GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2011].
-
As we find, in many respects conditions are very good, in the physical sense. However, there are tendencies that might be corrected in the present, which would allay and correct conditions that may cause a greater disturbance and produce conditions harder to be dealt with later on.
-
These are conditions as we find them with this body:
-
In some times back the body suffered a condition where temperature was high in the body, especially as related to the functioning of the glandular forces as related to their activity upon the sensory forces of the body.
-
Thus we have a condition where pressures disturb or prevent proper circulation, causing those disturbances in the body-functioning; as indicated by the touches at times of neuritic reactions to elbow, wrist, and even to portions of the shoulder blades. Also these deflections cause an impoverishment in some respects and an abundance in other respects to the scalp circulation.
-
These also affect the feet and the limbs at times, causing them to tire and at times to give disturbance with the respiratory reaction.
-
At times these conditions also with congestion affect the body as related to the Periods, and the glands of the mammary forces, especially in the left side.
-
As we find, in making administrations for this body:
-
We should have a short series of very thorough, deep osteopathic corrections; directed principally to those areas from the 6th and 7th dorsal to the 1st cervicals. These we would have at least twice a week until six or eight treatments are taken. Make corrections after the third treatment, not during the first two, but prepare the body to be able to make them, especially in those areas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, and throughout the cervical area.
-
After the first six treatments, have only one every ten days, until at least six more are taken.
-
We would each evening for two to three days before the shampoo is to be given, apply Pure Hog Lard to that area in the top of the head.
-
Then each week have this, either one or two days or evenings in succession - two days when convenient. Allow it to remain on overnight. Then the next morning shampoo with Special Drene with Hair Conditioner added.
-
Massage the area with the Pure Hog Lard, you see, not the compound lard, not other oils but the pure hog lard. Not too much, but enough to irritate - or to massage well in the scalp, just in that area. Then the next morning have the shampoo with the Special Drene, as indicated. Do this each week.
-
Keep this up until there is shown better growth of hair.
-
After the sixth osteopathic treatment (not before) begin with small doses of Atomidine; two drops in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken. Take for five days, leave off for ten days. Then take for five days more, and leave off for ten, - and so on until the end of the treatments osteopathically.
-
Then mind the diet.
-
Take plenty of citrus fruit juices. With orange juice put lemons. With the grapefruit juice put lime. These will act with the Atomidine upon the thyroid glands, as well as for the stimulation and correction of the circulation through the scalp.
-
And when the osteopathic treatments are given, the scalp circulation should also be stimulated; especially that portion of the scalp behind the ear and over and in the frontal portion of the ear, and up to the head.
-
Each week keep up the shampoo, with that property added for conditioning the hair.
-
This will correct these conditions and save the body a great deal of trouble later with disturbances gradually arising through the colon area.
-
Keep the eliminations; using the senna tea as an eliminant. During the whole period the adjustments are made, this should be taken; not daily, but several times a week - until there are the adjustments and corrections such as to aid in better eliminations.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is causing the knot on the inside of my right wrist? (A) This is a broken cell. But if there are the corrections made, and this is massaged occasionally with Castor Oil - with these corrections this should disappear.
-
(Q) What is cause of my frequent headaches? (A) Disturbed circulation and the pressures in those areas indicated in cerebrospinal system.
-
(Q) How can I keep my hair from turning gray? (A) The citrus fruit juices and the regular weekly use of the juice from the Irish potato peel. Peel the potato and make a soup of the peelings, see. Take this weekly. This, with the character of the dressing for the hair, should correct this condition.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/2/43 [2011]‘s letter to EC: “I rec’d my rdg. yesterday, & your letter today.
“I think the rdg. is wonderful, and I KNOW it is right. It just explains everything very clearly.
“I have thought for some time that I had a nerve pressure on my spine as I know I have a curvature. I have had trouble with my back for years, and so much headache & I never thought a doctor could find the trouble and as I don’t like ill health and as I don’t like bothering about doctors, I have just let them alone, and tried to take care of my self as best I could. I have really taken good care of myself or I would not look as well as I do today.
