This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of March, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2072], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, conditions in the main are progressing very well. To be sure, there are some disturbances at times with the general activity of glands and eliminations.

4. But keep that general activity, the occasional correction, and the keeping of the body in a normal relation between the acid and alkalines; not becoming overalkaline, for this may be worse than not sufficient. But the general activities, and these things kept in mind; that is, the alkalization and the acidization of the system in a nominal balance. However, do not become one set on any particular diet. For, remember, all the forces necessary for body changes are within the realm of the diet for an individual. And these are the natural sources, means and manners through which such should be carried on. An ounce of preventative may be worth pounds of cure!

5. Thus it is well to keep the mental attitude correct, but not at the extremes, ever.

6. Well to keep the general activity, the exercise. And do have some of that each day in the open, when practical. There is much more value in exercising in the sun than in many a dose, or even at times meditation.

7. But meditate oft and correctly, though keeping a normal balance.

8. And we will continue to make for better conditions for this body.

9. The stomach itself has not developed as much as it should.

Do eat a little bit more each time; not to make it disagreeable or unpleasant afterward, but do expand the stomach more, and we will find that the general health will be improved.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) I have been advised to have my upper right wisdom tooth extracted. Is this advisable? (A) Wisdom teeth are very seldom satisfactory. We would advise removal.

12. (Q) What is the best polarity for this body as it sleeps? (A) This as we find is sometimes varied. But the better polarity is the facing - that is, then the feet - toward the South.

13. (Q) As it meditates? (A) Facing the East, to be sure.

14. (Q) Is it correct for me to believe as true, that information regarding my Palestine reincarnation which came as a dream in form and appearance as a reading in the very early morning of January 5th? (A) If this reoccurs to the body, in perhaps some changed form, then consider it - as an experience in turning back in time and space.

15. (Q) How did the postal card mailed and received by my grandmother in June of 1933, get to Weihfien, China (pronounced way-sen)? (A) This as we find went through delayed but regular channels.

Do keep constructive, creative. And know that the entity is capable within self of being aware of all that is. For, the entity itself - as each soul-entity - is a miniature universe. And with those abilities of re-creation, there is the ability of knowing, of being all that is; so long as the entity is at-one with Him who is the builder and maker.

R1. 3/13/43 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Dearest [2072]

Thanks for yours of the 11th - you must be one busy lady, don’t over do yourself and undo what you have been building up. Oh ho yes the Red Cross is my pet charity if have one, but go out of my way to try and make contributions to that when have to skip some that would like to do, have seen enough to know that counts where it is needed most oft times.

Sure were disappointed in not seeing you last week, but when are you coming to Norfolk again, sure you both are to keep up the treatments now and then be sure and let me know and do get out to see us when you come if possible.

Guess it is hard getting about these days - slow enough on the train and the buses, one never knows when they will get there - some lady came up to meet her husband from La. or Texas and she was more than a day late - just held up on road some where.

Well will have to collect double next time see you - never so many as feel could afford to lose one, being sassy I guess but mean it. Do tho get out to see us if you can - we have quite a number of reviews, the one in the local Va. Beach paper and one in the Ledger Dispatch were extra nice to us - the rest well not bad some of them but nothing extra - the one tho for the Christian Century - one am most interested in

• the reviewer coming to see me before they write it - hope that will be good any way, having a few letters from those who have read the book in many parts of the country - these letters are lovely, just hope may be the means of being of help to many of them.

Thanks for the enclosure, yes do wish you both to keep at and above par and can I be the means of help - well that is when I am the happiest.

O that is the way the wind blows is it - no wonder the reading said eat a little more than enough to satisfy you, don’t know what will do with you if can’t get you to eat, yes you used to be like that too, but were always fat enough then.

You eat just to live, not because you like to eat.

No - don’t think it is the same for every one as to Polarity, as know it has given some others differently.

Be nice if they do have the Book in your local Library also the School. Will be interesting what will be said about it.

Enclose one just received to day - had letter from this man he wishes a reading for himself - tho several of the reviewers have asked for that.

R2. 3/18/43 [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Mrs. [2072] …, Street …, Virginia

Dearest Eddie:

I did want to get a birthday wish to you on your birthday, but not being able to write you sooner - I shall have to wish it now and think 66 kisses to you. You have a splendid life of good to look back on and the book coming out when it did is commemorative. Many, many, many more happy birthdays and may no one ever dishonor your name or character work.

