This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of August, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [601], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: [In going back over years from birth date, EC mumbled “Changes” when reaching yr. 1916. GD’s note: Later Mrs. [601] told me she thought this referred to their change of environment from NY to Michigan.]

2. Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the present entity, [601].

3. In giving that which may be helpful to this entity in the present, so much presents itself from the appearances in the earth - as these have been often and more frequent than many; yet the entity, we find, has applied self in the greater portion of the activities and sojourns through the earth. While the astrological aspects from sojourns in those environs have some influence, these, as we find, are almost negative (negligible) in their influences in the activities of the entity in the present. For, to the entity, to think a thing is to begin doing it! While this is not to indicate that there is the thinking without consideration, or acting without consideration, yet so many of those things are INTUITIVE in the activities of the mental forces from many sojourns in the earth in the entity’s experience, that almost with the hearing or with the experiencing the entity forms its opinion; and seldom is the entity in error in those things as to judgements of individuals or of those things

that relate to the activities of individuals under varied environments or the circumstances that surround them. Hence the entity would be an excellent individual for a firm or organization to use as one to choose their employees, or one to choose teachers or ministers that would deal with the active forces in the experiences of the young. The entity’s judgement as to character of individuals is above the ordinary; and at times with the associations and activities about the entity this makes for some conditions that are not always pleasant - as might be expected from one endowed with the abilities in these directions, for at times does the entity - as it might be said - see too much! Or the entity knows more about individuals and their responses to things than would ordinarily be seen from one apparently of so little material experience in the directions of many of those things that would come to the experience of others.

4. We find from the same character of experience that the entity is one who may be said to be rather temperamental; that is, the ability to be angry easily, yet very capable in MAINTAINING its equilibrium and not to pass judgements too quickly upon individuals or circumstances. For, as is given, the NATURAL tend is to psycho-analyze temperaments, activities, associations with those whom the entity may contact from time to time. While, those mental experiences, or those that influence the INNATE forces in the body from sojourn in certain environs, or those environs about the earth, make for rather the mystic or psychic or occult forces; and the entity MAINTAINS in its own self much of that which it may experience by merely reading or studying reports respecting activities of individuals in their relationships to associations or groups. Another diversion or activity would be that the entity would be an excellent one to choose for diplomatic services or relationships of such natures; for the abilities to judge - through the experiences in the earth in many environs, many nations or many peoples, or many characters or many climes - make the ideal experience for an entity who may judge between the Parthenian and the Greek, or between the Armenian and the Canadian, or between the Eskimo and the Scandinavian. Yet all of these are as innate forces from the experiences of the entity in the earth, and at times these make for those experiences when - as has been given - the entity sees more in people, in circumstance, in conditions, than may be viewed by the ordinary individual - or as many another person, at least.

5. In this respect, well that men or women who are associates or friends heed much the judgements, then, that the entity may make, or when the entity would give counsel; for these are seldom in the wrong.

6. Then, in giving the experiences of the entity in the earth and those that make for their influences in the present, we may only give those that are effective in the now. For, while from the astrological or from the mystic or psychic force the NOW is to be considered as almost all inclusive, the NOW here means the periods of development, the periods of activity that lie in the IMMEDIATE future, or the immediate NOW, in the experience of the entity in the present.

7. Before this we find the entity was in that land known as the French, during those periods when there were many people making the settlements in what is now known as the land of the entity’s nativity - or in America.

8. The entity, then, was among those people who came to the southernmost portion of the land; not during those periods when there were the FIRST settlings, but after the period of the French Revolution when there were those changes being made in the activities in that land.

9. Then in the name Burborieu, the entity came to what is now known as Alabama; and during those sojourns there the entity gained in the activities, settling about what became the first Capitol of that particular State, making for much of the activities there that had to do with the periods of associations with the foreign lands - as to those things that had to do with the growing of particular character of crops for those particular soils or lands. With the activities that came about we find these brought much consternation to the companions, or to the entity’s own people; later returning to the land of its nativity.

10. Throughout the experience the entity lost and gained; for while those activities were much in the nature of submerging much of the personalities of those with whom the entity associated [GD’s note: Could this “submerging” of others close to her be the cause, or a cause, of uterine cancer in this life, of which she died 3 yrs. later?], the entity contributed much to those activities in that land to which the entity came - with the aid of those who were then in its environs.

11. In the present may be seen that, while the activities of the entity have had little to do with the peoples in that particular land, there has been and is ever a desire innate not yet satisfied; but in this experience, as we find, much in material gains, much in those things that will have to do with the latter portions of the entity’s life, may be expected to come from in and about those environs of the entity’s sojourn at that time.

12. Before that we find (among those that influence in the present) the entity was during those periods when there were the activities in what is now known as the Promised Land, during those periods when the Christ - or Jesus - walked in the earth.

