This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of December, 1939, in accordance with request made by the wife, Mrs. [1833], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Mrs. [1602].

Neurological Time of Reading Hosp., Room 711, 12:00 to 12:15 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. 168th St. & Ft. Washington Ave., New York City.

1. GC: You will give a detailed diagnosis of the conditions you find in this body at this time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, and suggestions for help and relief for this body. You will answer the questions that have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [2046]; this we have had before.

3. We find that conditions have changed somewhat from that formerly indicated, or when we had this before.

4. There have been further indications of the leakage of the arterial circulation, causing greater distress to the activities of the body.

5. This has produced the conditions affecting the reaction more of the nerve system; as well as the nominal reaction to the general nerve forces of the digestive system, or that which has caused the condition through the stomach, - the conditions of contraction.

6. All of these, as we find, - as was indicated from the first, - are from the lack of sufficient coagulation in the blood stream to prevent the breaking of tissue through the walls of the circulation.

7. And if there had been the CLOSER adherence to those suggestions as indicated, we might have bad a more normal and a better reaction.

8. As for those activities in the present of the body, - we find that the better would be the administering of those influences in the circulation to cause better coagulation through the arterial circulation.

9. Unless this is properly adjusted, to be sure, there may be expected to be caused more temperature, more irregularity of the heart’s activity.

10. But those injections that would cause the better coagulation through the circulatory forces, as we find, offer the better hope for bettered conditions.

11. Ready for questions.

12. (Q) What is condition of heart? (A) This, as may be indicated, is the result, - or the irregularity is the result of the lack of fullness of the circulation through the system; and within itself - unless those influences are administered as to cause a too quick or a too full reaction - it may carry on to bring bettered conditions.

13. (Q) Lungs? (A) Here we find the result as might be expected from leakages direct from those areas where thinned walls of blood carriers or agents cause the hemorrhage.

14. (Q) Kidneys? (A) Here we find the effect shown of the system’s attempt to carry a slowed or excess of activities of its own secretion; and are not diseased in themselves.

15. (Q) Blood pressure? (A) This varies, - that is, it is excessive, and then changes rapidly, because of the very filling of the walls of the blood stream.

16. (Q) Blood vessels? (A) As indicated, through the very thinning of these walls, quite a variation is caused as to the ability of the system to keep a normal balance through same.

17. (Q) What alterations are to be found in the optic apparatus and pathways? (A) There is the effect of those conditions, in that a seepage through a thinned wall causes the greater amount of flow at times to come through these areas.

18. (Q) The auditory organs and their central pathways? (A) Pressures, or a thumping, or a heavy pressure upon same.

19. (Q) Are there any abnormalities in the rhinencephalon; and if so, how are they to be interpreted? (Q) In the manner as indicated, as to that which is causing the conditions, - which has produced and does produce the hot and cold sensations, as well as the general pressures upon the nerve system, through reactions to both the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nerves.

20. (Q) What are the conditions of the blood, the spinal fluids, and the urine? (A) As indicated from the activity of each of these upon the general system. These as we find are in order with those conditions which arise form such conditions in the walls of the circulatory system.

21. (Q) What is the conditions of the right pupillary reflex? (A) This has changed since, - because the condition has progressed, and has made more of contraction, - owing to the pressures of same upon the nerve centers and ganglia from which such portions receive their impulse for activity. Hence less ability of normal movement.

22. (Q) The left pupillary reflex? (A) The same, though here there has been a dilation, rather than the contraction as in the other.

23. (Q) Right bicep reflex? (A) All of these indications may be seen from the other conditions as outlined, and there needs to be the use of such properties as indicated.

There is needed, then, the injection of that effluvium in the blood as would cause better coagulation; not sufficient that it would so slow the circulation as to cause heart block, but that the walls may be stimulated by the flow of such past same in its general circulation.

24. (Q) The left bicep reflex? (A) The effects to all of these portions are in keeping with those things we have indicated.

Do that, then, as we have indicated, for the better reaction; though the condition has progressed much farther to be reckoned with, than had it been used in the manner first indicated.

25. We are through for the present.

R1. 12/8/39 Mrs. [1602]‘s letter:

MRS. [1602] NEW YORK CITY

Dear Mr. Cayce.

Well, the 2046-2 reading arrived at 7.30 this A.M. - [1833] called for it at 8.15 and it was in Dr. Howe’s hands at 8.30. Thanks and many thanks!

From there on, I am not informed. From the information, it would appear rather darkish but I still hope!

