This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of January, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2431], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., via Mrs. [2174] and Mr. [1561].

1. HLC: You will have before you [2431] who is at …, N.Y.C. You will consider the interest, associations and work of this entity in connection with pendulums. At this time please give a discourse on the fundamental principles and technique of using these pendulums, advising the entity regarding his work with them, in order that he may be of greater service. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind of the entity [2431].

3. In giving a discourse on such a subject, a great many things or conditions must be taken into consideration; as related to metals and their synthesis, as well as those things having to do with the activity of the individual entity in relationships to same.

4. To say that there is naught in the use of the pendulum would be in error. To say that each entity could use same would also be in error.

5. As will be and is gradually being understood, each metal, each element even, has its attractions and its repulsions for the other metals or combinations of same in the different degrees, and in different ways and manners. And if used in search for those things hidden, or misplaced, it will be found that oft - in the experience of some individuals - these may be used as a means of locating such.

6. Such is the use of the pendulum.

7. To make same practical in the experience of an individual, then, is to find - by patient experimentation - those elements that for the individual entity have this attraction.

8. Thus a pendulum may be combined that may be used by the entity in such a way and manner.

9. To be sure, this information is in a manner very INDEFINITE. But as has been indicated, it is VERY definite if the individual will take the time, and the experimentation, to FIND, to classify for self, that which is in coordination, or that which is attracted under its usage in the pendulum.

11. (Q) Will you explain in a little more detail the laws of attraction and repulsion? (A) There are atomic vibrations, and as there is the breaking up of each element in its forces and forms, there is produced the attraction or repulsion. As an illustration (this you can’t use, so we will give it as an illustration):

All of uranium elements are an attractive force for those influences that produce same, you see, - platinum and all mercury products are attracted by uranium.

Uranium, then, will indicate those locations of such pitchblende as would PRODUCE SOME form of its same elements, - or platinum or platnite [?]. In the one - platinum - this would swing across, see? In the others - of the pitchblende - circular.

12. (Q) In considering the individual entity’s work with the pendulum, could you suggest certain elements or minerals with which he - [2431] - should begin experimentation? (A) What is he seeking? Water, salt, sand, gold, silver, copper, lead, or what?

Begin with whatever he desires to, you see, and work out each one!

In the midst of undertaking some new work I have delayed acknowledging your gracious communication of the 22nd and your father’s note of the following day.

Although his findings give no new light on our pendulum work, they emphasize again the need of individual study of each material which we are seeking. Continued experimentation and checking seem to be the one path that leads to definite results. Yet there is something deeper in it all which we do not understand. One time our location of samples of metal, such as gold in the safe deposit boxes of a bank, proves uncannily accurate, whereas equally definite reactions in the field have proved entirely negative.

In your letter was enclosed an application for associate membership, with the request that it be filled out and returned for your files. I should be delighted to do this save for the commitment to pay $20. Perhaps I have misunderstood the use to which you would put it as a record.

I am most grateful for your offer to help us in this search for an opportunity to be of really definite service, as we could be if we unearthed but one of the caches of precious metal which we believe we have located. To find but one would make endowment of such work as yours and your father’s an entirely practical matter. With my kind regards to you both and my repeated thanks, I am,

Dear Mr. [2431]:-

I wish that I had known that you had experimented with various types and combinations of metals in the pendulum work. It would have been possible to ask some definite questions regarding the proper weight, size, etc. of special metals for different substances.

For example have you found one substance that works best with gold, one for silver, one for iron, etc. It is possible that one substance will work for one metal better than another, and so will work to some degree when either of the metals are present. It would be necessary to determine by experiment that ONE which worked best.

Perhaps I am covering ground here that you have been over many times. I would be happy to have some further light from you regarding the experiments made to date. Perhaps then, we would be able to go on with further questions that could be helpful.

Disregard the $20 membership fee line. It was our mistake in not crossing this out. We would like to have the blank for our records. Cross it out and mark sponsored there. I will take care of it here.

Dear Mr. Cayce -

Many thanks for your kind letter of the 6th. We have, as a matter of fact, experimented through long hours on the adaptability of different materials for different metals and substances and through these experiments have calibrated some thousand or more pendulums to different minerals and to water; also to different quantities of the same substances. I feel that the essence of my inquiry is contained in the questions set forth in my letter of November 26th, especially in those referring to the specific undertakings. There is little that I think of to add to these.

