibrator. If I was sure I could get a good position soon, I’d feel differently I guess but I hate being in debt and - my old New England conscience still works overtime - pride and all that.
I’ve taken two treatments. I can feel how necessary they are but as yet there is no improvement. I feel he is a fine man however, but the emotional upsets and hard work, added to the aftermath of a major operation, do keep me down.
You see I did try to solve my problems, physical, financial and mental in Truth, something like Christian Science for two years - what do you think of Christian Science?
When I get back to N.Y. I intend to attend some of the Psychic Research lectures on W. 23rd St. I met several people who are interested there, at Mrs. [1402]‘s and they asked me to be sure to come.
I will write you again when I get to feeling better.
With very kindest regards,
Sincerely yours, [1611]
R2. 10/3/38 EC’s letter to Mrs. [1611]:
Dear Mrs. [1611]
Thanks for yours of the 30th - am glad to know that you have an excellent Osteopath, and am sure will you follow his instructions that in a very short time you will see lots of improvement. But you must do your part.
C.S. has it place I feel in human experience - and there are people and conditions that it will - answer to that something within them as nothing else - that must be aroused - is help to come. The information has suggest such often times - But there is the body-physical - the body-mental - and the body-spiritual - just as the Father Son and Holy Ghost - they are one just as our bodies here are one - but He in the flesh subject to all the limitations of the flesh - so are we - and we meet conditions in the phases of our experience. He did not tell them all the same thing for their Healings - but each to their consciences. so with us. Might go on and on - but the answer must ever come to the development of the individual from within - for the Kingdom of Heaven is within each of us - and the power of knowledge is within - and the use of that power.
Yes the Psychic society is doing some good work - and meets the need of those in that conscience, if you have the time the meetings are well am sure.
Thank you for your letter - and let us hear often - we are glad to try and help along the way.
With all good wishes
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

INDIVIDUAL CASE REPORT
Date of Readings: June 8 & Aug. 30, Case No.: 1611-1 & 2 1938.
(PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS CAREFULLY)
(1) In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? Yes, exactly.
(2) Give symptoms of condition described correctly? I feared an operation. Mr. Cayce said, “It is absolutely necessary and you are in good hands.” After operation, osteopathy prescribed - and suggestions offered which the D.O. followed and concurred in.
(3) What was the physician’s analysis of this condition? Same as Dr. Cayce’s.
(4) Have the suggestions given in the Reading been followed exactly as outlined? Yes, except I was unable to take but a few Osteopath treatments - or the diet, as I was not financially in a position to do so.
(5) For how long? Several weeks.
(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? It definitely allayed my fear of the operation, gave me confidence and hope. I feel thousands of operations are made and many are not necessary. I am against them, and medicine, in so far as possible.
(7) Comment.

R5. 2/2/68 “I had the privilege of a rdg. before a serious operation, in July 1938, by Mr. Cayce… During 1940-41 and ‘42 I was in Florida in hotel business. During these years I had the urge to go to Va. Beach many times; I wish I had. However, I am seasick, carsick, plane sick and all the rest of it, and that was partly what stopped me from joining you. I retired in June 1965, not being well and being fed up with my job. Since then I have been sick most of the time. Major surgery April 1 - May 1, 1966, after which arthritis has developed badly and has grown worse and worse, so that I can hardly walk… Jess Stearn’s book is too marvellous for words! I am going to try to follow the instructions therein for arthritis… I wish I had gone to Va. Beach while there was time.”