Thank you for your letter and sharing this review with us. We both liked the points that were emphasized here. I, personally, was disappointed and dissatisfied with the review in the N.Y. Times Book Section - reviewed it by a “doubting Thomas” apparently, it seemed to me. Do you have a copy of that review? These two are the only ones we have seen so far. Well, according to the Reading we heard last summer, though, it isn’t so important what the reviewer thinks or says as it is that it be reviewed, so I guess I’ll have to be patient, hold my tongue and not feel too hard against reviewers who won’t pick or point but the good, the constructive, the remarkable things in the book, in the life related therein.

Mother just came in to say she had been reading the book and just couldn’t put it down. She hasn’t been able to read it until recently - began two days ago.

I wonder if … Jones has gotten down to see you yet. We hope he has, as we haven’t seen him for several days. I know of no one who is so in need of advice as might be given him in a reading. When I realize how much all my readings have straightened me out physically, mentally and spiritually, I just know there is nothing else equal to them to help one make and meet the adjustments one must always make to life.

We had hoped maybe we would be able to take the early morning train and pay you a visit this time we went to Norfolk, but guess we shall have to set that up further in the future and rather request the pleasure of your company in Norfolk, please, if you can possibly give it to us. I’ve started taking a Monday evening and Tuesday evening class in the identification of airplanes. We observers are asked by the government to learn the various kinds of planes and Miss Alice Reed has just returned, from taking a course in Richmond, to teach us. It is a rather intense course and I’m afraid I will lose out if I miss one night. Wednesday morning is my morning to inspect and supervise R.C. surgical dressings, but we CAN come down for treatments Wednesday afternoon, the 24th. The 25th is my birthday, so if you’d like to do me a birthday favor (and we’ll count it for [1861]‘s too, on the 4th of April - being close close to both of ours) I would like you to come in. We both need some relaxing treatments, I guess. [1861] has been practicing so hard for his recital this Friday nite, 8:15 P.M., the 19th, and has had a slight cold this past week; and I’m kinda tired with all this running around and a mean tenseness between my shoulder blades that developed to an ugly headache yesterday.

Guess we’d better get off to bed now. It’s 10:15.

You may have the double indeed. Wish I could give you sixty-six tonight - one for every time you’ve read the Bible - and one for Little Eddie from Little Anna.

R3. 3/22/43 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Dearest [2072]

Ooooo - what a day snow blowing all about - about the worst day of the winter, and quite cold also. Thanks for yours of the 18th - thanks and will some day collect all those 66, well don’t look to me to have done as much as should, just hope to be able to use what other years or days I have here now to the best service for HIM.

The review in Times was the one that upset me the most, but guess might expect such, the Boston papers have been most kind - and am told that is very unusual - yes, is much better to have people take notice than that it be disregarded all together, none of the Chruch papers have reviewed it thus far

• will be interesting to note what they have to say - a Minister told me that all was needed now to assure the big sale was to have some Church Pub. to ban the Book. But several of the Church papers are coming to see me - or the reviewers are at least. So so so let’s hope I am equal to the ordeal.

Thank Mother […] for me am glad she found it of interest - is quite interesting to see the reaction from the letters from those who have read it from all parts of the country. Yes - Mr. Jones was here for two days, sent him back to you and [1861] so he may be in to see you all.

Mighty nice of you to say what the readings have meant to you that means more to me than from most any one else - but am sure you know that.

Well - well so you will be down Wednesday evening the 24th - and I am supposed to lead the discussion group of the men’s study class at the Church that night, if hadn’t already promised the Minister that would, would back out but have given out the papers on same so guess will have to forego the pleasure this time, but is a real hardship can tell you - for am real hungry to see you both and have a few minutes with you both. Sorry the rush of business of each business of both of us make it impractical for the meeting in Norfolk this trip.

Will try if at all possible to write you a special Birthday message but if not - here is wishing you many happy returns of the day, and wishing for you all the joy and happiness that comes with the closer walk with Him, could never tell you just how much you and [1861] both mean to me, love each of you too much ever to put that in to words. But one of the greatest joys I have is being with you both even for just a little while. And may the coming years bring that joy more and more profound int he lives of each of us.

Hope you have a fine treatment and both go home feeling much better, am sure Dr. Richardson is the one that can give such a treatment to you.

R4. 3/30/43 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Dearest [2072]

Thanks for yours of the 28th - yes some one sent me a copy of the add in the Times - the Publishers must believe in the book, for that add cost money, but understand the book has already started on 2nd printing guess this as told me is a sample, a store in Washington ordered six - then 20 and last week 100. Am hearing from quite a number - takes me all day to answer letters from the time mail comes of morning until time for supper and at times long after.

My home state paper asked for a feature story, at least feel complemented don’t know just what to do about it dislike too much spread.

