This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of March, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2150], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1942].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Colorado.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2150] with the disturbances and those applications which have been attempted at various times.
-
This is a most interesting condition, and one where a great deal might be given as to the effect and cause of conditions, - as well as administrations that might be made in various ways for disturbances through the body.
-
Owing to the very nature or character of the condition, it has been of somewhat long standing - as related to the body, and has been very assidious, as well as insidious or hidden a great deal of the time.
-
As we find, the effect to the assimilating system and the distribution of that assimilated through the body, has been and is the basic cause of the disturbance, - owing to some infectious forces which have long existed with the body, and the various changes in the chemical forces of the body itself, with the activity upon various portions of the organisms of the body, as their functioning is related one to another. These have caused the greater distresses.
-
The administrations as curative measures have been of little value.
-
The indications are that the more recent applications, to assist in the correction of affected or disordered conditions, or to allow for the adjustment of the bodily forces themselves to a better reaction, have been and are proving, and will prove to be, the more valuable administrations, - through the relationships of bringing better influences for the bodily structure itself.
-
For, these conditions are of such a nature that drosses are left upon the activity of organs, - as in the lungs, the liver and the kidneys, - by the slow activity of the blood stream itself through same. These are the basic forces that must be stimulated, as well as that activity through the assimilation of foods and their values.
-
Hence the proper diet and the application of nature’s forces with the bodily conditions will bring the better influences for the body.
-
As we find, then, - the better natures will be the use of the lights, of electrical vibration especially with the color effect upon the vibratory forces of the system; to increase the vibrations and activities to coordinate with the internal or the deeper forces in the nerve supply to the superficial activity.
-
Hence a massage, with diet, with the lights - both of the Ultra-Violet (very shortly given; that is, the period of activity should be short) and the Infra Red with a green light between it and the body - would be the more effective; as with the massage and stimulating internally the activities for the better circulation.
-
The massage should be of general nature, that releases or relaxes the central portion of the nervous system as related to the activity of the organs indicated as being disturbed. Hence the lower portion of the cervical and upper portion of the dorsal areas, 9th dorsal and the lumbar axis, are the particular areas to be covered; though a general massage would be good for the body, to stimulate circulation and better eliminations. In this particular case, a good masseur would be better than an osteopath, if he knows the anatomy of the body.
-
We would keep to that diet which has been outlined for the body.
-
Do these; keeping to those applications which have been the more recently made, and adding the rays as here indicated; we will bring the better conditions for this body of [2150].
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/30/40 Mr. [1942]‘s letter: “As yet Dr. B. J. D’Armond of Denver has not mailed me a copy of the physical reading of Mr. [2150].”
R2. 9/5/40 Mr. [1942]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Ass’n for R. & E. Inc. Virginia Beach, Va;
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
You will remember a reading given Mr. [2150] of Denver, on March 19th 1940.
Dr. D’Armond who had been treating Mr. [2150] for several weeks before the reading above mentioned, had a copy of same and he wrote me regarding same on May 16th 1940, copy of letter attached.
In checking his criticism of the reading I note as follows, Quote;. “Owing to some infectious forces which have long existed in the body” - The reading does not indicate the type of infection, nor does it give the location.
Quote;. “We would keep to that diet which has been outlined for the body” - Please note that the reading does not outline a diet for Mr. [2150].
Would you be good enough to give me further information regarding the two questions, and if you see fit to answer Dr. D’Armond’s letter or make any comments on it, I will appreciate it very much.
