Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, D.C.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, there are many conditions that must be taken into consideration here, if there would be any material help in the physical disturbances with the physical body.
-
The body mentally has a capacity for many things, yet these have in the experiences - not in this present environ, and yet, too, in some directions in the present - have not been in keeping with that which prevents the suffering and those things which prevent the individual from enjoying or engaging in much that others would or might.
-
The lessons must be gained for the spiritual and mental self.
-
If these are to be rejected, if these are to be looked upon other than as opportunities for the better development for the innate or inner self, then information from here may not be of a help, - unless all such is considered.
-
That the activities of locomotion and usefulness have become static is indicated by the actual physical forces. Yet as we find, through persistent and consistent application, helpful material benefits may be brought to the body, IF there is a turning to the greater looking for and the application of the divine within, and IN that attitude applying those forces as may be combined in their effect to bring such about.
-
Where the limbs and the portions have become static, there would be the use of Peanut Oil daily as a rub; just what the body may absorb. This would be done gently, yet persistently, consistently, just before the hour of preparation for rest of an evening, - and done prayerfully.
-
About twice a week; or preferably in this manner, take - in the beginning - one drop of the Oil Germ of Wheat; this taken once each day for a period of two weeks, then increase to two minims for another two weeks; then increase to three minims for another two weeks. Not more than these. After the third series, rest for a period of two weeks; then begin all over again.
-
Keep these with that attitude, that desire to use the abilities in a manner that they may be to the greater glory of the Divine, - thus we may bring help.
-
Ready for questions.
-
In the diet, - not that which is too much for the body ever, but that is easily assimilated.
-
Either do these in the manner indicated, or DO NOT do them at ALL!
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 1/17/39 [1769]‘s letter to EC:
The … Apartment 41 Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am [1769] for whom you made a reading a few days after Christmas. I have obtained the peanut oil and the Wheat Germ Oil, and am anxious to start the treatment. But before beginning, I am writing to ask you about the taking of the latter, concerning which the instruction are a bit confusing. At first they speak of taking it twice a week, then of taking it each day. May I ask you to write me, please?
Very sincerely yours,
R2. 1/19/39 EC’s letter to [1769]:
Dear Miss [1769]
Thank you for yours of the 17th - yes one might easily be confused regards the manner of taking the Oil of wheat - but think you will see the first part “about twice a week” was changed to - “preferably” that is begin taking this in the small doses as suggested - rather than the “twice a week” -
Would then have the Oil rub with the Peanut oil DAILY and the Germ oil - as directed one drop each day for two weeks then increase to two drops for two weeks - then three drops for two weeks then begin again with one drop for two weeks and then two - and three for two weeks each for three periods; that is of the entire performance then rest for two weeks and begin all over again - with the one drop and so on
- but keep up the Rubs regularly.
When you have had this for say the third series - would like to check up - and see what is happening to you - if you like.
Of course Miss [1769] you understand it is much in the attitude you undertake this as to how much good it will do you. According to thy Faith so be it unto you - might well apply am sure
Thanking you - and May HIS blessings be with you for better health
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

…, Avenue Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Cayce
You asked me to write you when the first series - eighteen weeks - of my treatments had been completed. Yesterday I took the last three drops of oil in the first series, though of course the rubbing continues as usual. I am sorry to report no apparent improvement in my condition, but I am not in the least discouraged, and am open to any suggestions you might make. I haven’t missed a day with either oil, and have been careful to keep my mind in a prayerful attitude while being rubbed.
We expect to go away for the summer about June 15, so I hope to hear from you before then.
With every good wish, I am Very sincerely yours, [1769]

…, Ave. Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thank you for your letter, and please be assured that I will continue the treatments with patience and diligence. I am very much interested in the check reading, and especially so since I did not know when the first reading took place. Between ten-thirty and eleven-thirty on the morning of June eighth will be perfectly convenient for me, and will you please tell me exactly what to do to cooperate with you during that time, as I want to help you in every possible way. Being aware of my physical defects, I shall not be frightened nor discouraged, nor worried by anything that you might find in this check reading. To the contrary, I shall welcome and be grateful for any enlightening information.
Hoping to hear from you before June eighth, I am
Very sincerely yours, [1769]

Dear Miss [1769]:
Just received yours of the 1st this morning. As have been out of the city to see my youngest boy Edgar Evans Cayce, Duke University] Graduate - hope this reaches you before the hour for the reading tomorrow. During that time just pray and meditate - asking that the best possible may come to you at this time. That is the best way to cooperate.