Oh you don’t know how I really hated to miss you all last week - while they had a large crowd at the meeting, very large and the Minister was quite complementary in presenting me, with reference to book and all, am sure couldn’t do justice to my subject for thinking would wrather be in Norfolk with you all do hope won’t miss you next time, hope can get days changed so as not to overlap if just as convenient for you all.

Gosh my notoriety - just hope it doesn’t undermine me in any way - will need the prayers and help of many of you to keep me in place.

An do get out to see us if possible, want to see the baby before he grows up, want to see the effect he has on [1861], and [1861] on him. And now is the time for that.

Mr. Jones needs help, do hope gave him a bit to hold on to, but he gets very near the border often times doesn’t he?

Hope those there reading the book are pleased with what they read. Bethel College - my what memories for me, my Mother went to school there is right in town Mother used to live after I left home almost directly across from the school, is on west 15th st - believe the Army has taken it over at present for officers, the large camp there near Hopkinsville.

Am a bit anxious about how the Church papers will review the book if at all. The reviewer a former Missionary to China, is on way here to interview me tomorrow she is writing for Christian Century. Heard from another minister in Kansas some where, he was to review the book, he said it would not be adverse what ever that may mean in his language.

Like the Soldiers attitude, and what does he say when he finished it nice letter from some gentleman in Boston today. He was well pleased with the section on Philosophy, he says - am especially interested in same as a Christianized version of the ancient wisdom of India, Persia, and religion of ancient Egypt.

Don’t know but don’t believe the article is in the Reader’s Digest as yet. Yes - didn’t you get a copy of the last reading for Glad Helpers, they were to be sent out from Norfolk last week. Will ask about that tonight.

Oh yes the readings usually give a reason for most every thing [Reason for polarity when one sleeps?] - face south one is very evenly balance in nerve energy so move with motion of earth with lower portion of body moving slower. Face to north one needing to be soothed by gentle pressure of blood to head - as in giving the physical readings. Face to east, to keep in the circle of spirit and move with motion of earth have never seen any as should sleep face to west - so can’t answer that - the explanation may be worse than the question.

Polarized with motion of the currents of vibration as make or cause the magnetic pole. Oh yes - reminds me more of little Anna than any thing happened in some time now, she was all questions - even as to why was a kiss so nice - and so much so from one person than from another. And how did people find out that it was nice. Do you recall the conclusions we came to???

Glad the Dr. Finds [1861] on the up and up, speaks well for both of them. Yes Miss [288] is her old self again, was in bad shape, most of it from getting hit by a car - so reading said, and believe Dr. agreed. Tho she didn’t respond to his mode of treatment, did to the suggested ones.

R5. 6/17/43 [2072]‘s testimonial on EC’s work:

It always gives my husband and me so much pleasure to speak of Mr. Cayce and his wonderful work; and so we feel we would like to tell you just what the past few years of our experience with the Readings and our association with Mr. Cayce have meant to us: We feel that no part of our lives has been so important and valuable to us as that which has been gained from the Readings given through Mr. Cayce, beginning with our first experience, that of my husband’s Physical Reading [1861-1].

For a number of years I had been suffering from poor digestion and elimination and was unable to eat a variety of foods, all of which, was seriously undermining my health. My first physical reading gave the primary cause as subluxations in various regions of the spinal column. This verified, incidentally, the results of examinations by two osteopaths made previous to getting the reading, but of which Mr. Cayce knew nothing. Osteopathic adjustments, hydrotherapy treatments, massage, and various other measures have caused marked improvement in my general health and now I am able to eat normally.

The Physical Readings proved to be of such inestimable value to us that we soon obtained our Life Readings as well as our Mental and Spiritual Readings. These, perhaps, more than anything else, have helped us to discover and explore somewhat that which is involved in the enigmatical old saw, “Know Thyself” - those obscure and intricate parts of our personalities, minds and souls. Why are we as we are? Why do we have certain innate urges or abilities, expressed, or even, sometimes, repressed; why do we have certain desires, or certain attractions or repulsions to others? Isn’t there often a deeper meaning about some of these things than we can find in our daily lives to explain them? Couldn’t they be karmic and brought over from another incarnation? The Life Readings had something to say! They have broadened our minds: placing before us, in brief form, those progressions or retrogressions we have made in past lives lived upon this earth. These became, to us, as a foundation for this lifetime; they helped us understand ourselves and one another; they helped us find our purposes, our abilities, - yes, and our weaknesses; they gave us a different understanding and attitude toward all mankind.

As a bookkeeper in the business world I had come to dislike the drudgery of routine more and more, but when my life reading came it said I should “Be the Home, and in the Home for the better expression. I have, indeed, found a far greater happiness in my Home.

