This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of February, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2109], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born October 27, 1888, in Morganza, Pennsylvania. Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over the years from the present - ” - ‘34 - some experiences! - ‘32, ‘31, ‘30 - ‘17 - a changing period - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the record here of that entity now known as or called [2109].

4. These as we find are rather unusual. A great deal of what is termed today called hieroglyphics, and especially of the Egyptian ware and ornaments, especially the scarab, should be a part of the entity’s apparel at all times.

5. One of the great outstanding experiences of the entity, or the great outstanding experience (for there have been more than one that appear to have an influence in the present) was in the Egyptian environs.

6. Hence we find, irrespective of what the entity has done so far in this experience about same, things not necessarily oriental but that are Egyptian in their design or nature have an influence in the experience of the entity. The environs or vibrations may be altered with this scarab, and especially - upon occasions when there is to be a great deal of association with large groups - the fleur de lis as an emblem about the body.

7. These carry their import according to that the entity has given as confidence at periods in their meanings in the associations with others. Hence they would bring not only what is at times called charm, but also a charm as of a protective nature.

8. In giving the interpretations of the records, as we find them here, these are chosen with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling it to become aware of that consciousness of its oneness with the universal purposes of a creative energy or force, or of God, with man. And in this awareness the entity may become more conscious of the purposes for which it entered this present experience, - and how, and in what manner, the application of the entity’s abilities may be used for the greater development, to bring greater assurance, and more peace and harmony in the experience.

9. There are astrological aspects, but in this entity’s experience these have been little, - though they have brought and do bring urges which are latent, but more because of the manner of the entity’s application in its material sojourns that give the urge in those directions that are as a part of the whole experience of the entity.

10. From the Jupiterian sojourn we find more of a universal consciousness.

11. In Saturn we find the changes.

12. Venus, - the love of home; and the desires to see, to know, to experience the security of same in the experiences of others.

13. Yet all of these urges are oft submerged or subservient to the will. For, no influence or urge surpasses the birthright of each individual soul, - the awareness of that relationship to the Creative Forces. And the greater the awareness, the more easily is the will made one with the purposes of the Creative Forces.

14. Hence the injunction would be the more: Study to show self approved unto thy ideal, rightly divining and dividing the words of truth, keeping self in all good consciousness to the faith and the hope which rests within the own consciousness. And, as the body is the temple of the living consciousness, as the body is body-physical, as the mind is both of the physical and the universal consciousness, the soul the relationship to the Creative Forces, keep these in their various spheres of activity in such ways and manners as to be approved unto that ye worship in thine inner self.

15. Then, as will be seen from the form of activity through other material sojourns, these draw upon or build or give a great imagination at times; the feelings of great longings for the accomplishing of things within self, to be aware of - and closer associated with - that which is constructive and creative in its nature and in its relationships with others.

16. And, as has been indicated in His promises to man, let there be renewed a new purpose within self, bringing a new awareness of the spirit of truth, that you may indeed be made free; knowing that ye are indeed the child of the living God, and - as ye are in keeping with His purposes for man - a brother with those energies, or the consciousness, of the living Christ.

17. As to the appearances in the earth, these bring emotions, and yet few of these have been satisfied in the present experience. Yet these longings indicate those activities in which there has been that set forth in ways and manners such that there has been the activity in the lives of others through those experiences in which the entity has been active.

18. Then, be not faint in that of well-doing. For, this period has been and is to be one as of an observer, and a period of determination within self to fill those places, those purposes which have been a part of the experience. And as there is set before thee those conditions in which there may be brought the more and more awareness of thy relationship to the Creative Forces, keep the faith in Him, who is able to sustain, even unto the utmost. For He faileth not in those things that would put away fear and doubt, and bringeth joy and understanding.

19. Before this the entity was in the land now called the French, during those periods when there were the activities known as the Holy Wars.

20. There we find the entity was among those who were in charge of affairs, with the greater part of the men being active in defense of a purpose, an ideal, for the saving of a place, or of an idea.

21. Hence in the present the independence, and yet the desire for the care of that which would bring the hope of a home into the experience of the young, as a place of safety, as a place of development; the experiences in the lives of those who would spend the greater part of their lives for activities in which there would be the giving of self for the greater privileges for others as to their security, without the fear of want in regard to material things, or without the fear of those things that would bring hardships into the material experiences of others.

22. Then, we find that the entity gained throughout. And during a portion of those experiences the fleur de lis became as an emblem of security. So it may in the present bring the more of the awareness, in the very vibrations of same, of freedom, and yet the dependence of one upon another for things that may bring safety or security into the experiences of the many.

23. Before that the entity was in the land now known as the English land, during the very early developments there of a people who were a part of the tribes that had been dispersed with Hezekiah’s [descendants] being carried into captivity in the Chaldean land. [II Kings 20:17—18]

24. The entity was the younger of the queen’s household that came into the England land, - the name Ariel. In the experience the entity aided its companions, - those of its own household, of its own families or tribes, - as they were known in those periods, - to establish homes, places of refuge, places for the protection of individuals as well as groups, when hardships or turmoils would arise in their experience.

