This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended and sponsored by Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief for this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, there is rather a somewhat complicated disturbance in the present; arising primarily from some injuries and misplacements through the organs of the pelvis.

4. And these produced such a pressure, or such a disturbance, that there was for some time a continual drain upon the system; until such pressures cause an aggravation to the nerve system, - until the strength and vitality, and the resistance became depleted; and then such nervous reactions as to cause the bad digestion, and then fermentation through stomach, and conditions which arise from this toxic force through the system.

5. In the present we find there is the lack of the desire on the part of self to make the efforts for recuperative forces.

6. Hence we find a form of anemia, - a little disturbance through temperature in the blood supply occasionally; the lack of appetite; a tipped stomach, and the organs of the pelvis involved in this disturbed condition.

7. As we find, in making corrections where material aids may be gained:

8. First we would begin with the adjustments, osteopathically made, through the lumbar and sacral area; as well as the coordinating of these with the 9th dorsal and the upper dorsal and through the cervical area - but specific adjustments in the last dorsal and through the lumbar and sacral area.

9. At least once or twice a week use a douche; not too hot, but a little above body-temperature. To the quart of water add a teaspoonful of Atomidine, as a cleanser as well as to prevent the infectious forces as there are corrections made, and as the proper relationships of the organs and the rest of the system are established by the corrections.

10. Each day take the vibratory forces from the low Wet Cell Appliance, carrying in same only Spirits of Camphor. The small copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar, while the larger nickel plate - through which the Solution passes - would be attached to the lacteal duct and umbilicus plexus; for thirty minutes each day. And this should be kept for at least three to four charges, - that is, periods of treatments of thirty days each before the charging; keeping the plates very clean.

11. In these manners we will find bettered conditions coming for the body.

12. Use in the beginning not so much heavy foods, but rather the easily assimilated diet; soft or liquid or semi-liquid foods, but plenty of foods that carry iron. Plenty of figs, plenty of raisins, plenty of apricots, plenty of carrots; plenty of lettuce, red cabbage and the like. These may be and should be taken raw at times as a part of the diet. The meats should consist only of fish, fowl or lamb, but these well-prepared; and all the foods should be well-cooked; in their own juices, and not fried.

13. Do these for the better conditions of this body.

15. (Q) Which doctor would be best to make these corrections? (A) Anyone in sympathy with such applications, but a good osteopath.

16. (Q) What was the nature of the injuries which caused this condition? (A) Improper attention at the periods when there were the evacuation, or delivery.

Mr. Edgar Cayce: In re: Mrs. [1794]

Enclosed is a case history which may be helpful altho due to the length is not very complete. If there are any points not clear nor mentioned I will be glad to cooperate in furnishing them.

After some difficulty we managed to obtain a bottle of Atomidine which you recommended for vaginal douching. The druggist informs me that the product has been discontinued

• another had a bottle on hand.

The reading you gave was accurate as far as it went. I was disappointed that there was no mention of the patients arthritis which is her chief concern and fear. The entire reading while applicable was also quite applicable to any number of other similar cases I have. Had there been a mention of which leg was troublesome or the pain in the side - it would have been more convincing.

The reading was correct so far as the lesions mentioned, except for the cervical which at the time were corrected but previously had been troublesome. In the diet you mentioned the use of apricots and raw carrots, lettuce, red cabbage, etc. However such cause the patient much distress. The apricots she eats by neutralizing the acid by a follow-up glass of milk - the vegetables so far have been mostly cooked.

You mentioned injuries and misplacements through the organs of the pelvis. While there is a history of a Cesarean birth, yet no gynecologist has located any pelvic trouble except an occasional slight leukorrhea. Her menopause seems to date complete.

Case History of Mrs. [1794]

Complaint: (Patient came under my care December 1937) “Pain, stiffness and swelling of joints, worse in right knee, right wrist and both elbows. Edema of ankles, right leg to knee (very little edema now except right knee). Lameness or difficulty in moving right leg. Poor digestion and elimination. Appetite capricious with susceptibility to nausea - discomfort from eating more than small amounts. Sometimes pain left side, kidney area.”

Description of Patient: Mrs. [1794] is 47, undernourished, pale, woman about 5 foot 3, weighs about 120 lbs. Lacks will to help self, easily discouraged, too inactive. Patient complacent, somewhat stoical yet tense and nervous, tho outwardly poised. Born in Sweden. (Husband born - Italy)

Family History: Mother, died, 32 complication childbirth Father, 72 subject to rheumatic pains. Brother subject to muscular rheumatism

2 children Boy 18 frail but well - difficult dry labor Girl 12 Cesarian delivery - healthy

Past History: Difficulty started with stiffness in neck 1934 Patient had fall on stairs previous to illness, 37 doctors in all attended patient: including Dr. Vier prominent local surgeon 1934. 1935 Dr. Buckmaster - treated by electro-therapy. May 1935 Patient at N.Y. Medical Center Cornell Hospital. Tonsils removed by Dr. Hinsdale. Cystoscoped at Rosevelt Hospital and again in 1936 by Dr. Buttrick, Scarsdale. 1937 Rockefeller Institute only suggestions liver injections for anemia.