R6. 7/18/43 (Sunday) [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Dearest Eddie

You seemed so tired your last letter, I thought I should give you freedom from writing me for a little while at least, but here I am writing you again, for it is hard to go very long without some word from you. Just to have an hello or to know you are well satisfies greatly.

I’ve been counting the days to the 4th or 5th. Can we have you until Sunday or Monday or longer? We want you as long as you can stay and you certainly need a good rest.

Have you all had three days of extreme heat? We have, and I don’t know what we would do without or electric fan - we’ve had little showers like “April showers”, but they have not cooled the air at all. But the heavier rains of a week ago have given an almost spring greenness to growing things, as well as nourished the green things called WEEDS.

The air observation posts here, and close around, have been inactivated for the present, due to good coastal defense, radar, etc., so I shall be freed from that duty unless it becomes necessary to re-activate this volunteer service.

We received a letter from [3351] recently, and she was wishing she could find herself a job in Norfolk or down your way and help you all out in her spare time. She was enthusiastic and sincere.

When I was at the Observation Post, soon after we returned from the Beach, I came across a 1938 copy of Scribner’s Magazine with a most interesting article on Eli Whitney [now [2012]], which I promptly forwarded to Mrs. [1663] for I knew she would like to have it. It pointed out that few of us, if any, realize that Whitney was the Father of mass production by machines, interchangeable parts and the automatic repetitives machine for he was the first one to develop such production and machines for the making of muskets.

Mrs. [1663] is a very lovely person, and, my, how many interesting entities have entered through her family. How fascinating it is going to be, watching these folk grow up - these whom we know who they have been before. Doesn’t it fill you with awe and wonder? for God, for Creation?

I haven’t told you yet, as I have told many others of the Congress Family, that I came home this year from Congress with a sense of feeling that almost all of my questions (mental) have been answered and organized for use in my mind. The basic principles for almost everything seem to have been found in all you have given us. They unify; they form something consistent - the most consistent set of Laws I have ever found in one place. I pray that I shall use them and apply them correctly.

What a marvelous privilege it is knowing you and having in you an answer for every question that comes!

We’re looking forward to the 4th or 5th - it can’t come too soon.

R7. 7/21/43 Dearest [2072]

Thanks for yours of the 18th - while haven’t much to say, feel would like to have a good long talk with you. But guess would wish the sort of preparations my grandfather used to like when he had occasion to talk with a friend - give me a bucket of ice water with a tin dipper in same a couple of nice easy chairs and we will sit under the trees hear the birds sing and gave a gab feast with them” that is my idea of a good time.

Guess was tired, but didn’t know I let my feelings run into my letters - you are just super sensitive aren’t you?

Don’t know as yet - but will let you know may have to go on an errand and come back to […] but will see you soon now feel sure of that unless something know not of comes up - but people are coming to see me from every which way, a lady here from Tenn. now her reading is tomorrow - another comes Saturday will be here several days - when do you reckon can write my letters while she is here - will have to ask - Susan Jane - [Betty Corson?] or whatever her name is - to come early or stay late don’t know which - but she is doing real well and is right cute little girl - and is the proverbial “cute” at that.

Pretty nice breeze - yet quite warm here, and with the rain and heavy dew - my the grass makes this place look so shabby just now man hasn’t been here in two weeks or more. Don’t think there would be any trouble in [3351] finding a job if she wished it in the Norfolk area, as every one is begging for help. Quite interesting the article you found on Whitney glad you sent it on to Mrs. [1663]. You are quite right am filled with awe and wonder at what we are told about some people we read for, and wonder how we have been permitted to even know them. Much less to contribute something to their unfoldment. That is lovely, to have your mind set at ease as it were and only have to get to work and work it out, is really wonderful. Do think we had one of the best meetings of all the years this time - and was so anxious about it as it was coming up - hope the congress report will show all the good that was done at this meeting, am getting anxious about that now but is something one can’t hurry along you know - and I do get my helpers cross at me now and then, and there isn’t much can do about it, except be GOOD and that seems just isn’t for me. Am too crabby.

Goodness me you say such nice things about me [2072] - wish was about half as nice as you paint me, but am trying like all get out and hope to arrive somewhere some time soon at that.

Have a little story to tell you tho in line with what you say about the line of reasoning in the work, and the consistency of it all - why have to be up and doing even when many feel am overtaxing myself. Don’t want to do that but must give give until it hurts and give again so long as can.

Miss Gladys gave me the address for you - so enclose same - this is one of the best foot ease remedies have ever tried - has cleared my feet of corns and burning feet, and like best have ever tried hope it works as well for you.

