GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: (In going back over years from the present - ” - ‘32 - period of unrest and change - ‘28 realities - ” etc., on back to birth date.)
-
Yes - we are given the records here of that entity now known as [808].
-
In interpreting the records, much is here to be interpreted.
-
These emblems in a life seal should be of interest to the entity, as they indicate cycles of advancement, and the hopes that are latent and manifested in the experience:
-
We would put a figure of a maid with a scythe, though this should be a hand sickle; with grain - as of wheat - ripe; with workers in the background; with the crescent and the star, bright, in the fading light; and the cross above same in the sky.
-
These should be in color - circle, to be sure; but these should be of sufficient size to be an emblem for the entity.
-
In interpreting the records as we find them, - these we choose from same, with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfill those purposes for which it chose to enter this present sojourn.
-
For, no one enters by chance, but all is to be experienced unto the glory of the Creative Force or God. For He hath not willed that any soul should perish, but hath with every temptation provided a way of escape.
-
As indicated in the seal, - beauty in body, plenty in the earth, beauty of the heavens; His star and His cross, with the changes as given from the beginning, - “they may be signs, they may be symbols, for seasons, for years, for days.”
-
In interpreting the records, as has been given, there are those influences that arise from astrology, - or those aspects of the solar system or environs through which an entity passes in the interims between earthly sojourns.
-
For, the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. Hence His creatures, of His handiwork, are given dominion and power to manifest in and through the various spheres or aspects of His kingdom. For the whole of creation is a part of this entity, as of each entity.
-
Thus, as we find urges arising from such sojourns, - Jupiter is the ruling force with this entity; hence, as it has gained in this experience, tolerance - as well as the universal consciousness of activities in relationships with others.
-
This brings also activities in which the entity may find means or manners of expression in relationships with others; though individual in nature.
-
Thus, as we find, the entity may have a career - if such is chosen, but such an one in which there is the universal activity in which the interest is in those things pertaining to nature, to the field, to those things having to do with sustenance as indicated in the field, - as in grain, as in the sickle.
-
In Mercury we find judgment and consideration, and this with tolerance gives that ability for the entity to be companionable with whatever influence or environ in which it may find itself.
-
The entity is one well liked, then, in any environ.
-
We find in Venus the painstaking nature, the activities in which there is beauty of expression and the manner of association that brings such activities in the experience.
-
Neptune brings the associations with those who have to do with water signs, or water activities. This is also the mystic influence, and the intuitive force that arises in the varied experiences of this entity.
-
As to the activities in the earth, - these we find quite varied, but indeed may any be pleased with themselves who may be acquainted with this entity, or who may call this entity a friend. For, this may mean, could mean much. For the entity only brings into the experience of those with whom it comes in contact that which it has builded in its experiences through its sojourns in the earth. Not that there has not been failures or faults, as may be termed, but the purpose has been that the entity may do that which is unto the glory of the Father.
-
While these have brought at times disappointments in others, such that the entity has taken upon itself those disturbances of others, we find that such associations will bring, do bring, a peace within that is not of the earth making.
-
Then, - as to the appearances, - before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity; during the early settlings in the land, especially when there were the establishings of the activities along what is known as the Mohawk. It was when there was the pushing farther and farther into the tilling of the land by the natives and those peoples who had made friends with the natives.
-
The entity was among those who assisted in establishing a home there; a mill, near where there were those activities, which brought into the experience of the entity the need of, the use of GRAIN.
-
Thus, as there were those developments through that experience, the entity was a home builder; but was oft disappointed in those activities which brought about the dissenting influences in that early settling.
-
The name then was Patricia Wodswarth. In the experience the entity gained.
-
From that experience we find in the present the abilities to meet conditions as they arise in relationships with others. These may bring disturbing forces, yet the entity in its choices will choose that which is good.