None ever uncovered any infection that might be responsible for arthritis.

Findings:

Blood pressure 134/98, pulse normal, temperature usually normal occasionally slight elevation (not frequently now). Heavy albuminuria, marked anemia but no evidence of infection. Slight viceroptosis with poor abdominal tone.

Lesions sacro-iliacs, 3, 4, 5 lumbar, 9, 10, 12 dorsal 1, 2, 5 and 7 cervical, left 1st rib.

Dear Dr. Champion;-

Thank you for yours of the 19th - and the report, appreciate very much Dr. your help in supplying this data - so these who are making a study of the phenomena may have the facts before them. It is in this way only can it be determined as to whether psychic information can be helpful or not. Am happy to say we are getting better cooperation all along in this direction, and am very appreciative of it all.

To be sure would never ask any one to apply something they felt harmful to any one. We do have occasions where some do not see the good such a thing might be. Have had such a case recently with Still-Hildreth, but the application of that suggested has apparently brought results, that had not been obtained before.

If you are interested and would care to have same will be glad to send you reports we have had on various character of cases, the reports and like (no cost) that you may judge just what is happening in the use of such information.

Thank you for every thing, and will be glad to refer others to you in your part of the country.

I have used the Wet Cell appliance each day for two weeks and will continue to do so. I feel that I have definitely improved since starting these treatments. My strength has improved and I feel so happy that after all I have something that has and will help me.

In re: Mrs. [1794]

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

There are a few questions troubling the patient, Mrs. [1794] relative to her condition that a rereading might throw additional enlightenment, not already found in the first reading of a couple of months ago.

What causes the pain and swelling of the right knee, and the pain over the right acetabulum (hip)? What will relieve the pain and stop the limping?

What causes the spells of acidity of the patient’s stomach?

What causes the congestion in breathing and what will relieve it?

What causes the heavy albumin in the urine and the strong alkaline reaction of the urine (especially more alkaline during the night) and what will help correct them?

Should the liver extract and colloidal iron injections be continued? [In longhand:] Lederle’s liver extract 2 cc’s once a week, 2 cc’s of Colloidal iron (Crookes) with copper and manganese.

“Case progress report”

in re: Mrs. [1794] …, New York

A few days after the patient received the battery set with the spirit of camphor as suggested in the first reading, the pain on the left side (in the region of the spleen) disappeared. This pain had existed for many years and had never been definitely explained or diagnosed. The pain has not returned.

The patient’s stomach condition improved at first but had a recurrence of hyperacidity two weeks ago that lasted for one week. The right knee remains swollen and it and the right hip (femur articulation) give the patient much pain in walking. In this condition there has been no improvement (except for the week the stomach was upset from hyperacidity), but since the lameness and pain have returned.

The lameness and weakness of the patient make her easily despondent and relatively confined to her home (and back yard on good days).

Mrs. [1794] claims to be following the entire instructions of the reading and I am (under handicap) doing the same.

R6. 5/22/39 EC’s letter to Dr. Champion:

Dear Dr. Champion;-

Thank you for yours of the 18th - certainly hope we may be able to offer some suggestion that will be helpful for Mrs. [1794]. Would you speak to them, telling them the time as set for the reading, and the first open period is the afternoon of the 7th of June. Ask Mr. [1794] if there are any questions that she would like to have asked at the time, and have her make note of same and send direct. These would all appear of course in the reading. Sorry can’t get this in earlier but am quite busy and have hard time keeping any ways near up with the appointments. Glad to have you hear my poor attempt to present the work in a talk. Hope some time to have the opportunity to talk with you at length. Wish you might be here for our Congress meetings. Begins on the 15th. Would be especially nice if you could be here for the meeting Friday evening the 16th. Couldn’t you come, would be glad to have you.

Hope the time set is satisfactory - June 7th 3.30 to 4.30 E.S.T.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Just a short note to heartily thank you for your kind letter of the 22nd. Mrs. [1794] will be ready to cooperate in her reading June 7th 3:30 to 4:30 E.S.T. Her list of questions she is mailing directly to you. Temporarily she is discouraged due to a set-back by a bronchial cold complicated with a touch of asthma (for the last 10 days.) Am hoping that we can be of help to her altho the way back is slow. She tells me she has had 37 doctors before I was called and had ailed for 4 or 5 years.

It is a real temptation to attend your Congress meetings and visit your lovely beach but to date it looks impossible. Thank you sincerely

R8. 5/31/39 [1794]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Please tell me what to do, I have suffered for five years. I can only walk a few steps with the help of a cane. My right knee is very large and swollen, and is very painful to move. My right hip is painful too when I try to walk. I have a cold for at least three months now. I have a very peculiar noise in my chest and it is hard for me to breathe. I also suffer from constipation and must take a laxative regularly. Sometimes I have piles. I take liver extract injections once a week from my doctor and wonder if I should continue having them. I shall be very thankful for your advice.