R8. 8/8/43 (Sunday afternoon) [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Dearest Eddie,

Do you know you made two people (and perhaps several others) a lot happier by your visit to them? Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

I came back home and couldn’t feel “down”, but only glad and happy because you had been here and because you’ll come back, now, whenever you can.

And may I say your presence here has added something lovely, deep and fine - something one is glad to have had the opportunity to have had.

Once again we know the Father answers prayers and we haven’t prayed all in vain.

When I came back upstairs after leaving the train I seemed drawn to the Christ picture and couldn’t help but think it rather significant that it came almost with you, and just as it was here yet after you left, that almost in the same manner there was a part of you still here with us ALWAYS now

• not the physical, perhaps, but something of your spiritual and soul - and that there IS an easier rapport or attunement possible between people when they have seen one another’s surroundings. Don’t you think? I find it so with me.

Well it was just a lovely visit and we expect it to be simply the beginning one of many.

Please give Mrs. Cayce our love and tell her we sincerely hope she shall be able to come with you on another visit before so very long.

Even your photograph here on our desk seems a mirror for going back over your sitting over there talking to us, the experiences, stories and everything.

Hope you got home without any further trouble to your leg and that you soon get that adjusted.

Hope, too, Mrs. Cayce and Gladys, and everyone concerned, will see that we hadn’t damaged you any and hope they find we’ve maybe helped to give you a boost, so they’ll let you come back again.

Dearest [2072]

Very sweet of you to take the time to write me Sunday afternoon. If I added any thing to the lives of you grand folks am indeed very happy for am sure before this you have my feeble effort to tell me how I have and do feel about the little visit.

Certainly very lovely as to how you felt about the place when you came in from the train, and to have been associated with the picture of the Christ is the loveliest complement that man could have paid him, Thank you, just hope and pray that I may ever live up to that idea of me. Feel that can with your and [1861]‘s help as you have been since the day met you at the train here in Norfolk, when you had just come from being married.

Oh yes Mrs. C was all thrilled that had such a lovely time and expresses a wish to be with me there some time, hope she will and can.

Wonder what you would think were you to walk in here now - have four Stenos trying to write the things I say to folks, as if any man could say any thing worthwhile that would keep that many busy writing each day, but heard Miss Gladys say last night for the first time in six months or more she was beginning to catch up.

R10. 8/12/43 (Thursday night) [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Dearest Eddie,

How I wanted to sit down and talk to you last evening and thank you for your lovely, lovely letter, but instead I spent the evening talking ABOUT you, for I went over to Mrs. […]‘s (on the opposite corner from the Episcopal Church) to ask her if she could go to the surgical dressing room today with me. (She knew of you [1771] and Mrs. [1770], of course) and when I said you had spent the week-end with us she became interested, and each thing I would tell her would interest her more and more and even brought forth this from her: “[2072], this is the most interesting talk I have ever had with you since I have known you.” Well, that delighted me no end, for there is nothing I would rather talk about than you and your work and THE work.

Then when I came home Mother began talking about you and the readings to Mr. […] and his young 16 year old son, who are roomers here downstairs. Mother liked you very much, as did […], and the [2828]‘s. Mrs. […] said she would have liked to listen to you all evening, but […] restlessness and [2828]‘s weariness made them leave early.

Well, you see, you made some new friends here, and I think I didn’t spend last evening badly even if I couldn’t write like I intended.

Mother has spoken of you often, and beautifully, since you left. We were sitting on the porch that evening and she looked over at the empty chair where you had related some of your experiences to us and said, “I miss him sitting over there.”

Well, people everywhere can’t help but LOVE you and think highly of you if only they’ll just sit down and listen to you talk. The sincerity you convey when you speak is something no one can doubt.

[1861] just asked me if I was writing to you and when I said yes he said, “Did you tell him he had a new booster in Mother?”

Again I say we did love your visit and are even now looking forward to the next one.

Eddie, you have said such lovely things about us and I know of course all those things you say about [1861] are true. Do you know we have still (but never will have, I know) to have our first argument. If we even get near to a point where we think we might have spoken so that it might seem to the other one like the beginning of an argument we become amused at ourselves and wind up laughing at ourselves, with a kiss and in one another’s arms. To get near an argument reminds us of comic sheets and hen-pecked people and then we just can’t keep from laughing.

Oh, the Home compliment was beautiful, coming from you, and in the light of what I read, from the compilation on Child Training: “The highest of man’s achievements in the earth…the HOME!” I had never, until I read that, valued that at so much in my own reading which said, “Be the Home and in the Home for the greater expression!” and I don’t believe I yet quite understand how “it is the highest achievement.” I can see how harmonious home life for a family is a perfect ideal, but it seems such a little thing to have done or accomplished.