Also I enclose the blank with information requested. Do accept my thanks not only for yours and your father’s time and wonderful services but also for your willingness to keep the subject in mind against further opportunity.

Just two days ago I met an eminent German refugee professor who has a brilliant record and who thinks the pendulum work will be a commonplace in the not too distant future. I hope to see him soon and to speak more intimately with him about it.

“I consider it absolutely essential in order to do this work, WHICH REPRESENTS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT TRUTH, or to come anywhere near it, one must become conscious that HIS SOUL IS A SIGN OF GOD - A MIRROR, AND IF IT BE FAITHFUL TO GOD, IT WILL REFLECT HIS LIGHT. This background produces a spiritual and mental poise, which is like a scale hanging at dead center. When a thought is put upon one side of the scale, the other side of the scale responds in kind, either pro or con, or up or down.

“With the pendul it is the magnetic attraction of the center of the earth and it has a direct magnetic connection and bearing upon the earth’s movement. Normally there is a direct control between the mind and the hand that holds the pendul by way of an invisible force. CALL IT WHAT WE MAY, which activates the movement of the PENDUL. This is absolutely separate from any motion of the hand whatsoever, and any motion of the hand will interfere with a true record. The hand acts only as a medium for a continuous circuit and a suspension for the PENDUL. The correct answer to any thought sent out produces THE QUALITY OF TRUTH IN ITS ACTIVITY ACCORDING AS THE INDIVIDUAL WHO HOLDS THE PENDUL REPRESENTS IN HIS OWN RIGHT.”

• An anonymous contribution from an humble soul.

There must be a proper mental, physical and spiritual posture. The physical must be free and flexible - relaxed at all times - the posture must be easy and natural, and at no time forced into ANY strained position. The mental must be free from all problems, of inductive or deductive states,

• must be free from all save the specimen held, which is a sensing rather than a feeling. The Concentration must be of the quality of meditation, or rather of a meditative state, in order that the concept may be formed, the question formulated, and an intelligent question asked (sent forth aloud) which may be answered “yes” and “no”, or in values on the chart of a predetermined correlation between mind and pendul. The concentration-meditation must be such that only the conceptively formed question held goes forth from the mind in the form of a question, while the concentrative-meditative powers of the mind are held on the subject matter under investigation. The specimen entity and the concept from which the question is formulated must entirely fill the mind - blocking out the conscious - allowing the superconscious, or the spiritual impulses to come through for interpretation, according to the question sent forth for a “yes” or “no” answer, or to values on the chart already predetermined - correlated figures on the chart between mind and pendul, which we have accepted as such and built into the consciousness now being developed, which can only result from the development of the brain cell area through practice, patience and work.

After the question has been sent forth (spoken aloud) the meditative-concentrative, mental state gives way to the contemplative state, which is a deeper state of the soul than meditation.

It is a state, attainment and condition both mentally and physically of the devotee - IT IS PURELY A STATE IN WHICH THE SOUL IS RECEIVING WITH ITS SPIRITUAL CAPACITY. IN THIS STATE, THE SOUL, OR “RATIONAL FACULTY” IS NOT MORE THAN A SENSITIZED FILM ON WHICH THE LIGHT IS IMPRINTING A PICTURE THAT WILL BE LOOKED AT WITH THE EYE OF THE SOUL, AND SENSED WITH THE SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM - WHICH IS NEITHER ENTIRELY PHYSICAL, NOR ENTIRELY SPIRITUAL, BUT A CONNECTING LINK BETWEEN THE TWO.

NO INDIVIDUAL CAN MASTER THIS WORK WITHOUT FIRST HAVING DEVELOPED A BRAIN CELL AREA THROUGH TIME, PATIENCE, PRACTICE AND WORK, THROUGH WHICH HE MAY RECEIVE, INTERPRET AND RECORD THE RADIO ACTIVE IMPULSES GIVEN OFF BY THE SPECIMEN. THE DIAGNOSIS, IN ITS CORRECTNESS, DEPENDS UPON THE QUALITY OF MIND OF THE OPERATOR, HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUNDAMENTALS OF HISTOLOGY, ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY AND PATHOLOGY, AND HIS ABILITY TO FORM ENTITY CONCEPTS AND TO ASK INTELLIGENT QUESTIONS REGARDING SAME - AND IN TURN RECEIVE AND INTERPRET THE IMPULSES FLOWING IN. THE CAPACITY AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE OPERATOR WILL GROW FROM DAY TO DAY AS THE TRANSITORY LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVES UPWARD TOWARDS COSMIC INTUITION, FOREVER PUSHING FORWARD THE CONSCIOUS MARGINAL. EVERY PHYSICIAN DIAGNOSES AND TREATS FROM HIS CONSCIOUS LEVEL AND EXTENDED FRINGE OF CONSCIOUSNESS.

