This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of January, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1793], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you [1793] born March 30, 1877 in Paterson, N.J., who now seeks an expansion upon the information given in his Life Reading of May 24, 1939, in regard to practical application in the present for his mental, material and spiritual development and welfare. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions - in problems, in the material and the mental welfare of the body [1793]; as well as information which has been indicated through these channels.

3. As we find, when all conditions are considered, there should be the changes now in the activities and the environs of the body.

4. As to the place, or patterns to be followed, - this as we find should be rather as the choice of the individual. For, in varied portions of the country there are the special or definite changes as to products of the soil - as we find should become a part of the entity’s experience.

5. And the entity should choose as to whether these are to be of the specialty class - as might be in fruits, vegetables, meats, or the combinations of these - that might be a part of the experience.

6. Also the entity should choose as to whether this is to be in the extreme climates or where there are the more uniform.

7. But as we see, Maryland, Virginia or the Carolinas would be the more preferable locations.

8. These then could be, would be, looked after by the entity; and bring - while a great CHANGE in the mental and environmental conditions of the body - a better outlook for material, mental and spiritual developments.

9. As we find, the combination should be considered the more seriously; though, as indicated, it should be a choice of the entity.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) To whom should I look for assistance in this respect, in getting into this work? (A) Those of the governmental agencies that assist those who choose to make such as a part of their material experiences; or through the agricultural interests, or divisions. Not upon such large scales as to cause a great deal of indebtedness, but forty to fifty acres, - this handled in the right way and manner would, by proper supervision, bring returns in every manner most satisfactory.

12. (Q) If this occupation fails, what other occupation is indicated? (A) It will not fail, if there is the approach to same in the way and manner indicated. For, it is not only self-sustaining but connections, associations may be made with the various groups in city for the supplying of the various needs; as the fruits, the vegetables, the fowl or meats of various kinds. All of these would become NATURAL sources and natural outlets; and make a most satisfactory activity for the entity.

13. (Q) Is now the time? (A) Now is the time to prepare for the spring and the summer activity.

14. (Q) Would it be well to continue longer at my present occupation? (A) We would make these changes as soon as practical; within the next thirty to sixty days, at least.

15. (Q) How can the [631] situation be best taken care of, since she is helpless? (A) Just in the same way and manner as it is, and these environs would be well for this entity also.

16. (Q) Any further advice? (A) Do these, as we find. Consider each activity well. Then choose.

17. We are through for the present.

R1. 1/8/41 [1793]‘s letter to EC:

Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Dear Mr. Cayce;

I wish to thank you for being so very prompt. The reading was entirely satisfactory to me in so far as it is possible to follow the suggestions given. That is to say it fits in precisely with my inclinations. It is a case more or less of the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak - or something of the sort. It is precisely what I want to do but I cannot do it.

I figure from enquiries etc that it would take somewhere between five and ten thousand to get started in such a change as is outlined and so far as my means are concerned it might just as well be fifty to one hundred thousand for I simply have not got it and know of no way of obtaining it. I am very close to the bitter end now and it was on this account that I enquired as to the “[631] situation”. If the end comes there will be no way of taking care of another. I shall not know how to take care of myself.

Anyway I shall know what to do if I ever can do it and happily it fits in with my inclinations.

Thanks again for your promptness.

I shall enclose cheque for $10.

P.S. I never could figure out why your son’s radio hour did not get over. I see that Carrington [Hereward Carrington] and others are now doing precisely the same thing and calling it “Who Knows?”. Your son’s program was no less interesting than the present one.

R2. 1/9/41 EC’s letter to [1793]:

Dear Mr. [1793]:

Do hope you were able to gather something from the last attempt to try and help. May seem a bit vague at first - yet believe with a bit of study will find much of a very definite nature. Is interesting to me that the information has been telling many for many months now - “own a piece of land

• grow something to eat - be able to live from the land.” Sounds ominous to me in many ways - but certainly do not wish to be a pessimist or a spreader of dire happenings.

Know will be glad to hear from you - and to know your decisions and can I help any where any way - please know am happy to at least try and do so.

With all good wishes - asking to be remembered to Mrs. [631].

R3. 1/13/41 EC’s letter to [1793]:

Dear Mr. [1793]:

Thanks for yours of the 8th - also for enclosure. Glad you were pleased with the information - don’t think you will have much trouble arranging for the plan if you really decide you wish to do that. Yes, you may feel tired and weary from the struggle, but getting close to nature offers you a release, a decision to make to be sure, but if you WILL to do it then you open the gate to the help that can come from those sources that only those who seek HIS face can know.

And when you decide that is what you wish to do then all will open for you, ways and means, and help to carry on, that is real strength.

Give it a try won’t you??

Yes - have heard the programme “Who Knows” not bad. Of course have thought wasn’t as good as “Mysteries of the Mind” but felt that was just my wishful thinking, but H. L. wished to give more time to the work here. Maybe wasn’t the best but seemed the best at the time considering circumstances.
