This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of May, 1939, in accordance with request made by the husband - […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:30 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, [1838], we have the body.
-
As we find, in some respects there is a great improvement, ESPECIALLY through those pressures which have existed in the bodily forces, or through the spinal area, and portions even across the hips or lumbar.
-
The acute conditions which arise from the sciatic centers, - these as we find may be materially aided if there will be a massaging with an equal combination (but added in the order named) of Peanut Oil, Olive Oil and Compound Tincture of Benzoin.
-
Massage this combination in those areas from which the sciatic nerves receive their impulse from cerebrospinal system, - the brush end of the spine, of course, but more particularly on those areas at the head of the center for the sciatic nerves.
-
Take more of the beef, or especially LIVER extracts, or liver juices, - the liver may be broiled and then the juice pressed out in a squeezer. This taken as food is easily assimilated, and the body may quickly gain strength from same for nerve impulses, - especially with the other applications.
-
Do not overwork either the Gold or the Atomidine Solution. Change these at least every fifteen days. Re-charge the Appliance every thirty days.
-
We are through with this reading. [See 1838-2, Par. R1.]

Do hope the suggestions in last reading help and that Mrs. [1838] will keep on the improve - please give her our very best and tell her we are keeping her in our prayers and hearts, she just must get better fast. Wish she could be with us for our Congress this year, but am surely going to expect her next year well and happy and a living example of the Love of Good manifested among the children of men.

R3. 5/13/39 Husband’s letter:
Dear Judge Cayce:-
Received the reading of the eleventh inst. and your very kind letter of encouragement - to say both are deeply appreciated is but mildly expressing the feelings of both of us. We went immediately to work on the new idea presented in the last reading and I know benefits will be derived there from. Your letter made Mrs. [1838] very happy - not only your words so sincerely expressed but the fact that you take time out of your busy life to think of and write to her. She has asked me to send you the enclosed check so that you might have something tangible token of respect, esteem and deep gratitude.
She also asks me to inquire if there are any bills accumulated for services rendered. If so will you please have the office send them to me.
I think you are well and not over-taxing yourself - I know you must have many requests for help. But you must conserve your strength - that all may eventually have the benefit of your suggestions and that you may continue to get the pleasures out of life that are rightfully yours.
With kind personal regards
R4. 5/15/39 EC’s letter to [1838]‘s husband:
Dear Mr. […]
Thank you for yours of the 13th - with enclosure. Just hope Mrs. [1838] is feeling a whole lot easier, and will keep on the improve until she is well and strong again.
If I have been of any help am very glad for my whole purpose is to try and help where ever and when ever possible. Do not know that there are any charges Mr. […] - if so the secy will send you notice. My only regret is that there ever has to be a thought of money as connected with the reading. Never like to think of them together at all.
Am very happy to say am feeling very much better than was when in N.Y. last. Am trying to conserve my strength as much as can - but am having to pass some requests. Just can’t keep up with all of them at times. And to have the opportunity and then not be even able to try - well does worry me at times.
Thanking you and love and regards to you both
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
R5. 6/26/39 Husband’s letter:
Monday
My Dear Friend:-
Have not written you before this for I felt you were so tied up with the convention and meetings that my trouble should be kept to myself. But now I hope you will have a few minutes for me. Mrs. [1838] has been so miserable, and suffering such pain in her right leg & foot that I just must ask your help & if possible further direction. We have been following all instructions for over 2 1/2 months, & tho I feel in my heart progress has been made, she is so miserable I felt we might have a review of our work to find our error someplace - the last time (early May) I asked for relief of the pains in the leg - the reading told me to use Benzoin over definite parts, which has been done & still is being done but with no perceptible improvement. So I ask you, dear friend, for further suggestions to relieve this pain. She has faith and believes relief will come to her, - her fortitude is admirable. Yet she seems to grow weak, from this physical suffering and my heart goes out to her. Will you please review her case with the hope of finding assistance for this acute condition.
Gratefully yours […]
R6. 7/1/39 Letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have your very kind letter of recent date relative to reading for Mrs. [1838] to take place the afternoon of July 5th and have this to say:
Have carefully gone over the case with both Mrs. [1838] and Mr. Jeiter who has been in charge of the work as originally outlined by you. Naturally, the question of relief from pain is paramount. May we respectfully ask -
What can you suggest to relieve the severe pains that continually exist in the lower right leg - the calf and the foot.
Sometime ago “Benzoin” was directed to be applied to back and other parts. This has been done without apparent results. Should it be continued.
At the time Mr. Jeiter is applying treatment, Mrs. [1838] is without pain. Can you suggest anything she might do for herself when he is not there.
Will you please review the work of Mr. Jeiter and tell us if there is an error in his treatment of the body. If so, will you correct it.
Mrs. [1838] cannot sit or stand comfortably more than a few minutes at a time. Will the relief asked for in question number one help this or is there further suggestion to relieve her pain in the calf of the right leg and foot in the manner of her body posture as she sits or stands.
We are seeking relief from severe pain that exists at all times except during the work of Mr. Jeiter. We sincerely hope and pray you will suggest this relief.
Thanking you in advance, I am
Gratefully yours,