If you found or gained, as you say, strength and peace here, nothing could ever make us happier. That is really something lovely to give, and to be those ones where another might have received it. It is a wonderful thing. We would like so much to be able to give those things to you, indeed.

Our prayers, daily, are that we may more and more glorify the Christ Life and God and that we may become channels for His Will. Now, perhaps, though more than expressing, we must fit ourselves for expression. But we can TRY hard to do all those things we believe to be acceptable. You have made us want to try harder and you have been the one to put us on the right road, as it were.

I think back over my years from 12 to the time I first heard of you, when I was searching, - searching all persons and books for something. No one seemed to have the Whole Law or something that was complete and satisfying in all respects, or seemed to be trying to express it in their daily life. It was a bewildering world - somewhat clarified when I read Theosophy - but still there were some questions. Then when I found you I found everything - a consistent philosophy - yes even to love. I think it is I who should thank YOU for “just being you.”

(Friday morning) Your letter came this morning and thank you again. We were glad Mrs. Cayce was happy about your visit and sincerely hope she will come with you again and before so very long. It would be lovely to have her. Would love to have Gladys, too, sometime when camp conditions have subsided so we have more room.

[1861] said he saw Mr. […] recently and that the [2967] boy had gotten away from whoever was caring for him, one day while walking, and hidden in someone’s home, so they immediately brought him back to […]. Too bad!

Well, I shall have to do some looking after surgical dressings the next two weeks, for Miss Lila Reed is going on her vacation and has asked me to look after two of our three production rooms. She’s going to Roanoke Hotel and just “be quiet and rest all she can” she said.

We’re mighty glad to hear of those stenos working. You’re getting to have quite an office force! Yes, EVERYTHING you say is worthwhile and I think you need a great deal of help (all that’s necessary) to say it.

We ordered the Music Box for you last night. Do hope they have it, or one, in stock. Mother told me to get myself another set of discs so I chose the Classical group. It will be quite a contrast with [1861]‘s recordings but their lovely little tinkling notes have a place all their own, don’t you think? The crystal for the phonograph has not yet come.

Hope it will very, very soon for we’re getting SO hungry for some of our records. If the tunes on your Music Box are not what you would like to hear as often as you will take a cigarette from your box please don’t hesitate to inquire about the tunes from the Co. and send it back for another. Dearest [2072]

Seem so little to just say thank you for such a very beautiful love letter written the evening of the 12th, would be lovely wouldn’t it could we but run in and have a nice long chat now and then - O maybe that will all come about in due time. Ah Ha, talking about me have you, wish might been along the side and heard what you had to say, and you not known I was there, heard the book discussed on the train coming back from your house and they wouldn’t believe me when told them I was the one it was about, until one of them got the book and looked at the picture.

Oh that was the lady who came with Mrs. [1770] to meet [1861], when he came to the Beach the first time. [1861] looks so much better than he did at that time. Not bad possibly to be the subject of an interesting conversation, first thing you know you will have me famous in some people’s minds won’t you?

Ah am glad Mrs. […] was not too much displeased with me, would do much to gain her favor, but would never know just how to court favor, by His Grace I am what I am, and I trust not too ill pleasing in His sight.

Oh yes am sending you with this a report recently sent me - have to tell you how it all came about, think have mentioned to you a Mr. [1646], an executive in big business there also an Spiritualist in the Quaker faith, he spoke of a group he attended, a Mrs. Palmquist who received messages purported to be from the Prophet Hosea, on the 6th she sent me a message said to be from Hosea - tell me what you think of it, you and [1861] study it over - don’t think you will hurt my feelings any, but tell me what you think.

Glad to know made friends, am one of those who believe one can never have too many friends, nor have so many they can afford to lose a single one.

Please thank Mrs. […] for me - will never forget her kindness and can tell her I just fell in love with her at once. Thank you my dear lady - but believe you are some what prejudiced in my favor don’t you think so, but can I carry that something as may convince each one that I have and do walk with HIM, for only seek to be a channel of blessings to each and every one if possible, you recall my mission just now - “Warn my people”. [1/5/43 Dream - see under 2722-5 Reports; also 7/10/43 see dream had by EC, written to Mrs. [3361], under 294-196 Reports.] Good - thank [1861] and your self for persuading his Mother to be a booster for the work, for never think of it as a personal thing, but what I am trying to be a Channel that will tell of the Love of Jesus, who became the Christ.

