1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - ” - ‘39 - some periods of anxiety - ‘24 - changes - Yes, the bells rung during the period when this entity entered the material plane - near where the entity was born.”)

3. We are given here the records of that entity now known as [1935].

4. While this should not discourage the entity, we find that here is an entity allowing its abilities to be used in channels that are just “something to do” and to meet the material emergencies. The abilities as a healer, as a teacher or leader, should have been developed; and they MAY still be developed, if there is the desire on the part of the entity to accomplish same.

5. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here for this entity, these we choose with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfil the purposes for which it entered this material sojourn.

6. We would minimize the faults and magnify the virtues. This should be the ideal and purpose of the entity in its dealings with others; though there may oft occur in the experience the inclination to feel that the entity is being neglected. This is something of the ego manifesting. And yet this used aright, and in the Christ-Consciousness, may bring not only a growth and an unfoldment but hope and peace in the lives of others. But if it is applied in a nature as of requiring the attention to self, it may bring hardships, even separations. But remember, it is best to learn first to be able to live with self and thy concept of thy Maker.

7. As to urges latent and manifested, - we find Venus, Jupiter and Uranus are manifested as urges in the latent forces or dreams, or latent abilities of the entity. Thus the entity is attractive to all with whom it may come in contact, or those whom it may choose to attract by applying its own mind or its activity. This is well, if applied in that spirit as indicated.

8. From Jupiter we find the universal consciousness, which needs - though - unfoldment. For, rather the influences of Venus were applied in the experience before this, and the Jupiterian in that experience which, as we shall see, is more of a latent force - yet may be unfolded in the present.

9. Uranus brings the extremes, - interest in the occult; the abilities to heal even by the laying on of hands - those who are closely associated with the body. As the entity experiences with those of the closer association, the ability to touch or to be near or to put the hands or to have the hands of the body put on them, brings quiet, brings a peace, brings a satisfaction. This is good, applied from the spiritual angle, and the ways in the mental for healing. But it may become of a different spirit of activity, if applied in only the material satisfaction that may be gained.

10. As to the appearances, - not all of these may be indicated; only those that have the more to do with those unfoldments that are manifested in the experiences indicated in the present:

11. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity. While the entity was born in the New York or the Mohawk Valley land, during the early settlings, it journeyed to the present environs and there aided in the establishing of surroundings that became of a nature of good, - and yet of some questions to some.

12. The name then was Etta Wodswarth. From that experience there are the present abilities to attract the opposite sex, and the entity may - if it so chooses - always have more than one on a string, as it may be termed. This may be for good or for bad, dependent upon what is the choice or the desire or the purpose in such, in the experience of the entity.

13. The abilities that enable the entity to attract also enable the entity to give out of self in that as a teacher, as an instructor, as a healer, as a nurse, or in those fields where there may be mental aid brought to the physical being through the strong character - and loveliness - of the entity itself.

14. Before that the entity was in the Promised Land, or Palestine land, in those periods of activities of the followers or disciples of the Master in the earth.

15. The entity was among those given, by the very power given to the disciples or the Apostles, to be a healer, an instructor, a teacher, both of the young and the old. This brought into the experience of the entity some periods of activity in which - while there were many persecutions and there were abilities necessarily used by the entity to be able to control crowds, groups, or individuals - there came understanding and aid to the entity, as well as its associates and activities, through the period.

16. The name then was Lacish. In the experience the entity gained much.

17. Before that the entity was in the Grecian land, among the first of those chosen to be sent into the “city in the hills and the plains.”

18. The entity then was beautiful in body, in mind, and in activity. In the associations there we find the entity came under those influences of the teacher, and was given those activities in association with the hospitalization, or among those who aided in the caring for the young.

19. From that experience we find the abilities of the entity to control the opposite sex for its own use, or for the furthering of the entity’s own plans.

20. The entity gained through the greater portion, - and the abilities as the healer, as the teacher, as the instructor, are a part of the latent and manifested abilities of the entity in the present.

21. The name then was Eccoro.

22. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there were the activities of rebuilding under the Priest, when there was the establishing of the Temple of Sacrifice and the Temple Beautiful.