Everything in the universe has its own individual emanation

• its own radio active rate of vibration. Every organ and tissue in the animal body has its own normal rate of vibration and any change in that rate expresses a change from normal condition. Diagnosis is for the determination of the condition of every organ, every tissue, in its individual relation to the whole, and the relation of the vibratory state of the whole and its component parts to their one hundred percent of normal - or what we would term one hundred percent health of an individual at the time the diagnosis is made.

To make the diagnosis possible with the pendul it is necessary that we have something from the individual carrying his composite emanation of the whole, and the parts. A piece of blotting paper saturated with saliva, or a drop or drops of blood upon a paper, or a signature made with a soft pencil upon a slip of paper, is a specimen for diagnosis. Next, we have the pendul as the instrument to be moved by the “rhabdic force” emanating from the specimen, and acting on and through the nervous system of the operator produces “cryptesthesia”. This “rhabdic force” does not act directly on the muscles but on the nervous system that moves the muscles, and interpreted it can reveal facts about things (objects or bodies) that our normal senses cannot reveal. We know for a fact that unknown forces - invisible forces - emanate from things, and these forces are amenable to measure and comparison by physical means - THE PENDUL. We know that these unknown forces do not register with our conscious senses, or physical instruments, nevertheless, they act (according to unknown laws) very energetically on the subconscious organism producing cognitions that the normal senses cannot give.

We know that the “rhabdic force” that acts on the human organism and produces muscular contractions reveal to consciousness facts that consciousness alone cannot reach, and that the unconscious muscular action is a revealer of vibrations which emanations from actual things arouse in our subconscious intelligence. We know that the vibrations of the emanations from things can be, and are measured with the PENDUL, when the human nervous system is acted upon by the emanatory “rhabdic force” which produces unconscious and involuntary contractions, according to the intensity of the force to be measured.

Given the specimen to be diagnosed, and the pendul as the agency of measurement, we have completed a composite chart - based on the investigation of Dr. Adolph Selige, and ten years clinical experience of Dr. W. T. Bidwell; for the purpose of interpreting and measuring the intensity of “rhabdic force” emanating from a specimen. We have built into out consciousness a correlation between certain degree numbers of the circle and certain pathological conditions which we have first agreed to consciously, - as for instance 110 for inflammation, 160 for streptococcus, etc. Given the specimen, the PENDUL, and the composite chart with its correlations, the percentage of correctness of the diagnosis will depend upon the understanding by the physician of the fundamentals and detailed knowledge of histology, anatomy, physiology and psychology; and his ability to form clear concept, ask intelligent questions based on fundamentals and detailed knowledge that may be answered in the affirmative or negative while mentally tieing the individual entity to the specimen, and mentally viewing the organ, or tissue under diagnosis in the light of histological and anatomical structure, physiological function and normal or pathological conditions; and with this mind-concept formulate intelligent questions for the PENDUL to answer “yes” or “no”, or in percentages of 100% normal, or of pathological conditions, and indicate their intensity. This must not be a question of mere words not consciously understood to their fullest, but the question must be asked in a consciousness of the fullest, understanding of ALL the foregoing factors, to which the PENDUL WILL GIVE A TRUE ANSWER and produce such quality of truth in its activity as the individual who holds the pendul represents in his own right. THE PENDUL WILL ANSWER TRUTHFULLY REQUESTS MADE TO THE INFINITE.

Understanding diagnosis of a patient is in the realm of reality, and a one hundred percent diagnosis is a cure. Both the diagnosis and the cure. Both the diagnosis and the cure, however, depend upon the understanding and spiritual capacity of the physician.

“The pendul is a very reliable source of diagnosis in the hands of a nearly one hundred percent spiritually balanced person (balanced spiritually, mentally, physically). Such accomplishment can only be developed (acquired) by time, and it may take from TEN TO FIFTEEN YEARS to develop in the individual that proper humility and subserverviency to a higher supreme spiritual BEING which will then make the power available to produce a true diagnosis with the pendul, to discover the different vitamins, minerals, hormones, foods, laxatives, and all that is necessary to normal metabolism.”