-
Before that the entity was in the French land, during those periods when there were the sojournings of that one who had been put away because of the uprisings in England, - because of the disputes among the common peoples, and the partly religious warfare.
-
The entity was acquainted with that monarch, or who became afterwards the monarch, and with many of those who had aided in the periods of his sojourn in the French land.
-
There the entity found disappointments in the manners in which the entity was treated, after there was the recall of Charles the Second to the English throne.
-
And this has made the entity at times question men and their intentions, their relationships, their activities. Yet this has brought to the entity a manner or means or way of judgments. And wisdom has grown from same, as the entity has applied it in its experience and its relationships with others.
-
Before that the entity was in the Grecian land, being beautiful in body, and among those chosen to be a part of that attempting to undermine those activities in the “city in the hills and the plains.”
-
The entity was sent with those of the first group that sojourned there. Coming in contact with the brother of the leader there, the entity became as the companion, the wife; and thus came closer under those activities of Uhjltd, as well as the companion Elhasen - the brother of Uhjltd; and was a helpful force there.
-
The entity gained much; being in those activities that assisted in the hospitalizations that were brought about in the healing of many, not only those healings as taught and practised by the leader or teacher there but those that had to do with the caring for the aged, the indigent, and the mental as well as physically crippled.
-
These brought to the entity then almost a worshipfulness from many in the “city in the hills and the plains.”
-
The name then was Pegesus. This was among the greater of the experiences and activities of the entity, which may be emulated and applied in the present experience.
-
Before that the entity was in the Promised Land; for the entity journeyed with those peoples to that land; being an aide, a secretary (as would be termed today) to that group who ruled under the leader Moses and Joshua, - or the seventy elders.
-
Thus the entity made for companionships, bringing a united effort in those attempts of the various groups to unify the efforts under the leadership of those leaders in that land.
-
The name then was Esdreselda. In the experience the entity became disturbed because of those differences which arose between the children of Judah and the children of Ephraim. For, these became leading influences that eventually brought divisions. The entity attempted to keep down those activities, yet saw those dissensions arise among the seventy chosen elders.
-
Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there were those activities that made for the uniting of those differences which had arisen by the banishment of the Priest, and those rebellions among the King’s own household, as well as the Natives.
-
And then with the entering of the Atlanteans, the entity was favored with the leader of the Atlanteans, especially as an effort to establish one of the leaders to some position of power; that brought the entity’s associate almost into disrepute when there was the attempt to partially usurp the King’s authority or power. This was Ax-Tell.
-
Later the entity became a closer associate with the Priest, by the sacrifices in the Temple of Sacrifice to purge itself for a greater service, when there was brought about a united influence.
-
There, too, the entity gained in its efforts to establish the individual homes - of which there were few in that particular period.
-
The name then was It-El-Sut.
-
As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:
-
Advancements have been, as we have indicated; developments are in the experience and in the making of this entity; not only as to the manner in which it applies the universal laws, the spiritual aspects, but its dealings with those with whom it comes in contact day by day.
-
For, as given, every individual may count self fortunate who is even acquainted with the entity.
-
But there are the needs for that building again in the experience of the home ties, the loving of nature and its storehouse in the supplying of the physical and material needs, as well as in the according or keeping the attunements in those activities that may make same of a more universal nature - or in the experience of many.
-
Thus, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing and divining the words of truth; keeping self unspotted from the world or from condemnation of self or of others.
-
And that star, that cross, will arise in thy heart and mind, and bring that peace, that happiness which shineth forth unto the more perfect day in Him.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) When my office moves to Beltsville, Md., should I resign my position, take leave without pay, or transfer to another government office that will stay in Washington? (A) We would take leave - We would build the home. These - in its choices - depend much, of course, upon the efforts made by the companion. But these will work well. Ye have much to accomplish.
-
(Q) What is my purpose in this life? (A) Read that as indicated.
-
(Q) How soon should I plan to have a child? (A) By 1944. [Baby son born 11/10/44 - See 808-20 Reports.]