23. The entity was purified through the Temple of Sacrifice and dedicated through the activities in the Temple Beautiful; becoming one that led in the healings under the direction of the Priest, especially as related to the children - or during those periods of childbirth through those periods of activities.

24. Then the name was Is-It-Tis.

25. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

26. First, know thine own ideals.

27. In ANY form of service in which the entity may contribute to the mental, spiritual and physical well-being of others, the entity may succeed. But the greater development or growth would come from that applying of self as a healer or instructor; or a teacher in spiritual and mental truths, and in their application in the experience of others. But apply only that thou hast applied and experienced in thine own associations with thy fellow man.

28. The entity may excel in these, if there is the application in those directions indicated.

29. Study, then, to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth, and keeping SELF unspotted from the world - or from condemnation from others.

30. Ready for questions.

31. (Q) Should I go to Beltsville, Maryland, when my office moves there or should I transfer to another office in a more convenient location for me? (A) That must be chosen by the entity itself. This will be the opportunity for the changes as we have indicated here, but if there is not felt within self the understanding and sufficient interpretation, or the material needs are such that it requires the full time activity, then better change with the office.

32. (Q) What Government agency in Washington and person should I contact for a position for which I am qualified and where I would be most likely to be happy? (A) You do not belong, really, in the Government service at all!! Then why make such application? BUT, if this is the choice of the entity, then choose thou - and use those abilities, the attractiveness, to influence individuals for that ye choose.

33. (Q) Should I make an effort to become separated from my husband? (A) If this is the desire, and there is more love in thine activity with others that are influencing and that ye can influence, choose thou. WE would not make it, because the same thing will happen to you that is happening to someone else!

34. (Q) Where and how have I been formerly associated with my friend, […], to whom I am closely attracted in the present? (A) In the experience before this he was your lover, but not your husband!

35. (Q) In the Mohawk Valley period, was I the child of [808] (Then Patricia Wodswarth) who migrated and helped found Alexandria, Virginia? (A) As has been indicated.

36. (Q) Did I become associated then with [2784], then Andrew Batellu, in Alexandria during George Washington’s time? (A) This was previous to Andrew Batellu, though there was the acquaintance with or the knowing of his activities in the latter portion of the life, but not a close associate.

R1. 8/17/42 Mrs. [808]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Edgar:

Received [1935]‘s reading and thanks a lot - we both think it is wonderful and amazed at her latent ability or gift to heal. She said it certainly is a latent ability because she never dreamed that that was the field that she should have gone into it. As a matter of fact she never had any desire to be around sick people; she sympathizes with them so it makes her ill. There are so many things that neither of us understand about the reading, and she asks me to explain - ME! Who knows nothing about it. Sure wish we had Hugh Lynn here as he makes everything in it so perfectly clear, that there is nothing left that you don’t understand. She wanted to know if she were ever associated with you - I judge that she was in the Persian period as it speaks of the teacher, whom I presume was you, and then in the Egyptian period as being associated (closely) with the Priest. That was you too, wasn’t it? In that case she would have been also associated with [2784] and me in those periods - isn’t that right? Then too, I interpret the healing virtue to the period when she was in the Promise Land - wasn’t that power given to her by the Master to heal? Have I interpreted that correctly? I think the main point in her reading is this power to heal and the power that she has to influence people, either for the good or bad, but which should be encouraged or practiced for the good. Then too in her last appearance, when she left the Mohawk Valley to come to this section, it says it was founded for the good - but to some it seemed otherwise, or words to that effect. We don’t understand what that means.

Her astrological influences we don’t understand at all. I thought perhaps if we could get a book on astrology that explains the influences obtained from each of these planets that we might understand that a little better. Perhaps Hugh Lynn could tell me exactly what book to get. We have a couple at home but they don’t give the planets and the influences from them.