25. In the present we find the desires, innate and manifested, and the channels or outlets through which the greater awareness and consciousness of the abilities to aid may come, - in advice with, and in counseling with, others.

26. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land. There the entity was an offspring of the great queen that was so water minded in the affairs of the Egyptian experience.

27. Then in the name Has-het, the entity was the daughter of Hatsherpsut and aided in carrying on much of that in a social, in a political manner or fashion in the experience, which had been set in motion by its forbears.

28. Thus the entity was acquainted with the hardships of those who were in servitude, as well as those activities of those who ruled by might and power. But by the very activities of the entity throughout the experience and sojourn in that experience, peace and harmony remained with the peoples of the entity through that sojourn.

29. Hence in the present there are those influences through which, by counsel, by advice, by the very presence of self, the entity may bring to the experiences of others - and those in the developing years, as well as those who are disturbed by the turmoils about them - those forces which may aid them in becoming aware of the necessity to depend upon right and not might, and those influences which come with the light of good, and the spiritual import of life, in the experiences and associations and activities.

30. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there was the reestablishing of the Priest in that land, - when the turmoils were being allayed, when there were the preparations for the coalition of activities from the Atlantean land as well as from the land of Said (?).

31. The entity was among those who aided the more in the establishing of a place for the records of those peoples, and the recording of the tenets and laws pertaining to that which would bring about the coalition of the activities in a systematic manner, in which there might come peace and harmony. Thus we find the entity aided also in counseling with the King, - the Young King who had been established there, - for the building of homes, communities, places of safety for the young and the old.

32. And these are the experiences in which the entity may find in the present the activities in which there may come the greater comprehension of, the greater outlet for, the abilities of the entity, - in the advice and counsel to those who may seek through the channels of those activities that are being re-established, as it were, in that land which was spoken of by the prophets of old, as well as the seers of that day, - the land in which the rivers divide, and the wings of His might and power protect, and in which the visions of all nations may be correlated into one.

33. Hence, in the developing of that to which the entity may attain in the present:

34. Be not impatient in self nor with others, - yet aid in the preservation of those records, of those activities in which there may come again to many the awareness of their relationships to the Creative Forces.

35. Thus may the entity bring to self that peace which passeth understanding, and which gives the assurance of, “Well done, thou good and faithful one.”

36. Ready for questions.

37. (Q) Can you tell me if I have any special work to do, and if so what? (A) As just indicated, - the aiding of those activities in which the records and the activities of individuals may aid them in establishing better homes, better communities, better environments for the mental and spiritual welfare of others.

38. (Q) Have I been connected with [2113] in any other life? (A) These can best be seen by paralleling their activities in those sojourns in which they were active in their particular sphere of endeavor.

39. (Q) Should I wear just any scarab, or a special scarab? (A) The particular scarab that was a portion of Hathersput’s period. This is the one that has the horns.

40. (Q) Did I have the experience called illumination or cosmic consciousness, in this incarnation? (A) As indicated, - how oft has remaining quiet aided thee in seeing and feeling and experiencing the full cosmic consciousness! Yes!

This is found, as has been the experience, by the opening of those channels within the physical body through which the energies of the Infinite are attuned to the centers through which physical consciousness, mental activity, is attained, - or in deep meditation.

41. (Q) Can I help [2156]? How? (A) By the awareness of calling upon the universal consciousness to be in accord with that which may bring the better forces into the experience of [2156].

42. (Q) Had I something to do with the protecting of the ancient Atlantean or mystic records in the Pyramid? (A) As has been indicated, the entity was one who insisted upon the preparation of the HOME for these! Hence the aid in the present that should be given to the records that are of import in all spiritual undertakings.

Many things to do.

I would be very gratified if your kind and courteous son would give me a further slight explanation of my life reading (of Feb. 22nd 1940 - No. [2109-2]) - page 3 - 2nd paragraph - and the last paragraph of page 4 - rather the first paragraph of page 5. Is this land Egypt?

I should be awfully grateful for any explanations he is inspired to give.

However, would he be good enough to write as soon as possible since I hope to sail March 9th. [Last two pages of letter used in 2109-1 Reports.]

R3. 3/5/40 HLC’s letter to [2109]:

Dear Miss [2109]

My father gave me your letter of March 3rd.

I wish that I might talk with you about this reading rather than attempt an explanation of two isolated passages. When opportunity permits let us go over all of it carefully.

You recognized, of course, the relation between the two sections about which you asked questions. Since the reading is given in reverse, the earliest appearances are given last, we should begin with the Egyptian incarnation.

A few preliminary statements will be in order. My father has given almost a thousand Life Readings. Among this number about one hundred and fifty include Egyptian incarnations of this particular period. By this particular period, I mean that one designated by the key words “reestablishing of the Priest” and “coalition of activities from the Atlantean land.” By comparing all those incarnations from various individual readings and through special readings asking about the history of the period, we have been able to connect certain facts.