“Several yrs. ago when I was loosing my hair I was forced to go to a doctor and found that I was deficient in thyroid secretion - you see you mentioned thyroid in the rdg., and it is just right. You have diagnosed all my symptoms correctly.
“I am so thrilled over having found a solution for my health problems, and about the treatment for my hair.
“I am going to Dr. Miller [Robert H. Miller, D.O.] the best osteopath in town (the one mother [2589] went to) & have him start treatments next week - will also carry out hair treatments. Will keep a record of all I do and let you know how I get along. Don’t be anxious about it - you see I have perfect faith in your ability. I knew you could diagnose my case, & no one else could.
“Find check enclosed for the reading.
“I found this clipping about the book in the Sunday paper in the Society news section. If book reviews came out in papers let me know. I want to see them. I am certainly going to talk the book up. Sorry you all have been ill. Maybe I could help you all, as I am quite good on vitamin values & health problems - I know the book will be successful. Please take care of yourself & I will follow the reading exactly.”
Lots of love, [2011]
R2. 3/11/43 [2011]‘s letter to EC: “Enjoyed your letter of March 4th.
“Want to make a report on how I am doing. Dr. Miller found the trouble in just the areas you described, and gave me a treatment Tues. as you directed. My back has not been sore from the tr., but I have been very tired the past two days - possibly a reaction from the tr. I am to go again tomorrow. We talked quite a bit about you and he says he wants to meet you. He thinks your work very remarkable. I have been taking more fruit juice then usual as you prescribed citrus fruits for my hair and also gland condition. I took the soup Monday from the potato peel to keep my hair from turning gray (as it has begun already), and it is some dose, very strong, and must have some very valuable mineral that my system needs but I don’t mind at all.
“Will tell you how I get along from time to time.
“Glad you all are feeling much better. Do take care of yourself.
“I haven’t seen any reviews of the book as yet, but I’m watching for them - Please tell me, have you heard any? […] [Niece] is to have a brother very soon now about the 20th - predict it will be a boy. I predicted [Niece] would be a girl, so will have to see how good I am. There will be 22 mos. difference in their ages, and they will be very cute together. I suppose your baby is growing fine.
“To go back to myself I forgot to tell you that the lump on my wrist has about disappeared. It seems to come and go. I massaged it with castor oil just one night too.
“Mother [2589] is fairly well. She still has a right high blood pressure and has to rest a lot and has not been able to take any osteopathic treatments as they make her so dizzy. Hope I can see you this summer. I certainly want to.”
R3. 3/13/43 EC’s letter to [2011]: “Thanks for yours of the 11th
- you know sometimes when sit down to write you, want to call you all the sweet names I know - have often wondered why I feel like that about you, know I don’t to every good looking lady I meet or know. Glad you are getting on all O.K. was most anxious to know if the Dr. would find the trouble just where was indicated - while it is practically always like that, always wish to be sure, yes suspect the first three tr. will upset you a bit, then you should commence feeling better so do keep them up everything suggested sufficient to get yourself in better shape - think will save yourself a lot of trouble later.
“Yes would like very much to meet and talk with the Dr. - hope to some time in not too distant future.
“Today there is a young lady coming from Roanoke to join her husband who is stationed somewhere here about, they are to have room here at the house. Just wish it was you coming and the rest of it if suited you.
“No the potato peel soup isn’t so good but think it is excellent for you so hope you don’t get soured on same.
“Yes all up and going now hope we will keep well - for seem gradually to be getting busier and busier. If you run across any reviews send them along if you will, have they the book for sale at your local book store?
“So […] is to have a - brother is it - will be interesting to see if you are right. She must be cure [cute?] now, wish you could see our baby now - he is as cute as he can be - but you know how the proud grand-pop can be about the 1st Grandson, my but he is all boy, even for five months rough and roudy, and must be noticed. Just spoiled I guess - but that is what they are for isn’t it unless one allows it to go to excess.