I know that every word in these readings means something important to an individual and I don’t want her to miss the meaning of a thing, so thus the reason for seeking all this information. Wish too that you would read Mrs. [1935]‘s reading and see what you think of it - She wants you to do this. She said she often wondered what her purpose was in this life - why she’s here. It is a shame that anyone with so wonderful a gift to heal, doesn’t know about it and doesn’t gain interest in that field. She asked me this morning how she would go about this, etc? That would have been another good question in the reading as I don’t have any idea. It seems to emphasize the teaching part of it, but it seems rather late for her to take up this phase of it inasmuch as she has to help support her family. Gee, I’m so glad that I’m a home builder; that seems much easier to accomplish and right at present is very much the desire on my part. However, I never knew that I had gone into this in such a big way either. I guess you tell people a lot of things about themselves that they never knew before!!!

Anyway, I guess to answer all my questions you will have to write me a book - sooooo, why don’t you come and tell us in person??? We have to get you here by hook or crook!!!

Wasn’t that awful about you not getting my letter with the questions in until Wednesday? I was so surprised because I sent that on Saturday afternoon. I dropped it in the mailbox in the park and [2784] told me the mailman probably wouldn’t bother picking up the mail in that box inasmuch as it was raining so hard and it was so out of the way. However, even then I figured that would get it Tuesday morning. I would have been so worried if I thought it wouldn’t get there. Do hope it didn’t inconvenience you too much. Thanks for giving her another appointment and going ahead with it - She would have been terribly disappointed to say nothing of how disappointed I would have been.

[2784] is going to get the other 8 pounds of sugar due him this week and will send it to you - Then he will have to wait until the next coupon is due and I think will get only two pounds. Isn’t that awful? Compared to 100 pounds that seems such a little bit!!!

And about the tires - He inquired at a gas station Saturday and they told him to come back Tuesday and talk to the manager. So he is going to do that.

[816] hasn’t called us yet so presume they haven’t gotten back from their trip - I wrote them at the apartment and asked them to call us when they got back to town.

I’ve just finished King Solomon’s reign in the lessons [Bible Minutes] and gosh they are interesting - I’m practically up-to-date on them. When I start I sure hate to put them down. I was reading part of your interpretations to [2874] in bed yesterday morning. By the way, ask May if I owe her a dollar yet - She was to let me know when I got to that point each time, but haven’t seen any indication of it lately.

Can’t think of anything else right now - Remember us to all and thank Gladys too for getting the reading out to us so promptly.

R2. 8/27/42 EC’s letter to [808]:

Dear [808]:

Didn’t come across yours of the 18th - when wrote you yesterday but find it among the mail this morning, so get to talk with you by letter again today. Glad you liked the reading for Mrs. [1935]. Yes we are often amazed at the latent powers indicated in the information, but more often than otherwise we find when such are exercised in the least, they develop in a hurry, but that Mrs. [1935] feels rather repugnance to being about those who are ill, doesn’t speak so well of these facts in her case, yet believe were she to make a bit of a study of such she would feel entirely different about it all, she evidently has the attraction of making others feel better when she comes about them.

Think it is like some one said years ago - Life readings are fine - if you will send H. L. along to explain them - but will help out as best can, then might be well for her to write H. L. and ask him to give her his analysis of the reading. Am sure he will be glad to do that.

Yes - evidently she was an associated with me in the Persian and also in the Egyptian. Yes - and with you and [2784] also in those periods. Evidently she has the healing influence from the Persian also the Promised land.

Evidently there was some question of how or why she left the Mohawk valley man might question - but for spiritual development and in God’s purposes she used her abilities then for good, so was the correct move for her, is the way I interpret it. Was alright about the delay - and so happened that didn’t make any difference but had we had appointments for several days would have mixed things up. Sure will be glad to have the sugar - hasn’t come as yet - and notice have a lot of figs on the little tree we have this morning but will have to wait on some sugar. But thanks a lot - and will surely remember you and as Kat wrote me few days ago for some jelly she said “Ecken asks for some jelly every morning so if you will send us a few stands, will love you for the rest of my life” so if you can send the sugar will love you both for the rest of my life.

Will be more than excellent can he find something in tires - for are getting in low on those here.

Think if you get any current magazine on Astrology it will help - however as you possibly realize the readings do not hold the same ideas as do the astrologist much that is similar yes - but the whys are a bit different but you will get much from the study of any book or magazine on astrology.