To those who would with time, work and patience develop PENDUL consciousness and become MASTERS OF THE PENDUL, by the same arduous efforts as one who masters the violin or piano, or science, or art, - can through the development of sense perception and the material agency of the PENDUL open to their consciousness vistas of the unknown.

There can be no skipping of grades. All lessons must be learned in their progressive order and the spirit of faith and certainty, otherwise, there will be uncertainty, doubt of self and the PENDUL, incorrect diagnosis and failure, and in the end to “justify self” for failure the operator will condemn the PENDUL and all who use it, though the fault be within himself. NOTHING STANDS UNLESS IT IS WELL GROUNDED ON A SOLID FOUNDATION AND THIS APPLIES TO THE PENDUL AS WELL AS TO EVERYTHING ELSE.

There are those who will not pay the price in time, work and patience to attain to PENDUL CONSCIOUSNESS, but prefer to ascertain their truth of diagnosis on the physical, or mental-physical planes. There are those who wish to use machines as an agency to this truth in preference to paying the price required for pendul consciousness, which is spiritual in its essence. We have no fault to find with such an one, and advise them to stick to their physical, or mental-physical agencies and to close the book on PENDUL CONSCIOUSNESS - and forget it. It is not something to be played with, or to be subservient to something material because, as one of our most brilliant investigators of this day expressed it to us - meaning all planes - “in the end it all depends upon consciousness.” Many of our greatest electronic operators in America today have used machines as stepping stones to higher levels of transitory consciousness with its ever expanding marginal, and are now using the pendul, or other human reflexes (individualized) more and more each day. Because the pendul and the human reflexes have no limitations as have the physical machines.

In the summation all depends upon consciousness, and consciousness depends upon the understanding and spiritual capacity of the individual, and accordingly is he an avenue of expression for the QUANTITY of Divine Mind - the quality of which is single-One-Omnipresent. Either be determined to master PENDUL TECHNIC and ATTAIN TO PENDUL CONSCIOUSNESS lesson by lesson, and become a MASTER, or let it alone and forget it. Half way measures is like a house built on shifting sands, and will lead only to disappointment and failure.

It is our advice that the student practice daily with the PENDUL, with a chart of a circle marked in degrees before him. Hold the PENDUL lightly in the right hand, just cradling it between the thumb and fingers with the elbow resting on the table or desk, while seated in an easy and relaxed condition. Hold the PENDUL one half inch above the center of the chart, then issue the command “aloud” for the PENDUL to cut across the circle arc at any marked degree named and numbered, as “cut 160” - then give the PENDUL, or rather the force acting through the nervous system, time to go into action and swing across the circle arc at the designated degree number. Continue this practice hour after hour, day after day, with patience.

At first give plenty of time for the command to be carried out. After the first command has been carried out “aloud” command to the PENDUL to cut some other degree number at some other arc of the circle and await the action-result. At first the PENDUL will vacillate, seemingly searching for the number. At times it may, like a young bird dog being trained, do the opposite of the command but patient persistent efforts will in time cause the PENDUL to jump into action at command, and with a snap strike the beat asked for.

This takes time and patience, and we warn you that unless you are willing to practice, practice and practice more to build and develop PENDUL CONSCIOUSNESS, or attain to it, do not attempt to diagnose with the PENDUL, because the results will be disappointing.

After you have become proficient with the PENDUL with the numbers technic place around the circle chart at intervals the names of various organs and tissues of the body, and practice with your PENDUL to have it search out and come to a beat - swinging from the center of the circle - across the organ or tissue named in the command. IN GIVING THE COMMAND TO CUT ACROSS ANY DEGREE NUMBER, OR ORGAN, OR TISSUE ALWAYS FOCUS THE GAZE ON THAT WHICH THE PENDUL IS COMMANDED TO STRIKE THE BEAT ON - SWINGING FROM THE CENTER ACROSS THE CIRCLE ARC AT A DESIGNATED PLACE. If you say “cut 160”, concentrate the gaze on 160, and think 160. If you say, “locate the liver”, gaze on the word “liver” marked on the practice chart, and mentally visualize the liver anatomically and physiologically in function.

