GC: You will give the physical conditions of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2072]; this we have had before, you see.
-
There are changes in the general forces of the body from that we have had before. In general there are improvements. In some specifics there’s been some slipping, but these are the attitudes, the purposes. For, we have had a lot to overcome within self of self-condemnation.
-
Look into self and follow, then, closely those suggestions that have been made. Not that a body is to think more highly of self than it ought to think, but if the attitude is “Not my will but Thine, O Lord, be done in and through me,” then that thou thinkest and the way thou doest is but the Father working in and through thee. It is the I AM that is to be used when you eat, when you sleep, when you work, when you play. And it all has its part, and you experience the joy of living the more.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should I continue osteopathic treatments? (A) About once each week the body should be rubbed along the spine with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh. Heat the oil to add the Myrrh. If this will be done once each week, except at certain periods, much better strength will be attained.
Then once a month or once in six weeks have a good, thorough osteopathic relaxing and not a stimulating treatment.
When the oil massages are given, it would be well to use the electrically driven vibrator - after the massage has been given along either side of the spine, across the diaphragm area, across the top of the pelvic area - that is, at the pelvic center and the sacral areas. This do with the cup applicator - it’ll be good for the body - and you can eat more.
- (Q) Should I continue the Calcios and Yeast? (A) Occasionally, yes; not too often.
We would take KalDak instead of the yeast in the present, and this will add more of the calcium combined with phosphorous. But don’t let the phosphorous set you on fire to get mad, but keep attuned to purposefulness in the whole body. This is referring to the fires of nature, not of any particular physical thing, you see. Take a level teaspoonful once each day, thoroughly dissolved first in a small quantity of hot water, and then fill the glass with milk and cream.
-
(Q) Should I continue the Violet Ray? (A) This is well for the body occasionally; not too often.
-
(Q) Should I continue the Fume Baths and oil massage? (A) Leave off the Fume Baths for the time being. Wait until it is hot weather, though you would like to take it more when it is cold. It is better for you in the warm weather, for this particular body.
-
(Q) Certain foods such as pineapple, chocolate, etc., seem to cause excess formations of matter in the pores. Is it advisable to avoid foods that cause this excessively? (A) These should be taken in part, and then let the massages and those cuppings that may be done with the electrical vibrator cleanse those centers from which these areas - as in the upper portion of the body, across the area of the sternum, or at the end of the breast bone on either side, and at the edge of the collar bone just below the throat, along on the spine at the 3rd cervical and at the 1st and 2nd dorsal. This comes across to the top of the shoulder blade, then those areas at the pubic center on either side of the body, and on the back at the 4th lumbar - not on the spine itself, but on either side, you see.
-
(Q) Is it well to remove the matter from the pimples and blackheads that form? (A) This is very well, provided the areas are rubbed soon afterward with this combination of oils:
Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Olive Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/4 ounce.
-
(Q) What causes burning sensation in the eyes? (A) The troubles indicated from the centers close to the base of the neck.
-
(Q) Any need for glasses? (A) Not long off, but take the head and neck exercises and you can delay it some years yet.
Keep in that attitude of thankfulness; not that as of belittling self. But as just indicated, as ye give thanks, give praise for the joys of each day - and you’ll have more to add to thy joys daily.
- We are through for the present.

Mr & Mrs. […] …, Va.
Dear [2072] and [1861]:
Mighty glad to have your letter of the 19th.
I certainly have been through a strenuous three or four weeks, and am not feeling entirely myself as yet, though we have begun to try to carry on. I think I am gradually feeling better everyday. When the flue gets hold of you, its not easy to get rid of, especially if you have to take the sulfa drugs, as I did, to prevent pneumonia. Maybe if I try to help others, I will be able to get more help for myself.