“Good - hope the lump doesn’t come back anymore, but the oil rub is excellent for anything of that kind, but if you get the glands to working better such things won’t happen.
“Might be hard on her for a time or two, but if carefully done the enemas would help your Mother [2589] to get her blood pressure back to normal more than anything save diet and rest.
“Yes, you must be sure and come to the Beach this summer believe the Beach is good for you, and know it is wonderful to have you here. Thanks again for everything, just hope you keep feeling better and better until you are your own good self again.”
With lots of love, EC
R4. 3/16/43 [2011]‘s letter to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce:
“I did enjoy your sweet letter and to know that you are fond of me.
“It pleases me very much that such a fine person as you should like me.
“Enclosed find a list of addresses that I think may really prove helpful. They are people who review books. One is the city librarian. Another is a very fine poet in …, whom I think might appreciate the book very much. Also the Dr. address is my Dr. Miller the osteopath I go to now. He wants to see you some day & he is an understanding person, and would appreciate the book. You see I have not given you addresses that would be no benefit to you. As the Bible says, ‘Do not throw your pearls before swine.’
“I haven’t had time as yet to inquire if the book stores or the library have the book, but I will do so this week.
“How is the book coming and what are the reviews?
“Today I had my third tr. & he made the adjustments as you prescribed. I have been very tired. Hope I am going to feel better now. Dr. Miller said the adjustments were made so easily - & how did you know the body would be ready for adjustments after the 2nd treatment? He thinks you are quite remarkable.
“I have done everything you said to do except one thing. That is the drene shampoo. I am kind of dubious about that. Please don’t be angry with me for telling you this but I’m very puzzled about it. You see when I told the girl that does my hair I was going to have her use the Drene shampoo with hair conditioner added - she said she would use it but that it would ruin my hair - that none of the beauty parlors approved of it & they would not guarantee a permanent wave on anyone who used it. I thought she was prejudiced - so I inquired around - I talked to a girl who used to work in a beauty parlor & she said the same thing. Talked to a friend of mine who had used it & she said it almost ruined her hair. They say it takes all the life out of the hair. Now, I don’t say I believe this - as it dries out the scalp perhaps it would be good for the oil in my hair. I have used the hog lard, I don’t doubt your word, but it is peculiar isn’t it?”
R5. 3/18/43 EC’s letter to [2011]: “Here I am to bother you again, but have so much to thank you for hope won’t be too much of a bother, maybe is a good thing you are not here too else might be telling you how much thought of you, while realize I’m getting up in years, but feel much younger - but there is no fool so bad as an old fool is there, - anyway have always believe if you liked people and thought a lot of them should tell them so anyway, and do think you one of the loveliest young ladies have every known, so thank you.
“Thanks a lot for the addresses - will get some data and the book to them soon as can, this is being printed by publishers now, appreciate your interest and help.
“Oh the reviews are very fierce some of them - some are nice, at least they did not ignore it, would have been bad if they had, understand in the East the book is going well, haven’t heard from the West as yet.
“Yes - now after a day or so you should show lots of improvement, often have Dr.’s to say the same things, after they know the work well they expect it to happen as suggested, and usually does.
“Well please know am not trying to advertise Drene shampoo for know nothing about it and you use your own judgment, but some people would not dare do other than just as suggested, might be the very thing for you, do not know for myself I use fitch and like it and suppose it is why have any hair at all, but don’t remember ever suggesting it for but one other person, and then told them to use the oils and not the shampoo.
“Thanks for the names sent again - Oh yes the baby is cute wish you could see him now - it amuses me to watch him look people over now when they come round can almost see his mind working, if he don’t like them he will draw away, but if he likes them or sees what ever he is looking for he has the most heavenly smile you nearly ever saw.
