This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of October, 1938, in accordance with request made by the grandfather - Mr. [843], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, - with special reference to growth in lower part of abdomen; giving cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1712].

3. As we find, the general developments physically and mentally of the body are very good.

4. Irrespective of the condition existent in the broken cellular force which has formed itself into a fatty cyst, there needs to be consideration given to replenishing the blood supply - not only with the operative forces (which as we find would be necessary) but afterwards; and to keeping vitamins that are necessary for the better development of the body.

5. But these as we find should be given in such a way and manner as to coordinate with the system, and not the system gradually depend upon same.

6. Hence as we find, we would take the Halibut Oil with Viosterol; about one pellet every other day, with a glass of milk - or when drinking milk, see? This would be kept up especially throughout the periods of the winter months, - consistently.

7. And keep the body in the open and sunshine as often and as much as is practical with the general conditions.

8. As to the condition which has developed here: This as we find is a broken cellular force, or a cell, that is accumulating - and would gradually become a growth.

9. So long as it is not static, nor stayed in the present, - that is, so long as it is able to be moved, as we find it is not so harmful; but SHOULD there become an injury, or through some manner this cause a greater strain, then it would adhere or join to some portion of the body, or even to the lining of the lower portion of the abdomen - in such a manner as to become practically a very serious disturbance.

10. Hence while the body is young, as we find it would be the more practical for this to be removed; for it would mean very little in the present, if carefully removed, and consistently - consistent with the general condition; save for the natural period of time for recuperative forces, no inconvenience should be experienced by same.

11. Then, we would have same removed.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Is the body physically able to stand a surgical operation for the removal of the growth? (A) As indicated, it will be very well if there’s a little time given for body building, with the better blood supply. But it is in very good condition, if these applications are kept in the manner indicated for body and blood building afterwards - with these additional properties for the assimilating forces of the system.

14. (Q) About how long should it take the body, under these conditions, to be ready for the operation? (A) It’ll be ready, of course, immediately - if the general tests show that it is in proper condition, see?

15. (Q) Would you advise that we have Dr. W. P. Herbert, surgeon, of Asheville, N.C., to perform the operation? (A) Dr. Herbert is very good, and is well in keeping with the proper consideration of the general conditions which exist.

R1. 10/27/38 Grandfather’s letter: “The reading for my grandson was very good indeed. We are going to take your advice and have the operation performed within the next 10 days and we will continue the treatment suggested by you in order to build up his blood supply and general strength. I marvel at your ability to have been able to tell us that his blood supply needed attention, and I want you to know that your diagnosis and treatment suggestions were just 100% correct. Fourteen months ago he had an accident when a bicycle struck him and made a long gash in his head causing the loss of considerable amount of blood, and before he recovered from that experience he became a victim of whooping cough last spring and he was just getting over the acute stages of that disease when we discovered the fatty cyst which you mentioned. So, he was somewhat run down, as you stated, although he is in fairly good condition and can probably stand the proposed operation alright. Will write you more about his case after the operation as I intend to have a Pathologist to examine the cyst after it is removed…”

B1. 10/17/38 Grandfather’s [843] letter: “I received your letter stating that you would give me a Life Reading on the afternoon of the 19th, and I shall observe that time unless you wire me that you are unable to also give a physical reading for my grandson this week. I have just found out that my grandson, [1712], age 4, and residing at …, N.C., has a growth of some sort in the lower center portion of his abdomen and it is about the size of the end of your thumb, can be moved - without pain - from the upper part of his scrotum up and into his abdomen, and it cannot then be felt, but when he stands up again, this peculiar tumor-like growth will drop down again. Four doctors have examined him the past few days, and they admit that they do not know anything about the character of the growth, yet all are of the opinion that it should be surgically removed without any delay. Now, I want you to give my grandson a physical reading THIS WEEK, if possible - even if you have to use the time which you have allotted for my Life Reading, and then write me - giving me another appointment for my Life Reading. Of course, you understand that I feel that my grandson’s physical reading is more important at this time than my Life Reading, and I believe you will concur in this opinion. In the physical reading for my grandson, I want you to state what his present physical condition is - biring correct diagnosis of the character of the peculiar growth in his lower abdomen and advise specifically what should be done about it. Should the growth be removed immediately by surgical means or should we postpone such an operation? If surgery is not indicated please advise what treatment should be used in order to eliminate the growth. Is my grandson physically able to stand a surgical operation for the removal of the growth? If surgical removal is indicated, please advise if we should get Dr. W. P. Herbert, Surgeon of Asheville, N.C. to perform the operation, if not whom? Is the growth causing any irritation or inflammation at this time? Will the growth go away without the use of remedial or surgical measures? Is there any danger that the growth might be bruised or injured and then turn into a cancer? Will the growth endanger the health and life of the body if remedial or surgical measures are not used. Give any other information or advice which will aid this body most. Please arrange the above questions in proper sequence - so you can give my grandson the best information regarding his present condition…”