I wish you might have been present at my birthday party on Sunday the 20th. The folks of Norfolk were not able to get out on Saturday and though Sunday was a very bad day, snow sleet and rain, they came in full force, with large bundles of presents and everything that tended to make a fellow feel good. There were plenty of birthday cakes and ice cream. I am sure all had a good time, I did, and I know that’s what they were trying to do, make me feel a little better, and I appreciate it so much. Makes me feel rather little for so much consideration to be shown me. Certainly wish you both could have been here.
Yes, it is bad. Mother and I both have been sick. She too, is feeling much better. No, I don’t think the book has brought too much on me. I am like Costello, “I have been a bad boy.” When I get mad, and I do sometimes, its too bad that I can’t control my temper, and I have to pay for it. Illness is sin. I think we all will learn it some day or another.
I wish I could spend a little time with you, but I am thinking we are going to have to try to stay pretty close to keep up with, and overcome so many of the disappointments we have given people in the last few weeks. I will try not to over-do it, however.
When you come over in the mornings, why don’t you try to give us a few minutes? You can make it to the beach, can’t you? We will be looking for you the 17th of April, and I am figuring on being well enough to take care of you.
Yes, the weather was bad, and as I said before, the folks from Norfolk had a party for me Sunday afternoon. It didn’t stick on the ground here, as it must have done there, but it was snowing, sleeting and raining and it was heavy, but folks were here from seven weeks old, on up to grand parents.
I guess people just make so much over me that’s why I make such a fool of myself. I try, but it’s kinda hard not to let so much thought and care kinda turn you head.
Fine, or course we will be glad to have any of the clippings that you have, and I think you will have to come along and get all these clippings together. Our books of reference to There is a River, needs fixing too, as well as our files on the clippings. I wish you could spend a week or so here and get these things fixed for us.
What do you think of the weekly letter, and don’t you think the Bulletin is nice and that Harmon is doing a nice job with it?
Thanks a lot for everything, and with love to you and [1861] and asking to be remembered to the rest of the folks at your house, I remain
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

Mrs. [2072] … Street …, Virginia
Dearest Eddie,
We hope you have gained strength daily and have not gone back to work too hastily.
Thank you for your letter (and card from Florida, too).
Have you ever asked in a reading if it would be possible in this life to rejuvenate yourself as you did in the Egyptian period? Seriously, have you ever given it a thought? And why shouldn’t you? I believe it can be done, don’t you? But I believe you would have to get away from people and rest for a definite period of a year or two without giving readings. But, truly, I for one, and [1861] for two, would like to see you have such a rest to gather your body forces together and renew them. Mrs. Cayce needs a rest, too.
Where are Hugh Lynn and Edgar Evans now? There is a young soldier and wife who attend the Episcopal Church every Sunday with their baby. The soldier reminds me a great deal of Hugh Lynn and the baby who is about the same age of his, only a girl, add so much to the similarity, they bring a thousand questions regarding Hugh Lynn surging through my mind and make me look for and expect the same fine qualities in him as in H. L.
How did you find Thomas Sugrue? Perhaps some of these questions can wait till we come the 17th, for answering. Anyway you can be thinking of the answers.
I think you will be glad to hear that [2828] has not had any spells since they have gotten the light. They started the second cycle of light treatments last Sunday.
Also, Mr. […], whose wife [3599] you recently gave a reading for, approached [1861] down town and said they had been very well pleased at the results she had gotten from the Reading already. We were glad to hear of Mrs. [3599] as we had not heard of her since before she had it.
Eddie, what do you consider to be the meaning of Michael’s warning? What is meant by him being “Lord of the Way”? and especially of the words: “But don’t be pigs!” [See 294-208, quoted in 3/44 Bul.]
How is the fund growing?
How WE wish we could have been at your birthday party, too! But we’re looking forward to April 17th and seeing you then.
It looks as though we never shall get a garden in this year, altho I spaded a space for lettuce, radishes, and cabbage Saturday afternoon and got those seed in the ground anyway. But either it rains so frequently as to keep the ground oozy and unplowable or we are unable to get the colored man to plow it. If only we’ll have a continuation of some of these rains during the summer months - we could have a wonderful garden.
