This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1747], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We find a great deal of reverting to old disturbances, where there is the lack of the proper vitality being carried through the system - as there has been a general inclination through the body for tissue in circulation to separate.

3. This causes a great deal of poison and toxic forces to arise throughout the body, tending to produce inflammation at times between the lymph and the regular circulation.

4. These, of course, indicate the abilities of the body to become subject to infectious forces.

5. As we have outlined heretofore, the general stimulation to the central nervous system by gentle osteopathic manipulations is very helpful.

6. Also we find at the present time that a great deal of hydrotherapy would be most helpful for the body; not necessarily taken more often than once a week, but at such periods we would at least twice a month have also the high colonic irrigation, as well as the Fume Baths (not too much) from such as Pine Oil or Wintergreen. Such a Fume Bath would be taken, with a little of the Dry Heat at the same time, and then a thorough rubdown afterwards with first the salt rum and then after that a thorough rubdown with rub alcohol.

7. These, with the general manipulations as we have indicated heretofore, should bring about a disappearance of the headaches, the lack of the ability to sleep, the languid and tired feeling especially from the hips downward; and the appetite will also be much better.

8. Keep away from those things that are too much of a starchy nature. Have plenty of those that are body-building, - which necessarily means SOME starches combined with such as green vegetables, - beans, lentils and such natures that have combinations of iron with the other properties; as well as butterbeans, shelled beans and peas and the like occasionally. Fish, fowl and lamb should be the principal meats. All of these would be most helpful for this body.

10. (Q) What shall I do for the spot under my arm? (A) This as we find will be relieved by the daily application of an ointment prepared in this manner: Take Plantain - that grows about the yard, you see - and bruise and cook this with thick cream, and then apply as a lotion.

11. (Q) The pain at times on the left side of chest? (A) This should be relieved by the manipulations.

12. (Q) What is it that comes in front of my eyes? (A) The weakness, the nerve fatigue.

13. (Q) What is the pain in my back? (A) The effect of the poisons upon the general system, as has been indicated in the first portion of that given.

Do those things as outlined; we will find the better condition for this body.

R8. 9/13/40 [1747]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Having good intentions of giving you a report on my reading long before this, I hope you will pardon the delay.

For years I had been in such a state of health, that althou I was not sick in bed, I was so tired and lacked the vitality to do or try to do anything. With frequent seizures of boils and infections.

In the year of 1936, the condition becoming worse also the ankles swelling. On consulting Dr., found a tumor in the uterus which resulted in the removal of the same along with other organs.

After a year of convalescence still feeling the same also pains in chest and back soreness along the bone of arms and fingers.

I decide on my first reading. On the recommendation of Mrs. [1100].

The reading was correct in every respect and on following the suggestion given I find I have more vitality and ambition than ever before.

In the second reading I consulted about a sore in the armpit. Which persisted to bother me regardless of what I would do about it. The Doctor was unable to heal it for me.

The spot was itchy then became very sore somewhat like a galled condition.

In following the suggestion, it was cleared up in twelve applications and has not bothered me since.

Thanks for yours of the 19th - also for the report on your brother [2206], do hope he comes along alright. No it is not easy to get people to conform to the suggestions in the readings at times, they really have to find in the information something that answers to a something within for any good much to come from same, even tho there may be just some mechanical adjustment to be made or some addition to the bodily needs from some drug or diet.

Thank you for your interest and do hope every thing works out for your brother in a satisfactory way and manner.

Wish you might see our new offices - while haven’t finished up as yet they are taking shape, and with the help of those interested we will sometime get things arranged and can handle the work better - and trust be of a real greater service to many more, in some ways and manners at least.

I am writing to you for some more case reading and literature.

My brother wishes to use some of your literature and case readings as material for a class in physiology.

He is taking Physiology in College.

His teacher is going to conduct a radio program and experiment similar to which you conducted on the radio.

I hope this meet with your approval, and this means of publicity will benefit someone who needs your help.

Whatever you think would be necessary to bring these facts to those who are searching for the truth will be heartily appreciated.

Pardon the delay in answering yours of the 16th - but have just returned from a three weeks stay in N.Y.

Am sending you data under separate cover - hope it is in line with what your brother wishes to use - however would suggest that you send any data that you might use after being prepared for us - and before you use it on the Air to the chairman of the Publications committee, Mr. Sugrue who is now here with us preparing to write the story of my life.

Believe that would simplify matters for you if you would do that and might help your brother also with his facts.

Dear Mr. Cayce.

I received your letter and literature some time ago. And I think I must of gave you the wrong impression when I wrote.

When I mentioned the radio broadcast it was not my brother that was going to give it but his teacher.

Since then the teacher has undertaken some work connected with the defense program and has laid aside this experiment. I feel much disappointed about it. But that is the way it stands. Although my brother gave him the literature that you sent me and I pray that he will undertake to make use of it at some future time.

I would very much like to have a copy of the book that you have told me about, “Such is the Kingdom” by Thomas Sturgan Sugrue?] (I guess that is the right author).

What information can you give on the research studies of the bible that I have heard you mention in your letters?

How much does to [it?] cost to obtain them?

May I have a copy of each of reading that you gave to my brothers, [2341], [2206] of …, Ohio.

It is surely true that it is uphill work to bring your work to those whom one comes in contact with. And as the Master Jesus said “None are so blind as those who will not see.”

So MANY people that I have tried to interest in your work that seem to it a very nice story but not quite true.

And I feel so sorry for them because they need your help so much.

They are really very nice people. But lack the something to understand or try and if they do try follow it up as was given to them.

Dear Miss [1747]:

Thank you for yours of the 9th - Mr. Sugrue will autograph the copy of “Such is the Kingdom” that will make it a special copy and will be sent you in next few days.