Do hope may have the chance to talk Mrs. [1935]‘s reading with her - think it might be worth a trip to do that as could be with you and [2784] at the same time - think will try that any way.

Haven’t heard any more from [816] - guess he is still on trip

• do hope tho Mrs. [811] is feeling much better.

Think the lessons are very interesting have had some very fine discussions of late and the interest grows - so do our crowd even with gas rationing.

R5. 10/27/42 Mrs. [808]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Edgar:

Received your letter last night and so sorry to hear that you have a cold. So many people around here have had colds too - Expect it is from so much damp, rainy weather. It doesn’t seem as though it ever will stop raining. I do hope you get rid of your cold quickly and that you have no ill effects. In addition to the discomfort, it does keep you away from the baby, and that never will do!!!

I know the baby is cute and do tell me all the things about him that have developed so far and that fit in so well with the reading. I am so terribly interested and I just can’t wait until I see you to hear all the happenings. I know how difficult it is to put these things in letters, but I see you so very seldom. I am going to tell you my story in this letter too in spite of the fact that it will sound queer on paper. I would so much rather tell you in person, but can’t keep it any longer.

About 6 weeks ago, when the season was changing, I started having my usual “change of season” spells. One night I stayed awake all night battling with myself to get some sleep and the next morning I was a wreck. When I came to work [1935] immediately knew what was happening. However, the next night instead of repeating that ordeal like I usually do when I start like that, I went to bed exhausted and all wrought up from lack of sleep, but quieted down immediately and went right to sleep. I hadn’t slept so soundly for years. The next morning [1935] asked me how I slept and I just raved that about what a wonderful night’s sleep I had, but thought it too good to last and when it continued the next night, and the next night, I was surprised. Well, the fourth day [1935] told me that she had decided to use her “powers” on me. You know her reading said she had a supernatural power of healing. She didn’t know how to go about this, but decided at the time she wanted me to go to sleep every night she would pray for this. The following Sunday night I had another restless night and I came in Monday morning and accosted her with the fact that she didn’t work on me the night before and she said she had forgotten all about it. However, she has continued to do it every night since and almost exactly the time that she does it (without me knowing about it) I commence to get sleepy. I wanted to be sure about this before telling you, but I am convinced. It does work and within a half-hour from the time that she does it. I know anyone would think we were crazy if we told them, and probably those in our office that hear us talking do think so, but it couldn’t happen exactly like that every night if it were just accidental. One of the men in our office got sick. He told [1935] that he hadn’t been sleeping and he was so nervous. [1935] decided that she would do the same thing for him that night and we were dying to find out the next day if he slept and if he felt better. He came in and said he slept so hard he could hardly get up and said the pills the doctor gave him certainly were powerful. Well, we thought maybe it was the pills, so she didn’t do it the next night and he had an awful night. He decided not to take the pills anymore because they had a bad reaction. Does that sound crazy??? Not to me it doesn’t. Be sure and let me know your reaction about this, I am so anxious to get your opinion. [1935] still can hardly believe it. She says anyone that prays sincerely would get the same results. It is probably the combination of both. All healing comes from one source, as we well know, and inasmuch as she was once given that power, I think she still has it.

Do hope you can come soon. We do want to see you so much. It won’t be long before the book will come out, so you better plan on coming soon.

R6. 10/30/42 EC’s letter to [808] & [2784]:

Dear [808] and [2784]:

Thanks for yours of the 27th - and for dues enc. Glad to say cold is some what better, haven’t felt the best in the world and have been pretty busy, but making out, but want to give my best if possible, hope will be lot better soon. The baby they say is fine, haven’t seen him now for a week or more, didn’t want to carry a cold to him, but they say he grows sweeter each day and is growing real fast, Sally phoned me the other day to hurry up and come to see him while he was still a baby, that he was growing mighty fast now.

Every thing seems to fit as to his disposition and character

• that is the crazy curious thing about the readings, they fit the case so well - have a lot to look forward to with him and much will be with fear and trembling, literally, but will be interesting am sure as well as the realization of a real problem in some ways.