Well [2072] could never say enough lovely things about you and [1861] you are as near the ideal couple as it has been my pleasure to know - am just selfish enough and vain enough to hope may - the work I mean - of having helped the match, am I foolish, won’t hurt if you say NO. But am sure you know just how you feel about you two, love you just as if you were my very own loved ones for you are just that to me.

It’s lovely [2072], how you manage your arguments, keep them like that life will grow sweeter - so long as you do. The loveliest Home have ever had the privilege of being a guest in, not accepting any - HOME - to me should be the miniature of Heaven, the place each thinks of as the threshold of heaven for man could never find his way back to God alone so he was given a wife together they open again the gates of Paradise, at least see Heaven from afar, just how far, as to how near heaven the Home kept. And there are no arguments there.

It is the little things my dear that makes up real love real happiness it is the little things that are the hardest for each of us to do - they have to be just part of us, and never put on, or taken off, part of us, see what I mean.

Oh yes - a peace haven’t found often, never in and among people before, makes me have more hope for the world, and a strength feel can call on for realize am often very weak myself, but with such friends, reminds me of a line something like this: “I did not know God loved me so, until I found you my friends” - Thank you - can I but say, do or be a something to make you think and feel you wish to know the Christ way better - then am at least not slipping as I go.

Oh you make me real happy [2072], when you say finding me has meant something to you, while ours is an unusual remembrance, am so convinced each day of its verity, it is the greatest privilege of my life to know you and [1861] and call you my real loved ones, to me the greatest proof of survival of LIFE, and then to see it so beautifully demonstrated in your lives - it something really overwhelming at times, do you see what I mean?

Yes - think have made Mother [GC] a bit jealous that she wasn’t along on my visit, hope she may be some time soon.

Oh am so sorry to hear of the failure of the [2967]‘s to take advantage of the opportunity they had - some I fear give up too easily, others never get just what change is to take place in their way of thinking, but do hope that young man will have the opportunity to fill his place in society.

Keep busy then these next few weeks but give us a thought now and then especially at 10.30 of morning and 3.30 in the afternoon - thank you.

Thanks - that will be the loveliest thing to have ever - just a constant reminder, hope the tune will be something as reminds me of [1861] or you or both, will ask if don’t like the tune.

R12. 8/22/43 (Sunday) [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Dearest Eddie,

Your last was such a nice long letter and so much appreciated. Did you mean that we should keep the pictures? I liked the one with the wider margin best for the majority, except we can’t see Gladys’ face here, and Mrs. Dillman and Miss Wynne and some others are missing. They are certainly nice to have each year.

The phonograph crystal has come, and [1861] is even more pleased with his reproduction now than he was before. Can’t you come back soon now and enjoy some of those albums you could only look at before? We’d love to have you and as often as possible.

Wonder if you have received your musical cigarette box? I haven’t received the discs or heard from either company as yet. Perhaps they shall come this coming week.

Yes we both feel we miss a great deal by not living nearby to you. Would be nice to live as near as we used to in Kentucky, anyway. My one consolation is that perhaps we may be the means of bringing you, & that which you teach, into the lives of some few others that might not otherwise hear of you and your work - and to give those that are looking some assurance of God and of Christ.

Ah, yes, perhaps it would be hard to put into words just how you helped the marriage of [2072] and [1861], but shall never forget when [1861] handed me his first physical reading and how it impressed me that here was one who could reach into God and people for truths. [1861]‘s rather indirect question in his Life Reading, as to whether he should marry “the girl to whom he was engaged” was answered with the rather general statement, “if we found ourselves congenial to one another” and the statement that he should marry someone born in December or January almost spoiled things and made him wonder if he were wrong for a little while, though until my Life Reading [2072-1] helped us along by saying we had been companions, and father and daughter as well as Mother and son. But here we are, all of us, pretty close together again, so there must be purpose, reasons and influences, and I believe they are deep, fine and good, and you may be sure you have helped them and helped us in far more ways than we can say.

Anyway I’m mighty glad you were in this old world still, and even if I had to come again to find you. Don’t just know whether I’d done a very good job this lifetime if you hadn’t been here; but since you’re here one feels they can pick up the best of themselves from past lives and go on, perhaps adding more good to it than they might have had they not known about themselves and what this ol’ world is “is all about anyway.” For to have the certainty just that - “what this ol’ world is all about” - gives me a certainty of which direction to go anyway.

