GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: (In trying to locate the body - ” - Yes - nice big tree - ”)
-
Yes, we have the body here, [2039].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the best normal physical reaction. These as we find are rather of a complicated nature, and at times one reaction has worked against some other disturbing influence. Consequently, these as we find may be best considered as a whole.
-
Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2039] we are speaking of:
-
The blood supply indicates a toxic condition through the intestinal system. Also it indicates the lack of the vitality that is necessary for replenishing as well as building resistances.
-
Hence we find a form of anemia.
-
Thus we have a continued strain through the system, by the lack of proper assimilation of foods, as well as the conditions of the organs that have been and are still under the strain in their functioning, from lack of supply of energies to the system.
-
In the nerve system, - here we find both causes and effects in the system; as the tautness in the areas along the cerebrospinal system, between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal, - specifically in the secondary cardiac plexus area, as well as in the lumbar and the lower portion of the 9th dorsal plexus. These as we find become contributory causes, and - because of the overtaxation to the digestive forces - produce, through the lymph and the activities through the system, strains in such a way that there tends to be at times the direct hemorrhage from the intestinal tract itself.
-
Hence the involvement of the nervous system, as indicated, as well as it producing a portion of the disturbing influence.
-
In the functioning of the organs, - while we find impulses or reflexes are very near to normal, these are weakened by the general debilitation and the tendency for the body to lose weight, and the lack of the building forces through the body. Yet the abilities for reactions are very good.
-
In the throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx, - from the general strain, inflammation of the mucous membranes at times, or throat, the soft tissue in the face and head, cause a great deal of disturbance, owing to the lack of proper elimination (from the toxic forces) as well as the lack of the ability for the system, through the disturbed pressures in the areas indicated, to supply the nerve energies to those portions of the system.
-
These usually form themselves in a condition that may be called a kind of congestion, or a neurotic or neuritic reaction; though it occurs in rather the soft tissue.
-
The heart’s activity, - while the pressures in same are only irregular at times, there is quite an unbalanced metabolism, owing to the form or nature of the toxic forces as well as the depleted general condition throughout the system.
-
In the digestive system, as related to the activities of the juices, or the lacteals and the balance in the acid forces, as well as the activity of the liver, the gall duct as related to same, may be said to be the basis of the trouble. And here we find that those indiscretions on the part of the body in times back HAVE been the causes of some of these. For the congestions through the liver, the tendency for there to be areas in which there is poor circulation, tend to make for these characters of disturbance, - and first brought about much of this disturbance through the alimentary canal.
-
At times there have been lacerations, at others the tendencies for thickening or heavy spots through the stomach, - especially in the duodenum area, - a great deal of disturbance with gas, as well as the lack of proper eliminations; sometimes forming a tendency for the strain to be brought on too easily, and at others the lack of proper activity or evacuation of the alimentary canal.
-
These as we find are disturbances, and the effects of same which still exist throughout the system.
-
In the activities pertaining to the coordination between the liver and the kidneys, - this, too, at times has caused and does cause a great deal of disturbance; owing to the poor assimilations through the activities of the body.
-
As we find, in bringing about those things that may help or aid in bringing better conditions for this body, it will take PERSISTENCE and patience, AND the correct diet; though this may at times appear to be rather severe upon the body, and the refraining from any of alcoholic drinks of any nature, - save at times, in the late afternoon (three or four or five o’clock), the red wine may be taken if it is taken as a food; that is, as sort of a booster in the late afternoon, with only about an ounce and a half to two ounces taken with ONLY a small slice of brown or pumpernickel bread with same.
-
But to begin with:
-
We would first begin with a GENERAL application of the hydrotherapy treatments. Not that there would be so much of the sweats as to cause weakness, - only sufficient to produce a respiratory or perspiratory reaction, see? Then the thorough rubdown. This is to remove, or aid in removing poisons from the superficial circulation.
-
And twice each week, following such a hydrotherapy treatment and thorough rubdown, we would have the general treatment and corrections, making specific adjustments, OSTEOPATHICALLY, in those areas as we have indicated, - to relieve the tension and the pressures, see?
-
Occasionally, when there is the tendency for a fullness or gas forming, have a high colonic irrigation at the time the hydrotherapy treatments are given, - to remove these accumulations from the system. These should be continued occasionally, so long as there is an indication of phlegm or mucous from the colon and the intestinal system.
-
After each meal, for at least a week to ten days, take a small quantity (a quarter to half a teaspoonful) of ALCAROID as a digestant.
-
In the foods, - take plenty of beef juice; not the beef itself, but beef juice, without any fats in same. This should NOT be taken in large quantities at a time; but when and where it is convenient, take often, - two to three sips of same several times each day, see?
-
Also have fish, fowl, and especially liver two or three times a week as a portion of the diet.
-
Never any fried foods at all!
-
Once each week take the Jerusalem artichoke as a part of the diet, to supply insulin for the better activity of the pancreas and the liver and the general circulation in the eliminating of sugars and poisons and sediments from the activity of the liver, as combined with the kidneys.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Where best for me to take the treatments? (A) In any good hydrotherapy place where they will cooperate with the suggestions here given, and are able to make the adjustments indicated.
-
(Q) Name proper doctor to give this treatment? (A) As indicated, any of those that will follow these suggestions.
-
(Q) What exercise is best? (A) Not too strenuous an exercise, but that of walking is the better, - and in the open.
Take plenty of rest, as well as sufficient activity to keep the general system active.
-
(Q) What was the original cause of my condition? (A) Overindulgences.
-
(Q) Can I be restored to normal health? (A) Almost entirely to perfect health, if there will be the consistent and persistent application of those things suggested; as to the foods as well as treatments and suggestion indicated, or that may be indicated.
-
(Q) When will I begin to see the first results of my treatment? (A) Just as soon as there is the body and mind coordinating and cooperating in doing these.
Do this, as has been outlined.
- We are through for the present.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Judge:
I have received a very nice letter from my good friend Judge Francis Borrelli of Chicago. I also have your letter reference to his request. The man that Judge Borrelli wants to help is a very important citizen in Chicago. When the Reading is given send the bill for the membership to the Judge’s friend. He understands that the only cost will be the membership cost of $20.00. I have asked Judge Borrelli to get the signature of his friend if possible and his home address on the application, which Judge Borrelli will do. When the time is set, inform Judge Borrelli so he can arrange to have his friend at his home when the physical reading is given. I would suggest your sending the Reading to Judge Borrelli so he can read it with his friend who has been very ill for a long time. I would suggest the following questions based on what Judge Borrelli has told me:
1: - What started these conditions 2: - What caused them 3: - What will cure the body 4: - How long will it take 5: - Where best for the body to live while treatment is given 6: - Is present treatment completely satisfactory 7: - How long will it take the body to recover his normal health
With kindest regards to you and the family,
Sincerely, [257]