13. The entity then was among those peoples that were aided by the ministry of this teacher, this master, during that sojourn; of those peoples to whom the entity received back alive the son - as they walked from Nain at those periods of His ministry there.

14. Then in the name Deul, much of turmoil and strife came into the entity’s experience; yet in the soul and mental forces of the entity much was gained during that sojourn. There was the embracing of those activities, yet following very closely in what - in its own activities - may be called the very orthodox in the presenting of self to the peoples for the service during that activity; yet being enjoined to those that were of a different faith brought much of turmoil in the mental and in the soul forces, though developments were gained by the entity in and during that sojourn in that land. For much of peoples’ minds, much of peoples’ activities, came under the vision and the experience of the entity during that particular sojourn; making for an experience wherein there has been oft in the experience of the entity - even during the present - those things pertaining to the activities seen and viewed by the entity during that period, that have brought into the experience much that has been the SAVING influence - it may be said - as to its BELIEF, as to its activity in relationship to those things pertaining to what is termed religious thought. Not, then, as an orthodox individual nor a fundamentalist, but rather as one that has seen a vision, an experience, and has NOT let it pass without those things that have added to the greatness of the abilities to which the entity may give itself to others during this sojourn.

15. Before that we find (wherein much is made manifest in the present sojourn, present activities) the entity was during the reign of that ruler, that king of the Hebrew people who had been called for a purpose in a promised land; and among the daughters of David was the entity numbered; and among the daughters - or THE daughter of Bathsheba that lived; hence a close relationship, and only mentioned once in the Scriptures - and only in a portion of so much that has been left out.

16. So, the entity was a sister of Solomon - that also rose to the beauty of the pomp and power. This brought into the experience of the entity all those glories of the two kingdoms; for the entity was among those that were favored, not only of the people but of those that came for counsel - as the people of many nations - to receive, in those associations and relations, words of counsel from the preacher or the teacher in Solomon, and those GREATER in the Psalms of David.

17. Hence many of these have been to the entity the songs wherein there has come within self much that has lifted up, especially in those instances when it is said, “I was glad when they said unto me, we will go into the house of our God.” In this Psalm the entity led often in the meetings of those that counseled for the aid of those that would purify themselves for the services in the various activities. However, as is known, the mothers and daughters were forbidden much of the activities then.

18. In the name then Sheluenmehei, the entity gained much in the experience, and aided the father during those days when Absalom the beautiful rebelled; during those days when darkness came to the peoples through the various changes wrought by the political forces and powers.

19. Innately from the experience does the entity view and judges well as to political influences, yet keeps aloof in part from interfering or changing much in same. WHAT might be given of the experience of the entity during that sojourn!

20. In the present, though, is seen the very movements or activities, and the associations and relations; the aid and help that the entity not imposes, but graciously offers in its services to others, which has endeared itself to many of those whom the entity has been only as an acquaintance, or more so to those whom the entity has shown itself a friend. For indeed in the carriage [deportment; bearing] and in the naturally innate forces does the entity show itself to be a daughter of the king among kings!

21. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were turmoils and strife; when those were the bandying days between the natives and the King and the Priest.

22. The entity was among those peoples that had enjoined themselves with the activities of the King that had set his son, the young king, in office and in power, and who had drawn the lines for the activities between the natives.

23. Seeing that which was arising, through its abilities in what is termed the psychic or innate forces in itself, the entity withdrew itself from the activities until there was a return or the reestablishing of the Priest that taught the relationships between the individuals and the individuals’ relationship with the creative influences that might be manifested in the social order of the day, or the religious forces of the day.

24. Then the entity joined with those in the temple worship, becoming what was then known as the keeper or the foremost in the activities of the Temple Beautiful, wherein the activities were given over for not only the music that made for the cleansing of the bodies in the purifying upon the altars of the service there, but also wherein the music for those in the worship brought those things that made for the purifying of bodies for service in those experiences of the entities of that period.

25. This was at a time when, as set by the Priest, the women and the men were on an equal par in their services in the political and in the religious service and rites of the peoples.

26. Then in the name Su-Enphti, the entity gained throughout its experience; and in the present sojourn there are the chants, the inclination to hum oft to self when alone, the inclination to see in its visions the pomp and splendor - yet oft are they shadowed with animal associations with people, or people with claws or feathers or wings, or the animal with the man head - and with the feet of the goat or the horse. All of these things enter into the visions at times, as an association from which the entity saw many people cleansed - where they separated themselves from the animal influences in a material world. Just so there may be those in the acquaintance and in the associations of the entity who may see those activities in the present, who may purify themselves by separating themselves from the animal activity in the flesh; yet know - through the flesh and its associations - the joys of those things that bring into the experience and souls of individuals that whereunto they have been called by the very associations of bodies in those relationships that are PURIFIED in their activities in the earth! THESE make for those things that show the period of advancement in the activities of men! These have been in the experience of the entity in the present.

