GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2276]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are changes in the general physical forces of the body since last we had same here. Many are for improvements. Some are very aggravating, and are the effects of tautness during the attempt of adjustments; and NOT the fault of the operator.
-
However, it is now necessary to have one well versed as to making the corrections to relieve this tension. It is NOT broken cell tissue, as yet. Neither is it true paralysis, nor is it a stroke - as is ordinarily termed.
-
As we find, we would return to Dr. Tucker; and have at least three or four such adjustments as to relieve that tension in the upper dorsal area. RELAX the body thoroughly before attempting to make adjustments; preferably with hot compresses.
-
Also each evening when ready to retire, we find it would be well to put hot compresses on the cerebrospinal system - from the base of the head to the end of the spine. Use hot towels, quite wet but not to make it disagreeable. Wring out the towels, you see, as hot as can be well stood, using gloves in doing so. Then, as each area is thoroughly relaxed by the application of the hot towels, and while the portion is still very warm, we would massage into the spine - in a circular motion, not as a pressure but a circular motion - an equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor, - say a tablespoonful of each, - this should almost congeal. Massage each time what the body will absorb.
-
The properties now being taken internally - as the phenobarbital tablets - we would continue; but DO NOT come to DEPEND upon these so much as upon the system’s adjusting itself by the proper diet, PROPER exercise, and the corrections indicated.
-
Also occasionally we would have the Castor Oil Packs over the lacteal duct and extending to the caecum area.
-
We need more VITAL strength. The properties being taken (the B injections) are beneficial in this direction. These are sufficient, provided there is kept plenty of those foods. in the diet that carry the same properties also.
-
Beef juices here would be excellent, taken as a tonic. Prepare this, and take sips of it several times a day. Do not just take it as a drink of water, or milk, or just to be swallowed, but sip it very slowly - about a teaspoonful at the time.
-
Do not eat fats, but keep the body supplied with sufficient fuel for the exercise taken.
-
Use honey as the sweetening for most things, whether this be with the cereals or upon cakes or in whatever pastry is prepared - make same partially with honey.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is exercise good or bad? (A) Not OVEREXERCISE, but exercise is the better; and WITH these two to three adjustments - or four adjustments - it should be much improved, with the massages given regularly as indicated each evening when the body is ready to retire.
-
(Q) Is his teaching interfering with his progress toward good health? (A) Not interfering, but would rather interfere if it were cut off - in the present.
-
(Q) How long will it take to relieve this condition in the left side if directions are followed? (A) Within at least three to four weeks we should be back to where there is better activity and better use of the left side of the body.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/24/41 Wife’s letter to EC:
“Ever since the last reading in October I have intended writing to you about [2276]‘s condition. You recall he was teaching last fall when he began to feel worse so we wrote for a reading. It directed us to go back to Dr. Tucker in Raleigh which we did. We followed all instructions as carefully as possible as we had done for the other readings. Dr. Tucker advised us to stop at Duke Hospital for an examination. There they kept [2276] a few days before operating November 15. Upon operating we found a tumor the size of an egg and of somewhat malignant nature. [2276] responded to the operation beautifully and made excellent progress toward normal health until about May 1st. He had two more convulsions in one morning and began growing weaker daily. The doctors have told us that human hands can do no more. In fact last Sunday our local doctor told us that it would be a matter of about two weeks before the growth would consume [2276]‘s life entirely.
“I thought that you’d be interested in the case. We appreciate all your help in striving to get [2276] back to normal life. We followed all directions but it evidently is time for him to leave us. His life has been a happy one and he wishes that he could continue it so with his family.
“I don’t feel that we can afford another reading at present since our expenses have been so heavy lately but if you could include one along with another reading we’d be so interested in hearing the results. [2276] is confined to the bed here at home all the time now.
“The bulletins have been coming right along bringing interesting information. We appreciated so much the one at Easter time. I’m happy to learn that your work is progressing so well.
“[2276] and I thought it so kind of you to include us in your Christmas greeting list. The messages at Christmas meant so much to us. Little […] [son] often talks about J. D. [T. J. Davis] - his Virginia Beach friend.
“Best wishes to you and Mrs. Cayce,” […]
R2. 6/3/41 Wife’s letter to EC:
“Thank you so much for your comforting and helpful letter which came yesterday. I hasten to answer so that you may receive this by Thursday morning. You are very generous and kind in offering to have a check reading and we shall be extremely interested in hearing what is said.
“[2276] had a bad day Sunday. His discomfort rests entirely in his back and abdomen - the region you indicated in the readings to be treated with hot oil packs. We are using hot pads now to help relieve pain. I hope some method of relief may be given in the reading.
“[2276] sends his appreciation and kindest regards to you all.”
Sincerely yours, […]

B2. Questions submitted:
- Should the phenobarbital tablets be continued or omitted altogether, or dosage lessened?
- Is his present diet sufficient to supply the needs of the body? (We are giving B injections regularly)
- What is causing the condition in the left side and how long will it remain if directions are followed?
- What was the cause of this condition?
- Is exercise good or bad?
- Is his teaching interfering with his progress toward good health?
(The condition of which I speak is a lack of use of the left arm and leg. This makes him helpless and nervous, and causes him to stumble and fall.)