It is our earnest request to those who contemplate taking up PENDUL PRACTICE as a means to the development of higher consciousness that they read, re-read and study carefully the foregoing so as to get the full significance of the import of this message. Our intent is that of guidance to those who would be fitted for this work, and moreover, a caution and friendly warning to those who would consider it as an easy way to TRUTH without preparation and fundamentals of the art in which they practice. We are trying to impress upon all that it takes persistent work and practice, time and patience, knowledge and understanding, spiritual development and capacity to be attained - a condition of sensing and awareness before the mastery of the PENDUL may become a reality and the transitory higher levels of consciousness ever expanding unto successive stages of cosmic intuition - ever expanding to the discernment of TRUTH. The quality of such discerned TRUTH in its activity will be such that the individual represents in his own right. The quantity of the ONE MIND capable of being expressed will be such perfection as the individual as a worthy and developed avenue is capable of expressing.

ANY DIAGNOSIS MADE AND TREATMENT PRESCRIBED IS ALWAYS AT THE LEVEL OF THE TRANSITORY CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE PHYSICIAN, AND IT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH HIS UNDERSTANDING AND CAPACITY - OF WHICH, IN ITS ENTITY, THERE ARE NOT TWO ALIKE IN THE WORLD. The PENDUL, in itself, has no power within it other than an acting material agency through, and by which, the state of concentration may be attained, and further as a means of interpretation of the intensity of the emanations from the specimen (things) acting upon the human nervous system as “Rhabdic force”, and producing involuntary action of the muscles.

It has been expressed thusly, “the operator of the PENDUL by means of its action (as a means of concentration) blocks out, locks out or blanks out the conscious mind and allows the SUPER-CONSCIOUS MIND to flow through.” IN THE END IT IS ALL “CONSCIOUSNESS” THAT GIVES US OUR FINDINGS AND THEIR INTERPRETATIONS, AND THE PENDUL IS A PHYSICAL AGENCY FOR THE EXPRESSION OF OUR CONSCIOUSNESS, AT THE LEVEL WE HAVE ATTAINED TO THROUGH DEVELOPMENT.

Through practice first make the PENDUL obedient to the conscious-mind command, as a musician studying a scale and expressing it consciously on an instrument instrument is co-ordinating mind and muscle - building a consciousness for what he is doing - developing potential brain cell areas for the execution of the technic. The PENDUL, through practice becomes obedient to the conscious-mind commands. Then when the operator closes out the conscious-mind - turns off that power house, as it were - and opens the way for SUPER-CONSCIOUS MIND to operate through him, the PENDUL is ready for prompt obedience to the higher command.

With the foregoing in mind we will proceed to make a complete diagnosis, prescribe the proper treatment of vegetable teas, enema, bath - check the food harmonious for the patient at the time. This can only be limited by our capacity to form intelligent concepts based upon our (now) understanding of fundamentals and details of knowledge, and from which to ask intelligent questions, and to receive and interpret intelligent answers according to that understanding and capacity.

In checking back through our files, I have come across your correspondence, and I remember most pleasantly our discussions.

Remembering your interest in the pendul therapy, I wanted to send you a copy of the enclosed article [attached] [see below] by Dr. W. T. Bidwell [William Thomas Bidwell, D.C., N.D., etc.]. You may be entirely familiar with his work, or possibly you have missed it. Dr. Bidwell is a very fine person and is rendering a great deal of service to many people.

Under separate cover, we are sending you some data regarding our present operation. I believe you would find some of our regular publications of considerable interest and we would certainly welcome you as a member of our Association.

The work of studying and presenting the remarkable records of the readings is going forward under the Association. I wish that it were possible for you to visit us here and see just what is being done in order that you could make some suggestions regarding our activities in several directions.

Enclosed find card [see below] announcing my lecture at the Woman’s Club in Hollywood. Today I received the tape recording of this lecture and I think it is real good. Have had several letter from L.A. saying it was one of the best lectures ever given at the Woman’s Club. I would like to meet all my old friends again and would like to attend this Congress this year and bring the tape and my machine along if you consider it would be of any interest to your meeting.

The Radiation Research Fellowship is the Brunler organization for the measurement of brain wavelengths which has a definite place in the advancing world today. I have one of the Bovis-Brunlet Biometers for measuring the brain wave length and could bring this along also.

Now here is a remarkable coincidence that Edgar Cayce and myself have the same brain wave length and the same clockwise characteristic and Dr. Brunler’s widow talked some on these two brain wave lengths on this tape.

I met with your L. A. group at Peter’s house and he and his wife gave me a most enjoyable dinner and I had a good time with the group.

