GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2056]; this we have had before.
-
A great many changes have taken place in the body since last we had same here. Not all are for good.
-
In the present - as the result of conditions that have existed for a long while - we find there are complications. And while this is a heart affectation, it is not organic heart disturbance but rather that of a sympathetic nature; from complications.
-
Hence it will require patience, going slow, not overtaxing, plenty of rest - and yet the right sort of recreation.
-
These as we find are conditions in the present:
-
In the head, through a soft tissue in the antrum and sinus, there is an old disturbance that has been a great contributory cause to the stomach disorder. While there has been some disturbance that causes, or caused an unbalanced condition in the the gastric flow, we find that some congestion takes place through the alimentary canal as well as a stoppage - or a forming of swelling and of gas - in the lower portion of duodenum. This has also caused a tendency for a plethoric condition in the descending colon; and accumulations are indicated there.
-
This has made for pressures in the nerves of the hypogastrics. This pressure has caused that circulation between heart, liver and lungs, as combined with that to the lower portion, to produce the attack. It caused, then, a quickening of pulse, the acute condition, and the lack of circulation being coordinated between superficial and the cerebrospinal systems; producing a form of anemia to the superficial body, or superficial circulation, and quite an alteration in the blood pressure. This tends to make for the lack of vitality, or pep, or the keeping of a normal balance through the body.
-
As we find, these would be the administrations:
-
First, rather regularly, once a week, for a period of ten or fifteen weeks, we would have the general hydrotherapy treatments; including not the dry cabinet sweats but a mild fume bath, and then a thorough rubdown - using an equal combination of Peanut Oil and Olive Oil. Such a massage would be slowly but gently done, deep, and sufficient to stimulate the superficial circulation.
-
Do occasionally, with such a hydrotherapy treatment, have a colonic irrigation irrigation; the frequency of which should be judged by the character of the discharge from the colon. It may be necessary for this to be very gently, very slowly given.
-
And watch the pulsation, especially during the first of these treatments.
-
Also, when these treatments are given, do apply over the face, the antrum and nasal passages, three to four thicknesses of gauze saturated in Glyco-Thymoline, warm; and then apply heat over same - this for ten to fifteen minutes. And then massage the area gently afterwards, see?
-
Night and morning use the nasal spray with warm Glyco-Thymoline, for the soft tissue in head and throat.
-
Do not take sedatives, if it is practical to keep away from same.
-
Keep good eliminations; this will be necessary.
-
In the diet, - while there should not be taken those foods that are rough, of course, or that form too much bulk, - do take carrots, beets, raw vegetables, some of each of these each day, or some of their combinations. Use fish or fowl as the meats.
-
Do keep away from carbonated drinks, and especially, of course, from any fermented drinks.
-
Do take plenty of water at all times.
-
Then the recreation:
-
Keep in those atmospheres of a creative influence, of that which is good, that which brings recreation or change of thought, change of activity of the body.
-
And we will bring better conditions for this body, [2056].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What further may be done to correct and prevent itching piles? (A) As we find, if Tim would be used here, - this applied after each stool, - it will allay and heal the tissue.
Also when the colonics are given (though these will be at least six weeks apart) (though don’t wait this long for the first one), we find that the application of Tim at such times will be helpful.
- (Q) How may the small warts, which have resulted from the condition, be eliminated? (A) As we find, with these corrections and changes of circulation indicated, most of these should disappear. These are not true warts, but those of cellular tissue broken by the general strain and the form of astringent applied - which has been rather strong.
Do those things suggested, and we will make better conditions for this body.
- We are through with this Reading.

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I received the reading yesterday and while I do not know a great deal of these things, not being a doctor, still I would say that you have hit the nail on the head. I sent a letter off to Dr. Reilly and expect to hear from him shortly in regard to treatments. I want to thank you very much for your help and you may be sure I will be glad to keep you advised as to developments.
