This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of July, 1942, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [2796], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2436].

3. As we find, conditions continue to develop. Still, there are periods of overanxiousness about the final outcome.

4. There must be kept ALL of those applications as we have suggested for the body.

5. With just the corrective measures by the chiropractic adjustments, there will be required longer periods of treatment.

6. And we would not forget those influences that have been indicated, as for the spiritual and mental welfare and activity of those responsible for the body.

7. For, know, He it is that healeth all thine infirmities, all of thy sickness and thy diseases - as has been given of old. And it is by faith that ye are healed, and not of thyself. For it is the gift of God.

8. Then, be very patient, very persistent; forgetting not His promises nor all the benefits that may come through walking close with Him.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Is there a detachment of the retina? (A) No, not a detachment. While the fluid that flows through the activity of the lens appears at times to be swimming in the fluid itself, this is the attempt - as is the tendency for the body to rub the eyes at times - for the body forces here to gradually adjust themselves to the physical force as may bring full vision.

From the manner in which there is the response to light, or to shadow, there are indications that there is refraction - or some concept of vision.

11. (Q) Is the rubbing of her eyes harmful? (A) It is not harmful provided it does not scratch or injure the eye in the rubbing. Rather it is nature’s means for adjusting of the outflow from the ducts that wash or keep the eyes clean.

Be sure to keep bathing with a mild antiseptic that will keep the eye clean. Do this at least twice each day, or oftener if there is a great deal of trouble.

12. (Q) Just how much vision does she have? (A) There’s just the indication that there is refraction.

13. (Q) Have the treatments by the chiropractor been of any help at all? (A) As indicated, this will require a longer period, but they are naturally beneficial. We find it would be well to put these treatments farther apart and for the mother - at the time of the prayer daily - to do the massaging through the upper dorsals and through the cervical area. This would be good. Use Peanut Oil, when the mother does the massaging.

14. (Q) What can be done at this time to help her vision? (A) Continue with all of those things that have been suggested, consistently and persistently. Should it require even YEARS longer, it would be much more than worth it - for those making the applications, as well as for the opportunities offered to the body itself.

15. (Q) Her mental progress has been very slow due to the lack of vision. Is there anything we can do to help this condition? (A) This is not a lack of mental process, for it is very good. And she is developing equally as well as, and in keeping with all of that suggestion made to the body.

16. (Q) Of late she has been in the habit of banging her back against her chair, crib, or anything she leans against. I fear she will injure her back. How can we stop this? (A) Not necessary to stop it, but when this comes about rub the back. This is the attempt of the body itself, for it makes for that feeling of the need of the connection between the sensory forces and the cerebrospinal and sympathetic centers in that area of the neck and upper portion of the dorsal.

17. (Q) Any other advice at this time? (A) Do these, if we would keep the better forces for this body.

And don’t forget the prayer!

R1. 7/18/42 GD’s note: Under separate cover I am sending an article on the Life Readings. Considering the indication that you would be better able to understand and meet the problem with [2436] if you understood your past associations with her - since nothing happens by chance - I thought you’d like to study this with the view of having a Life Reading - first for each of you, and then later for [2436]. It is always so much easier, I think, to meet a problem of any kind if you understand WHY you have to meet it. The Association would gladly contribute one of these Life Readings - perhaps better for the mother first - but it should not be sought until you are both perfectly familiar with the whole background of the Life Readings; and even then not unless you have a ‘feeling’ that you are going to be greatly helped by such a revelation as might be revealed in your Life Reading, and the determination that you will ‘do something about’ whatever mental and spiritual advice may be given. I wish we could have an opportunity to discuss this at length. We are all SO VERY MUCH interested in seeing little [2436] regain her vision, but from what I gather from the information already given, a spiritual awakening of some kind must take place first in both of you. In other words, there is something to be gained by you in passing through this experience with [2436], and until that is gained the condition cannot be healed. I sincerely believe that the understanding of what it is you are meeting within yourselves, and the solution to your problem mentally and spiritually, lies in a Life Reading. This does not mean that the physical applications given for [2436] are not important - THEY ARE! But all the material applications in the world could not bring about a healing unless there is that spark of the Creator injected into them. That spark can be awakened, I believe, through a complete knowledge of your inner selves, - what you have builded in former lives and what you are to accomplish in this - with the knowledge of how to go about it.

“Forgive me if all of this seems out of place to you - I am just writing on the spur of the moment as I feel, because of my great desire to help… P.S. Also I’m sending several readings on the glands, [[281] series] which I believe if you will study will open up avenues of thought pertaining to your problem. To understand these there will be required much study and prayer, but what is more important than to understand the source of our being and the method by which we may again become one with our Maker?”