We enjoyed the visit of Lydia and Miss Winn [Wynne] when they stopped by to see us.

Whether you desire the tape recording or not I am going to make every endeavor to see you in June, GOD willing.

Dear Dr. Bidwell,

It was certainly good to have your letter of April 27th for me when I returned yesterday from a six week’s coast trip.

I heard quite a bit about your Hollywood activities when I was out there.

It is a pleasure to know that you plan on being with us for the June Congress. By all means bring the tapes along. We have a Webcor recording machine which runs on speeds of both 3 1/2 and 7 1/2 which can be used if it is not convenient for you to bring your machine along. However, if you are driving it will probably be quite easy for you.

We are planning some playing of tape recordings in the afternoon for those who are interested in hearing them. Your tape can certainly be scheduled on this program. I am sure that a great many of those attending the Congress will be interested in it.

I missed seeing Rudy on my trip west, but I did talk with him by telephone in Chicago. He has certainly been quite busy. The Los Angeles Group members were complimentary with regard to your trip out there, and tell me you are planning that you will move in that direction.

Dear Edgar Cayce

It is past mid night but I must write you a hasty note to tell you that I have spent the evening with Mr. [2431] and his pendulum. We have been examining Samples of the core of 3838 [GD’s note: I think she is referring to 3838 feet corings of an oil well - see 1561-16, etc.] which I have here

• some register nothing. The more formed bits - like the one you liked remember - register 25 and the more loose samples

The highest vibrations he has ever tested is radium at 181

• the next lowest is emerald at 80. He knows nothing between 80 & 181.

Now of course we didn’t know WHAT it is but certainly there is something. This is the latest bulletin & not of the wires. Exciting isn’t it?

Dear Mr. [2431]:

I enjoyed talking with you very much when you were here at Virginia Beach. Perhaps it will be possible to see you in New York while we are there during the last part of November. You will receive notices of our lectures.

Before me is a letter which has just been written to Mr. [853]. In connection with his Life Reading Mr. [2431] received some information regarding a buried treasure. I have suggested that he get in touch with you. His story is an interesting one and it may be possible for you to work out some cooperative steps.

We will be at 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y. Phone 5714, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. David E. Kahn, after November 15th. My father will be there a few days before that time but I have given you the date of my own arrival.

Dear Mr. Cayce -

As you know from our talk at Virginia Beach, my pendulums have at various times correctly guided me to the Bank of France and to gold deposits in other banks, that they have correctly weighed the amounts of gold in safe deposit boxes and that they have indicated the location of certain other substances which I do not care to mention in writing but whose whereabouts is a matter of great importance. Yet in certain specific cases, where they have indicated treasure both on maps of the places concerned and IN SITU, excavations have failed to reveal the metals indicated.

Furthermore, you know from our talk how important and how general I believe their use could be, especially in diagnosis, if we could but find the underlying principles and develop a fair degree of accuracy in interpreting their movements.

Consequently, I am greatly pleased with your offer to attempt research work this question under the special research fund of your Association and, following your suggestion for definite questions, would venture the following, as suggestive only:

1 - Is there any way of determining how we might improve our technique and, if so, what course should we pursue?

2 - Would a study of my own life chart yield anything that might contribute to the end sought?

3 - In the case of the following specific undertakings could a reading give guiding information, either as to how to proceed or as an explanation of why we have not succeeded?

A - At Garrison on the Hudson, across from West Point, I have worked on the old Beverly Robinson property known as “BEVERLEY” and have found indications of both treasure and an underground gallery but have not been able to locate them by the excavations thus far made.

B - On a property on Staten Island near the town of Rossville my location of a treasure corresponded exactly to what a psychic friend had found, when I knew nothing of his findings and had no indication of them before arriving at the identical spot; yet he dug there and uncovered nothing.

C - Most important of all my attempts is a hole 85 feet deep on the mountain of LA CHEVRE D’OR to the east of the town of Vallauris on the French Riviera about five miles east of Cannes, where both my Swiss engineer associate and myself feel a system of galleries with several caches of treasure in them, believed to have been placed there by the Romans or even, perhaps, by the Ligurians before them. This hole is said by the peasants to have been a ventilation shaft to the galleries and shows clear signs of having been man-filled, not by nature, though it is a natural fault or cave.

Anything that you and your inspiring father can do will be immensely appreciated and may have within it direct or indirect possibilities difficult to envisage. With my cordial thanks for your efforts, I am,
