GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures. Mr. Jeiter is with her at present, - they both seek advice and will carefully carry out the instructions. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is body and mind responding properly to treatment thus far given by Mr. Jeiter? (A) As we find, thus far there is in the main very good response.
-
(Q) Does Mr. Jeiter follow the information as given? (A) Mr. Jeiter can answer this himself. For these applications as we have outlined, as we find, are the BETTER manner for obtaining helpful forces for this body.
Do as indicated.
-
(Q) Is he handling the case properly from a psychological angle? (A) This is very well. Do not impose self, but the principles.
-
(Q) How can Jeiter and patient [1838] work closer together? (A) This is just repeating what has been asked and given before! By applying properly just what has been given, - consistently, persistently, prayerfully!
-
(Q) What pathology do you find in the central nervous system now? (A) The same that has been indicated heretofore, - the breaking up of the impulses between the cerebrospinal and the attempt to coordinate through the sympathetic or vegetative system.
-
(Q) How should Jeiter proceed to treat the cerebrospinal system? (A) Especially in those centers that have been indicated, where there is to be the coordination between the cerebrospinal impulses, or connections between cerebrospinal and sympathetic. Stimulate these to activity.
Also use the low electrical forces, for the activity of these is to gently stimulate the ganglia along these specific centers, so that there is the distribution and assimilation of the vibratory effects created by same.
-
(Q) What temperature should be maintained when daily baths are taken by the patient? (A) Body-temperature.
-
(Q) Please lay out a program for the patient’s day of activity to produce best physical and psychological effect, indicating what is good and bad diversion for the body. (A) This should be rather according to the impulses brought about by not only the applications but the desire on the part of the body itself to use those abilities, those faculties of body and mind for a USEFULNESS in appreciation of the opportunities in this particular experience.
-
(Q) Is playing mah jong at night before retiring good for the body, or is it too tiring for her? (A) This should be, as has been indicated, rather according to the desire of the body, - just so it doesn’t overtire the body.
-
(Q) In giving the massage, should it be to the heart or from the heart? (A) Rather in the specific centers as the applications are made of the Gold and the Atomidine for the distribution of the energies, and thus would not be in the nature of TO or FROM, but as to add the impulse of the activity of the nerve forces to the muscular activities of the bodily fluids themselves.
-
(Q) Which glands are disturbed? Describe the nature of it. (A) All of them! The nature of it should be known by the pathologist!
-
(Q) How will the rigidity in lower lumbar be relieved of congestion? (A) By the applications of the things suggested.
-
(Q) How long will it be before we can see evidence of the improvement? (A) Depends upon the reaction of the body to same.
-
(Q) What shall we look to as evidence so we can know we are progressing as stated? (A) The mental reaction as well as the physical static forces of the bodily influences themselves.
-
(Q) Are the glands overactive, underactive, or not functioning glands? (A) Some are overactive, some are underactive, - some rarely act at all!
-
(Q) What pulsation may be expected in lower extremities? (A) Eighty-four.
-
(Q) Noticeable congestion existing in the 3rd to the 7th thoracia vertebrae - what is the nature of it and what will relieve? (A) This is just a part of the whole general condition, from the disturbance in the nerve forces of the bodily influences, as we have indicated. And if there will be carried out all of those influences through the impulses of the nerve activities, and the application of that which replenishes the fluids through the activities of the glandular system for its beneficial conditions, we may expect relief.
-
(Q) Do you suggest use of heating pad to relieve pain to lower regions when they occur? (A) When they occur this is very well, if there is applied something of the character of oils that may be carried to the affected portions by the heat and by the natural reflex action that comes from heat to tissue in the body. We would use Cocoa Butter.
-
(Q) Should prescription of tablets (sent down already) be continued? (A) These should be kept occasionally to relieve the tension, but gradually left off as the bodily improvements come about.
-
(Q) Is her diet the proper one that is now taken? (A) Very good.
-
(Q) Should raw vegetables or only their juices be taken? (A) These can be alternated and changed. At times, if the activities of the body are some improved, it will be necessary that there be the weight or the drosses from the whole body of the vegetables, - as well as the juices, or strength from same.
-
(Q) What vegetables are best for body? (A) Those that carry a well-balancing of the silicon and potash, lime and iron. All of the leafy vegetables.
-
(Q) What fruits are best, raw or cooked? (A) All of the fruits may be taken as we find, except raw apples. Cooked apples may be very well. All of the berry variety are the better, especially at this season.
-
(Q) Should body spend time in sunshine or will it be too much exertion walking two or three blocks to Riverside Drive or Central Park? (A) This will have to be governed by the impulses of the body. Use the strength that is attained from day to day, but do not tax the vitality of the body. This means there MUST be exercise, and it is best for it to be in the open, of course, but do not overdo any of it.
-
(Q) Could the galvanic battery with a control be substituted for present battery and use the same chemicals - Gold and Atomidine? (A) If the galvanic had been better, we would have given it! This would be too much of a shock. There is needed rather the character of the electrical forces as indicated, that are creative, and that are impulsed by GROWTH into the vibratory forces of the body, - rather than the electronic impulse that comes from the pulsation of such a high nature.
USE the character given, IF you would have the better results.
- We are through for the present.

R3. 4/29/39 Husband’s letter:
Dear Judge Cayce:-
This is the first opportunity I have had to write you since your visit.
I want you to know how deeply I am appreciative of your call on Mrs. [1838]. It was like a tonic to her. She has spoken many times of your taking the time out of your very busy day to see her.
She means everything to me, I am living and working for her and any one who helps her is my friend indeed.
I am happy to report she is making progress, slowly to be sure, but progress. I have gone over the original reading again with Mr. Jeiter to see to it that everything is being done to the letter. He too is deeply interested & believes in all you have told us and is as particular as I am to follow each instruction.
It offered me great pleasure in meeting you and listening to you. A pleasure which I hope I will have soon again.
Mrs. [1838] joins me in sending kind personal regards. Wishing you and your good health.
Sincerely,
R4. 5/1/39 EC’s ltr. to [1838]‘s husband:
Dear Mr. […]:
Thank you for yours of the 29th - it was very nice of you to speak so kindly of me and my feeble efforts, it was a real pleasure to meet you and Mrs. [1838] - she is such a lovely darling person and any of and every one am sure would be glad to do all possible for her, can well understand why you wish to do much for her - am happy to know there is some help coming - can she be free from pain, and keep that constructive attitude, am sure she will be healed - all healing must come from the once source - just to make each atom of the body aware of the Divine with in, and we have health.
Thanking you again and again - asking to be remembered very kindly to Mrs. [1838].
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
R5. 5/6/39 Husband’s letter:
Dear Judge Cayce:-
I hesitate to write you for fear I will make a nuisance of myself - but am taking a chance, since a condition has arisen on which I need your suggestion.
Mrs. [1838] has made progress, there is no question about that - She has had no pains in her back for over two weeks. But - She is having daily and continuous severe pains in her right leg & foot from the knee down. I thought there might be something to do for it in addition to what is now being done. So since she is so miserable with it I was wondering if one questions could be asked for a check up, namely - Is there anything further to be done to relieve the pain in the right leg? -
I need not repeat my gratitude & esteem - for I feel sure by now you must feel our sincerity.
Should this question be asked and a suggestion given could your secretary wire us at once. Mrs. [1838] is ALWAYS home from 2 to 6 for those are the hours of treatment.
Sincerely
R6. 5/9/39 See 1838-3.