You asked us to tell you what we thought, or think, of the message from Mrs. Palmquist. Thank you for letting us read it. All spiritualists think they have a guiding spirit and so they and their guiding spirit believe everyone else who is psychic has too. Hadn’t she just read your book and probably ask her “guide” about you? I think I am prejudiced to the Readings and what they say about you. The time you and the famous woman spiritualist (I’ve forgotten her name) [Eileen Garrett - See 507-1 and 507-2.] were together, that which came thru her, in trance, explained that she was “guided” by someone on the other plane, but your Reading, given by you, said that you had no so-called person guiding you but that because of your development you obtained your information directly from the Akashic Records. And do not the Readings themselves urge us ever to seek not those other persons but to seek within ourselves - seek for God for all Truth? Others, teachers, may be a means, a guiding to Truth, but only He is the Truth, the Way, and the light; and there is no other whole Truth. No, there would be the element of human error if you had a guide directing you in the giving of the Readings. I believe, as the Readings say, that you obtain your information directly from each individual consciousness

The Bible just doesn’t agree with this sort of thing either, does it, Eddie? It warns us against such, doesn’t it somewhere?

You gave me a nice little lecture on the source of your information and how one “must, should prove self worthy” to accomplish same. Maybe you would like to read it in my Mental & Spiritual Reading of June 23rd, 1942. [1/23/41 - See 2072-4.]

No, I’d rather believe the Readings than accept what another person’s guiding spirit says about you. The Readings would not seem to confirm that you need a mediator or “Mouthpiece to you of the Word of God” for they say to us all that if we attune to Him, He will speak to us directly.

I didn’t mean this as a lecture, for you already have your own feeling regarding it, but as I read back over it, I was afraid it sounded like you might think I was lecturing you. I didn’t mean it so, nor did I mean any disrespect for Mrs. Palmquist. I just believe she means well, but she and her spirit, or guide may misinterpret facts OR might be seeking you as a customer, hoping maybe you will come to her to know more about “Anthros.” Somehow, messages thru spiritualists don’t ever seem to be so thoroughly consistent as the Readings. In fact they seem to mix things up into a mess. I wonder why?

But you should be telling me what YOU think, for it, no doubt would be more correct than what I THINK. As for me, as you see, I just have a very strong prejudice against spiritualists and the fallibility of their “guides”.

Wish I could have been in your pocket listening with you to the discussion about the book and you on the train. Tell us what they said. Did they believe it was true?

“Foot life” softened callouses on [1861]‘s feet and […]‘s corn came off after he used some of it. Think I noticed some difference in my feet, too, although it is cooler now, and they only bother me in hot weather.

Dearest [2072] and [1861]

Thanks a lot for yours of the 22nd, had thought we had been busy, but guess time was only preparing me for what was to come have you seen the Article in current Sept. issue of Coronet, do read it that with every thing else has about doubled the mail for last few days that will doubtless die off after few days, but the people that are drifting in here to see me, gets me and takes up time to be sure want to give them all can but not take it away from those to whom the time is promised. But all is well, feel fine and hope to weather the storm. Pray with and for me that do.

Sure keep the pictures, glad you liked them thought they would be well for your book, a great temptation to come back, but will do just that some of these days.

No, the Box hasn’t shown up as yet, will be along presently I am sure just many many thanks, certainly sweet of you, and will be a constant reminder when ever I take a smoke, and that may be too often who knows.

Would be nice to have you near, still feel possibly will yet some how some way, yes wouldn’t it be nice to live in the house next door.

Well if was any help any mind any way in getting you and [1861] together this time, feel as if did a nice thing, and tickles me so that Mother […] is so pleased. That is wonderful. Well just had to be near you some how what is it that “Paul says” “Love never faileth” so must have been very young but very sincere love you see - but has grown and to me become a very very beautiful thing, and the blossom is lovely

Ah Ha, thank you for what you say about the message [2072], know don’t have to tell you what I think, that this may be tied up with the vision of the man at time heard the bees [See 294-185, Par. 20-A] is at least of interest, but still, don’t just get the significance of it all, no, prefer to take HIS word, and then if HE chooses to give me assurances now and then all is well - that is different - directions tho “I am the Way” is sufficient for me, there can be but the One Christ. Very easy with so much talk to get side tracked - but hope never do, for am determined to know nothing among men save, Jesus as the Christ, and Him crucified. O no would never think of what you said as a lecture, just good hard common sense, and the word from one who cared and would not have me forget what had been told me, for an easier way. Thank you for it all.

Was funny to hear three people discussing the book, and wondering how much was fiction, and how much truth, each were coming to the Norfolk area for the first time, and said they would look the man up - they have since called but haven’t come out, as hear them introduce them selves to each other am wondering if they will remember having seen when they come out.

Fine - foot life is one of the best things for feet have ever seen - glad is helpful to your folks also.