I feel rather responsible in a way, if this does not work out, principally because I feel I should not have accepted Dr. Dobbins’ reactions and report to [1833] and Dr. Howe, that he could do nothing in the case. Knowing what the reading indicated, I think I should have found someone else who would have given the opinion that the adjustment should be made. [2046] himself, in the very few fleeting moments of consciousness really wanted to follow the reading. I think I should have gone to Dr. Howe then! But as there were signs of [2046]‘s improving, I stupidly waited, hoping he, himself, would become conscious enough (when the hemorrhages stopped, as they did for a while), to discuss with him, personally, rather than with a man I did not know at all.

Then, when I finally met Dr. Howe and found him to be cooperative and anxious to try anything that was reasonable or that [1883] wanted, I just left it there! I did not feel, nor do I now, that I am sufficiently equipped to explain to a Doctor an entirely different method of approach to human ills! But I am sure someone could, and thus pave the way for research - as I understood was indicated in the readings as the next step along the way.

As a group, I think M.D.’s are about as open minded as a clam in a fit of temper but, being human beings with it all, I do believe that here and there ones can be found who - like St. Thomas, after he put his hands in the wound - would become “like the little child”! I must be so, in my reasoning, or we could never hope to find light in any darkened corner!

Well, [2046] still lives - in agony and distress. How long, I do not know. Yet I cannot help but feel, had I done differently before the complications become so complicated, things might have worked out in some other way. The directions for giving those injections to coagulate the blood, seem pretty delicate, to me! So we’ll leave the problem in higher hands and let His Will be manifest.

R2. 12/10/39 Mrs. [1602]‘s letter:

[2046]‘s condition is still quite desperate. [1833] hopes to bring Dr. Green [Charles S. Green, D.O.], an osteopath, in tomorrow. I only hope he will insist upon the corrections being made. Any more than that seems hard to accomplish, with all the good graces of the Doctor, now. It was Dobbins chance and he flubbed. And that is not the worst of it. He told [1833] that he did not always follow the readings when they did not suit his judgement! Now, this is between you and me and the old gate-post! Because I seem to find myself mixed up in more darn messages. The more I try to find Truth and work with it, the more duplicity I run into - and that, as you know, is a red flag to me!

Now put yourself in [1833]‘s place. After Dobbins’ refusal

• after we had worked like hec [heck] to get him in - and his subsequent statement - the Dr. telling her it would be suicidal to touch [2046] while there was the hemorrhage (Dobbins agreeing!), what could she believe and what could she do. She still trusted the Reading and wanted some convincing information to show Howe, who up to that time knew nothing about the Reading. I am positive, had Dobbins come thru, Howe would have risked (?) the adjustments because the complications had not then set in!

Well, if you ask me, if anyone bungled this up, I did. I should have insisted that [1833] get another osteopath… that was where the treatment lay. Oh, well! I can see a dozen things mixed up in this and so must rest the case - that is, if [1833] and Dr. Howe will let me!

I know, now, how difficult it has been for you. It’s like pulling taffy. Only wish I could get some of it off of my hands but, I don’t seem to be able to drop the sticky stuff!

R3. 12/11/39 EC’s reply: “Thanks for yours of the 8th. The afternoon after the reading arrived in N.Y. the Dr. called HL and talked with him, said it would help, and had a very nice letter from Mrs. [1883] this morning. Just hope can and will help somewhere along the way.

“You should not censure yourself one bit. As someone said, ‘Be sure your purpose is right, then go ahead.’

“Have been having ups and downs with M.D.’s now for 40 years, and know just how they are - and do not blame them one bit - for what we know, we know we know. It is when they admit they don’t know, then won’t listen, is when I blame them.”

R4. 12/24/39 Mrs. [1602]‘s letter: “[2046] is improving. Feel convinced he can have the adjustments when he returns from hospital. One thing is sure, in my mind, and that is that the reading stopped the intended ‘exploratory’ operation on head and any other drastic surgery that was contemplated.”

R5. 1/8/40 “[2046] is home from the hospital and I am to be his first visitor tomorrow - he is not well yet but better.”

R6. 1/20/40 “The latest reports from [2046] is that he is coming on quite well - both nurses have gone and he is almost normal once more. Saw him last week but others were there so nothing was said about the reading, etc. Will see reactions when we next meet.”

R7. 2/20/40 Wife [1833]‘s letter: “Dr. [2046] has been back from the hospital since Jan. 4th and has been up and around the house for over a month. His head doesn’t bother him but he can’t seem to get his strength back in his legs and knees which ache when he walks too much. All very discouraging but there must be some meaning behind it all.”

R8. 3/4/40 Mrs. [1602]‘s letter: “[2046] went to Florida yesterday to visit some friends and try to regain his strength.”

R9. 3/25/40 Wife’s letter: “Dr. [2046] is easing into practice again slowly and with much discouragement.”

R10. 4/3/42 See 2046-3, when doctors had pronounced that he had angina pectoris.
