GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - we have the body here, [1788]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, the acute conditions that have existed in the system have been improved. These were produced, we find, by a combination of disturbances; first the inflammation in the tonsils and the adenoids, and the drainage to same as the body swallows or attempts to swallow. These upset the digestive system, causing an inflammation and high temperature. These have improved because of cleansing of the body.
-
In the present, we would use Caldwell’s Syrup of Pepsin as an antiseptic and an eliminant. Give about half to three-quarters of a teaspoonful two or three times a day, or about three hours apart, until there are good eliminations from the alimentary canal. Leave off two or three days (keeping the intestinal antiseptic and the massages, which we will indicate), and then take again - until there are good eliminations.
-
As an intestinal antiseptic we would give a few drops of Glyco-Thymoline; not more than six drops at a time, twice a day should be sufficient, in water. Keep this up until the odor of same may be detected in the stool. Leave off a few days and then take again.
-
If there is trouble with the face and throat, we would wrap about same a cotton cloth (two or three thicknesses) well saturated with the Glyco-Thymoline, and keep it on for an hour and a half to two hours. This will aid in reducing the inflammation.
-
And we would have osteopathic adjustments to set up drainage.
These should, if drainages are set up properly, - from the neck and head, - prevent, or make it unnecessary for operative measures; unless there is cold or congestion that would cause reinfection in same.
-
Do these, and we will have better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What can be done to stimulate appetite? (A) When we have corrected the conditions with the liver and the digestive system, there will naturally be the inclination for the body to eat.
In the diet we would give whole wheat grains as cereals, whether dry or cooked. We would give plenty of good vegetables that are well cooked in their own juices. Plenty of sea foods, and these - with fowl - will be the better meats for the body.
- We are through with this Reading.

R2. 7/7/43 EC’s Letter to [480]:
Dear [480]-
Do hope the suggestions for [1788] are helpful just now. We have been so busy here haven’t hardly known whether we are coming or going and the congress is just over. Mrs. [1100] left here the day had your letter. They live in …, Utah. … Hotel is their address. [470] didn’t make it to the meeting. Mrs. [1100] hasn’t been so well, but was feeling fine when she left here.
[480], you should see our two Grandsons - H. L.’s boy is now, or believe, today is just 9 months old and is all boy. Cute as he can be. Edgar Evans’ is a week old last night. H. L. is in camp. E. E. is overseas somewhere.
Hope you and [633] are fine and the Children are just great. Sure do wish to see them, and will before very long am sure.
Let us hear from you
With love to all from all
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 7/16/43 [480]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thank you so much for the reading. I’m sorry, though, that we didn’t get the other questions answered. [1788] is better but his nose is bothering him, he sneezes a great deal in the morning and talks as though he had a cold.
The stuttering started a few months back & has us quite worried - could we get a reading on it? We try to make him rest a great deal and keep him calm but he’s very sensitive & is almost too alert to things going on around him. We sent him to a nursery school for a while but stopped when he became ill - that seemed to help to speech but he was so terribly worn out at the end of the day. I’d certainly appreciate an opinion & what to do from the information. Any time will be quite all right.
Tell Gladys we don’t know this [3083] but seems to me I recall seeing the name.
Loved Tom’s Thomas Sugrue] letter to you at Congress time. He expresses what we all feel [See June 1943 A.R.E. Bulletin].
Congratulations on the new baby - the times though don’t seem to make for much joy what with families torn apart. What does the reading say about the war? Any time given for it’s conclusion?
Our love to you all. [480]
R4. 7/21/43 EC’s letter to [480]
Mrs. [480] …, Michigan
Dear Mrs. [480]:
Thank you very much for yours of the sixteenth. You know that we will be very glad to get in a question any time that we can for [1788], but you can hardly imagine just how busy we are and how much we have doubled up on our appointments. I seem to be standing it better than Gertrude and Miss Gladys. They are the ones who are howling the most. But I am setting a time to get a check on this Sunday afternoon, August 1. That is particularly what Miss Gladys is howling about - where she does not have a chance to go to Sunday school, and I don’t blame her, but you know it is mighty hard to turn these people down and this doesn’t belong to me, I know. So if you will get a set of questions together and let us have them before that time, it will be the best thing to do. Please understand that this is not one of those that you will be charged for. I am most anxious to see both of the children. I don’t know how we will ever work it out the way travelling conditions are, but I hope we will be able to see all of you before very long.
Thanks for your comments on Current Bulletin [7/43 Article by Thomas Sugrue]. Tom seems to be doing well. He says he thinks he will be able to go to work this Fall. That would be wonderful. The new baby is fine. Of course, he looks so little right now, compared to the other baby [Tommy & Evans Cayce] who is all boy - the hardest, roughest boy you ever saw and yet the sweetest disposition you ever saw. We are all fairly well - eat when we can get the food. Give our regards to [633] and the children and be sure to let us hear from you before the first. With love to everyone.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

Background
Background
B1. 7/1/43 Letter from mother, [480]: “[1788] has been running slight temperature on and off for a couple of months now and we thought it was a slight cold, it would disappear, but he’s had a leaky nose now for a couple of weeks - the doctors think it is a sinus condition, caused by infected tonsils. He ran a very high temperature Monday and was quite sick - he’s better today, but coughs and the nose is still leaking. Do hope something can be done without having to remove the tonsils and adenoids. His appetite is very poor. He’s been going to nursery school from 9 to 5 and loves it - he rests more there than at home, where he runs himself out playing with the boys.
“It’s so comforting to know & we’re so grateful for having you to turn to when we have troubles.”
- What has caused the slight temperature on and off for two months now?
- Is it a sinus condition caused by infected tonsils?
- Can the condition be corrected without removing the tonsils and adenoids?
- (If an operation is advised, how soon?)
- What can be done to stimulate appetite?
