This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of January, 1941, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [2796], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss [906] and Mrs. [920].
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:35 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y.
-
HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2436].
-
Now as we find, there are definite disturbances that prevent the normal physical functionings through the system; and these have become of a very definite or specific nature.
-
A more perfect understanding of the condition might be gained best from the interpreting of the life experiences of the entity (through a Life Reading), as in relationship to those responsible for the entity’s physical entrance into the present experience.
-
In giving the physical interpretations, then, of those conditions which hinder the normal activity in or through the sensory system:
-
As we have indicated, and as indicated by some, - in the period of conception, the activities and the functioning of various portions of a developing body are guided through that unity of purpose in the coming into being of the channel for the expression of a soul-entity. Those influences that direct even in the physical coordination of the senses are of the spiritual-mental import.
-
It may be considered from a purely physical angle that those conditions apparent through the stages of gestation, birth, and bodily development, have their physical reactions in the body in the present. However, when there is taken into consideration the normalcy of all other functionings of this organism, or entity, we find that this phase - the period of conception - must also be considered, - if there would be brought to the body at this time, in this experience, the material or physical benefits toward the restoration of vision.
-
As we find, then, - this is given as a means, a manner for the preparation of the body physically and mentally, that there may be these conditions rectified with this body:
-
In the beginning, then, - let there be first prepared and used that ordinarily known as the Wet Cell Appliance, carrying the vibration from the Chloride of Gold. However, this would be attached in the reverse manner from that ordinarily indicated. Hence it will necessitate careful preparation, and the making of the larger nickel anode in such a manner that it may be attached to the spine as the body sleeps - that is, so that it may be firmly attached and yet not disturb the body. This larger nickel plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially (in the proportions of one grain to each ounce of distilled water, and use at least four ounces of the solution), is to be attached to the 2nd and 3rd dorsal center. The small copper plate (which is just opposite from that ordinarily indicated, you see), would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, or what would be (to the mother) two fingers from the navel center and one finger up toward the right from the navel center, see? These attachments would be made each evening as the child rests, for twenty minutes. Change the Gold Solution every fifteen days.
-
And that period of twenty minutes each day should be used by the parents - the father, the mother - as a period of meditation and prayer; that there be the impression so received by the mental and spiritual forces in the body as to bring that connection with the nerve impulse to supply that vital energy necessary for the reactions through the nerves and the blood supply to the organs of vision, - through the optic centers, - as to produce normal vision.
-
Let this not be done as mere rote, or as a mere ceremony, or as a mystical activity for some unseen forces. For, know that God’s mercies and promises are definite, and REAL!
-
As the Appliance is attached, let the meditation and prayer of each parent be in this attitude - in unison:
-
“FATHER, GOD! IN THY MERCY AND LOVE, IN COMMITTING TO OUR CARE THIS ONE OF THY CHILDREN, HINDERED - AS WE FEEL - FROM RECEIVING THE MATERIAL BLESSINGS, BECAUSE OF THE HINDRANCES IN THE BODY-PHYSICAL, CLEANSE THOU OUR LIVES, AND THIS LIFE, IN SUCH A WAY AND IN SUCH MEASURES THAT THERE MAY BE BROUGHT THE PERFECT PHYSICAL VISION TO THIS BODY!”
-
“IN HIS NAME WE SEEK THY GRACE, THY MERCY, AND THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THY LOVE AND CARE.”
-
Let the prayer be in that attitude.
-
Then, after twenty-eight days we will give further instructions. Do that as suggested each day for twenty-eight days. Then we will give those suggestions for further corrective measures to be brought about.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any suggestions regarding the diet for the child? (A) Keep those things that have kept it thus far.
-
We are through for the present.

(1/25/41 GD’s notes: See article [which was enclosed] explaining theory of the Wet Cell Appliance. It may be that Mrs. [920] or Miss [906] will know of someone who has this type of Appliance that may be borrowed for the length of time you need it.
Let us know when the treatment has been followed for the twenty-eight days, so that we may make an appointment for a Check Physical Reading to give further instructions.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/11/41 [2436]‘s mother’s letter:
“I should like to thank you for the reading you gave my baby on January 25th. I honestly feel that something can be done for her. I approached my doctor with the idea and of course he refused to cooperate with me. I then wrote to Mrs. [920] and asked her if she knew of anyone who had used the Wet Cell Appliance, but she did not know of anyone. You see, I’m afraid I will not be able to handle the apparatus without help.”
R2. 2/24/41 EC wrote [2436]‘s mother suggesting that she go either to Dr. Frank P. Dobbins or to Dr. Harold J. Reilly for help in using the Appliance.
R3. 5/25/41 [2436]‘s mother’s letter: “I started the Wet Cell treatments for [2436] on May 7th. It’s a little more than two weeks.”
R4. 6/3/41 [2436]‘s mother’s letter: “Since I last wrote you there is some improvement in the way the baby responds to light… I have secured another supply of chloride of gold but will wait with the other chemicals until the results of your recheck are known.” [She submitted questions.]
R5. 6/14/41 EC gave 2436-2.