-
(Q) How can I help my husband [2784] toward greater happiness in his spiritual development? (A) Read that as indicated. Studying to show thyself approved, a workman not ashamed, rightly putting the stress where necessary, or rendering to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s, keeping self unspotted from condemnation; setting the example. As he saved thee, save thou him from himself in the present.
-
(Q) What particular activity would help us both spiritually? (A) Group study of ANY nature.
-
(Q) Why have I had the feeling of being so drawn to the place where I now live? (A) As ye were drawn to the activities of those about that place when ye lived in the Mohawk Valley. For it was those of thine own physical body who went there later to aid in establishing things there.
-
(Q) What was my association in Egypt with my husband, [2784] and what are the urges from this in the present? (A) Sometimes to overlook the faults too easily. Yet these are not faults; these are crosses rather in thyself at times.
As a companion, though separated then because of the differences which arose; for the entity joined with the closer activities with the Priest there.
- (Q) Where and how have I been formerly associated with my friend, [1935], to whom I am closely attracted in the present? (A) Thine own daughter in the experience just before this.
[8/4/42 Mrs. [808] wrote that her friend also wanted a Life Rdg. - see 1935-2.]
-
(Q) What was my association in Egypt with Ax-Tell, now [487]? (A) That the attempt for Ax-Tell to be put in authority or in power, in the actions that were brought in the changes there.
-
We are through for the present - There is much to be given.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/15/43 See 808-19, a Check Life Reading on her Egyptian incarnation.
R2. 8/4/42 “Our [Life] readings have given us quite a bit to think about. It is an experience I wouldn’t miss for anything and can’t understand why I didn’t have one years ago. I never get tired of talking about it and if anyone shows the slightest interest they are in for a session. I never get tired of reading them. I think [2784] is much more satisfied in his job since we’ve gotten back.”
R3. 9/12/42 She referred her friend Mrs. [1935]‘s brother, Mr. [2813], for a Life Rdg.
R4. 1/5/43 “Well, I’ve come down to earth again inasmuch as I finished the book - Ohhhhh, it was so wonderful!!! Once I started it, it was an impossibility to put it down, so I sure was glad I was home on vacation last week. It rained practically every day and I had a cold, so a perfect set-up for reading a real good book. I have been raving about it ever since - [2784] hasn’t had a chance to read it yet and he said nothing will be a surprise to him because I have told him practically everything in the book. My case is mentioned in the book - not my name, but I recognized the reference to it [See quote under 808-17 Reports]. I just howled when I read it - [2784] was taking a nap and I about scared the wits out of him. He couldn’t have imagined what happened to me. I loved the last part too, especially the description of the house, the parrot, and how you spend your time. It was so perfect and so vivid. As a matter of fact I can’t tell you any part of the book that I didn’t enjoy to the utmost. I can’t find the descriptive adjectives that would do the book justice. I haven’t read it the last time either - I don’t think I would ever get tired reading it. Tommy [Thomas Sugrue] did a wonderful job and he did the work justice - no exaggeration, no extra decorations. I’ve been telling [1935] about it, and she is dying to read her copy. She has so little time after she gets home and it makes her so mad. I will tell you what she thinks about it.”
R5. 1/27/43 “So many things have happened since I last wrote you that I don’t know where to begin. First of all our office moved from the building we were in to an old apartment house up on 18th Street, where we will stay until the building at Beltsville is completed, which should be the first part of March. I was sort of amazed to find out that I’m having a harder time convincing my superiors that I am going to resign than I thought. I don’t think I will be able to return on disability as I thought I might. I haven’t talked to [816] but I did talk to my boss and he insists that after I stay home for six months that I will feel much better and will want to come back to work. So, he asks me as a favor to him, to take six months leave without pay; then at the end of the time I can tell how I feel and if I want to come back, my place will be waiting for me. I always had the feeling that after all they have put up with me for all these years that they would be delighted to have the chance to get rid of me, but as I said much to my amazement I find that they don’t feel that way about it. I can’t understand it! They have provided a means for me to rest up here when the need arises, and as a matter of fact insist upon it. I feel like an awful nuisance, but my boss told me yesterday he felt quite the contrary. I told him that I definitely did not plan on coming back at the end of six months, and he said he would take that chance. So I have no alternative. However, it does surprise me to learn how they do feel when I felt right along that they would jump at the chance to get rid of me!!!”
