This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the father - […] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1807].

3. Now as we find, conditions which exist with this body are not fully understood by those administering in the present; or the present ministrations would not indicate same at least.

4. There exists a very definite disturbance, as we find; and unless there are some measures for corrections it may bring conditions that will so affect the mental, THROUGH the pressures being created, as to cause a great deal of disturbance, and a condition hard to cope with if only the nervousness AND the attitudes are kept THROUGH this nervousness as being produced, rather than aided by those applications.

5. These then are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1807] we are speaking of:

6. In the blood supply there is not a great deal of disturbance, though quite a variation in the blood pressure as well as the character of the blood supply, owing to the character of administrations for these disturbances.

7. In the nervous system do we find the cause of the disturbance; through a pressure existent in the lumbar and sacral area. This was produced by conditions that have caused an unbalancing of the pelvic bone, or the pelvic saddle rather; and that needs such corrections as to remove the tension on the sympathetic system, as well as the effect produced in the cerebrospinal system from the coccyx, the sacral, the ileum plexus and the lumbar axis; and then, of course, those areas from the 9th dorsal to the 1st cervical coordinated with same. This would be done osteopathically, and preferably in the Dobbins’ manner.

8. This as we find will remove those tensions after a few applications.

9. It would be well that these treatments be kept for a period of six to eight weeks, though towards the end the applications or adjustments may be farther apart. In the first we would give these two or three times a week; for of necessity these will not be very deep treatments in the beginning.

10. We will find that the inclinations for the terrific headaches, and with some applications that are being undertaken, may become of a migraine nature. For the pressure and the effect of these upon the nerve forces as radiate through the vagus centers and areas are becoming involved, and will be found to be very tender; especially in the upper dorsal areas.

11. Hence these will necessitate that there be GENTLENESS in applying the first three or four treatments, and that there be - through some means - a sedative of a very mild nature, to aid in relieving the tensions through the system, especially for rest.

12. But that these are affecting the connections between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic, through the pelvis as WELL as through the vegetative areas, is indicated by the attitudes that the sympathetic reactions produce in the body.

13. However, as we find, if these are applied in the manners as have been here indicated, through the general applications for such pressures, we will find aid and help that should soon bring near to normalcy through this body.

14. Also that there have been some lesions formed, or adherences through pelvic organs, will be found; unless there is a ready response TO the applications which we have indicated are not proper for this condition.

15. The use of douches, not above body-temperature and not below, with a teaspoonful of Atomidine to the quart of water, will be most helpful in relieving the tensions through pelvic organs AS corrections are made in the lumbar, sacral and coccyx area, AND coordinated with the rest of the system.

16. Do that, and we will bring near to normal forces for this body, [1807].

18. (Q) What sedative would you recommend? (A) This had best be left with those making the applications, see?

19. (Q) Should she continue all present treatments? (A) As we find, we would go to Dobbins immediately and follow those instructions here given.

20. (Q) Is present living routine suitable to effect a cure, if following the treatments here suggested? (A) It will be necessary that there will at some time come a change. This may be followed BETTER by the body being closer to Dobbins, for the first few weeks - if this is practical.

21. (Q) About how long should treatments require to effect a cure? (A) As indicated.

22. (Q) Will treatments suggested eliminate the constant headaches? (A) As indicated.

Dear Mr. Cayce-

I attach herewith four questions submitted by Dr. Dobbins and my daughter Mrs. [1807] - to be answered in the reading I wrote for yesterday. Please send the answers to these questions with the reading to the address I gave you yesterday, namely … St., East Orange, New Jersey. I hope you will be able to give my daughter a reading soon.

III. From Mrs. [1807]: How frequently should the douches of Atomidine solution (which were suggested by you in the first reading) be taken and for what purpose.

IV. What treatment can you suggest for an irritation of the cervix.

Is smoking detrimental to condition of heart and system at present time?”

I have word from my daughter Mrs. [1807] that you are to give her another reading and I hasten to add to the list of questions I previously sent you.

1. What is the cause of the chest pains and what the treatment for relieving and curing them.

2. What effect are treatments having on the heart, if any.

3. What is the condition of the heart at the present time and can we look forward to any PERMANENT cure for that trouble. I am praying that through your help our God will give my daughter back health that will enable her to lead a useful life.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce

At the suggestion of Mr. Cayce [crossed out, replaced with [257]] I am writing to ask for a reading for my daughter Mrs. [1807]. I am enclosing herewith a membership application and Mr. [257] who knows the circumstances says it will be alright if I send you $10.00 now and 10.00 next month for the membership. I will get a money order tomorrow for 10.00 and send it to you.

Mr. [257] advised me to ask you what date you can give the reading and I will then advise you where my daughter will be at the time you arrange for the reading.

The questions we would like answered would be

What is present conditions? What caused these conditions? What should be done to clear up the condition? Should she continue under her physicians suggestions? If not where should she go for the treatments you will suggest? How LONG should treatments require to effect normal health? Is present living routine suitable to effect a cure of present ill healing in following the suggestions you may make for proper treatment.

You may remember me as the man Mr. [257] spoke of in his address at the McAlpin Hotel as a fellow traveller on a train coming from Toledo, Ohio to NY when he discussed your work until the small hours of the morning with a Catholic Priest as well as myself.

Would appreciate a reading as soon as possible.

Dear Mr. Cayce-

I find yours of 19th on my return and enclose herewith the signed application.

My daughter Mrs. [1807] will be at her home # … St., East Orange, N.J. at the time you specify in your letter, namely 3.30 to 4.30 P.M. Eastern S.T.

The only question I can add to the questions outlined in my letter to you of 17th is -

Will treatments suggested by you eliminate the constant headaches - tense nervousness and acute insomnia that now accompany the conditions that exists?

Please wire me collect upon receipt of this letter if appointment made for Jan 31st 3.30 to 4.30 is still ok and oblige.
