This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of September, 1927, in accordance with request made the by self - [2071], via Mr. [257] and Mrs. [903].

Born September 26, 1894, Mt. Pulaski, Ill. Time of Reading 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving the time, place and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present earth’s plane.

3. In entering the earth’s plane we find this entity comes under the influences of Jupiter, Venus, Aries, and Uranus.

4. In those latent forces as are manifested, and those as have been manifested, we find some differences in the body - for, as is seen, while a lover, the body has ever been a dreamer. Also with many desires, many urges, many disappointments, many of the successes, and much good may be accomplished in the present experience. Much has been caused through the mis-application of will’s forces in the present experience; yet much good has come to many through the efforts of this entity. Hence we find one, while endowed especially with that urge of attempting great things, still within self rarely does the entity reach that point as is satisfactory to self.

5. In the urges, in the conditions and in the karmic conditions to be met, much will be seen as respecting the WHY or the application of environmental conditions as applied to the will forces of this body.

6. One, then, high minded.

7. One that has ever been the lover, rather than loved.

8. One that has brought much to others through the love expressed in many ways to and through many peoples.

9. One that is the lover of the arts, and will go far in accomplishing much that has to do with musical training for the immature yet TALENTED minds. Make the dissemination, or use discretion in judging these!

10. One that has much in common with those that are students of occult or of mistic [mystic] forces. Rather the mental and occult, though, are the greater influences in the life.

11. One that is PLEASANT of mien - yet meets many hardships, when the good seems to be predominating, as the entity understands same.

12. The greater trouble as then is seen is lack of motive force as respecting that contemplated, endeavored, or attempted by the entity.

13. Do not stumble so much over self.

14. Do not put self as the main expression of that to be accomplished in the various fields of endeavor. Rather lose self in service to others, and use as that SERVED as the Lord, rather than lording self over others.

15. One that will find that those conditions as pertain to Venus and the influences in JUPITER, WERE these applied along with WILL’S inner dominating force toward that force applied through Uranian influence, the heights of prominence and the good in self would be raised to that position that POWER would mean the better opportunity to serve, rather than to use the power over others.

16. In the expression in love, not giving ALL without the other finding self in attune to others - for, as seen, in the last few years - since Uranus has been in rule - much in the way of domestic, social and financial troubles have come to the entity. When - in the present year and in December - Jupiter WITH Venus rules, the opportunities will again present themselves for the entity to apply will and self in gaining much stability, and much of good may come through the efforts of the entity.

17. As to appearances and the urges from same manifested and latent - for, as given, yet much undeveloped or unsatisfied urges are seen:

18. In the one before this we find the entity among those who first presented to the common people those of that art called drama, and the entity then in the name Neichet. The entity brought much to the peoples, even through the travels experienced in that day, though hardships were encountered in the physical sense, yet in service the entity brought much. In persecution the entity failed to keep that which had been built in self. Hence the urge, as it were, to hold that as would be called malice, and ever determining within self “I’ll get even with you yet.” Doesn’t pay! for this only builds to self that as is held in thought - for thoughts are deeds, and become crimes or miracles!

19. In the one before this we find in the country now known as Grecian, and the entity then gave much in the way of UNDERSTANDING to the peoples in that period when the new theories were being propounded by that one who gave much knowledge and understanding in REASON. The entity then among those who would follow in the way of that teacher, yet hindered by the circumstances of the day - yet GAINED through the application of those tenets as were studied and felt by the entity through that period. In the name Zenoia. The urge as is seen - love of strength, whether physical, mental, or athletic, or in whatever form, or animal. STRENGTH - that loved and sought, yet - as given - not ALWAYS does the entity manifest strength in action.

20. In the one before this we find in that period when much change was coming to the peoples through the study of the mysteries of the ages past in that land now known as Egyptian. The entity then among those that followed close in the study of the sciences called astrological or astral science, and many copies of that compiled by the entity may YET be found among Egyptian WRITINGS, or portion of same, in those tombs near Memphis. In the urge as is seen, that undecided relationship between mystery, religion, faith and trust, hope and prayer. The unstableness of the urges brings much troublesome times to the entity in the lack of confidence, lack of faith, and the inactive forces towards setting the standard in Him that made the way clear for those who would follow in the path that gives rest in mind, rest in body, and the satisfaction of the life well spent.

21. In abilities, MANY are seen, as given, and the field lies mostly in that of music and training of those who have talent. Do not lose patience, or self, in those who may not attain. First and foremost the entity needs to find self LOST in Him who gave, “Come unto me and learn of me, for I am lowly in HEART, and ye shall find REST unto your soul.” Learn what that means!

22. In the applications of self, then, keep the way straight. Keep the path holy, and keep self nearer and nearer to the way that leads to better understanding.

Dear Mr. Cayce -

Being of the opinion that honesty is always the best policy I am prompted to tell you frankly that I was keenly disappointed in the reading which I received yesterday.

None of the questions I asked were answered. These were of paramount importance to me - especially so at this period. The reading contained nothing except NAMES in past incarnations that I do not already fully know - and as I was really in need of counsel - I could not help but be disappointed.

I work for my living & support several besides myself and it is therefor not a simple matter for me to waste $20.00. Do you not feel that you can cover some of the questions you are holding?

My dear Mr. Cayce:-

At the suggestion of [257] I am applying for a reading and am listing below the questions which are most vital to me at this writing.

A check is enclosed toward cost of the work.

1 - What can you tell me of my past incarnations? 2 - Who is he of the turban, black mustache and pearls who appears to me frequently from another plane? (The young man who seems interested in me - or was at some previous time.) How can I (and would it be advisable) to promote that contact? 3 - I am a lover of beauty, and without vanity, would like to make myself more beautiful. How can I? 4 - What is the cause of my excess weight and how can it be overcome? 5 - What is the cause of the friction between my husband, […], and myself, and how can it be overcome? 6 - Will I marry again, or what chance have I for real happiness in that direction? 7 - How can I best promote the success of my business? especially the sale of my records and songs. 8 - [crossed out] Is there any business, other than that wherein I am at present engaged, in which I would realize a greater success? 9 - How can I increase my popularity, especially with the opposite sex? 10 - When is the right time for me to go to Europe? If possible please give details.