“Will be looking for you the first chance you get to come to the Beach. Don’t know what the young ladies name was before she married, the one here but she is a Mrs. Poff, she worked in a Bank there. Her husband is a nice looking young fellow, Mrs. C. likes them especially, very nice to have about as just see them coming in and out about once, twice a day.
“Thanks too for the Birthday greeting guess am about the luckiest man ever have so many friends that remember the day, certainly sweet of each of them and sure do appreciate it.
“Haven’t decided about the Congress as yet, guess will try and have it as have to have a meeting of the Board, and we have that during the Congress but if H. L. has to leave, don’t know how it will be.
“Please write again soon, thanks again for everything.”
R6. 4/3/43 [2011]‘s letter to EC: “I do want to say that I am feeling better although I did have some headache this past week. I finished my 6th treatment last Sat. week ago today. Dr. Miller has had some trouble getting the atomidine. The store where he tried to get it, didn’t have it, but told him they could get it. They tried every store & place in town, & couldn’t get it, then they ordered it from out of town, and it has been ordered for over a week & as yet has not come because, Dr. Miller promised to call me the minute it came. He is very conscientious about everything.
“Now, the rdg. said to start taking it after the sixth treatment and I haven’t had it all week. I hope it won’t do any harm I am supposed to take another treatment about next Tuesday. Don’t know how much longer I am going to have to wait for the atomidine. I have used the Drene Shampoo twice & like it.
“The new baby is just fine - […] is crazy about him.
“Yes I can tell lots of things. I have predicted lots of other babys. One time I told a girl, that if she ever had another child it would be a girl & have loads of brown curly hair. It all came true, she has a girl baby now & it has loads of curly brown hair. I just get the impression of these things.
“But when I try to look into my own future, I can’t tell a thing. I just seem to go around in circles and always come back to the same place I started from. I can’t help but feel I am continually getting nowhere. Now I am not going to bother you with this kind of talk. But you must know what a dear friend you really are, and how much I depend on you & how much you have meant to me & how much you have done to help me. I know you think of me sometimes and I often feel your thoughts. I think about you too. Mother [2589] is much better. Everyone says she looks better - now if I can just get her to take some osteopath treatments.
“I haven’t seen any reviews about the book and the stores here don’t have it as yet. …, is a very slow and backward place to grasp anything new or anything very deep. People here don’t understand or know the things that we members of the association do. How is the book coming?
“I believe it will be very popular in Calif. and west coast also in Fla. & in the north. People in those sections know how to think and understand more than they do in other sections of the country.”
Lots of love, [2011]
R7. 4/7/43 EC’s letter to [2011]:
Dear Miss [2011]:
“How are you this beautiful cool spring morning, fine I hope, glad to have yours of the 3rd and am so glad you are feeling better, that is best of all. If you have further trouble getting the Atomidine will send it to you from the local drug store, they have it for sale here at the Beach and at Burrow Martin Drug Store in Norfolk am sure.
“Glad you like the Drene, have never known the information to suggest something as was harmful to one at any time, whether for hair, or what tho it may not agree with some others, and often says it wouldn’t. Hope you find it works for you - and that is what counts the most isn’t it?
“Am sure the new baby is fine - well have suspected all along that you were a ‘Seeress’ now I know it, am sure that is why we have been attracted to each other so, yes - you know for you more than most any one I know, you suddenly come into my mind at times, with me wanting to call you all the sweet names in my vocabulary, wonder why, anyway think a whole lot of you, more than most can tell you that. Many you know can help others and can’t help themselves - you know the Romans even accused Jesus of that, but they only saw the material things and what HE was doing was so much better - for in helping others did the most for Himself, and so it is with us, the help we give for others brings the most help spiritually to ourselves, and the use of our spiritual powers for good brings material aid, while attempted only material will fail completely.
“Bother me - had rather be bothered by you than anyone I know, so don’t think you ever bother me, or if you do feel it is a bother know am one who loves to be bothered by you, so isn’t a bother to me.
