Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.C.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [1947], etc., and you will answer the questions she submits regarding her health, life and work.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1947]; this we have had before.
-
There are many changes that have taken place, and are taking place with this entity-body.
-
In the physical forces of the body many are on the improve, many are not so good; some have not changed a great deal.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What are the blue and white lights I see with my right eye? (A) At times these are reflections from the mental with the spiritual forces of the body. This is both a physical - or a pathological - and a psychological condition.
If there is the desire to correct this from the physical angle, have more of those treatments as suggested for the centers in the upper dorsal and through the cervical, as well as those that control the throat and those to the optic centers. These should be stimulated for a better coordination in the circulation between cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system.
This implies, then, that the specific character of treatments mechanically (osteopathically) be given. Some of those centers that enter the skull from the side, as in that area just below where the fifth nerve center enters, - merely by this being rotated, gently; not so as to bruise but as to stimulate the superficial circulation, will aid in a better condition for the eyes as well as stimulating the 3rd and 4th dorsal and the 2nd and 3rd and 4th cervical. In each of these, it should be where the segments make for their multiple activity with the cerebrospinal and superficial nerves, - those in the back of the head, which extend to that area below the ear; these, too, should be stimulated for these corrections physically.
Psychologically, - much depends upon what the entity accredits this to, and what it seeks. Know there is a way that oft seems right, but the end thereof isn’t beautiful.
-
(Q) What is the pelvic condition? (A) This is some better, but there have been some activities that have caused a pressure in the coccyx centers, as to give irritation. The treatment for this with the others for the head will aid in correcting and alleviating this heaviness and distress through the pelvis, as well as aiding in relieving those tensions that arise in a neuritic reaction to arms, under the arms, the elbows, knees at times. It is neuritic, not arthritic, but is more in the superficial. Better eliminations are needed, which have been prevented - the better evacuations or eliminations from colon - by those pressures in the coccyx center and the lower lumbars. Colonic irrigations would be most helpful in keeping better eliminations; in combination with those corrections physically.
-
(Q) Is Dr. Tucker (woman) Elizabeth H. Tucker, D.O.] in Durham alright for treating me? (A) If she will do it as indicated! If not, don’t do it!
-
(Q) Suggestions for hearing. (A) Any stimulation to the optics will also stimulate the auditory forces. These will be almost one and the same. Only extend this to that area between the 3rd and 4th cervical more for hearing, as well as around the frontal and back portion of the ear; so that the drainage from ear to the mouth - or in the Eustachian tubes - may be kept active so as to produce cleansing.
-
(Q) Teeth and gums? (A) Keep a good massage. A good stimulation for the gums would be the use of Ipana, with Ipsab as a gum massage.
-
(Q) Regarding my work: Should I write a book on Physical Developments for Adolescents? If so, when? (A) As soon as you can write it! This, as indicated, should be a channel or an outlet for the body, in its abilities towards physical education for the teen age - or those from ten to twenty, especially.
-
(Q) What company would be best to submit it to? (A) Depends upon how well it is written! Any company that deals in such. It may be published even by one of the school presses, if it is properly presented; as the Harvard Press, the Princeton Press, or the Columbia Press. For, any of these would accept such as this for a general improvement to a needed condition for educational purposes.
-
(Q) Any further suggestions on this? (A) You’ll have to commence first! Thinking of it isn’t beginning! It’s only just thinking as yet.
-
(Q) Is this what was meant by a previous reading as being a plan that would be used in a national capacity, or has that opportunity passed? (A) As just indicated.
-
(Q) Should I return next summer to the girls camp to teach this work? (A) As we find, this would be well. But this is not sure, for it appears that there are choices by self and circumstances by others that will have to do with it, or that will control. But it would be well to choose this, if it is desired by the body. Do not force self to do something unless it is creative in its nature, that is not wholly in sympathy with the purposes and ideals of the body.
Remember: Thy body, thy mind, thy soul are as individuals. They are one, but there may oft be cross-purposes (and who should know better than you!) between the ideals and what others say, and what you really think. But two must agree, even when they pray about it.
