This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of October, 1940, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. [1005], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, improvements have been rather phenomenal; in that there is the clearing of those disturbing conditions from without.

4. But, as those warnings have been indicated, because of the poisons that are the natural effect of the burns, or the high forces of nature attempting to meet these, there is caused some temperature.

5. This should not cause any general alarm, though should necessitate real precautions being taken.

6. We would first begin with small, broken doses of Castoria, six to eight to ten drops every fifteen minutes until there is a full flushing. Take it in the small doses, every fifteen to twenty minutes, but sufficiently long enough so that there is a GOOD reaction from it, see? This amount should be sufficient at a dose if it is given every fifteen minutes.

7. Then the next day (when there has been the flushing, you see), give Calomel again - this is necessary; but under the direction of the physician, - don’t give it self. This with the Dover’s powders is preferable.

8. Also in the first, to reduce temperature, we would massage gently along the spine (with the hand) with a grain alcohol solution; this not full strength, of course, but about two parts water to one part alcohol; a teaspoonful of alcohol to - two teaspoonsful of water. Do this about twice a day.

9. And these as we find should bring about bettered conditions.

10. Keep up those applications for the burn or scald, you see.

11. (Q) What causes swelling in hands and feet? (A) The lack of eliminations. Thus the excess pressures upon kidneys and liver, causing the temperature. Hence the two manners as indicated in which eliminations are to be set up.

12. (Q) Please give specific diet during this period. (A) This should be of the general nature, rather than making any specific change. All the diet, of course, should be body-building, but not too rich in fats.

13. We are through for the present.

R1. 10/23/40 EC’s letter to [1005] & [23]:

Dear [1005] and [23]:

Have thought many many times about you two since the baby got burned, some how feel one who has experienced a thing of the kind know better how to appreciate the feelings of such. And we certainly had the experience as few, as both the boys were badly burned as you know. Have been very anxious about [2015], for know just what a job it is to take care of such conditions, do hope the suggestions this morning will help. Had just had time to read your letter, [1005], when the wire came. Do hope the set back is nothing serious, and that she will be her normal good self again. It is fine that there are no scars on her little face but the readings always insist there is so much poison from a burn that the system has a time taking care of the situation and there is needs be a good bit more eliminations than usual. Trust the suggestions this morning will do the trick - and all clear signal will soon be coming up.

Yes sir - know just what it means - every one is ready to blame themselves but is just one of those things that seems to happen - was the same with H. L. and E. E. might have easily been avoided - but how don’t know.

All are able to be up here - nothing new but a lot of work and worry - of a different nature than from the readings.
