This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of June, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1769], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:30 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1769].
-
Now as we find, there is little or no apparent betterment externally in the ability of locomotion or the controlling of same in the body at present; yet we find that there is a most beneficial condition, and a most hopeful and helpful one, to the superficial circulation and to the activity of the nerve impulses.
-
As we find, now, - while this, of course, will be a disagreement for the ones even that are making the applications, or for the time being:
-
There should be begun, about once each week (and preferably, if convenient, do it on Thursdays), a gentle massage - but OSTEOPATHICALLY done, and not attempting to adjust along the cerebrospinal system; ESPECIALLY in those areas from the 6th dorsal to the end of the spine. And (for the Osteopath) keep JUST THAT, once each week, for the next six to ten weeks. Take at least thirty to sixty minutes to give this gentle massage. At the end of ten weeks we would give further instructions for the osteopath.
-
Also keep up those rubs which have been indicated.
-
We would begin also with the use of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying one day the vibration of Atomidine, the next day Spirits of Camphor. The attachments would be made as follows:
-
The first day, when using the Atomidine (half commercial strength), the small copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar center, while the larger nickel plate - through which the vibration of the Atomidine passes - would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, or - on THIS body - three fingers (toward the right) from the navel center, and one finger above the line that would come across same.
-
The next day, when using the Camphor (full strength Spirits of Camphor), the small copper plate would be attached to the brachial center, or 2nd and 3rd dorsal plexus, - that is, the area between same, - while the larger nickel plate - through which the vibration of the Camphor passes - would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, the same as the day before.
-
The attachments would be alternated each day in this manner, as indicated, and would be kept attached for thirty minutes. Of course, have separate connections for each Solution. These are not both to be used on the same day, you see, but alternated, one used one day, the other used the next day, and attached in the manner indicated for each. Alternate same regularly in the way outlined.
-
Keep this also for ten weeks.
-
Then we will give further instructions.
-
Keep the same mental attitude for being good FOR something.
-
We are through with this Reading.
Copy to Self ” ” Ass’n file ” ” Miss [1612]
(See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath. We would refer you to Dr. Lulu Irene Waters, 1707 Columbia Rd., Washington, D.C., who has had experience with following Mr. Cayce’s Readings and will perhaps cooperate better in this case than it would be possible to get a perfect stranger to his work to do.
See article and illustration [which were enclosed] regarding Wet Cell Appliance, and where obtained. When ready to use this, get Osteopath to mark ON the body the places for attachment, as indicated in Reading. If you feel the need of consulting someone familiar with Mr. Cayce’s work in regard to use of this Appliance, we would refer you to one of our members near you, who is also a trained nurse and has used one of these Appliances: Mrs. Lillian B. Whitmore, Tilden Hall Apts., 3945 Connecticut Ave., Washington, D.C. She would be delighted to help you in any way.
Let us know when you are ready for the next Check Reading.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/10/39 EC’s letter to [1769]: “Hope you find the last reading most interesting and most of all helpful with the application, of course will take time-patience-and persistence, but feel sure you will find yourself more than repaid for all the trouble, hope some time in the near future to be in Washington and see and talk with you - have some friends [Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Poss] from there coming to the Beach the 18th to spend a week-they have had most wonderful results with the work and are quite enthusiastic about same. And just hope very soon you will be just as much so. They have recently builded a new home. Am anxious to see it and hope possibly to go back with them for a day or so.
“Please let us hear from you as we feel a very personal interest in seeing you get positive results with the suggestions.
“Hoping to be of a real service…”
R2. 6/10/39 [1769]‘s letter to EC: “Thank you for the copy of the check reading which came this morning. I am leaving for our camp in the Adirondack Mountains on Tuesday, June thirteenth where we will spend the summer. We have no electricity, and of course no facilities for the new treatment suggested, so you will hear from me on my return to Washington in October…”
R3. 6/10/39 Miss [1612]‘s letter: “Enclosed find check for $10.00 to cover check reading for Miss [1769]. The copy is very interesting and I feel sure she will be helped.”
R4. 6/13/39 EC’s letter: ”…I do hope the suggestions for Miss [1769] will be helpful. Seems too bad that there has to be a delay in her following it through, but am sure the trip will be just as helpful for her and the anticipation of the help that may come should add to the joy of trying it out a bit later…”