-
(Q) Should I continue teaching this physical work in the school now, or go to Colorado, due to the illness of my aunt, or go there before camp or afterwards? (A) Circumstances should govern such, and choices should be made by self. This would not be given from here. This must be according to the purpose, the ideal.
-
(Q) Why have the readings’ prediction of my marriage not materialized? (A) Because you haven’t accepted those who have asked, or who have indicated - you have prevented those from asking!
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 2/25/43 EC’s letter to [1947]:
Dear Mrs. [1947]
Thanks very much for yours of the 18th - am glad to know you feel you have found the information worth considering. Yes there are so many that find just as you say, no matter what they may have been told would have been better often times had they listened to what was suggested in their reading.
Hope you find this worthwhile, sorry was not able to get all your questions, but we did the best we could. When such things are asked it is much better could the person be present. There is a something in that presence that makes a lot of difference.
Thank you and hope you and the young ladies are fine, come in and see us when you find the chance.
With love from all to you and yours
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
R2. 7/4/43 Mrs. [1663]‘s letter: “The yellow folders [regarding your work] are reaching people. Our Dean* of … spent an evening with me after I sent him one. He will make a trip to the Beach to see you when he can arrange it. I knew he would be interested.”
R3. 7/27/43 Mrs. [1663]‘s letter: “It seems that [1947] who has been in Colorado all summer has arrived in Asheville, N.C. and there has broken down and been put in a hospital. We feel she should be in touch with you, and maybe she is, but I understand this is a nervous trouble and some suggestion of a heart ailment…
“Our Dean* of … and his wife (to whom I loaned ‘There Is A River’) are the ones who called me and asked me to write to you. They are intimate friends of [1947]‘s.”
R4. 8/1/43 Mrs. [1663]‘s letter: “Since I wrote you the other day I have had a telephone call from Mrs. [1947]. She is here in her home and doesn’t sound as if her trouble is a nervous breakdown (as was feared by her friend*). It seems to be heart trouble.”
R5. 8/10/43 (Tuesday) [1947]‘s letter to EC:
- [GD’s note: It is my understanding that the man referred to is the one she later married (Oct. or Nov. 1946, when his divorce was final). Could it be that the strain of this brewing marriage triangle precipitated her physical condition? See 1947-11.]
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I have been thinking so much about you and wishing I could contact you, but my inner feeling was that the time was not right at that time, but would be later. THAT time I feel is NOW, and I have had repeated urges to get in touch with you, now.
I have been slowly wending my way back to health again, knowing that for some reason, this experience was part of a plan in my development, - its purpose as yet unknown, but which will come to light at a later date. I know and hear you are terribly busy, - with almost more to do than you can bear. Of course on the other hand, we always must remember that we are never given more to do that is beyond our strength, although it may seem that way at times. So, I do not want to burden you further. But, because the inner feeling that I should get advice or help from you, in order to go on in the right way, let us put it this way: Whenever you are having a short reading that does not take up the full time, and so put an added strain on you, I would appreciate just this one question being asked: “WHAT IS THE CONDITION OF THE BODY AND WHAT SHOULD BE THE TREATMENT?”
The doctors say I am to rest for two months, then take things easily and not worry about anything, and I’ll live a normal life span. I mention this to assure you that you don’t have to set any particular date for asking the question, since you may not know yourself, ahead of time. But I am always home in the mornings until that rest period is over (people often take me driving in the afternoon, so I’m not sure of being home then) so I will be at … ANY MORNING unless I let you know to the contrary, and I would certainly appreciate the help if it doesn’t mean too much difficulty for you. Thank you so much, and let me know how much I owe you, - I guess it would come under a check-physical.
I realize more every day how much you have done for me and influenced my life. Since “There is a River”, the world as a whole is going to appreciate you, too. I bought a copy which I am passing around to people who should be enlightened, as fast as it will go.
I regret I couldn’t attend the congress, but I was with you in spirit. Please give lots of love to the rest of the family, Gladys included, of course, and keep lots for yourself.
Fondly and gratefully, [1947]
P.S. If a vacancy should occur, of course, then I’d like to send further questions. But from what I hear this won’t be possible for ages, and ages - hence the one question will be of immense help.
