-
GC: You will have before you the physical and mental conditions of this body, and these surrounding same, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, with the physical and mental conditions of same.
-
Those as surround the body are at an at-variance with many of the physical forces of the body.
-
These are physical conditions that need rather care and attention in a different manner from that as has been administered at times; for we see the condition physically was brought on by a complication of conditions that involved direct or specific physical conditions, and also worries that were of the nature that the body could be taken advantage of, by those that could prey upon the mental attitude of the body. These advantages have been taken in instances, ESPECIALLY so as respecting disposition of certain properties, and of personal effects that have been placed in such ways and manners that these will cause troubles when those conditions arise, unless there are changes made.
-
These physical conditions of the body, [2222] we are speaking of, show that under different environment - and under different application of physical effects for the body - the body may be brought to a more active and a more lasting attitude in the physical, and much change - with improved physical - in the mental outlook by and for the body.
-
In the application of those things we find, while the manipulation as has been and as is being accorded the body from time to time is effective; yet there ARE - and have been, as given - those things applied and supplied to the body that are detrimental, both physical and mental, in the form of narcotics - that take from the mental, and do not add to the physical well-being of the body.
-
Applications of massage and adjustment, with electrical appliance, would be WELL - were these applied in the proper way and manner - and the diminishing of those sedatives and narcotics that keep the mental so unbalanced.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What should be done for the best health of this body? (A) Change the environmental conditions of the body in a manner that will not bring the bad effect to the body. Under existent circumstances, one could not demand that those in charge of body relinquish at once their care and attention without detrimental effects to the well-being of the body mentally and physically, but one could demand and call in one of the same profession as one in charge, and through this means have the changes brought about that would give better conditions for the body - and the wrangling as would be caused by change would be away from, rather than in the hearing and in the attitude of the body, [2222].
-
(Q) Is the body under the proper care at present for its best health? (A) As given, it is not.
-
(Q) What brought this condition on with this body? (A) As given, that physical condition existent in the body proper, which - as is seen - affects the locomotion and the action of the nerve system toward the functioning of the organs proper. Hence we have that condition existent in the cerebro-spinal nerve system that is the direct cause of same - 6th and 7th dorsal region and plexus.
-
(Q) Are those who have charge of this body sincere in their efforts? (A) Yes and no. Sincere in that the body be kept as near in the condition wherein it is wholly dependent upon those ministrations being given through those that are in charge, but NOT in the manner of the best INTEREST for the physical and mental well-being of the body. Rather selfish motives, see?
-
(Q) Has this body been doped? (A) This body has had administered narcotics and sedatives from time to time. These have been administered in a way and manner that they would act only as the administration of those giving same in the way to give the less fear to the one these are administered to; that is, when there is any undue effect from the manipulation or from the effect produced in functioning organs - and some pain is caused - these are administered as sedatives, when narcotics are used, see?
-
(Q) What causes this body’s attitude towards his children? Why does he mistrust them? (A) As has been given, when these physical conditions arose, there existed that mental attitude that the physical condition only accentuated. Under the care and attention then of those who are of the selfish nature that would keep the body in that position wherein it is taught, it is given to understand, that no one else could do what is being done except those in charge, and that the attitude of others would be to CHANGE such conditions - the natural attitude is aversion, and with aversion there is brought at times those conditions wherein the body desires, wishes for, demands, that the loved ones be brought near. THEN the narcotic or dope is administered most, see? Hence the injunction as would be given for the best conditions:
Take an individual such as would be found in an individual of the same profession as the one in charge - explain, give the whole condition, circumstance - one understanding the information, through which and how such is obtained - one that would take care not only of the body-physical but of the mental attitude of those who now care for body.
-
(Q) In what way could [2223], his son, go about to bring about this condition that would assist the father? (A) Secure the services of one such as House, Woodhouse [Thomas B. House, M.D.; Robert W. Woodhouse, M.D.] or of anyone in the same professional standing - gaining and giving that necessary information of how the case is to be handled, and through THEM have them approach the one in charge for personal examination. These will gain the confidence of both, and through them these conditions may be corrected.
-
(Q) Will it be necessary for the body to take more Radium treatment from Dr. Young, to stop the bleeding of the cancerous or ulcerous condition of the bladder? (A) Not NECESSARY - yet this would be helpful to the body. Not NECESSARY under the existent condition, though radium to the body is good, but the ultra Violet Ray - as given, is better, see? for the radium in the present condition tends to PRODUCE the dissemination of poisons through the system, while the ultra Violet Ray - WITH the applications already given - tends to cause ELIMINATIONS.
-
(Q) How are the body’s finances holding out? Is the doctor getting away with them, or getting over paid? (A) Being very well paid - and too much is being set aside for afterward.
-
(Q) Is this body’s will justly made out, and will it be administered correctly? (A) There will be many questions arise, should it be administered in the manner and way made out; yet, were these changes brought about for the body, we would find much of this would be corrected, see, during the body’s life time - for, with the physical condition - and with the changes that may be brought that will change the mental attitude of the body toward all surrounding same - we would find there would come many more pleasant and many more helpful days to the body, and to those associated or connected by the ties of family with the body.