27. As to that whereunto the entity may gain in the present, in the application in self:

28. In any of those fields that we have given, whether from the spiritual, the mental or the material side, the entity may apply itself in such ways and manners as to bring into the experience of others those things that make for mental and soul development in this sojourn.

29. As we have indicated in the experience of many, that which the entity creates in a home - and in which it may give for the ministering to others, for those things that purify in these same relationships - may bring and give to others much that will purify through the leavening of those things in the experience of human beings, where they know more of the glory even of the king; yea, even unto the glory of Him whom the entity felt the blessings upon when the son was delivered again.

30. Call ye on the Lord while He may be found, for He is not far from thee; for much may it be said again, “I will do unto thee for my servant David’s sake.”

“P.S. Mrs. [601], a mental and spiritual reading usually covers the soul development of an entity, reason for entrance into this plane, etc., and any questions concerning your mental and spiritual development would be in order - any that might be suggested even from your Life Reading; that is, any portions of it not clear may be asked about, so as to clarify it for you.” Love, GD

R5. 9/11/34 “I am enclosing a separate page with questions desired answered in the Mental & Spiritual Reading. If possible can the information be given as to where I can find a design of King David’s seal? I would like to possess one of these to wear as suggested in my Physical Reading [601-1]. Have searched in the Public Library here with no results.” [“Please give in detail experience of entity in the name then of Sheluenmehei, and relations to the present. How can I help those nearest and dearest to higher development?

“At what period and what plane has [480] contacted with me before this appearance on earth?”]

R6. 9/14/34 GD’s note: This afternoon we attempted the Mental & Spiritual Reading for Mrs. [601], at the time appointed. EC attempted to be rejuvenating himself - did not repeat the suggestion. GC gave the suggestion three times with no response. Then she said: “If it is not well to give this information at this time, you will tell me.” EC then gave a weak, long groan, and said faintly, “We are through.” GC waited a few minutes, then gave the final suggestion for waking him. EC’s face got very red during the period. He then woke with a start, and was disappointed when we told him he did not give the rdg. GC said it was probably well he didn’t give the rdg., since it was so late she didn’t see how she could prepare supper in time for us to go to Norfolk to the teachers’ meeting [Study Group Manual Teachers’ Seminar?].

R7. 9/14/34 GD’s note to Miss [480]:

“P.S. [480], we didn’t get Mrs. [601]‘s reading this afternoon. Mr. Cayce went to sleep but we didn’t get a reading. He seemed to be regenerating himself during the period, and didn’t take the suggestion that Mrs. Cayce gave him. This has happened before, so I think that some condition with him or the connection wasn’t exactly right to get the very best. We’ll try it again next Thursday morning, unless an opening turns up sooner. I’m sorry - we were disappointed, as we were all looking forward to that reading. But it won’t be long.” Love, GD

R10. 8/5/35 “480-20 is the most beautiful piece of wisdom that can be offered to one entering a life partnership. Its contents are fully appreciated and sincerely hope they ([480] and [633]) will be able to live their lives as suggested. [480]‘s decision to marry came as a surprise to Mr. [619] and myself and we are trying to adjust ourselves to this new situation. [480]‘s happiness and good health is all we are interested in at this time and in order to give her the material comforts, Mr. [619] is working very hard (and thankful to be able to) at this time trying to develop a new line of merchandise for a furniture factory. After [480]‘s marriage I intend having a long conversation with you by mail regarding certain changes which must take place…”

R11. 8/10/35 EC’s ltr.:

“With [480]‘s decision to marry, I’m sure it makes many new situations arise in your own experience. Sometimes I suppose parents do feel that things are all wrong, when they give so much time and - in fact - their whole lives to their children, and then see them get married and leave to establish their own home. Yet, it is our part, or our contribution to the great Creative Force that carries on, giving man the opportunity to express more and more the glory of the Lord in the earth.”

“A very lovely lady [Mrs. [1152]] came down and spent a week at the Beach right after Xmas (from N.Y.). By the way, she is the lady whom Mrs. [1158] mentioned that she was advising to come and get a reading. Well, she had her Life Reading and it said she was a daughter of the Inn Keeper and the second person to hold the Babe Jesus in her arms. She sat in the office daily for a week reading Life Readings and making notes on that period; she has always been TREMENDOUSLY interested in Christmas - and you can understand why from her reading. I let her read your Life Reading (I didn’t think you’d mind, because she really appreciated it), and she was THRILLED at the daughter of David period and Widow of Nain; said she certainly would love to know you this time. She thinks maybe the [1158]‘s will come to Va. Beach at Easter and she will come with them.”

Mr. [619] was telling about how he was teaching [1788], training him, etc. Then Mrs. [601] said: ‘No, [619], you’ve got it all wrong. This child has descended from the priesthood - you’re not to influence him away from it.’”