The date of the period is approximately 10,550 B.C. Poseida, the last island of the great Atlantean continent which existed in the Atlantic ocean, sank and the people came to Egypt. They arrived during a disturbing period, there was a conflict between church and state. The High Priest was in banishment and native rebellions were threatening the power of the government.

About fifty years before the above date a war-like tribe had moved like a swarm of locust into Egypt from the Carpathian mountain region. They were led by a stubborn old king who was pushed on by a young priest who prophesied a great civilization in Egypt. The King, obeying the priest, conquered Egypt and made the Priest, the High Priest of Egypt. There were rebellions among the natives, so the Old King withdrew and placed his young son on the throne at the age 16. It is this young king to whom your reading refers. Counselors were appointed to assist the boy king. Some of these men were opposed to the power of the priest and sought to destroy his power. They finally were able to bring about his banishment for a period of nine years. It was during this period of banishment the natives rose in a bloody rebellion, and the Young King’s brother tried to divide the Kingdom. These were the turmoils that were being allayed as mentioned in your reading. Under the direction of the Priest who returned in triumph a great civilization arose in Egypt.

Two important temples, the Temple of Sacrifice, and the Temple Beautiful, were established. In the Temple of Sacrifice individuals passed through steps of purification, during which they gave up all those things that hindered the spiritual growth. In the Temple Beautiful there were courses in training for those who would go out to serve - in hospitals, in teaching, as missionaries to other lands and in services of all kinds.

The Atlanteans brought many new customs and teachings. About this same time people from Said (a High Priest in India) came bearing messages to High Priest in Egypt. It was necessary to correlate all these various teachings and give the people the benefit of them.

The great progress made during this period was the correlation of the best thought from the outstanding teachers of the period and the translation of these teachings into practical help for the masses of people.

You counseled with the Young King in establishing a place for the records and in recording the teachings of these various groups. Later you were active in building, that is in planning and directing the building, of homes and communities for the masses.

This period is of special interest to us and we are always happy to find individuals who fit into that experience. This Egyptian age was the important developing experience for my father in relation to his present work. He was the High Priest, who was the inspiration for the conquest of Egypt, was raised to power, was banished and returned to head a great civilization.

I was the Young King. Today I am striving to repay the debt created by the turmoil and strife that arose. Much was accomplished then, but this work is carried over into the present life.

Your reading advises that you could find an outlet for your talents and abilities in counseling with and advising those who come seeking through these same channels (the guidance of the priest - today Edgar Cayce). These truths as proclaimed in Egypt and correlated with the teachings from all lands are being reestablished through his efforts now in America, spoken of and prophesied about by the prophets of old, the land of many rivers.

It was during the period described that a record chamber (a small pyramid) now buried was built to house the teachings and records. This is mentioned again in your questions.

Now turn to the paragraph on page three. This is an admonition to strengthen your ideals and purposes. God has promised man that he will show the way, if man will seek. You have been seeking and a way has been shown. It is time for you to awaken a purpose within. It will be a renewing of a purpose which was made part of the soul memory in Egypt. This will bring freedom, a realization that you are a child of God and as you make your will one with his purposes for man you become one with the consciousness of Christ.

This is a very beautiful promise. One that indicates considerable development and the possibility great spiritual attainment in this life.

Nothing that I can explain will mean as much as the inner conviction regarding the value of the information in my father’s readings. I like to call it “clicking”. For many the physical readings are phenomenal, but there are those few who sense the truth of the spiritual teachings, the comprehensiveness, the sincerity of the channel.

I understand that you are leaving shortly for Italy. I am sending you some leaflets and booklets under separate cover. Perhaps you will have time to go over them carefully. When you return let us discuss your reading more fully.

I am happy that you enjoyed your trip to Virginia Beach, and that you found Dr. Backman helpful.

“You may also be interested to learn that Mrs. [her sister] found a most beautiful genuine scarab of the period designated in Miss [2109]‘s Life Reading and gave it to her as a leaving gift. It had the “horns” on it which is a very unusual thing to find according to scarab experts. A reliable psychic told her that it was one that originally belonged to her and that the law of vibration had brought it back into her life. Understandable even if difficult for some to believe.”

Dear Mr. Cayce -

Many thanks for your very kind and helpful letter. I do long to talk with you about the whole reading. Alas I won’t be in America this spring if you come to New York - it will have to be for some other time.

It is fascinating to have such a clear description of that early Egyptian age - and it is also fascinating to hear of the small pyramid.

Oh by the way I saw the paintings, Egyptian, of Mrs. Strickland [Virginia Strickland] (I THINK that is her name) of which [2113] spoke. They are really remarkable and at the same time very beautiful. You MUST see them when you go to New York. Miss [2113] could arrange it, I am sure.

Did I tell you that I found the scarab your father told me of? Isn’t that wonderful? I’ll tell you all about it when I see you.
