1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1980].

3. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the best normal reaction in the physical forces of the body.

4. These as we find are hidden, in a nature, and the causes arise from an injury received some years ago, in the coccyx area, and then a contributory cause later in the area above the lumbar axis.

5. These caused a slowing of the circulation through the areas of the lacteal ducts, thus producing a COLD area there, that has produced a partial adherence of tissue.

6. With the activity of the lymph through the area, we find that periodically, when there is the lack of proper eliminations through the alimentary canal, there occurs a reflex to the coordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system area; that takes the governing of the impulse, as it were, to the brain reactions; OR a form of spasmodic reaction that might be called epileptic in its nature.

7. If this is allowed to remain, or if there are the attempts to allay by or through the applications ordinarily in such cases, we will not only continue this reaction but cause greater destructive forces in the areas along the impulses to the sympathetic and cerebrospinal centers in lumbar and coccyx area; thus increasing and making more severe the attacks that occur from this deflection of impulse.

8. As we find, this may be materially aided if there will be first the breaking up of this tendency for the lesions in the area indicated, - by the application of hot Castor Oil Packs. This would be done persistently and consistently for at least two hours each day for a period of three to five days. Use at least three thicknesses of heavy flannel, - having the flannel as hot with the Castor Oil as can be handled, or squeezed or wrung with the Castor Oil in same; then applying an electric pad, after sufficient padding to prevent the short circuiting or destroying efficiency of the electric pad on same.

9. Then have a manipulative application in the form of neuropathic adjustments to the areas about the coccyx and the sacral and the lumbar axis, and especially in the 1st and 2nd lumbar; gently massaging the area about the lower portion of the liver and the lacteal ducts in the right side.

10. In the diets beware of too much starches or too much of sweets. The sweets that are taken should only be of honey or the fruit sweets, or the like. Plenty of raw, fresh vegetables each day for the body. No white bread nor white potatoes should be taken.

11. At least ten of such adjustments neuropathically should be made.

12. Do these, and if it becomes necessary - to relieve the tensions - repeat the Castor Oil Packs after a week.

13. It is well that high enemas be given after the series of Castor Oil Packs, - not one each day, but AFTER the three to five days of the Packs, see? to remove the disturbing forces through the colon area.

14. Thus we will bring the better physical forces for this body, [1980].

15. Let the mental attitudes of the body be constructive, - that is, of a spiritual import, - purposeful in its activities.

16. Ready for questions.

17. (Q) Is there any neuropath in New York you would recommend? (A) Any neuropath that knows how to make the adjustments in the coccyx and sacral and lacteal ducts, should be efficient.

Such as Taylor, or as one on Long Island near the entity - Fremont.

18. (Q) What was the nature of the original accident? (A) Striking the end of the spine - on bannister.

19. (Q) Any other suggestions for the body? (A) Do these, if we would rid the condition from this body.

R1. 9/7/39 Aunt’s letter to HLC:

“Thank you so much for your letter of August 29th. “I saw my nephew [1980] today for the first time since your father’s reading. We can never thank him enough for what he has done. [1980] is following instructions carefully and seems better already. You sent him to a doctor in East Orange, but as he had not the money for car fare for continual trips, that doctor recommended one nearer his home on Long Island. That is the only change that has been made.

“The doctor on Long Island (I do not know his name) apparently had never heard of your father. He would not believe the story at all. He told [1980] he would be willing to examine him and treat him for what he found, if anything. And lo and behold he found exactly the condition your father had described. However he still believed that doctors had examined [1980] and found the trouble. I do not know that even now he is convinced that the boy was advised through an absent reading. However he is giving the proper treatment.

“The unfortunate thing that [1980] did was to go back to his former employer and tell him the whole story. The hard-boiled commercial man would not believe it and has not as yet let him come back to work. If you can advise me of any way of convincing the employer that the fainting spells will not re-occur, I would greatly appreciate it.

“Since I had already sent a check for 10.00 I am now enclosing a second one for the same sum, making the total of 20.00. It is worth every cent and I wish I were in a position to donate to the cause.

“As I would like the literature sent to me, I have made out the slip that way, tho it may be that for your files you would prefer to have it in [1980]‘s name. If what I have done is incorrect I shall be glad to make out another at your instruction. With believing gratitude for your sincere work.”

R2. 9/14/39 HLC’s letter to [1980]‘s aunt:

“We are very glad to know that the reading for your nephew, [1980] proved to be accurate and helpful. As I wrote you before, I do hope that you will insist that he follow the treatments very, very carefully.

“Thank you for the membership blank and the check covering the balance of the membership. You will be placed on our membership list and will receive regularly the publications of the Association.

“Under separate cover I am mailing you some pamphlets which we will be glad to have you send to your friends.

“Please keep us advised of the developments in this case, and let us know if we may be of any further assistance.”

R3. 3/11/40 [1980]‘s aunt’s letter to EC:

“When you come to New York the end of this month will you please save a little time for my nephew, [1980]?

“You diagnosed his case last August, and while we were all very much encouraged there, he still seems to be fainting and is not - strong enough yet to even look for work. I have asked him to keep in touch with you but as far as I know he has not done so. I think if he were to meet you and understand your work better, he would lose this hesitancy.

“If there is to be any public meeting I would like to be informed about it, as many of my friends are interested in your work.”

“Can you do anything more for my nephew, [1980]?

“He has those ‘spells’ more often than before, about every 28 days but the duration is not so long. After being out of work for many months he finally got a nice job but has lost that. His employers all praise him and his work and will take him back when he gets well, but feel they cannot worry about what might happen. He would like to enlist in the Navy but the doctor tells him they won’t take him.

“Thank you for anything you can do.”

R6. 10/14/40 Mother’s letter to EC:

“Due to holidays this … office was closed all day Saturday and Miss […]‘s letter was not received until 10 A.M. Oct. 14th.

“[1980] is receiving calcium injections every second Thursday and under Doctor’s orders is taking four dilantin capsules daily; - there seems to be a bowel obstruction of some kind. He still falls in convulsions. On Friday Oct 9th twice without any warning.

“These occurred at 12:10 noon and 5:50 P.M.; the first time in his case that the difficulty has appeared after twelve noon.

“Question - Should he be encouraged to work? Is diet right? Are glands infected? Is there any mental or spiritual upset aggravating this difficulty! Is any change in treatment suggested?

“He will be at home in his own room, … from 2:30 to 5 P.M. Oct. 15th. We are praying this will reach you in time.”

“Can you help this boy?

“[1980] - Born 7:20 A.M. Sept. 10, 1920, at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y.

“He now lives at … He was graduated from High School in June 1938 and got his first job in Dec., 1938 with the United States Rubber Co. He has fainting spells or convulsions and was told in June that the company could not be responsible for him tho they liked him and would give him back his job any time he could guarantee not to have any more seizures.

“He has been to several doctors including Dr. Tasker Howard, 46 Sidney Pl., Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr. Orman C. Perkins, 829 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Dr. Rubenstein, Medical Center, N.Y.

“None of these men can find any thing wrong. I forgot to add that other doctors had been called in at the time of the faints. I do not know who these men are.

“The dates of his spells for 1938 are Jan. 3, Jan. 31, June 4, Nov. 4, - In 1939 Mar. 2, June 14, July 3.

“He is fine, religious and sensitive. The only thing I can think of to tell you about his home life is that his mother was considered quite brilliant mentally and as so often happens was in consequence a poor house keeper, and I believe the untidiness plus poverty have crushed something fine in this boy. He has one older sister and one younger brother both normal.

“Please advise me.”