R6. 3/20/43 See 2390-7, Par. 34-A in re their associations in Egypt as “worshipfulness one to the other.”
R7. 4/12/43 Mrs. [808] obtained Life Rdg. for her niece, Miss [2960].
R8. 6/15/43 She obtained Ck. Life 808-19 on her Egyptian incarnation.
R9. 5/3/44 See 808-20 in re 3rd month of pregnancy and subsequent correspondence in re birth of baby son on 11/10/44.
R10. 2/12/43 “By the way, guess what? I received my emblem from Mrs. Wolfe and I think it is beautiful. She sent me her interpretation of it and I’m enclosing a copy for you to see. Of course, it is better understood when you see the emblem, the colors in it, etc. I’m so thrilled about it and can’t wait until I have it framed. Sure want you to see it.”
R11. 2/4/43 Ltr. to [808] from Marion Wolfe:
Dear Mrs. [808]:
Thank you for sending me your emblem to carry out. It has been a very fascinating problem and may I interpret it for you as I see it?
THE ONE which is the circle, our solar system is as a huge six-pointed star when in manifestation, containing within IT ALL that exists.
Your Soul, Higher Self or Christ Consciousness is also a Six pointed star, the sun of your universe, a part of that Greater One. Emerson says all souls are one with the Over-soul.
The moon is your personality for this present life which can become “One” with the Christ Consciousness through renunciation of that moon self or personality, upon the cross, for the sake of the ONE IN OTHERS.
You, the maid, stand serene in the Spirit (Blue) and Purity (White) of that Radiant (Yellow) ONE.
You, the maid, the consummation of past lives of experience, from which have grown your powers of thought, love and will. You are indeed the Three-In-One represented by the sheaf of grain (Love - in the left hand from the heart), yourself (Intelligence in every part of you) and the sickle (Will which is held in the right hand of the God within.)
Also you, the mother nature of the One, Love; and the two shocks of wheat representing Life of the One; and Light (of Wisdom, and Understanding) of the One. Truly, the great Three-In-One.
The workers are humanity toiling to become “One”, throughout many personality lives, with the Christ Consciousness within them.
Only as we toil willingly for others in loving service can we achieve ONENESS with the
GREAT SIX POINTED STAR that IS!
Thank you again
Lovingly, Marion Wolfe [GD’s note: See lecture on Symbolism at June 1941 A.R.E. Congress by Marion (Mrs. George M.) Wolfe, of the Arcane School.]
R12. 1/4/45 Ltr. to GD from [808]:
Dearest Gladys:
I’ve been trying to pull myself together all morning so that I could drop you and Mrs. Cayce a line - I don’t know when [2784] and I have been more shocked than when we received your telegram. I just can’t seem to believe it somehow. I had never imagined us without Mr. Cayce - somehow I always felt he would be with us, and perhaps my feeling was justified and he is still with us. He has worked so terribly hard and needs this rest so much that I know he wouldn’t want us to grieve for him, but I feel so deeply for his family and that includes you because you were part of his family. Words really fail me - I just can’t express to you what I feel. I do want to thank you, Gladys, for keeping us informed as you did. You will never know what your notes and letters meant to us and we will always be grateful to you for the time and effort you spent in doing this.