-
(Q) Would the body’s daughter come to him from the convent? (A) Would the conditions as exist be given, honestly, thoroughly to the body, the body would respond and come to the assistance and aid of those that desire - DESIRE - sincerely - to see that only the best care is administered to the body.
-
(Q) How long would it like to change this condition? (A) The best would be to change the condition while the body is in THIS place, see? for the climatic conditions are well for the body. Continue in the service and study.
Simply set the body to work to BRING the change; that is, the doctor, see? House or Woodhouse. Let THEM come - and not under-handed will they administer or will they come, yet knowing the circumstance, knowing the conditions, they will set about in the proper way and manner to bring the changes that would be beneficial and helpful to this body, [2222].
- (Q) What may [2223] do to assist in bringing this about? (A) Securing the services of those that would bring it about. Cooperate, wholeheartedly, and keep self in that attitude wherein there may be brought the best in the lives of those surrounding this body.
Do this as has been given, for this will bring much good and much satisfaction to self that there has been kept that correct attitude of self toward the body, for to be ever in the position where conscience condemns self is as heaping fire on self’s own head. Let not thine heart be weary in well-doing. Keep thine face toward the light, as thou hast SEEN in the call to the Master.
- We are through.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 8/19/27 EC’s letter to David E. Kahn: “Now, I want to ask you about another thing. I feel like you will understand me, for I believe it has been said: ‘With friends there is no need of excuse or explanation, and with others it doesn’t make any difference.’ Not because though that this has come up am I suggesting this - and I don’t suggest it - I want her to really feel like she would like to help - but I would like for Lucille to be a member of the Board of Trustees, if she would like to be and if her interests are such that she feels she could serve on this Board - to the good of herself and others. That’s another reason I’d like for you all to be here on the 3rd.
“No, it’s mighty hard to get away from the information given in the readings (that’s why I’d like to see Lucille a member, by the way). Whenever it tells you something is going to happen, it happens! Several years ago it told us that there was a certain family who would be interested in the phenomena. We have never known how to - or have never been able to conceive as to how we could get in touch with them, yet in the place that it told us to come, in the place it told us to build the institution, one of the family walks in [GD’s note: The “one of that family” must refer to Mr. [2223]. I do not know if the reference Mr. Cayce refers to will show up in a reading somewhere or if the information was given long ago when copies were not kept. Evidently Mr. [2222] died on 8/19/27, because his son obtained a Life Reading on 8/21/27 asking questions about his father’s death, the circumstances, etc. - See 2223-1.] - and even death itself seems to make the changes necessary at times to bring about those conditions that the readings declare to us will come.
“Will appreciate anything that you desire to send us in the way of a chair, Dave.
“We’re all pretty well here. Nothing specially new. A good many are responding to the request to become members, and it is a study to see the effect, or the class - if we may be privileged to judge - that are responding.
“Well, let us hear from you - and expecting to see you and Lucille on the 3rd, I am - with love and good wishes to all.”
R2. 8/22/27 Mr. [2223]‘s card: Dear Friend:- “Brother and I just witnessed the lowering of our father’s coffin in his grave. Leaving for N.Y. tonight. Please mail my reading to … I will write later.”
R3. 2/12/51 Son, Mr. [2223]‘s letter to HLC: “I knew your father in 1928. I was in Virginia Beach as my father died there after being released from John Hopkins. Cayce’s reading informed me that my father was being given narcotics. This was true as three days before my father died, everything he owned he deeded over to his private doctor [Conner…M.D. See 2223-1, Par. 28-Q questions, etc.]. We later received everything back in property.”
R4. 8/28/51 Son, Mr. [2223]‘s letter to HLC: “Please write me a letter revealing that I had a reading of my father and also a Life Reading of myself 8/21/27 at his office and that I was present at the reading. I wish this letter for my files in relation to a book I plan to write. Would you also include a separate letter on how you became a witness of my father’s will and what your impressions were of Dr. Conner [GD’s note: In this letter he spelled the name Connor instead of Conner.] and the whole situation. This will not be used in any way to involve you as the Conners are all dead. I would like the truth as to your sincere feelings at the time.”
R5. 9/6/51 HLC’s letter to Mr. [2223]: “In the summer of 1928, while working in a Real Estate office in Virginia Beach, it was my pleasure to meet you, your father, his nurse and doctor. At that time they were staying at the Princess Anne Hotel [Spotswood Arms?] in Virginia Beach.
“I remember your visit with my father when you secured from him psychic readings which seemed to indicate that unless different types of treatment could be given your father would soon pass on.
“I remember the nurse visiting the real estate office where I worked and heard part of a will which she dictated to the stenographer working there.
“On the occasions when I saw your father he seemed in a stupor.
“I am glad to learn that the whole situation in connection with your inheritance has been cleared up.”