Yours very truly, [1942]

Dear Mr. [1942]:-
You will find the reading of Mr. [2150] enclosed. Perhaps you can translate it for me. As far as I can see the report of this reading is so vague and indefinite - that the scientific value would be practically nill. I have read it many times and except for one or two points I can’t seem to boil anything down to where it means anything to me. The things I can get out of it are these: 1 - There seems to be some abnormality of the digestive tract and of the metabolism of foods assimilated, and this is due to a source of infection which has been so assididious and insidicious that it has effected the chemistry of the body and the functions of the various organs - . Now note that it does not mention where the infection is nor what organs are effected nor what is the abnormal chemistry. It does however, mention that drosses are left on the lungs, liver, and kidney and this is due to poor circulation. Well, this sort of a statement can be made of nearly any disease. The Osteopath has long since learned that “the rule of the artery is supreme” - that if circulation is normal the tissue is most likely to be normal also. And, of course, it is to this end that Osteopathic treatments have been given. However, only temporary and partial improvement has been made at any time. Now the next positive point brought out is in regard to treatment, i.e., massage, Ultra Violet Rays - Infra red rays - and electrical vibration - and diet. Now note that he doesn’t mention what kind of electrical vibration - (there are many different types of electrical treatments) and he doesn’t prescribe a diet of any sort tho his letter leads me to believe that he had intended to. As for the Ultra-Violet and infra-red rays
- Mr. [2150] gets both of those sufficiently by being out of doors. So you see that the only thing not being done for him is the using of the green light with which we are not equipped. He has been advised as to diet - and general habits of living.
He has been treated Osteopathically - and has been exposed to the various rays mentioned. Also he has been checked for infection which we were not able to find. Now, if this reading could be of any value to me - it would have to tell me the Nature and site of the infection - what are the nature of the disturbed assimilative functions and the nature of disturbed chemistry and metabolism of the body, besides suggesting treatment methods which have not as yet been tried. He does none of these.
It is impossible for me to make a diagnosis on such a vague report. It was necessary for me to read the entire report many times before I could even get at any of the possible implications and the paragraph I checked still has no meaning whatsoever.
Now, I believe it is evident that for anything to be of any scientific value it must be positive and explicit and accurate. It cannot rest on implications. This report has none of these necessary characteristics.
Now it may be that you can get meanings out of this that I cannot - for I’m not familiar with methods of communication on ‘the other side’! If so, please enlighten me.
(Signed) B. J. D’Armond
R3. 9/10/40 EC’s ltr. to Dr. [1942]:
Dear Dr. [1942]:-
Thanks very much for yours of the 5th - enclosing the letter from Dr. D’Armond, enclosed you will find a feeble attempt to write him - but a very sincere one I assure you. We have often had such experiences where there was criticism already manifested - or where it was existant. WHY I do not know and please know am not trying to make an excuse - am sure each and every reading will not prove helpful. But the percentage seems high enough to warrant a systamatic study of the work. But do we run into those who say there can’t be no matter what is said - we are already lost. Assure you as said to Dr. D’Armond if we can be of help here for Mr. [2150] am happy to try and do so - and no cost to any one - but the desire now must be from Mr. [2150].
The answers mentioned - possibly leaves the Dr. to use his own judgement and if he wishes further help on specific - to ask for same - that has been the case in many - and - possibly many more where the Dr. simply said all bosh.
Am not sufficiently versed in anatomy to know whether there is sense in the answers - or whether it is just too vague for any worth, at least it must have been in the right direction.
Can we help in any way here - just know am glad to do so thanking you for your letter - hoping all is well with you and yours
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
R4. 9/10/40 EC’s ltr. to Dr. D’Armond:
Dear Dr. D’Armond;-
Yours of May 16th to Dr. [1942], is before me am very glad to have your letter and the report regards Mr. [2150]. We are trying Dr. to be of a service where ever we can, know it is not possible in each case but there has been such consistent help gained from the information that has come through these channels, that it seems worthwhile. Am very sure it is as was expressed by a Dr. some years ago - “if you are trying to find fault - it is there in each reading, but if you are really looking for help, more often than otherwise you will certainly find it also”. As regards Mr. [2150] have nothing to say, you know whether it might be of use or not, if not would be the last to suggest even that you pay any attention to the reading. Oft time we have found very definite information is not given, when there is even and air of criticism. Possibly that precludes there ever being any scientific reason for presuming there might be help, possibly just the reverse. But for over 40 years now have had the opinion of some of the best Dr.’s in most of the schools, and especially in the Osteopath from Dr. Still himself on down to the present day, that there is much to be gotten from the information does one take the time to really consider it at all.
If Mr. [2150] is not on the improve would be very glad to still try and help (no cost to any one) but is he getting better and would not wish to interfere in any way. Will be glad tho to try and help in any way possible.
Thanking you
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
