This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of May, 1939, in accordance with request made by Dr. Frank Dobbins for the patient, through Associate Membership in Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, those applications have not been altogether made as suggested; and there are still - as indicated - those disturbances such that there might become a sudden acute condition causing separation of body, mind and soul; indicating that there might be a sudden condition of heart as related to circulation that would overcome the activities through the system, see?

4. Then, as we find, it is well to keep the body quiet; to stimulate the circulatory forces to keep the blood away from the heart’s activity, so that it does not make for an increase in the flooding of the area between heart and liver.

5. Do that for the better conditions of this body.

R1. 6/2/39 HLC’s letter to Dr. Dobbins:

Dear Dr. Dobbins:

We are looking forward to having you here for the Congress this year. The meeting at which the physical readings will be discussed is scheduled for Friday evening, June 16th.

You and Dr. Curtis Hudgins will handle the discussion on the physical readings aside from my brief remarks of introduction. I would suggest that you plan a thirty to forty-five minute talk. Your general remarks concerning the number of cases you have handled, the variety, the accuracy of analyses, etc., are excellent. You might include a couple of the more interesting cases in detail.

We would like to give those present a clear picture of just what a physical reading is. The two major objectives are, of course, to help individuals and collect a record of accurate helpful psychic information.

We have been sorry to learn of Mrs. Dobbins illness and hope that she will be well enough to come down with you. We have a very healthy climate down this way.

Dad had hoped you would be able to get down for a long enough period to do a little fishing. He is planning a trip with a couple of men who will be here for the day before the Congress begins.

I do hope you will be able to stay for the Congress dinner on Saturday evening. All our meetings will be at the Warner Hotel here in Virginia Beach. I think you will like it there.

Advise me if I may be of assistance in making reservations for you in the event you find that it will be possible to stay longer than the one day. Otherwise I will make reservation for you for the Friday evening at the Warner.

R2. 6/16/39 Friday evening - Eighth Annual Congress of A.R.E., Hotel Warner, Va. Beach, Va.

R3. 7/39 A.R.E. Bulletin Congress report by HLC: Dr. Curtis Hudgins of Norfolk, Va., reported on his observation and treatment of twenty-three cases on whom readings had been given. Dr. Frank Dobbins, who came from N.Y. to be present for this meeting, reported his observations and experiences with cases selected from over two hundred individuals who had obtained physical readings. Both of these doctors emphasized the accuracy, range and benefits derived. Some two hundred members and friends were present at this meeting.

R4. 8/20/39 HLC’s letter to Dr. Dobbins:

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Dear Dr. Dobbins,

I feel badly about not having written you sooner.

There was such a rush after the meeting during the Congress, that we hardly had time for a moment to talk. We all appreciated very much your interest and co-operation in coming down from New York to speak at the Conference.

While a little long, I feel that we had a very successful meeting and you contributed in great measure to its success.

Tom Sugrue is spending the summer with us and I believe is improving steadily. For the first time in many months he has been able to take a ride in an automobile, get in the ocean (with help of course), and is beginning to move himself about more easily. He is still unable to walk and his legs are in pretty bad shape. Doctors in New York, Florida, and here say that he’ll never walk again, but we have our own ideas about that.

Dad has finally gotten away for a little rest. He and my brother drove up to Canada last week for some fishing in the St. Lawrence. I expect they may stop in New York for a day at the Fair before they come back.

I will see you in New York in the fall. Thank you again for your many courtesies and assistance.

Enclosed you will find a copy of a letter to a Mr. [1883]. He seems a bet confused about his reading and I expect you can clear it up for him in just a few minutes.
