Time of Reading 3:45 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.J.

GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, while there are improvements, these have not as yet reached the stage where there is not a great deal of disturbance. But to the present there have been rather those periods of the preparation, that there may be the more definite and specific corrections made that will relieve the great tension which has existed in the nervous system.
-
In making the applications for the corrective measures osteopathically, - thus far these have been very well, and in keeping with the suggestions indicated.
-
Now, there should be more of the definite corrections, as well as keeping soft tissue pliant and in order; but definite corrections where lesions are indicated in the cerebrospinal system, especially through the vagus centers, - that is, the upper dorsal and cervical, - that should bring a greater relief from the strains to the nervous system which are contributory to the severe headaches that occur at times. Also there should be the corrections in the lumbar, sacral and coccyx area, that will relieve the tensions through these areas.
-
We would continue the use, then, of all the other applications as we have indicated.
-
And we would add, personally (that is, giving it to self), just before retiring of evening, the vibrations from the Violet Ray (hand machine, bulb applicator); to the pit of the stomach first, you see, - then to the 9th dorsal, then around the head, the neck, and across the upper portion of the body; that is, across the shoulder blades and neck. This will tend to relax the body, and should be taken just before retiring - for about three to four minutes.
-
Also the douches should be taken occasionally for the relieving of the tension through the coccyx area and through the organs of the pelvis. These are to relieve tension through the areas, see?
-
If these are done, as we find, we will make for greater corrections now with the heart disturbance, the general nervous reactions, - and make for better conditions with the body.
-
Refrain from sedatives in so much as is practical. When necessary, of course, these may be taken, but do not do so unless absolutely necessary.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What treatment can you suggest for an irritation of the cervix? (A) Those that have been indicated will make for better conditions throughout the whole of the body, including the cervix.
-
(Q) When may I expect relief from headaches, if treatments now being given are proper? (A) As indicated, we will now change many of the treatments as well as the manipulations in their effect, through the application of the electrical treatments for the nerve forces; and within the next two or three weeks we should find these conditions not only lightening but gradually disappearing entirely.
-
(Q) Is smoking detrimental to condition of heart and system at present time? (A) In excess is irritating, but as it has been used, - or if it is used in moderation, as a sedative, - not harmful.
-
(Q) What effect are treatments having on heart, if any? (A) As indicated, if those corrections are made throughout all the vagus centers, - the upper dorsal and cervical areas, as well as in the lower portion the tension relieved from those subluxations and lesions there, - we should find easier conditions for the heart’s activity.
-
(Q) What is the condition of the heart at the present time, and can we look forward to any PERMANENT cure for that trouble? (A) As indicated, we are changing the effects to the system now, and there should be improvements. The applications heretofore, as indicated, have been as a preparation, you see, so that when corrections were made they would not be too great a shock to the soft tissue along the cerebrospinal system or in the sympathetic system.
-
(Q) What is cause of chest pains, and what treatment for curing same? (A) As indicated, use the Violet Ray across those areas. These are reflexes from nervous tensions.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R1. 4/2/39 [1807]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce-
Thank you for your kind letter and thought. I shall be very happy to let you know from time to time the extent of my progress.
I have a great deal of faith and optimism regarding my treatments and feel I shall benefit more from this time on. I have been ill and suffered for almost four years now and if the wisdom that has been given you through your readings brings back the sheer joy of living for me I shall be eternally grateful.
I already feel a slight improvement and realize a great deal has yet to be accomplished. Dr. Dobbins was pleased with your check reading.
Until the near future I am,
Sincerely yours

Mr. Edgar Cayce Arctic Crescent Virginia Beach, Va.,
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Recently, I had referred to me by one of my patients an individual who undertook some osteopathic treatments following a psychic reading by you. I became interested in what she had to say and was shown the report which was sent to her together with instructions for her treatment. On the report, she was recommended to Dr. Frank Dobbins for treatment, but inasmuch as she could not get to New York so readily she came to me. I communicated with Dr. Dobbins who happens to be a friend of mine and he told me that he has had some interesting results in many cases referred to him by you. Naturally this method seems quite fantastic on first thought but on thinking more deeply on the subject, I can see certain possibilities. Being more or less a student of psychology and realizing the benefits of suggestions, mingled with faith and hope I can realize where in certain cases your approach may offer to certain individuals that something that we in close contact cannot for one reason or another get across. I am interested in the closely related workings of the glandular system with the autonomic nervous mechanism and firmly believe that the type of mental picture one carries can affect body function. I also believe that each mind and body gives up vibrations that are carried throughout the ether and also believe that in time the human brain will have evolved to the point where it will be able to interpret those impulses received. There may be some that even today are so capable, but we hesitate to believe.
I am interested in what you may have to offer toward helping some of the unfortunates in this world.
Very truly yours, [signed] A. Richard Davies, D.O.
R3. 5/15/39 EC’s letter to Dr. Davies:
Dear Dr. Davies;-
Thank you for yours of the 12th. Personally I do not wonder at your being skeptical at one of the readings, that come through me. Am sending you some data. Read; then if you like other than Dr. Dobbins will give you the name of several Osteopaths through the country and let them tell you their experience with the information.
Have never and do not make claims for myself or the information. That it (the information) has worked consistently for 40 years is an answer to many. That every day the same people who had readings - 6 months - a year - two years - ten years - 20 years - come back again and again, answers something. May fool a person once but is hard to keep them fooled, don’t you think. Well if they are fooled it isn’t me - personally conscious of doing so.
Had rather those who have had their experience with the information tell you about it, for I only know what they have told me.
Assure you my whole desire is to be of a service to my fellow man if possible, and can only do so realize through the assistance of those who may apply the suggestions given.
Thanking you. Hoping you find the data of interest and that I may in some small measure be of help through you.
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R4. 5/25/39 [1807]‘s letter to EC:
… St., East Orange, N.J.
Dear Mr. Cacey.- Since our corresponding and your letter of April 4th I have been feeling very miserable - When I last wrote you, after my check reading, I told you that I was beginning to see a decided improvement. Since that twice I have had definite back-set with a case of grippe. My treatments with Dr. Dobbins have been resumed now for over 6 weeks and I feel no improvement whatever. I am still running a slight temperature and am having intestinal distress and headaches which continue to persist.
I feel that the conditions of the body have changed since the last reading and I feel the need of your help very badly so that I might return to the former state of showing at least some improvement - These conditions of which I spoke, I have received no help on.
Should you be so kind as to give me another reading on the condition of the body at the present time in comparison to former reading and treatments for the same with answers to the following questions?
(1) Are treatments at present correct for condition?
(2) What is the reason for continued or frequent running of temperature - Can you suggest treatment for same?
(3) What can you suggest for the gastric-intestinal distress?
(4) Has the condition of heart been affected by illness. If so, what suggestion can you make?
I should appreciate this greatly if this can be arranged as soon as possible. I am to be in Connecticut until Thursday, June 1st - If you wish to communicate with me in regard to the reading etc. address me to …