Excellent last Bulletin! I don’t think you need have any fear of over doing the sensational. Harmon’s [Harmon H. Bro] work shows splendid judgement and there is such a keen sense of inspiration and enthusiasm I think I wish he were our minister here at our church for a good long while. I mean that really. The churches need him. We need him here.
Lovingly and with a get-well kiss,
R3. 4/5/44 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2072]:
Mrs. [2072] … Street …, Virginia
Dear [2072]:
Thanks a lot for yours of the 2nd.
Yes, I am glad to say that I am feeling lots better, and am in hopes I will be able to carry on as I should. Our great trouble is with getting so far behind with transcribing what information that we are able to give. Don’t know just how to organize the work. Guess I am a very poor organizer and haven’t much business ability, but maybe one person isn’t supposed to have everything.
Oh yes there have been quite a number of times questions have been asked about regeneration. Don’t believe we have had them for the individual questions as you asked, but we have for others, and have some very, very good information that is applicable to practically anyone. It’s just like most everything else and like what brought on this last spell for me, the spirit may be willing, but the flesh is mighty weak.
Yes, I am sure it would require getting away possibly for some little time, yet to get any place where you could make everything coordinate, is something else. I don’t know whether we are ready for it or not. I am sure we never will be until we do make a start, however. I will have to be convinced that I am worthy of such. I am sure Mother needs a rest just about as much as any of us. She is planning sometime this spring to take about three or four weeks off I think. You better come down and take the readings.
Hugh Lynn is still in England and Edgar Evans is in the South Atlantic. They both seem to be getting along pretty well. I wish you and [1861] could see Charles Thomas now. He is beginning to try to talk, but he won’t stand for anybody laughing at him when he can’t say his words; he refuses to say anything.
Tom was pretty well when I saw him in Florida, and I talked to him just a night or two ago. He says he is doing fine now, swimming and walking some every day. Of course that is on his crutches. He seems to be getting along pretty well with his book. He is writing a biography of Col. Starling, the man who was in the White House as guard, or secret service man, for thirty years, from Theodore Roosevelt to Franklin.
Certainly am glad to hear that Mr. [2828] is getting some results, and its mighty good to hear that Mrs. [3599] too is getting results. This is a very hard case.
Now you ask me something that I am afraid to try to answer. Possibly you can ask some of those who were present, for of course each one got an answer all their own, and I don’t think anyone is very prone to say very much about it. As most of them say, it is almost too awe inspiring or makes you feel so little. We, as most human beings are, are prone to pass it off as something unusual happening. As to his being Lord of the Way, that I believe is referred to several times in the Book, especially if you read Jude, and as to how he warred with Satan over the body of Moses. That is the way, I am sure is referred to. Moses had not kept the whole law; the spiritual law, and there was some question as to how much he would have to pay in the inter-between evidently. The other few times that he apparently appeared during the record that is given of the prophets and saints, is very much in the same vein.
The fund is doing very well; many of our friends have been very, very nice to us. I am quite anxious about what will be the disposition the members of the board will consider should be done with this and I am most anxious that Hugh Lynn have a voice in same, so I am going to have to depend a great deal upon those who are very close to me. I am in hopes I will have the opportunity to talk with you and [1861] at some length when you are here on the 17th, much less the meeting in June.
No, it has been such bad weather I don’t suppose anyone has gotten in much of a garden as yet. I haven’t even undertaken anything and don’t suppose I can. Help is so uncertain, and yet we are possibly in better position to undertake it than at any time since we have been here, if we had the help. I hardly know which way to go; have too many things to think about.
Am very glad to know that both of you are pleased with the little data that we are able to send out; it is certainly being very, very favorably spoken of from most every quarter.
Thanks a lot and we are looking forward to seeing you the 16th and 17th. With love to you both, I remain
Ever the same, Edgar Cayce
