GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes stuttering, and what can be done for it? (A) In the body-forces, as we have oft indicated through this channel, each portion of the organism of the body is controlled by coordination of the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nervous system. The connections for the auditory as well as the vocal forces of the body derive their impulse from the 3rd cervical, as well as the 3rd, 4th and 5th dorsal.
Hence it is necessary, very patiently but very systematically, to reduce - osteopathically - those tendencies of the body to oversupply energies to the vocal cords; so that - as these corrections are made, and as there are the precautions to assist the body in its attempt to make expressions through the speech - these conditions may be eliminated entirely from the system.
And these as we find, while requiring some time and some patience, will relieve stuttering; that is, the osteopathic corrections, with special reference to the connecting centers in the lymph patches, the emunctory activity and circulation, from those areas indicated in the spine, should assist the body in correcting those tendencies existent.
-
(Q) How can the parents help him to overcome it? (A) The greater aid will be in enabling the body to have the cooperation of an osteopath administering those applications that will allow the body himself to control the activity.
-
(Q) Is the nursery school, Miss Marshall’s, at 22333 Grand River, a well run and proper place for him? (A) This as we find is a good environment for the body.
-
(Q) Any suggestions about this? (A) Do not curb or make the body aware, by anxiety, of too much difference of opinion. But in same use the power of the psychological effect upon the body-forces that cause the weaknesses or tendencies, and these should be - and will be in the major part - eliminated.
-
(Q) Have the treatments been given often enough, and have they helped? (A) These have been given often enough. There should be more of the relaxing, generally, as well as the specific corrections in the areas indicated.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) Do keep the body (though young as yet, but apparent as to its abilities and activities) acquainted with that being done, and why, and the expectancy the body may have with the use of the treatments suggested. And when necessary for the body’s action itself, recall what has just been given.

R1. 8/15/43 Mother’s letter told about trying to help out Mr. [3144] who came to her with his reading: “[1788]‘s reading was very clear and helped us to understand the difficulty. The treatments are being given and we notice a marked improvement - he has very little difficulty. Thank you again.”
R2. 8/20/43 EC’s letter to [480] and [633]:
Thanks [480], mighty glad to hear from you had been wondering how [1788] was coming along. Glad he is better.
Thanks a lot for helping out. We sure are keeping very very busy. Have had to get two girls to help Miss Gladys out, besides having a special steno myself, tho I still write my personal letters as you can easily tell by the way they are done.
Thanks a lot [480] for telling others about the work - but we all think so much of you and yours, but why shouldn’t we.
Hope you had a lovely trip - tell [633] to catch a big one for me. Sally and baby have been in N.C. for last three weeks, sure have missed them. First time she has been home with the baby. They say he can about walk tho now, be home tomorrow. Sure will be glad to see him. Kat that is Eckens wife brought her baby to see us this afternoon. He is cute as he can be, growing so fast.
Thanks again for hearing from you. All here send love to each of you.