Oh yes, guess I did misunderstand about the broadcast - well whenever the Teacher gets around to where he may use it it will be alright, and hope can be of some help.

We have considerable interest in the Bible studies. We began Jan., was a year ago, reading the Bible chapter by chapter and discussing same in the group. The group locally has grown from three or four outside our family to some twenty three or five all are pretty regular, besides something like the same number take the reports by mail. These reports are sold by the Secy, for 10 cents each meeting report think you might like these if you are interested in a thing of that sort - have many lovely comments from those to whom they are sent, and that number is increasing just as the local group is - think there are some 60 or more of the leaflets, they are prepared so as to be put in a Folder that you may keep them for reference if you like. Will have the Secy of group write you if you would like to see or have them she might send you a sample and let you see what they are like.

Will have Miss Davis the Assn Secy, make and send you copies of your Bro’s readings.

Certainly can appreciate your experience in trying to tell others about the work, and just as you say, they look at you and think it a very good story but not something to be believed in - you will have to be like Mrs. [1100] who possibly first told you about it - just tell them, and say now it is up to you to do as you see fit about it. If tho there is any data - reports or the like that we can send that might help you out will be glad to send them. Or any questions that may bother you at any time - write me will do best we can - but let the know there they have to seek - it cannot be done for them.

We are keeping fairly busy - and from the reports am sure doing some good, many of them are quite unique for instance this is part of a letter this morning from some one have never seen.

“Your suggestion for cure was perfect. I took your advice and followed your treatments and low and behold I no longer sneeze.”

As you may surmise this was what was called rose-fever or hay-fever and she was in quite bad shape or so have been told.

But of course only those who will try it can get the help.

I am sending to you twenty-five dollars to be used in the following manner.

Twenty as physical reading for a deserving person.

Four for the building fund.

One for the cost of copies of my brother’s reading.

Dear Miss [1747]:

I received your letter with the enclosure of twenty-five dollars. It made me very happy to have you call on me even for so small a service. I hope that you will feel at liberty to do so many times in the future in any way that I can be helpful, or of service to you.

The building fund is such a worthy “project”. The extracting of the information under various subject headings has begun. If it is at all possible for you to attend the Congress this June, I’m sure you will find many interesting and informative things to read in the loose-leaf-books, as well as other reading matter we have in the library.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I was very much pleased to receive your short letter and description of my aura.

Also I want to thank you again for the jelly. The flavor has such a nice tart apple taste.

As for the aura you say there are changes. Well they have occurred. Due of course to my own decisions.

Whether the change is for the better it will take time to find out.

I do not want you to worry or pass judgement on it so I am not going into detail about it.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Present health is not very good. The glands are sore and head feels sluggish, also boil and hives breaking out over body.

Should I repeat the treatment given when I first consulted you or should I get another reading as to the condition at the present time?

If so what are the underlying factors of this condition?

I have contact Mr. [2439], a man that asked for a reading when he was in Florida. At the time of the reading he had left the appointed place and he feels that you have contacted someone else instead of himself although I have tried to tell him that you hadn’t.

I told him to write to you again and ask you any questions he so desires and you would be glad to help him in any way possible that it is in your power.

Would in the meantime try out that first suggested, and then have your questions here before the 21st.

Thank you for suggesting to Mr. [2439] writing me - certainly would like to check up and see what is what, please insist that he write us and we will check up and see what the information has to say.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I thank God every day for you, his channel, in which he has made it possible for me, to bring to those folk who are willing to try, health, love, & joy.

I hope some day to become strong enough so he will be able to use me also, that doubt, uncertainly confusion will melt away. Then I will know no FEAR.

As to the questions for the reading.

What is principle factor of the infection on my body? What is the cause of the sluggish, dizzy, foggy condition in my head? Why does the sympathetic nervous systems feel like they were on fire? The lack of strength, the fevers in the joints, the poor circulation?

Well I guess that is all.

I have received three lovely letters from Mrs. [1100], Mrs. [2441] & Mrs. [2520].

You know even the loss of my job, has not diminished the love & joy that I felt while at Virginia Beach. You people were so kind & loving that I would lose forty jobs to feel again that pleasure of your company. [1747]

R27. 4/14/52 Report on 1747-2:

2nd Physical Reading:

Had been subject to boils, and infections since a child, also sick headaches.

Applied the Vapo Bath treatment and took the colonics to the best of my ability.

The spot under my arm was like a galled spot, after applying the lotion it has disappeared and never returned. (Had many abscess in the pit of arms for years.)

I still have the condition of the eyes but it is not so bad.

And still have the back condition but not so bad.

The following verbally submitted:

My reason (primarily) for seeking a second reading is as follows: When I was in my teens, I used to have boils or something that would be described as boils. A large hard lump (which didn’t have a core) would form under my arms. I would try to deflate this but with no success. I finally went to the doctor and he would lance it. Then it would deflate, and once nitrate of silver was applied after the lancing. I would have these first under one arm and then under the other. On the occasions when I did not go to the doctor, I would just wait for it to break or eliminate by itself, at which time the sticky liquid would just pour from under my arms, and immediately after the hole from which the liquid came would seal over, leaving no scab or scar of any kind. Along with this condition I would have boils come on various parts of my body, - not my face, however. I finally outgrew the boils, etc. and not until after my operation and after following the suggestions in my first reading, I discovered that I would itch under my arms. Unconsciously I would scratch myself - and a sticky solution would emit - and make my skin raw. This was my reason for seeking my second reading.

I did follow the reading just as it was outlined. I only took one series of treatments and the condition in the arm pits, pain in side, and pain in my back disappeared.

I often go back to this reading and repeat the suggestions given, for cleansing purposes. The condition of the eyes cleared to a great extent, but will still come back when I am tired.
