GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, there are periods when there is a reverting to old disturbances, - and the effect of poisons that have been of long accumulation, owing to the character or nature of disturbances as we have indicated. Yet the body shows a great deal of improvement from that as we have had heretofore.
-
The osteopathic manipulations in most of the periods have been VERY well done. We find that these would be more efficacious or more helpful if greater drainages were set up by the treatments, given in the osteopathic manner, FROM the sacral, coccyx and the lower area; to aid in stimulating better activity to the kidneys as well as the lower portion of the alimentary canal activity, - as well as through the circulatory forces from the 9th dorsal upward, that aids in better assimilating and distribution of energies through the system.
-
As we find, the applications that are to be received through the Wet Cell Appliance should be of a more POSITIVE nature. They have in part been of a great deal of help, but there has been rather the laxness of late in taking proper precautions as to making the connections properly for same, and as to keeping the anodes or plates perfectly clean or polished before and after using.
-
Also we find that it would be well to use, about once every three weeks, not oftener, the Hot Epsom Salts Bath. The body would be put in almost a saturated solution of Epsom Salts, you see, and allowed to stay in same for a period of at least twenty-five to thirty to thirty-five minutes. Put about twenty pounds of Epsom Salts in forty to fifty gallons of water, - this as warm as the body can stand to stay in same, and hot water gradually added.
-
It would be well if, during the period the body is submerged in this solution (of course, not to be over the face but up to the neck), the body would be given a gentle massage along the areas from which there are the impulses to the limbs for those disturbances which have arisen at times.
-
Immediately after being removed from the Epsom Bath, the body should be wrapped in a warm or hot blanket, and gradually dried, - before it is entirely wiped off, you see. Then the body would be thoroughly massaged with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil, - this especially around the limbs, the sciatic nerves, under the knees, across the hips, and especially along the cerebrospinal system from the 9th dorsal downward.
-
Then, as the body is sponged off again in hot or lukewarm water, have a thorough massage with salt and rum, - then a rubdown with rub alcohol.
-
Of course, the body should rest thoroughly after such a bath, - and a little stimulation would be given the body, as from the rum or spirits frumenti with the yolk of an egg beat in milk; or cook the yolk of the egg by dropping the whiskey over same, and then stir in milk. This will stimulate the circulation, aiding the digestive forces.
-
The rest of the applications should be kept much in the manner as has been outlined.
-
Do these, and as we find, by the time there have been at least five or six such Epsom Baths given (not oftener than once every three weeks, as indicated), all of these pains will disappear, - that have been as reflexes as well as pressures from poisons in the system.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes spells of acidity of stomach? (A) The poor eliminations, - hence the necessary absorption sufficient through the heat as well as the activity of the Salts on the body for eliminating the acids.
-
(Q) What should be done for constipation? (A) Any good oil, especially Usoline, should be taken; with precautions as to diet; and we should eliminate these disturbances.
Another thing that will aid will be the proper stimulation to the lumbar, sacral and coccyx axis, through the osteopathic manipulations, - that will aid in this direction materially.
-
(Q) What causes congestion in breathing and what will relieve it? (A) All of these conditions are taken into consideration in that given. Do those things as we have indicated.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R3. 8/9/39 [1794]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am enclosing your check for the readings.
I have a very bad case of asthma. Every four hours I have an attack, it has lasted for two weeks. Doctor Champion gives me Adrenaline hypodermic needles to relieve it. But it helps very little. The Doctor has said if I don’t improve I will need to have an oxygen tank. I have a very little appetite and really haven’t hardly eaten anything for two weeks.
Please advise me and help me.
R4. 8/15/39 EC’s letter to [1794]:

R5. 8/19/39 Dr. Champion’s letter to EC:
Dr. John Calvin Champion 175 Main Street, Suite 509 White Plains, N.Y.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
There are several questions that I wish and hope you can answer at the next reading this Wednesday for Mrs. [1794], …, N.Y.
What is causing her persistent bronchial asthma and what will clear it up?
What can be done to relieve the excruciating pain in her right knee and hip-joint which is so painful when weight is placed upon them? Will more walking help the leg? (Nearly no walking - few steps lately)
What should patient eat or do to regain her lost appetite and lost weight.
Is patient too weak to continue with the Epsom baths and massage outlined by you?
About six weeks or more ago, Mrs. [1794] developed another persisting attack of bronchial asthma like she had had a few months earlier this year. This last time the asthma has been so severe that injections of adrenaline were the only slight relief that she could get. Even with that she went down hill rapidly so that she weighs about 105 lbs now as compared to 124 before. She has much trouble in raising the heavy, thick, tenacious sputum. Food goes against her, and meat caused her heart-burn and acid stomach. Her right knee is more than sixteen inches around and it and her right hip very painful. Hence with her extreme weakness and the severe pain upon trying to walk - she has remained nearly entirely bed-ridden. Today she seems improved slightly.
Trust that you are enjoying good health yourself.
Appreciatively yours, [signed] J. C. Champion, D.O.
R6. 8/20/39 [1794]‘s note to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Wednesday afternoon will be alright.
Yours truly, Mrs. [1794]
