This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the mother, Mrs. [480], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as, or developing to be called, [1788].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them, these are chosen with the desire to make the information helpful to the entity, as well as to those responsible for the training of same towards those influences and activities that may enable the entity to fulfil that purpose for which it entered this present experience.

4. Coming as it has and does, in filling the life experience of those about same, those responsible for same, with love, hope, patience, we find that these attributes may be builded in the experience of the entity in such measures that - as it reaches those periods of impressing others - these may not be lost.

5. As is indicated in the experience, as we find from the records, much may be expected of, and much may be accomplished by this entity; especially if the formative years are filled with that which will deal with horticultural subjects.

6. This would appear to be out of the ordinary, but ye have no ordinary entity or soul with which to deal! For, as the whole circumstance of its entering, of the experience of those activities about it, we find NATURE, SPIRIT, GOD - with all those influences and forces which go to make for hope ever springing in the human breast from nature - become a part of the entity.

7. And these are and will be WELL manifested, if such an impression, such a development is given the entity; especially in the small fruits and berries and those that make the heart of many a child, many a mother, many a home glad through their season of expectancy, in their bloom, in their development, in their fruit, and in the preserving of same.

8. The tree in bloom would be the seal of the entity. [12/12/39 Mother [480]‘s ltr.: “The first tree we planted (in our new home) was a cherry, so [1788] can have the benefit of that symbol right under his bedroom window!”]

9. Hence, to those who have the training, - give as much of nature, as much of the outdoor exercise and life to this entity in its formative years as is possible, as is practical.

10. As to virtues, - as to faults, - as to warnings, - as to things in which there must be special consideration given:

11. Keep the entity away from climbing buildings, or flying machines.

12. Beware of those conditions that would or do affect especially the lower hepatic circulation, the kidneys and the like. Beware, or be warned especially during that period of three and a half to five and a half years of age in reference to such influences.

13. One that will be found with a will.

14. One that will be tempered with song, music, those things that have to do with nature; and these are influences that may be brought into the experience for the greater understanding and for the giving of a reason for every correction.

15. Do not break the will by force.

16. Do not spoil the entity by fears, doubts or things that are given as warnings without the cause or that to expect. But in love, patience, hope, kindness, gentleness, we may find the entity responding to those forces that are as a part of the whole of the entity’s experience.

17. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth, and those influences that will bear upon the early experiences, - we find that these, as may be seen, should be changed in the seventh and in the fourteenth year. These are as cycles of impressions and changes; and activities in the developing of the body, the mind, the soul.

18. In corrections, in advice, in counsel, forget not these three phases of the entity’s being; body, mind, soul. Know that the soul is eternal; the mind is both physical AND spiritual; the body is only temporal, - yet the body in the material plane is indeed the temple of the living God, the influence or force through which eternal activity must be manifested while in material experience.

19. Before this, then, we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those experiences of the early activities when there were the settlings in these portions of the land.

20. The entity then was one in the name of Benerdine Wynder. In the experience the entity gained especially in those activities of inducing individuals and groups in those portions of the land to make for the preservation of the trees and vines and the like that supplied fruit, that supplied sustenance for the peoples.

21. And especially the cherry tree will ever be a source of interest to the entity, if this is watched or noted or pointed out to the entity through the formative years.

22. Hence the culture of such should form a part of the entity’s experience through this present sojourn; and all kindred subjects or the like, to KEEP the entity out of doors!

23. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Roman, when there were those developments of the games that required physical prowess, physical activity; as the discus thrower, as the games of that nature and of every nature that were a concern of the period.

24. There we find the entity was active as an instructor, as an influence in the propagation of such, during that period when those in position and power were interested in such activities.

25. Then the entity was in the name Regelus.

26. There we find the entity’s interests were in those things which will find activity in the present, as of sports of every nature. But DO NOT become the professional, as will be the inclination in those directions as developments take place!

27. Before that we find the entity was among the sons of the King of Israel, or sons of David.

28. There we find the entity was among the King’s household, of those close to the members of the same family; of the children of that one who was given power or appointed king, - hence a brother (a younger one) of Solomon; in the name then Belthel.

29. In the experience we find there were both good and hard experiences; but the entity was among those who were chosen for not only the decorations for the temple activities but for the various characters of wood as pertained to same.

30. And such will be a particular influence in the present experience of the entity, - as kinds of wood, and things made of wood. These are well, yet those activities that will pertain to horticultural subjects will be more in keeping with that as will bring material, mental and spiritual opportunities for the entity.

31. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there was the upbuilding and the reconstruction with the return of the Priest.

32. There we find the entity was closely associated with the Priest in those activities as related to the temple service, both in the Temple Beautiful and in the Temple of Sacrifice; AS a priest under Ra-Ta.

33. The name then was El-Ta-Ta. In the experience we find the entity rose with the Priest, in those periods especially when there was the segregating of groups and individuals for special service in other lands, as well as the selecting of individuals for special service in the immediate surroundings.

34. For the entity, as El-Ta, rose to power throughout the experience.

35. As to the abilities in the present, and that to which it may attain:

36. These as have been given are innate, as indicated, and will manifest.

37. Then, those that develop with the various periods through the evolution of the soul in materiality will depend upon the training by those who have same in charge.