“Glad your Mother is better too - that is fine remember me to her with love there will be a review soon in the Christian Century should you see that give it to your local paper to reprint that will help a lot. Will possibly be in the next issue - the lady who was to write it was here last week. She spent several years as missionary in China. We all liked her very much - has such a funny name Mrs. Bro [Margueritte H. Bro] the name is Norwegian [Swedish?] I believe, but sounds like Chinese.
“Book is fine, I guess understand it is in its 3rd printing in the 1st month, rather an unusual thing am told, the publishers are very well pleased so far haven’t heard from Calif. much mostly round Boston and down east that tho is where the reading said it would be first - then much later from west coast.
“Thanks again, let me hear when you can. With lots of love and all the sweet things you can think.” Edgar Cayce
R8. 4/13/43 [2011]‘s letter to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce:
“I got the atomidine last Tues. and have taken it the five days as on the directions in the rdg. - am following the directions as you suggested. I really feel grand. I feel better every day. I can do a hard days work and not even feel tired.
“Dr. Miller says he is sold on you. He thinks you are remarkable. I told him he would get a pamphlet about your book, and that I wanted him to get it. He seemed very much interested. He says he would like to meet you.
“I will try and get a copy of the Christian Century. I don’t think they are sold at the news stands. I want very much to see that book review. I almost think sometimes I would be tempted to write one myself. I will see if the paper will not print the review in the century.
“I do think that the literature that can be mailed out about the book will help a lot. I think as soon as you can use those addresses I sent you it will help very much to create an interest. I do think the book is doing fine to be in its 3rd printing. Tell me what did the reading say about the book, and what did it say about you in connection with the book?
“The baby is getting along fine. […] is cuter than ever.
“Where is your son Edgar Evans now? Haven’t heard about him for some time? I did enjoy that sweet letter of yours. So nice of you to think all those nice things about me. I do appreciate it, & especially coming from you. I believe you understand me more than most people do. Write again soon - Mother sends her love, and so do I.” Love [2011]
R9. 4/16/43 EC’s letter to [2011]:
My Dear Miss [2011]:
“Good to have yours of the 13th. So glad you are feeling much better, am sure you then are prettier and sweeter than ever for no one looks or feels their best when they just don’t feel good physically.
“Thank Dr. Miller for me, tell him there are quite a number of others through the country, that possibly feel the same, but it is no credit to me, for know of myself can do nothing, just hope to use whatever Grace the Lord has given me to be a witness for the Christ.
“Haven’t received the notices of the book as yet - they have sold out the 1st printing so I understand but they will have plenty more soon.
“That would be lovely for you to get your local paper to print the article or review from the Christian Century, for most any paper would be glad to print something from that paper if it called to their attention, don’t know just what issue it will be in, but will let you know if you will do that for me.
“The Editor of one of the Astrology Magazines sent me a copy of what they are printing next month. It is - The Astrology Guide - and is the July and August issue, you can get that from your news stand, and isn’t bad you will want to read that, takes some angles haven’t seen in any other one.
“Yes, the literature will be mailed pretty soon - but if it increases my mail any more you will have to come hold my head up for me to be able to write and answer the letters even.
“Well practically just what has happened is what the rdg. said - but few if anyone felt as optimistic as the rdg. seemed to put it - but as the Publ. says it has passed all their expectations.
“Edgar Evans is somewhere overseas - has arrived alright - Hugh Lynn is at Meade - that is why have so much on me now, but may be yelling for help then you better come a running. Will you and your Mother get to the Congress this year? Will be the 17-18-19 and 20 of June. Come if you possibly can.
“Glad you like my letter - never could tell you how much I think of you [2011] but just know that I do, all the nice things you can think of that you wish to be you are all of those and more.
“Remember me to your Mother glad she is feeling better, write again soon.”
With love, Edgar Cayce