R13. 4/12/45 We just this minute read the shocking news about Mrs. Cayce’s passing on Easter morn and I just had to write this letter to you before retiring for the night. It was the second time today that we were shocked - first by the news about Roosevelt and then picking up the Diary Letter and reading about Mrs. Cayce. I’m just at a loss for words for the boys and you. I had thought about her so much today
- Had a treatment from Dr. Waters and we were talking about Mrs. Cayce and how ill she was, and Dr. Waters said it seemed as though she was being drawn to the other side by Mr. Cayce. She had always been at his side helping him and he needed her there too. What a beautiful time for her to join Mr. Cayce - Easter morn. You know how deeply grieved we are for the boys and you to have this second great loss in such a short length of time, but, Gladys, I can’t help but feel sort of glowing knowing that Mr. and Mrs. Cayce are again together. He will do so much more on the other side with her at his side and she can continue helping him as she did while he was here. She probably unconsciously wanted to join him, but felt she was failing the boys by not staying here. I’m sure as time goes on and this first shock has passed that the boys too will feel consoled knowing they are together. Right now there isn’t much consolation for them - I know what it must mean to them losing their Mother and Dad within such a short length of time. Although thanks to their Dad, they are prepared with a strong weapon of knowledge in knowing that there is no such thing as “Death”. Of course the Bible teaches that but the readings have explained it so much more explicitly to us in telling us and teaching us about Reincarnation. So when and where we will meet Mr. & Mrs. Cayce again is just a matter of time, and may we make the most of that time so we can be of more assistance to him in our next life.
We both want you to know, Gladys, that as long as there is an Association, we are with you 100%. We believe in the Association and the work that it is doing and know the sacrifices you have made to see it continue. You have worked hard to keep us together and the Diary Letter in my opinion ties the knot that keeps us together. We were looking up our card record tonight of how much dues we owe from last year - Don’t faint if you get a check one of these days for it. We haven’t forgotten, you can be sure, and I know how badly the Association needs it now too. Will do our darndest to send it soon.
I want to write Hugh Lynn and Edgar Evans expressing our sympathy but can’t do it tonight because I just can’t think. I go quite steadily all day long and by night I’m so tired, my thoughts just seem to cease entirely. But somehow I just had to drop a note to you. If you write the boys in the meantime please express our sympathy and I will try to write them soon.
Nite for now, Gladys, and much love, [808]
R14. 7/7/45 Excerpt taken from correspondence:
”…If my Life Reading would help Gina and you think she might find it interesting, please let her read it. You can tell her that ‘it was followed’ and if she doesn’t believe it, we can show her the ‘proof’. A mighty adorable one too!!! And how happy we are! Of course there isn’t anything sensational about it, that is, my reading, but it is just a typical case of when the readings are followed, how complete and full your life can be. Whereas it might have been a complete waste.”
R15. 11/17/45 Ltr. to [808] from GD:
[808], dear:-
Thanks a million for your note enclosing payment on Active Membership dues. You don’t know what such support means to us. As you know, Hugh Lynn is back and we are really “going to town” now. I can feel it in my bones! It is so wonderful to have him - I’m sorry you didn’t get to see him before he left Meade. He was sorry, too, but of course he was so anxious to get back home that he didn’t want the slightest delay after being released.
It’s funny, Lydia and I had planned to come and spend this very week-end with you, but Hugh Lynn’s plans were such that he had to take this whole week-end, and then some, to try to get “caught up” on things. So we’ll make it still sometime in the future. Besides, it couldn’t have been a real benefit to the Ass’n for us to come there (just a real pleasure for me to see you all and to meet little […]), as the Study Group program is not sufficiently set up that we could have done anything. I’m sending a copy of this to [2970], so she can be familiar with the set up now. Hugh Lynn and Gina are going to start right in planning a program for Study Groups that can be worked in any locality where we have sufficient members interested. I’ll probably come with them when they come for this purpose, or maybe I’ll hop on the boat and come alone some week-end - just a “vacation”. Lydia is leaving Friday, going to New Orleans to spend Christmas with her niece and husband. She had wanted to drive me to see you, and to stop in Richmond as she had never been there. (One of the few places she hasn’t been!) She has been a wonderful companion for me, and her little car has really taken me places since the rationing has been released. I’m really getting myself adjusted, [808], and I believe everything is going to be alright. There is so much to be done, and Eddie Cayce is still with us - he hasn’t gone anywhere - it is just his body that we miss. I can shut my eyes any time and feel him right with me. I’m sure many of us can, more and more, as the sadness over his passing “through God’s other door” diminishes. We really should be glad for his sake that he isn’t burdened with all the material trials but is released to function in a larger, broader consciousness.
