This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of October, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2293], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Tenn.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
While in the main conditions we find are very good, there are still those tendencies the correction of which would enable better relaxation, and the responses to the physical and emotional reactions would be much improved.
-
Hence we find there should be the equalization of the pressures along the cerebrospinal system, where there is the closer coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous systems. This should be done osteopathically, and with particular reference given to the cervical areas, and to the 3rd and 4th dorsal, 9th dorsal, and the lumbar axis.
-
Some six or eight such treatments should be administered.
-
These as we find, with keeping the mental attitudes in those directions which have been indicated, would be the most beneficial for the body.
-
Do these, if we would keep the better forces in the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why do I have so much dandruff? (A) The poor circulation to the scalp, - hence the necessity for the coordinations in the upper cervical area, as indicated. This tends to make for accumulations.
Use the special Drene Shampoo with hair conditioner added, as a massage and cleanser for the hair, at least once a week for some five or six weeks; and we will find, with the treatments, this will disappear; the hair will be more lustrous and have less tendency for the graying, with more tendency for keeping near to the natural color.
Do this regularly.
- We are through for the present - with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/21/43 Letter thanking EC for the book, TIR: “I still have trouble with my throat. I took the osteopathic treatments but didn’t seem to get very good results. I believe I will have to overcome that myself. I believe it is caused from a nervous condition which is very hard to overcome… Mr. [1956] will probably be (discharged and) home around the first of the month.”
R2. 2/22/43 Mrs. [2293]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I have a very dear friend who hasn’t been well for some time. She doesn’t have very much confidence in doctors, so I was telling her about you, and I showed her some of the readings I had gotten from you. She decided to get one. She really has gotten to the point where she feels like something must be done, as soon as possible.
If you can give her an appointment at an early date I will appreciate it very much. As she has become very much alarmed over her condition.
She prefers this to be very confidential. I assured her that it would be. I recommended you to her very highly. I surely feel that we [[2293] & [1956]] have been benefited through your readings as well as your friendship.
I will give you her name and address so you can send her an application.
R3. 9/7/43 Mrs. [2293]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am sending you the $5.00 money order, for the book, “There is a River.” I am sorry I have waited so long in sending it. It was for a while I didn’t have the money to spare, and then, I will have to admit I just neglected it. I hope you won’t think that I don’t want the book. It is very interesting, by knowing the characters, naturally makes it more interesting.
How are all your folks getting along? We are pretty good, I am still having trouble with my back. Mr. Cayce, just from your own opinion what do you think about Chiropractic doctors. You know I have been to Osteopathic doctors so long, and don’t seem to get any results, so I know a Chiropractic really thinks he can help me, I just don’t know what to do, since I have spent so much money. He says I have a double curvature, but I guess without another reading there would be very little advice you could give me. It seems I am getting a stiff place in my back besides the other trouble.
I am not working now I thought I would take off for a while and maybe it would get better.
I talk to Mrs. [482] recently, she said they were getting along pretty good. I don’t see them very often, we sold our car and of course we don’t get around much as we did, and don’t go to … Ave. Church either.
Give your family my regards.
Sincerely, [2293]
R4. 9/10/43 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2293]:
Mrs. [2293] …, Tenn.
Dear Mrs. [2293]
Thank you for your letter of the seventh. I appreciate the enclosure very very much. I fully understand how such things may go.
I just hope that you found the book interesting and worthwhile, and that it may prove to be as of much help to you as so many others said that it has been to them.
As for the question about doctors, Mrs. [2293] there are some chiropractors much more capable than many osteopaths, but the information has always been partial to the osteopath. But it may be possible if he is the correct sort of a chiropractor that he would be able to move the vertebrae where the other man has failed, and too, it is possible that he might be too severe. I would like, if it were possible, and you could wait a little while to check up on this for you before you have this done, but you know your own feelings in the matter better than I. If they will relax that portion of your spine with hot packs, say of a saturated solution of Epsom Salts. Do that for twenty or thirty minutes before he attempts to make any adjustment, then try to make it gentle and not all of a sudden; that is what most of us fear about the chiropractor.
Let me know what you think. You know that I will be glad to try to work this in somewheres, though I have to tell you that we are about twelve months ahead not with appointments. But I wouldn’t expect you to wait twelve months. We will try to work this in for you.
Give the folks my love, and with every good wish and kindest regards.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
