This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of August, 1942, in accordance with request made by the mother, Mrs. [480], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:35 to 10:45 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Michigan.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1788]; this we have had before.

3. There are some improvements.

4. As we find, the acute conditions arise from an upsetting of the digestive system. And the body, being sensitive, responds to those anxieties and anticipations about the body.

5. The eliminations should be set up with alternated broken doses of Castoria AND Syrup of Figs; about half a teaspoonful about every hour apart. This is being done, you see.

6. After there has been good elimination, massage the body - after a tepid bath - with a weakened solution of GRAIN alcohol; not the rub alcohol but grain alcohol, especially along the spine - base of brain to the end of the spine.

7. THEN massage especially between the brachial centers and the central portion of the back, and across the hips, or the sacral and lumbar, with Cocoa Butter.

8. As we find, keep the body quiet, and the food mostly that of a pre-digested nature - or milk and cereals.

9. These should bring very soon the normal forces for this body.

10. Beef tea would be well to give also, to supply strength.

11. Do this.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Does the temperature come from upset stomach? (A) It comes from the upset stomach, as indicated.

14. (Q) Was there something specific he ate that caused the upset? (A) As just indicated, a combination of the sensitiveness of the body to the excitement about it, and the anticipations of changes in activities, - these brought about the temperature.

R1. 8/1/42 Remarks when GD phoned the reading: “Isn’t that peculiar? [1788] HAS been excited about our planned trip; also I’ve noticed that he has been quite excited for the last three weeks since he’s been going to a play school - that may have something to do with it. Do you think we can go away with him tomorrow? I started on the Castoria and Figs last night when Mr. Cayce told me.”

R2. 8/18/42 Mother [480]‘s letter to EC: “Just as the reading indicated [1788] responded very soon and after following directions we were able to leave Sunday morning. We went to Harbor Springs, Michigan, a delightful spot. [633] and I both needed the change badly and [1788] gained weight and slept beautifully there. He knows how to “dog paddle” now and is quite proud of himself. He’s a very independent child and we had to be very watchful of him [1788] in the water.

“Thank you for being so prompt with [1788]‘s reading. I feel sure now that it is too exciting for him in school. He hadn’t been right since he started this summer, but he has had a red throat almost every time. I think we had better have two check readings for the children. Make an appointment convenient to you and I will get my questions down in the meantime.

“So glad Hugh Lynn expects to be a papa, it’s a thrill to watch them grow and being Grandparents is having all the pleasure and none of the worries of parents - it’s an ideal arrangement for GRANDPARENTS.

“I’m mailing Gladys a little something this week. I know she’ll be happy in her place. The best of luck to her.

“Thank you again and our love to you all…”

R3. 8/27/42 EC’s letter to Mother [480]: “Pardon for not replying to yours of the 18th sooner - but I left here for a little business trip west - and made it a bit of vacation also and only got back Tuesday night - nice trip and saw lot of the old home folks, but many many of them have gone, and others grown up until you know no one. Went alone but hope to get Gertrude off next week for few weeks but Sally and H. L. say she has to be back before the 1st of October - for as Sally says she is sure Gertrude will have to hold H. L.’s hand.”

“Mighty glad that [1788] responded so nicely and you were able to have your trip. That is fine. Glad you had a lovely trip - yes, where they are so independent you certainly have to keep a check on them.

“Am making the appointments for the check up for the children for the morning of the 5th. Hope that will be alright - let me have the questions before that time.

“Well, I think Gertrude is very much exercised over the fact that there is to be a baby in the family. She loves children so - and suppose it makes a difference that they are your Grandchildren can hardly imagine that for myself but suppose will be about as crazy as the next one about it when it arrives - Sally is a mighty sweet girl and seems to be getting on nicely.

“While I was away Miss Gladys got moved - is like someone away from home, her not being here at meal time and at night

• she living in the home for 18 years is like one of the family. But am sure it is nice for her to make a home [601 - 17th St., house that her brother Burt bought] for her mother and brother.

“Let us hear from you. Mrs. [1100] said last letter, she hadn’t heard from you - wrote while you were away.

“All send love to each of you - let me know about the 5th morning - 10:30 to 11:30 E.W.T.”