The story about [1935] - that is just wonderful, [808]. You see how well it follows the theory of the readings, each individual has some out standing quality or ability, compare it to singing or playing some musical instrument any one may in a general way do any of these, but some are gifted to make a real contribution in some particular field, so with the magnetic power of prayer and mind of some individuals, and when one so gifted practices the ability it just gives the results, then it is up to the individual, as to whether they play as it were, Jass [Jazz] or classical music with their minds and hearts - that is does she use the ability, to the Glory of God, will be beautiful, if for self praise or glory, will eventually work a hardship to self and to others.

Am sure that [1935] has the power within - we all have but as the Good Book says “To some is given the power of prophecy, to some the power of teaching, to others the gift of healing, all of the same spirit” so it is up to the individual to work whereunto they are called, or gifted, and [1935] has a wonderful power in her self. Let’s all pray and help her use it aright. Which am sure she will. Am sure does she stop to analyze the influence she may exert - she will get shaky - only trust in GOD and do the right, and more power and glory to her.

Do hope may be able to get up that way soon, would certainly like to meet her. Now you see from your experience with [1935] what the Glad Helpers do and how much they help they get for selves and others with their feeble efforts not all in the group have the power as [1935], but a united effort certainly helps or as the seal of Ky - “United we stand divided we fall” she will of course find times and individuals with whom she may not get give the help as with others. Jesus did, and so will she, but keeping the stress in self where it belongs she can give much to the Glory of His Promises to the children of men.

Thank you for telling me about it, am sure she has a great work to do, tell her to just keep sweet and put the stress where the stress belongs, - in the power of God and not in self.

R7. 10/31/42 Mrs. [808]‘s letter to HLC:

Dear Hugh Lynn:

Your Dad told me to wait about 10 days before sending you Mrs. [1935]‘s questions, so I am sending them now. However, if you still don’t have a chance to get to them, there is no hurry and anytime will be perfectly alright. As a matter of fact Mrs. [1935] didn’t even want to ask you, feeling that it would be an imposition, so thus the reason why I am writing the letter. I know you don’t mind and would rather have the points that are questionable in her mind cleared up. So just anytime that you have a chance to do this, will be appreciated. The questions are enclosed.

Do hope Sally and the baby are getting along just fine. Remember me to Sally, will you? Know the baby is wonderful because your Dad said so!!! I told him he had to tell me all about him and not to be modest when he did.

Page 3 - 1st 3 paragraphs [Par. 14—16] (Promised Land) - Does this mean that I was given the power to heal by Christ? Page 3 - When in Grecian Land - 6th line [Par. 17] of that section. Was the “teacher” referred to here Mr. Edgar Cayce?

Page 3 - Egyptian experience - 3rd line [Par. 22]. Was the “Priest” referred to Mr. Edgar Cayce?

R8. 11/3/42 Mrs. [808]‘s letter:

Dear Edgar:

Received your letter last night and I could hardly wait to open it. I was so anxious to get your reaction about [1935] that I was all thumbs in opening it. I would have told you before about this, but wanted to give it a fair trail and be sure, rather than jump at conclusions after the first week. I have read your letter over and over to be sure that I didn’t miss anything that you were telling us. [1935] is so humble about it and insists that she does nothing but pray and the Lord does the rest - So I’m sure that she won’t use it toward anything but the right channel. If you knew her as I do you would understand. She is like that about everything. The other day we were eating lunch and I was telling [1935] that [2784] had said that morning that I was so much better in every way that I was beginning to be more like my old self. I thought for a minute and asked her how I was ever going to repay her for all she is doing for me, and she immediately retorted for me not to think of such a thing as it wouldn’t continue to work. She then insisted again that SHE wasn’t the one that did it, but she just ASKED for it. So you see the POWER hasn’t been put in the wrong hands, and when you meet her, you will see that it hasn’t.

I showed your letter to [1935] this morning and she was so pleased with it. She is anxious to meet you too. Gosh, can’t you come soon? I’m so glad your cold is better and perhaps a few days in the country will help you get back to normal. I’ll take good care of you, honest I will!! And if you feel too bad to do anything for yourself, we will get [1935] to work on you!!! Know you can do it too, but then with more than one person concentrating, you would return to normal immediately.