Hugh Lynn was thrilled to hear the story of little […]. I can’t wait to see him. If things quiet down here so I can plan a week-end, I’ll just drop you a note, phone message or wire, saying I’ll be there.
Heaps of love to you all, and thanks again.
Devotedly,
[signed] Gladys
R16. 8/7/46 Ltr. to GD from [808]:
Dear Gladys:
I have been wanting to write you for months and as a matter of fact I had promised Dr. Waters I would, but although letter-writing is one of my favorite things to do, I seldom find the time to do it in!!!!! I imagine you understand very well what I mean having the same problem yourself.
Lydia was up here shortly after I had talked to Dr. Waters and she had answered my questions to the extent that I didn’t feel it was an emergency to present it before the Board at the Congress, but after talking with Dr. Waters again yesterday, she did have an idea that I thought was very good and that I felt you would like for me to pass on to you. She had mentioned before that someone should be assigned to the task of sorting out all the readings and after getting the readings on any particular type of disease sifting it down to the most important high-lights so that it could be included in a sort of text-book that could be referred to by any doctor (and indexed, of course) without reading a whole volume of detailed material on the subject. However, the other is very important too and the detailed information could be in a separate book, or rather books, as one book probably would only take care of one type of illness. Lydia said that the latter has been under consideration and all you needed was the money to get someone to do it. Well, I had understood that too from the various D/L’s, but the other suggestion does sound like a very practical and wonderful idea to be used for reference purposes by busy doctors who could who could read the detailed information and study it, and then have the text-book for ready reference at their offices. I am going to send a copy of this letter to Dr. Waters so if I haven’t made the point clearly enough or conveyed to you all of her ideas on the subject, she will follow up with another letter when she gets back from her present trip. I know you are welcoming all helpful suggestions especially from the professionals and those who will use the material in helping their patients after proper diagnosis has been made, so didn’t want to neglect sending it on to you. I do hope Dr. Waters will forgive my delay in sending it - It wasn’t, I assure you, that I didn’t think the suggestion important but just lack of time.
I’m enclosing five dollars toward my 1946 membership - I’m gradually getting paid up and hope not to get in arrears again like I did before. We are still looking forward to your visit and hope Lydia will use her influence to get you up here. We thought sure you would be able to make it after Hugh Lynn got back, but it doesn’t seem as though the work ever lets up, does it? Do plan to come though even if you have to make it a business trip!
Bye for now and much love from us all, [808]
R17. 8/28/46 Ltr. to [808] from HLC:
Gladys gave me your letter of August 7th.
I certainly appreciate the suggestions which you gave us, as passed on to you from Dr. Waters. This whole problem of developing a plan for health service through the Association is extremely complicated and I am most anxious to proceed on the basis which will render the greatest possible service to the most people. I have written Dr. Waters today, asking her to attend a meeting in Philadelphia on September 15th. At that time, several physicians interested in the work will discuss the details of a plan for using the physical readings. I am confident that Dr. Water’s suggestions would be most helpful. If you have the opportunity to do so, please urge her to attend this meeting.
What do you think of the possibility of getting a good study group started in Washington? We have a great many people who are interested there and I would like to undertake the organization of such a group early this fall. I shall appreciate your writing me in some detail regarding your own feelings and suggestions about the organization of such a group.