38. Forget not the three phases of development or the fourfold life of experience.

39. Ready for questions.

40. (Q) How may his parents best assist him in his early development? (A) As indicated, in keeping before themselves - and him - those phases of the experiences of each soul; body, mind and soul. Give him spiritual counsel, SPIRITUAL advice and direction; as well as the mental and physical developments for the whole of the entity’s experience.

41. (Q) What have been his past associations with his present mother, [480]? (A) Compare same with the experiences of each, and it will be seen how they were drawn close together.

42. (Q) His present father, [633]? (A) As indicated.

43. (Q) His grandmother, [601]? (A) As indicated - close association especially in the king’s household.

44. (Q) What is his mission in this life? (A) As indicated, NATURE; and to make the land, the peoples, better for his having been in same.

R1. 2/1/39 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [480]:

Dear [480] -

Well - what do you think of the young man’s reading know I am not able to make much of a comment, but hope can discuss it with you some time. And know as you read it over and is there any point you wish to ask me about please don’t hesitate to write me.

Think you will have much there to mull over, but just hope that it will be as helpful to you in understanding your boy as such has been to us in understanding our own boys.

Have recently had both boys home for a few days - between exams for Edgar Evans and H. L. came down to be here while he was home - and was sick the whole time he was here - such a cold - but was glad he was where his Mother could look after him.

We, Gertrude and I, were discussing the boys last evening and she remarked “well, I think the readings has helped us understand their dispositions, both are sweet boys but so different in their ways of thinking of people and conditions.” So hope yours will help you understand your boy - sure would love to see him - know he is sweet as can be. Will have to bring him down this way this summer.

R4. 2/24/41 Mother [480]‘s ltr.: “[1788] is fine and talks a blue streak. He knows all the old songs, ‘K-K-Katie’ and some of the others. Carries a tune well, too. We are quite proud of him.”

R5. 2/4/42 Mother’s letter, under 1788-9 Reports, indicates his interest in mechanical things, that he manipulates his fingers like her mother [601] did; a very bright, good boy.

R6. 8/1/43 See 1788-13 Physical Reading giving advice about his kindergarten work, training, etc.

R7. 5/19/45 Mother’s letter: “[1788] is going to camp this summer. He’s a big boy and not the very best behaved boy in school! [2781] had her 3rd birthday on V.E. Day. Strange, isn’t it, that when [1788] celebrated his 3rd birthday it happened on the day war was declared - Dec. 8. I hope they never know any more of war.”

R8. 1/1/47 Mother’s letter: “[1788] is a fine boy, takes violin lessons and besides is a real rough and tumble boy. He spends his summers at camp in Mass.”

R9. 4/25/47 Mother’s report to GD: “[1788] is definitely showing the tendencies referred to in the reading; is very musical, loves outdoors and nature studies, etc.”

R10. 7/20/60 Mother’s letter in reply to 7/8/60 inquiry [See under 2791-1 Reports]: “[1788] is 21, a graduate of Michigan and presently employed with … Broadcasting in N.Y., assisting with the producing of the 7 P.M. to 12 Midnight on Saturday segment of the … Show. Sorry we’ve not done anything with the entity you noted in your letter [Benerdine Wynder, his name in his early America incarnation].”

R11. 8/17/60 GD’s reply: “It is certainly interesting about [1788]. He must know, or work with, Walter McGraw who spoke at our A.R.E. Congress this past June. Last May a year ago he did a weekend series on the monitor radio re “The Remarkable Edgar Cayce.” I understand that another one of our members and friend of long standing, [2494], is a vice president at … It is really a small world, isn’t it? It certainly must be interesting work and I know [1788] must have a special talent for it. This certainly doesn’t seem to be in line with what his reading indicated, does it? Are there any instances mentioned in his reading which did seem to fit? Some of these readings for young children have seemed to work out so exactly to the letter that it is hard to understand why they all don’t. Of course, there is always free will and, I suppose, a soul can change its mind and take a different course from that which seemed to be indicated at the time of the reading. It would be good, though, to talk with you about the details in his case.”

R12. 3/16/64 Mr. [1788]‘s ltr. to A.R.E.:

Gentlemen:

Some time ago I found in my possession, not only a reading done of me one month after my birth (Dec. 8, 1938, Cayce erred and dated it ‘39), but also a reading done in Hollywood, California for [1395] on July 3, 1937. The number is 1395-1.

Just incidental with my work is my interest in the information contained in that reading which I assume is confidential. I have not divulged it to anyone and will not until I am given to understand the Association’s wishes on the matter. Furthermore, I have done considerable research on the subject of the Lusitania, both location and condition, and attempts to reach the wreck and wondered if you might have any other readings that Cayce did with regard to the subject. Are they available?

My work (mentioned above) incidentally bears directly with the predictions made in Cayce’s life reading of me. For a year I was with a singing group called the …‘s, who sang folk music and am presently working [GD’s note: He is a famous guitar player and folk singer.] with a young lady by the name of […] as a duo in the same field. This reading was done toward the end of January in 1939. Place: Detroit, Michigan.

Also for your interest: My mother [480] and I were on the … show discussing Cayce about two weeks ago. A tape of this interview was sent to Hugh Lynn.

Please send me information about the Association for R. & E. as I am fascinated by what I already know and thirst for more knowledge. And include some information regarding Cayce’s meeting with [1395].