Anyway, as Sally told you over the telephone, the baby will be grown up if you don’t get rid of that cold soon and get to see him. I know he is adorable and as you say it will be interesting watching him progress. Do be sure to tell me everything he does, will you?

We had our house painted and it looks so much better. That is the outside. It was supposed to be painted after the first two years that we were in the house, but we waited until now. Fortunate we were in getting someone to do it.

Believe it or not, but I have done a little bit of cooking lately, and if I must say so myself it hasn’t been a COMPLETE failure. I’m practicing up for when you come, but don’t let that disturb you too much, because we have a nice little place near us to eat if it is too bad. However, so far we have both survived!!! I cooked dinner Saturday night and Sunday. We had broiled liver Sunday, baked potatoes, fresh peas, and fruit salad. It was good, too!!! Or maybe I just wanted to think that way!!! It is fun to eat home after eating out all these years and I expect that anything tastes good to us, even MY COOKING.

Must quit - Remember us to all and do hope Sally and the baby continue to get along fine. Also hope your cold is better and remember to come!!!

Dear Mrs. [808]:

It has been sometime since I received your letter enclosing the questions on Mrs. [1935]‘s readings. I am sorry that I have not gotten to them sooner than this.

Sally and the baby are both getting along just fine. I wish you could see the baby.

Question 1, Page 2, second paragraph [Par. 8].

All astrological influences described in the life Readings refer to states of consciousness through which the soul has passed between incarnation on the earth plane. The planets as named, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, etc., are words used as symbols or names for these various experiences.

All Life Readings explain that these urges influence an entity through the mind while, as you will see from other information given in the Life Reading, the experiences in the earth plane furnish the emotional urges.

Jupiter represents a state of consciousness in which the soul developed or acquired certain experience which when translated into urges in the present life tends to give the individual the following characteristics:

Broad point of view; contact with or interest in large numbers of people or enterprises that involve large numbers of people; high-mindedness - a person who lives his standards and principles and if there is a failure in this plane of experience the tendency would be toward being impractical and flighty.

This reading indicates that the Jupiterian influence needs expression and that the entity in question should seek more development along these lines.

Apparently, from Paragraph 3, Page 2 [Par. 8], some conflict with Venus is indicated from another experience, probably difficulties in friendships or love affairs, that would tend to inhibit the present entity in its relation with people.

Question 2, Page 2, fifth paragraph, fifth line [Par. 11], “and yet of some questions to some”.

Considering this whole paragraph, I would interpret this to mean that the entity in this experience in the Mohawk Valley brought some criticism on herself by her attitude toward the men of her acquaintance, probably something in the nature of gossip or general criticism. At this time, she was evidently involved with several people. The indication is that the general development was good.

Question 3, Page 3, first paragraph [Par. 15].

This definitely means that the entity was one of those given the power to be a healer, instructor, and teacher.

Question 4, Grecian Land [Par. 17].

Yes, this reference to the teacher was Edgar Cayce. At this period the Greeks were beginning the invasion of the Arabian lands spreading out toward India. The “city in the hills and plains” referred to was that established by Edgar Cayce as Uhjltd.

Question 5, Page 3 [Par. 22], Egyptian Experience.

The Priest referred to was Edgar Cayce. At this time the Priest headed a very high civilization in Egypt and it was this experience which is the basis for much of the philosophy of his present work.

NOTE: All the way through these various incarnations there seems to be a constant reference to healing work and teaching.

Question 6, Page 3, second paragraph from bottom of page [Par. 27].

The directions given in this reading are that the entity should undertake a work in some way connected with healing or as an instructor or teacher regarding spiritual and mental truths. The warning is that you should teach and use only those things that you have experienced yourself, simply that you should not take the experiences or information given by others and attempt to explain or teach that. In this work, base all your conversation, all your teaching, or anything that you might write even as advice to another person, on your own experience, on your own knowledge, rather than attempt to take it from some source that you have read or heard about.

This is good practical advice in almost any circumstance but is particularly good in reference to any activity in teaching or guiding others regarding mental and spiritual laws.