My best wishes to both you and [2784].
Sincerely yours, Hugh Lynn Cayce HLC:o
R18. 11/17/46 Letter to HLC in re his recent meeting in D.C., effort to get A.R.E. Group work under way, etc:
”…Thanks a lot for the Egyptian history [294-147 thru 294-151] you sent me. I read it through very thoroughly and enjoyed it so much. The night that I read it I dreamed about your Dad for the first time since he left us and the next night had a repeat. But I couldn’t remember what my dream was! Isn’t that awful??? Also thanks for going over my reading so thoroughly with me while you were here. You do explain them so they mean so much more to an individual and as I said you bring out things that may not have even been noticed.”
R19. 11/22/49 Friend Mr. [826]‘s letter: “[2784] has had quite a relapse, and has been taken last Wed. to a hospital near Baltimore. It is a nervous breakdown, I understand, and is likely to take some time for recovery.”
R20. 3/7/50 Ltr. to [808] from GD:
Dearest [808]:-
So many loving thoughts have gone your way constantly during the last few months. I do hope you have received them and understand and forgive me for not writing before this. It doesn’t seem possible that I haven’t written you a tangible Thank You note for the sweet little telephone pad for my GLAD NICHE. It is in constant use and I think of you every time, of course, and send thoughts of healing and love to you, [2784] and little […]. Hugh Lynn said “[808] is so wonderful through it all,” and of course I knew you would be. Such a tower of strength to so many. God is working in and through everything that happens to us, so we know that “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord the law].” So many times I’ve come to realize that we each have to do and meet the hardest thing for us. My cross is greater for me, and yours for you, etc. - yet we wouldn’t want anyone else’s. It is strange and wonderful, how the law works.
We already had Mrs. [2567]‘s [your stepmother-in-law] name down for a copy of “Lichbote” and Margie had sent it before your second request came. I hope she enjoyed reading it. Do let us know if you want others sent.
Wish I could be in Washington during the next few weeks while Hugh Lynn will be there, but of course it is impossible; guess it won`t be a few weeks, either, since he has to leave for the Western Conference before the end of the month, but anyway perhaps a week he’ll be there. He went up to N.Y. to lecture before a Society last night, and is to be back here today. You’ll be hearing from him soon, I’m sure. God bless and keep you, dear [808].
All my love, [signed] Gladys P.S. I can feel EC’s love pouring down upon you, too. The strength will be yours to do whatever it is God’s will.
R21. 5/2/50 She wrote that [2784] was improving by leaps and bounds and that soon she would be able to bring him home for a visit.
R22. 5/18/50 “They have stopped treatment to see how he will react. I’m sure he will continue to improve and that he will be home soon. Isn’t it just too wonderful? …Guess what I’m doing? [826] is teaching me how to drive our car. Oh dear - Don’t ask me how I’m doing, but I am going to learn and be a good driver!”
R23. 2/7/51 “Oh, it is heavenly to have [2784] home, and he improves with each day.”
R24. 3/8/51 “[2784] is again using the Radio-Active Appliance and I do think it helps him a great deal to keep from getting over-tired.”
R25. 8/20/51 “[2784] still has some amnesia, but outside of that is fine.”
R26. 5/18/59 She wrote about their son being in military school and doing splendidly.
R27. 1/28/60 ”[…] is now Captain […]! We are so proud of him.”
R28. 5/11/65 GD’s note: Mr. [2784] was never able, apparently, to assume the responsibility of returning to a steady job. He retired on disability and Mrs. [808] worked at home to obtain extra income, by making jewelry, during the early years before her son was sent away to school. Recently she has returned to an office job and is very happy at it. She encourages Mr. [2784] to take the responsibility of doing all the marketing and household chores which he seems to enjoy. She has continued to be an active supporter of A.R.E. work and is an inspiration to all who know her.
