This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2421], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., through his wife, Mrs. [2799].

In the Men’s Room Time of Reading 3rd floor of the 11:20 to 11:25 A.M. Eastern War Time. Nat’l Broadcasting Co., Rockefeller Center, New York, N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - changed the name, but the same man!

3. As we find, there should be applied more hydrotherapy with the treatment. While the light sweats are good, the massages should be made deeper, especially in feet, the bursa of the toes and the heels, the upper end of the muscles in calf of leg, knee, points of hips and the outer portions of same. These should be continued, and we will make for better conditions much faster.

4. Don’t overtax self by long hours, especially of evening. Do get eight hours sleep, and sleep!

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) Any other treatment for the feet, especially the great toes? (A) Better keep up what we have just indicated! Do this thoroughly and we will find that the body will save self from a great deal of distress later. But do mind the hours!

7. (Q) What about diet? (A) Keep well balanced, but keep away from carbonated waters or hard liquors of any kind.

8. (Q) What is the hidden condition of his eyes? (A) There isn’t any hidden condition - it’s the kidneys making the distress! and the treatments in the hips and legs, and at the 8th and 9th dorsal, will aid in correcting these, if drainages from the system are set up. We may have greater distress in kidneys, but these poisons must be eliminated if we would aid the eyes. Don’t make applications directly to the eyes, except in the use of some good eye wash.

9. (Q) Is the heart in any way affected? (A) Not at the present. Sympathetically or nervously, yes, but not in the heart itself. These administrations to the central nervous system especially, and the setting up of better drainages from the parts indicated, will aid the more.

R1. Rdg. [Mental-Spiritual] attempted 12/27/43 P.M. When presenting location, “He’d better make up his mind if he wants to get a reading! - We haven’t the body here - we are through for the present.” This came when Mrs. C. said Mr. [2421] was in studio 21 or 22.

R2. 12/29/43 EC’s ltr. to [2799]:

Dear Mrs. [2799]:

We undertook the mental and spiritual reading for Mr. [2421] the other afternoon, but didn’t get anywhere. Our trouble was we didn’t know where he was at the time, and there it stopped. Am undertaking this again the afternoon of February 10, 3:30 to 4:30 EWT. Let me know if this will be satisfactory and if he can keep that period in some special place, I will undertake it. If he can’t, as I wrote you, I don’t believe it is justice to you, to us, or to anyone, unless one can take time to have the reading.

R3. 1/10/44 Wife [2799]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

On the eleventh of December you wrote me asking that you be given a place where Mr. [2421] could be located for his December 27, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mental and Spiritual Reading. So, on the seventeenth I wrote you advising you that he would be in room 702 and 48 West 48th Street, New York City. [GD’s note: This letter is not in our files.] He was there alone and had the opportunity to mediate and rest. In fact he tells me he fell asleep during this meditation and awoke at a little after four thirty. However, we are sorry that you could not find him, and that now you have set aside another time February 10, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for the reading. [2421] says the date is all right, but that I will have to write you later just where he will be. At this early date he is unable to say just where his activities might lead him. He understands that he must be quiet and restive and this he will do.

We received his Check Physical and this week Wednesday he is contacting Dr. Dobbins to continue his treatments with him. Dr. Dobbins is fine and has really helped [2421] no end. At Reilly’s he could not say the same thing. Because he had a different man work on him each time he made his appointment, and these men did not go into the case and his treatments were never as satisfactory as those he had with Dr. Dobbins. We are grateful to you for these readings and the work you are doing for mankind. God bless you and may his light further guide you in your great work.

Mrs. [2799] …, New York

Dear Mrs. [2799]:-

I have yours of January 10. The appointment for Mr. [2421] for the afternoon of February 10 is going to have to be changed. I am sorry to keep putting this off, but I am just having to take a rest. We are changing the period to the afternoon of March 17, 3:30 to 4:30 E.W.T.

I believe if Mr. [2421] would have taken up the suggestions indicated to be taken at Dr. Reilley’s [Reilly’s] with Dr. Reilley himself or Mr. Egan [Wm. H. Eigen], while they may change from time to time, each of the men is certainly qualified to give thorough treatments. I do hope the period set won’t be out of the question for Mr. [2421]. Let us know just where he will be at that time. Hoping that we may help, I am

R5. 3/24/44 [2799]‘s ltr. to EC:

My dear Mr. Cayce,

I have before me all of our correspondence regarding the Mental and Spiritual Reading for [2421]. The date of this reading has been changed three different times and since we have not either heard from you nor received the reading, I am writing to find out just what has happened. At the time you changed the date from February to March 17th., I wrote you saying that I would have to give you the place and address later, because Mr. [2421] is called and works all over New York City and outlying towns. So I wired you on the 13th., by Western Union as follows:

“For Mental and Spiritual Reading on March seventeenth find [2421] at one hundred and ninth street and Manhattan Avenue, Apartment 39 - Living room.” [GD’s note: We would not get the reading as we did not know whether the address wired was NYC or … L.I. Could not wire for verification as we only had a bod numberfor their home address on Long Island.]

Let us hear from you regarding the above.

Now about [2421]‘s check physical; The doctor, [George N. Coutler, D.O.] who has taken over Dr. Dobbins practice is truly fine. [2421] showed him the reading and the previous one and he is following directions beautifully. [2421] is much better and the 8th and 9th dorsal are coming along nicely. This adjustment has taken the strain off the eyes and his legs. His whole condition is better and he is still losing weight. From [260] pounds to 197. We are truly grateful for your wonderful help.

And now I have to ask you, if in your very busy program you will be able to give me a physical reading for myself. Since I have been working nights, these last 16 months, in a defense plant my reserve strength has been tapped and I am now quite ill. Just what is the matter no one knows now and if that is possible I should be most grateful, to have the reading.

Nancy writes: He was well known in the music world, being active in both radio and early television. He composed music for the Robert Ripley “Believe It Or Not” show and the Gene Autry program, as well as writing music for advertisement in the automotive industry. In addition he was the main organist at Radio City Music Hall and privately taught voice and music to aspiring students. He put the “Great Invocation” to music…One day he received a phone call from Marie Lehmann (Ann Sorel) who was inquiring about voice lessons. He turned to his roommate and said, “This is the girl I’m going to marry,” before he ever met her. They were married on July 21, 1937 in New York City. There were no children from this marriage.

In 1945, he was hit by an automobile when attempting to cross a street in New York. My aunt reported that after the accident he developed severe cardiac problems resulting from a previously unknown congenital heart defect. Off and on, he was confined to bed from 1945 until his death on January 30th, 1951. He decided on January 30th to visit all of his friends in the music world and took a train into the city. He collapsed and died suddenly from a massive heart attack. (Age 45)
