Time of Reading 3:45 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1871].
-
Now as we find, the disturbing forces arise from conditions or injuries of an external nature that produced lesions in the cerebrospinal system; an engorgement that presses upon the lumbar and sacral centers, thus destroying the activity in the locomotory forces or centers in the lower portions of body.
-
These as we find may be materially aided.
-
While this has become static in its nature, this may be relieved by persistent and consistent effort, if there are the correct applications.
-
The rest of the system as we find would be materially aided and benefited by those applications as necessary for correcting those injuries that formed lesions.
-
As we find, under those activities from hot and cold applications, and one that - with the applying of these - would make the corrections by GENTLE massaging, we would gradually correct these conditions.
-
Such applications should be made at least every other day. And following the massage, all along the spine, we would rub the body with an equal combination of Pine Oil, Olive Oil, and Peanut Oil. While these do not mix well, use equal proportions, shake together and pour into a saucer or open container into which the fingers may be dipped, and then with the palm of the hand and fingers massage the areas that are stiffened, - of course, including the sciatic centers and the limbs, on the side and underneath as well as the knees and to the feet, - that there may be the returning of the circulation, the gradual building up so that there is the ability to control the limbs through the natural or normal activity.
-
Backman, as we find, would be the PREFERABLE one to administer such.
-
After these treatments have been taken, every other day, for at least fifteen to twenty-five such treatments, we would give further instructions.
-
In the matter of the diet, - not too much fats, but a regular body-building diet; not as to produce too much heaviness, but of the nature to be regular in the activity for supplying elements that are natural for nerve, blood and body-building.
-
Plenty, of course, of whole wheat; plenty of fruits and vegetables.
-
Not too much of meats, nor too much of starches, - unless these are attempted to be “worked off” by the activities of the body, after the first two or three weeks of such applications.
-
Do that, and we will bring the better forces for this body, [1871].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should the hot and cold applications be wet or dry? (A) Wet, to be sure. These would be very heavy towels, applied one right after the other, - in the form, as has been indicated, that is used by that one suggested - Backman.
-
We are through for the present.

RE: [1871]
Dear Sir:
The above is following your instruction as per the reading, although, same called for sixteen treatments he has received to date ten with an improvement after each administration. Will you please advise whether he should continue to take the said treatments.
In a conversation with the chiropractor, who is of of the belief that there may be an internal disturbance of the liver or gall bladder of which there is no mention in the reading. Please advise whether such a condition exists, and is the walking exercise prescribed necessary.
The above is at present in a very bad financial difficulty not being in a position to pay his physicians’ bills nor purchase the medicines required, therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give him another reading for if he were stronger he could make a living for his family as a Linotype operator.
Thanking you in advance and awaiting to hear from you as to the date set for his reading, I remain
Respectfully yours, [1965]
P.S. Please advise what progress the cure is making up-to-date.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I came in touch with a very pitiful case last Saturday night and I am wondering whether you would be good enough to see if there is something you can do for this man.
This young man is 35 years old and is the father of a family but met with an automobile accident about three years ago and has been unable to do any work since. He cannot use his legs and the doctors claim they do not know what is causing the trouble. I would like to sponsor a Reading for him to see if there is anything that can be done to help him. Please let me know when it would be convenient for you to give this Reading. This man is at his home all the time. His name is [1871].
… N.J.
I will attach his request to this letter so you will know that he wants this Reading himself.
I want to take this opportunity of telling you how enthusiastic my son is about his Reading and how hopeful he is that he will make the recovery that you promised him in his Reading [See 1844-1]. He has had several treatments and can already see a great improvement.
Thanking you for your courtesy in this matter, believe me
Sincerely, [1965]

Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Sir:
Through the recommendation of a very true friend Mr. [1965] of …, N.J. I have come to conclusion that you are my salvation.
I’m 36 years of age. I’m married and have two children. Four years ago I was in automobile accident and suffered a very bad fracture of left leg and also internal injuries.
I was getting along very good until something happened to both of my legs. I can walk very little distance but I can’t seem to control them. I am still in that condition.
My financial standing does not allow me to have proper care. In fact thanks in full to relatives and very good friends my family and me are barely able to make our living. I’m unable to work and things are pretty bad but my wife and I have great hopes that possibly you will help me.
Hoping to hear from you in near future, I remain
Sincerely, [1871]