Hope you hear soon from the boy and that he is not being sent overseas. I am expecting [2060] home this week-end provided he can get his three-day pass. Of course that does not give him very much time in New York, but he seems to think that it is worthwhile.
With best regards to Mrs. Cayce, yourself and the rest, I am
Sincerely yours [2056]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have been wanting to write to you some time but have purposely delayed doing so knowing that you would be busy with the convention and its after - effects.
In going up to … last Sunday, I noticed the young lady in front of me reading “There Is a River”. I wanted to ask what she thought about it, but being rather timid as you will appreciate, I just didn’t.
I finished with Dr. Riley a little over a month ago, at which time we both decided that perhaps it would be better to get a check-up before going any further. I know that you must be terribly busy, but if you do have an open date and can spare it, I wish you would allot it to me. If so, kindly let me know.
Best personal regards to you and yours.
R3. 8/9/43 Mr. [2056]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have delayed writing until I knew definitely just what my plans were going to be. Have made arrangements to go away for a week or ten days this coming Friday. I’ll see what country air and sunshine will do for me.
This will change the information which I gave you in my previous letter. Next Sunday morning I will be at Camp …, …, Vermont. This is on the southern tip of South Hero Island on Lake Champlain. It is the camp where [298] and I used to go every summer, although I haven’t been there now for the last twelve years. It is a beautiful spot and I am sure the rest and quiet will help me alot.
I have seen Dr. Riley [Reilly] and there were no questions which occurred to him except that if the previous treatments are to be continued, he wondered whether there should be added to them, the tonic spray and/or ultra violet rays. In view of the trouble I had this summer from the heat and the excessive sweating, I wonder if it would be advisable to continue the fume baths. All of the foregoing is simply a sort of guide to Mrs. Cayce in case she needs it.
I would like to have the following questions answered:
- What is the cause of the neuralgia or neuritis pains in the right shoulder and arm?
- What steps should be taken to correct this?
- Is this in any way connected with the trouble found in the previous reading?
Again let me thank you for your kindness in giving up your Sunday. I certainly appreciate it more than I can tell you. I am going to ask that you kindly send a copy of the reading to me at Camp …, as I shall probably be there until the twenty-third or twenty-fourth.
Sincerely yours
Regards to all, [2506]

Background
Background
B1. Previously he had secured two Life Readings:
- What is the matter with me?
- Is it my heart or the old stomach trouble?
- How may the attacks be prevented?
- What further may be done to correct and prevent itching piles?
- How may the small warts, which have resulted from the condition, be eliminated?
- Any advise regarding the sinus condition?
B2. 2/23/43 Letter: “Last summer, the early part of June I think it was, I had a bad spell. The doctor called in at the time said it was a heart attack brought on by overwork and general rundown condition. I stayed home for a week, but then decided that I might as well pass out quickly as stagnate. Going back to work seemed to have no bad effects, probably because I was very careful not to overdo. Then to settle my own doubts I had a cardiograph. That showed up negative. Perhaps I became careless, but in the press of business it is difficult to hold back. We had a very hard fall and winter season. I just managed to pull through by Christmas, when I took my week’s vacation. The time was far too short to recuperate and as a consequence I have had a rather bad time these past two months. Would like to know what, if anything is the matter with me. And secondly whether it is my heart or the old stomach trouble that I have always had more or less. And of course after finding out the cause, to get the remedy for it. Have had several mild recurrences of the type of attack I had last summer, and to be quite frank with you I have been somewhat alarmed. I suppose with this brief history the questions to be asked would naturally occur to one used to these readings.
“There is one other question I would like to have answered. For a great many years I have suffered with what are commonly known as itching piles, although the medical world says there are no such animals. For the last three years I have had treatments from at least four different experts in the field. The net result seems to be a slight improvement as far as the itching is concerned, but in the process of eliminating that I have accumulated a goodly crop of small warts, which I would gladly dispense with, if I could.”
B3. 3/1/43 “Have had an infected sinus condition - but that seems to be coming along alright and I’m beginning to regain my pep.”
